STAY AWAY!!!! Horrible!!! Movers damaged my antique furniture, scratched/chipped the wood floor in my new apartment, and lost all of my silverware. The sales team and movers were very nice and helpful, but the company was ultimately unwilling to take responsibility for the damage. The process was rushed at the end, and while I appreciated them moving quickly, it meant I did not notice the damage until after they left. The manager I spoke with was extremely difficult and said there was nothing they could do because I did not report it during the move - I have never heard of anything so ridiculous. They made me go through a very confusing claim process, and then I never heard from them despite following up multiple times. I understand that accidents happen and things break, but I have never heard of a mover who isn't willing to work with the customer to make it right. I would have been very happy to work with them on a partial refund that felt fair for everyone (and even offered to do that instead of writing a bad review when I spoke with the salesperson) but their manager was unwilling to do the right thing. I was extremely clear with the movers that the antique they damaged was my most valuable piece of furniture, and of course that is the piece they broke. They clearly were not equipped to handle heavy items - I saw the panic on their faces trying to get it out of my old place and they were dragging it around my new place, which is how they scratched/chipped the wood floor. At the end of the move, the movers insisted that I write a positive review while they were standing there, which put me in a very awkward position. I imagine that is why they have so many reviews despite doing a sloppy job and being unwilling to take accountability for their mistakes. The owner is going to respond pointing to their other positive reviews, but keep in mind that these are there because their movers pressure customers to write them at the end of the move. While their rates and pricing are pretty reasonable compared to other movers, you will pay for it when they damage your belongings and apartment and then refuse to take responsibility or respond to your concerns. read more

The movers called to let me know they were on their way then came to the unit to assess and make a plan with me before getting started. This was our third move with Flash - one long-distance move and two within Boston, with 2 months of storing our stuff in between. They are the best! Careful, but efficient. Always send enough people to make sure the job goes smoothly. Worked with us to place furniture where we thought we wanted it, then cheerfully moved it all around when we changed our minds. All of our belongings came out of storage in more or less the same shape they went in and they've never broken anything in any of our moves. When they realized one piece of a table was MIA they went back to the warehouse same-day to retrieve it and put the table together. We had "epic" rain the day we moved. There was flash flood warning and the hospital nearby flooded so you can imagine the chaos. And despite the scary traffic and flooding in roads all items arrived safely. This includes the 8' tall antique mirror, 7' tall plant, and all other furniture. We did rent stackable bins in lieu of boxes which I think helped. Packing skill wise I'm going to say 4 stars. Some of the items did not get wrapped and contacted cement which scratched. I didn't want to micromanage but I felt the need to keep an oversight when furniture was being wrapped because I felt like the care was lacking on wood veneer and antique items. Towards the end they just asked and confirmed if the way they were wrapping was ok, and i appreciated that. If you're looking at multiple moving companies to compare and wondering why prices are different it's usually based on the knowledge and care the staff have of the furniture. Flash has all the equipment needed to move so as long as you keep an eye out and ask them to do how you want them to do it you'll be fine. I've used slightly priceyer companies where the owner is the lead move and has one other person to help, those type of service you can be more hands off. But we wanted to save in cost and I'd say Flash delivered the service I expected. I think Flash should ask a little more detailed information about the amount of stuff to move for more accurate time frame but that's their business. I estimate conservatively and added 1.5 hours to their estimate (estimate was 4-6 hours, it took about 7.5 hours) since we had tricky stuff like narrow doors for washer and dryer. Rain and thunder was crazy but they did their best in keeping the items dry. We only saw two big scratches on the floor upstairs (just refinished floors 2 days ago so it's obvious) but we'll deal with it another day. They did have to stop the clock for about a hour while the thunder and rain was awful... and while my husband and I tended to multiple flooding issues (basement, roof, windows) they stayed calm and communicative on the plan. They also added 2 more people to help finish the move so once the rain stopped they were able to move 50 bins in about 15 minutes. All in all, we're grateful for the service they provided and patience they have with any situation. read more

