They did a great job, put my hutch together perfectly and were patient with me as I changed my mind about where I wanted it! All the furniture arrived in the same condition as when they picked it up. He asked to right some wrongs, explained why certain things happened the way they did and offered to review the home again and write the estimate over. Patrick and Susan came back to the house and completed the evaluation and wrote the quote, both done as they should have been and came in quite competitively with the other movers that offered us a quote. That left us with a dilemma; go with Personal Movers because they were very good about reworking our estimate or go with another mover who did things correctly the first time. In the end, we went with our gut. The estimates were nearly identical, but the fact that we had had trouble initially gave us pause. We went with the other mover. I changed my review to a three because Patrick did try to make it right and in all fairness had not performed the move yet. This company seems like one that is open to righting wrongs, and willing to put a more senior person on the job if you aren't satisfied. I do appreciate that. 04/23/2015 I called Personal Movers and spoke with Susan Ward about having someone come out to review my home for packing and shipping to another state. Susan visited and toured my home. She said that she would provide me a quote via email as soon as possible. I had received quotes from three other companies in under three days so I expected the same from Susan. After waiting two weeks, I had to call Susan twice to ask for her quote. When Susan finally sent me the quote, not only was it considerable higher than each of the other movers but the information included was inaccurate. For instance, the quote included charges for the shipment of 3 K/Q beds - I have 1. The quote included a total of 7 beds of various sizes. I have 1K and two twin size beds. This website here on Yelp states that they give discounts for AAA members and senior citizens. I am both and neither was ever mentioned to me. I don't use the internet much so I was unaware of this until after I received the quote and my daughter pointed out that they didn't include a discount. Given that I practically had to beg THEM for their business, I would not recommend Personal Movers and will not be using them myself. If this is not typical of their business then perhaps Susan Ward is the problem. I cannot reconcile a moving business treating a potential customer as though they are inconveniencing them by requesting to use them to move. I can't even imagine what the actual service might have been and the customer service response about a problem would be.

The day they were supposed to come pack our items they delayed last minute several days. Our drop off date was also delayed mid delivery due to truck breakdowns. They rent their trucks and are at the mercy of the rental company for replacements when this happens. The team also broke our electric fireplace entertainment center, and threw it AWAY without telling us. When we got to our new place and noticed it was missing we asked where the item was and were told they threw it away because the movers said we did not want the item. Contacted the owner 07/05/23 and he said "That didn't make it. I was told that you knew the side was already apart. That you guys didn't care about it that's why I didn't say anything. Is that not the case?" We told him this was not true and wanted a refund for our item. Had to text, call and follow up 10+ times to be ignored, or pushed off. We were told "will be sent tomorrow" "will pay end of this week" for months. Finally 09/15 he sent a payment for $75 for our $180 fireplace. Contacted him several times since about why a partial refund was sent to no response. Owner left us on read 09/25/23 and has not responded. We are not sure if this was because we know family/ friends so it wasn't taken seriously or why we were treated like this. Photos, texts, of everything. For a move from RI to FL and costing $5,800 we would have expected to be treated better. Updated: The owner reached out on 2/14/24 after I wrote this review and said he would be paying the remaining amount he owed for our damaged item ($75). He then only sent a partial payment ($50) on 3/5, and then the final amount on 3/18/24. Our move was 9 months prior.

We were scheduled to move on Monday, but the weather forcasted high winds and heavy rain. There was an actual storm warning issued. I was concerned for their safety because 3 pieces were heavy and awkward and called to see if he would prefer to do it on Sat. or Sun. He said he had a small move on Saturday but could most likely do it after. If not, he could definitely do it on Sunday, after his son's competition. I rented the truck for 2 extra days based on our agreement. He kept postponing on Saturday until he eventually cancelled and said he had 2 guys definitely coming Sunday. He was supposed to call as soon as his son finished the competition. We waited all day, called, texted and received no answer. Monday morning came and he still hadn't shown up at the original time of 8:00. We started calling around in a panic and hired someone at almost twice the price because it was same day. They came and did a great job! Finally, after 10:00, Mike called and said he could come. It was too late by then. His excuse was that they supposedly got into an accident on the way home and he said no one was hurt but they took his phone when they towed his car. Now that I want my deposit back, suddenly he's saying his wife was in the hospital for 5 days but refuses to show an accident report. Either way, our agreement was that he would call immediately after his son's competition, which would've been before any "accident" happened. Every time I try to communicate with him, the story changes. Total crook and very dishonest. Run, don't walk away from these guys!

This really should have been a two day job, the crew and we were exhausted by the end of the day. I'm not really upset about the cost difference because I knew what their hourly rate was. The crew really wanted to get it all wrapped up for us by the end of the day instead of stretching to another day because they had another job the next day bright and early. The booking office is really putting their workers through the wringer and I don't appreciate that. The crew was kind and delicate with our items. They were being gracious and offering to do whatever we wanted with regards to helping pack remaining items, disassembling and reassembling furniture, and organizing things at the new house. I may have taken note of their time for these things if it hadn't been clear by noon that this was going to already be a very long day. By 10pm I was just happy to have everything remaining that we own in the garage. So I did enjoy the crew, but if you go with this company and have a lot of stuff then you need to do some legwork yourself to get an accurate estimate. I had a three bedroom 1700 sqft house with a large basement and garage and it took 15 hours and cost $4k.
