I needed a bridesmaid dress hemmed and brought in and Julie did an amazing job. I rarely wear this kind of dress so I appreciated her taking charge and pinning it to the correct length rather than just asking what I wanted. It's a little pricy, I paid around $150, but she basically had to deconstruct it at every seam and put it back together which contributed to the cost. The work is impeccable - when she was done it fit like a glove, you can't see that it was altered, and it felt secure all night. She is taking reasonable COVID precautions. J's actually charges it's customers fairly for the amount of work needed and employees were very friendly. I ended up getting a Bridesmaid dress altered here and it came out perfect! Fantastic Wedding Dress Alterations!! I needed my hem taken in quite a bit in the back and sides (which was difficult due to the design/lacing), along with the lining underneath, and 5 bustles put in. The way the tailor shortened the hem was amazing! You couldn't even tell that she had cut the lacing and re-attached it higher because it was done so well! I researched online and found her due to her good reviews. The best part was, she was the most reasonably priced of all the other tailors I called that had good reviews! I have used J's Alterations a few times over the past several years. She is expensive but does a very good job. Julie has been rude to me in the past. I do believe it is because I am plus size. I took my young daughters's costume in to be altered. It was two items of clothing and a belt - it was not lined nor made of lace. Julie was visibly annoyed that the alterations were extensive. She could have turned me away because of this - instead she charged me $170; much more expensive than I originally paid for the costume. (Again, I understand, respect and acknowledge that the alterations were extensive.) I paid the amount because my daughter needed it for an important school presentation/oral report and I didn't have time to purchase another item as it took her over two weeks to complete the alterations. Let me first say I am coming from experiences of taking pants to be hemmed to the dry cleaners to have them come back shorter than we pinned them, and the stitches so tight, they puckered along the hem. So when I had two 63" curtains and needed two more only to find out they were no longer available, I realized I would have to buy the 84" curtains and have them hemmed. The curtains had a detached lining, making this a more complex job. Imagine my trepidation bringing in two long curtains with the one short one, saying, "Please make these two look exactly like this one". I really had my fingers crossed. Not only was this done with a smile, but they were absolutely perfect. I was thoroughly pleased. I didn't really expect it, so this was the highlight of my day. Brought two pairs of brand new chinos to be altered. When I got them back one pair had noticeable damage on the left bottom hem and loose threads were sticking out. This was supposed to be a routine easy thing and she ruined the pants. Unacceptable. read more

She went over all of the alterations that needed to be done, actually discounted one of the alterations and threw in shoulderpads and a facemask for free. Julie did an excellent job on re-sizing my wedding gown! I was referred here by a family member and I am glad I went with it even though it was an 1 hour away from me. My gown was taken down to 3 sizes with a bustle added in. I wasn't sure if this could be done accurately as my dress was a little complicated due to the overall material. But after only 2 fittings, Julie was able to accurately match it to my true size. I am pleasantly happy with the results and definitely recommend her for any future alterations! Julie is fantastic! I have taken 2 blazers and a pair of pants for alterations, and they have all turned out exactly (even better) than I had hoped. One jacket was widened a bit in the back...another peplum jacket was shortened in the body and sleeves slimmed. Admittedly I can be tough to please and want my clothes just so. What can I say?