Had a snafu where I was initially going to use Flash to pack a POD but last minute had to change. Viktor and Julia helped me with all of the planning with the utmost professionalism and they made this huge change without any issues. Had further issues where I had to delay my move by a day and they also accommodated us graciously. They even helped call my new apartment building to make sure they could get all the info needed for move in -- they went above and beyond! Plus the pricing was extremely reasonable with multiple options for cash, zelle, or credit, including for tip. All transactions were electronically documented which I really appreciate. The movers themselves were super kind, on top of it, and professional. They took great care not to damage any items or the apartments themselves. The same people who packed our stuff also delivered it so they knew how to assemble everything and where everything was meant to go (even better than me in some cases). On both ends of the move, they were very communicative and even were early. I cannot emphasize how incredible the service was from initial quote call to finishing the move. That's not a deal breaker for me, but I certainly prefer to work with people who at least make an effort to act professional. These guys were great! Everyone at Flash Moving Company was great. It was also a nice touch that when I called they always addressed me by name (yes, in this day and age caller ID makes that simply but its a nice added touch all the same). And the moving team themselves were extremely friendly and polite. Communication was also very good. I never needed to wonder what was going on. They kept me informed every step of the way. -Quote Accuracy They offered an in home quote which I really liked. Unfortunately the quote for me wasn't very accurate. I was originally quoted $800, and I ultimately ended up paying $1,300 which I wasn't thrilled with BUT please finish reading the whole review, so you'll understand why they still got five stars. In regards to the quote; I know for a fact I had a few complicated piece of furnitures because they had given the handyman a difficult job when he first assembled them a few years back. I can understand a bit of extra time in that regard. The one thing that I think is a bit less understandable is they underestimate how much room there was in the truck. Like I said, they did do an in home quote so they saw the size of the furniture and I didn't end up with more boxes than what was original predicted so they probably should have foreseen that based on the inventory. Keep in mind, however, this was a very local move so the miscalculation probably only threw things off by 45 minutes at most. So yes, it was a mistake but I wouldn't call it a huge mistake. -Care/handling of furniture One of the reasons I am less annoyed about the quote is the level of care they took on my furniture. I've had movers who I've paid a flat rate to, and its obvious that they cut corners or start to get careless as the clock runs. I love saving money, but I don't love having my stuff destroyed. This was an afternoon move, and they were still at it come 9pm, and they were just as careful at 9 as they were at 2pm. That's a HUGE plus in my book. The one negative I do have to mention is a couple of small things are missing from the disassembled items. Most notably the hose and connector to my portable AC which cost me $82 to replace. I'm not really sure why they disconnected it in the first place (an abundance of caution I guess) but then they misplaced it costing me money. -Efficiency I'm not a mover so I don't really want to say too much about this. I imagine there is a huge balancing act between efficiency and care. You want to take good care of the persons things but you don't want to be so over cautious that you take forever and over charge. I think Flash had a good balance but there were a few things that could have been done a bit better. For example, using a trolly for the boxes probably would have saved a bit more time than bringing them out by hand (especially the small ones which aren't heavy but you can't really grab more than one or two at a time by hand). I also feel like a few things were disassembled that didn't need to be (for example, my futon and dinning room table could have fit through my doorway, even though some doorways might have been to narrow). I don't by any means think they were inefficient, but there were a few areas were things could have been speed up. -Price I think there prices are average. I got a lot of quotes (five to be exact) and Flash was the second lowest quote, but the final price was right in the middle of all the other quotes I was given. So they are competitive; not the cheapest but nowhere near the highest. I also had a very big move, its my guess that a smaller move would have had a more accurate quote and Flash might come out a bit cheaper than other moving companies. I can't confirm that though, but that's my best guess. The only slight con is that credit cards have a 3% charge and they don't accept checks. I understand that credit cards cost money to use, but movers are a lot of money, that's a lot of cash to carry around in order to avoid the fee. My personal suggestion is to get rid of the fee or to accept checks. Short of that, I think it might be a good will measure to waive the fee on any balance over the estimate. For example, I was estimated 800, so I took out $1,000 and ended up putting $300 on the credit. I think waiving the 3% on that $300 would have been a happy medium. -Other Important Notes I was originally scheduled for May 9th but my law school final schedule had other ideas. I called them on the 6th begging to reschedule and they were so quick and willing to work with me. My movers even asked me how my final went! read more

Cons: -dirty deal making: They specifically quoted me a rate that included 2 men when I booked the move but on the actual day of my move, 3 men showed up and I was charged $50/hr extra--- this added $300 to my move!! - inconsiderate movers: it happened to be raining on the day I moved. Upon entering my new home, the movers refused to wear booties or lay down plastic when walking on new carpet. They ruined my new carpet due to their refusal. When I laid down my own sheets, they refused to work around them. - they handled my boxes--with fragile dishes and items with lack of care. Thankfully nothing broke because of my careful packing. Flash Moving was terrific for our move today! They gave a window of 8-9 AM, called at 7:45 AM giving their estimated arrival time of 8:10 AM (they arrived at 8:09 AM). They worked quickly and efficiently. They were realistic that we couldn't do both the house and the storage unit in one go (turns out we have a lot of stuff!), explained the price difference for another truck vs going back for the storage unit. They reassembled our furniture and made sure everything was located to our liking. They were very respectful of our belongings and of our dog (who tends to runaway). They tried to be extra quiet after we put our toddler to bed. I hope not to move again anytime soon but if we do, we'll be using Flash Moving again. read more
