After getting our quote, he came to take measurements and a 50% deposit (the remaining due after installation). We were quoted a 4-6 week lead time but it took 11.5 weeks. I understand that delays happen especially with the current supply chain issues, but I just wish there was more communication regarding the delays. Overall, I'm super excited about the barn yard door! It looks aesthetically pleasing, rolls smoothly, and Walter and Chris worked hard on the installation (taking just a little over 3 hours). It looks way better than the DIY ones you buy online and I love how the frosted glass turned out. Through our builder, they wanted $2500 for a standard door, so we're glad that we went with Walter instead to get a custom one for less than $3000 (including tax) that's more practical and looks nicer.

We got an estimate from Andersen (less the storm door). Their products and installation method were top-notch, but so was their estimated price! So we wanted something more economical. After some research we heard Milgard windows using an "retrofit" installation would be more in our price range. We also wanted a window/door-installation company that gave us a good price estimate (1/3 the cost of Andersen), was in our locale (Tri-Valley) , and had 5-star rating already. So we were happy to find Cal Coast that met those criteria. The initial estimate process was straightforward. Our estimator was friendly and efficient. The format of the estimate came in digital PDF format. It was easy to print, and the details and layout were very helpful with diagrams of what the windows and door would look like with dimensions. One measurement for one window was slightly off. I mentioned that to my estimator. He assured me that was not a problem because if I accepted their estimate, then the next step was for another technician would come out to the house to re-measure the windows more accurately and in more detail. We did accept the estimate, and indeed another technician came out to do detailed measurements. Then we received a revised and more detailed contract in that same great layout! The estimator kindly set our expectations that our windows and door were going to take 5-6 weeks to custom manufacture and about 1 to 2 days to install. Those timings were right on target, which helped us in planning other events in our life. Installation only took 1 day! The crew was great - courteous, hard working, and efficient. They put foam insulation in the space between our window frames and the new windows. The caulking work was professional. I was pleased. And the crew cleaned up after themselves perfectly. Another thing I was pleased with was Cal Coast's production manager helped me apply and get my city building permit for the new windows. The day of installation, the foreman handed me a nice folder with the printed permit with other instructions. I really appreciated that. Also after installation she worked with my city building department to schedule a final inspection by a city inspector. When the inspector came out, because the product and installation were superb, it passed with no problem. Of course, I paid a little more to have this permit processing service, but it was well worth it. Finally, as you can tell from this rather long review, I'm very pleased with our experience with Cal Coast and the Milgard products. I add my 5-star review to others that have gone before me for Cal Coast!

At the start, I got three estimates on the windows, and this company's estimate was about 60% the price of the other two. The owner, Vlad, was early to the estimate appointment (I like punctuality). The estimate was very quick and straightforward; no upsell at all. After signing the contract, and paying the deposit, they said it would take about a month to get the windows made. They emailed me almost exactly a month later to schedule the installation. The installer, Boris, was also right on time on the day of the installation. He did nearly all of the work himself, except Vlad came to help for a large picture window. Boris did a great job. The installation took about 7 hours. One thing I felt they could improve on is being more proactive about their communication. I felt that I was the one initiating nearly all the emails. Overall, I am happy with their work and would recommend this company to friends and family.

However, that company didn't service my parents' area, so I called Replacement Windows for Less. They were responsive, respectful, and super helpful in making recommendations (e.g., window type, tempered glass, etc.). Their price was reasonable; they were fast; and as soon as I saw the finished product, I wished I had used them for my house as well. This is a tiny detail, but it stood out: When retrofit windows are installed, companies use a strip of vinyl on the inside to create a clean finish between the new window and the original wall. The company who did our windows cut straight strips, whereas THIS company cut them all at a 45-degree angle like a quality picture frame. So nice. My windows are fine, and again, I wouldn't have even noticed had I not seen the work this company did for my parents. If any of my friends are looking to get their windows upgraded, this is the company I would go with!

I really appreciate their responsiveness and willingness to special order the piece that was needed for the repair. Their pricing is transparent and straightfoward.
