    Carrot cake was fantastic

I brought my brother to this J Alexander's on a Tuesday night. The place was packed! We barely found a parking space in the huge parking lot. My brother is a vegan and I wanted him to try the veggie burger. Surprisingly, we were seated right away in a nice corner booth. Olivia was our server and it was only her second day at J Alex. She did a wonderful job considering the huge dinner rush. My brother ordered the veggie burger without cheese or mayo. The glaze on top of the burger looked amazing and the lettuce and tomato on the top bun were incredibly fresh. The lettuce was so crisp. He loved the whole meal! It was one of the best burgers ever. My Ahi Tuna Salad was a 10 out of 10. The tuna was perfectly seared and the salad was so fresh. It was delicious! My side of broccoli was amazing as well. We ordered the Four Vines Zinfandel. It was very fruit forward. We liked it. We also had the amazing carrot cake. It was warm with a nice melted frosting. Our night at J Alexander's was excellent. The place is cozy, the food delicious and the service top notch.

Love this place. When you ask for extra blue cheese olives, they really deliver!!! Food and service are consistently excellent and the fish is outstanding. This is my boyfriend's favorite cheeseburger place ever.

What a wonderful start to the weekend by going to J's. We started off by sharing the redwood salad and it was excellent - the chicken in it was really good- you could order this as your meal and be satisfied. We also went with the crispy shrimp appetizer and this is filling as well so to the sauce - but it's so tasty I definitely say to try it out. For entree I had the French dip and it was cooked to perfection and the horseradish sauce is a must get with this - so good! We also had the full slab of ribs and these were cooked to perfection BUT we weren't a fan of the bbq sauce - it was too sweet. The fries here are really good and I would skip the coleslaw. Enjoy this one - it's worth a bite!

Solid experience here. A modern, stylish and sophisticated full service restaurant. Great ambiance delicious food and professional friendly service. Came here after Christmas shopping and ordered the baked goat cheese and the Hong Kong shrimp for appetizers. Both were absolutely delicious. Had the Hyde park chicken sandwich and that was very good as well. My friend had the chicken Milanese which I tried and it was delicious. I will be getting that next time. Only thing I didn't like was that they didn't have a single Christmas or holiday decoration up. We were looking for a vibe after Christmas shopping and they fell short on that. No effort to partake. Aside from that a lovely experience. Will be back.

Wow Wow Wow What a great experience. Had dinner here with family and friends and I have to tell you the food , drink, atmosphere, service and price were fantastic A HUGE thanks to Shauna our server who was probably one of the best I've ever met. And I grew up in a family who worked in the restaurant business. Everyone working at this restaurant was smiling and upbeat. In this day and age that's not something you see often anymore. Kudos to manager Jamie for having her team looking and working so great Again , thanks to our amazing server Shauna you're incredible See you again real soon Bob Chicago

Nice ambience. Server was attentive. The grilled artichoke was delicious although not too meaty. I had a salmon burger and shoestring fries (which everyone gobbled up the fries!) . The salmon burger was large and tasty. My husband's ahi tuna salad was fair. Warm carrot cake was yummy.

We were seated promptly in the formal dining room which was nicely decorated. Our semi-circular booth was spacious and comfortable. There were different sections in the restaurant that were more casual, tailored to the different tastes of the clients. Overall, food was delicious and portions were huge. I had a Boston Clam Chowder and a Gulf Grouper as the main. I would usually order a salad, but I didn't this time as each entrée came with a large plate of homemade roasted vegetables and wild rice. The Boston Clam Chowder had real pieces of clams in it. However, it was just lukewarm. My grouper looked great and tasted flavorful, but it was somewhat over-cooked (and therefore not tender), which was unfortunate. My wife had a bowl of Lobster Bisque and an order of Stuffed Flounder that had crabmeat sandwiched in the fish. She absolutely loved her choices. Our daughter had a Charbroiled Walleye and liked it too. Her only disappointment was the garlic bread being hard and dry. Our daughter and I each had a Chardonnay Stags Leap which was good, while my wife had a Virgin Mojito and truly enjoyed it. Surprisingly, the highlight of the night was the slice of tiramisu that our friendly and professional server Greg brought to me! It had a lit candle for my birthday, and Greg teamed up with two other waitresses enthusiastically sang me a happy birthday song! The tiramisu was excellent, creamy and not too sweet. I am not a dessert person but really appreciated this. I have a suggestion for the restaurant: as the portions were so large and each of us brought home half of it, it would have been nice that they make the portion 40% to 50% smaller, and lower the average price of $40 per entrée accordingly. It might help attract more customers. Just my two cents. All in all, I had a lovely birthday dinner at Boston Fish Market. Ambience was good, and service was outstanding. We will certainly return again.

My ahi tuna was a tiny overcooked and kinda fishy. Portion was a lot of vegetables which were fine. My husband had halibut which was good, but only a couple pieces of asparagus. Last time he had potatoes and we both got green beans too. Coffee was lukewarm and tasted old When he made the reservation he said it was our anniversary. No mention of that at all either. Disappointed on this visit for the price you pay

My family has dined here twice now and enjoyed both meals thoroughly. A full bar is stocked, and I've enjoyed a strong lemon drop martini here, as well as a glass of Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc. Dining area has about 18 tables, so it feels very intimate and cozy. The menu is posted on a large whiteboard and can change frequently. Favorites we've tried are the ravioli (filled with spinach, mushroom, whatever is offered) and chicken picatta. We don't leave with any leftovers. Entrees can range from $25-60 at moderate portion sizes, so it is a spendy meal but worth every penny. Warm bread and butter are served before dinner and the fried calamari is a crispy appetizer that hits the spot. To touch on post dinner... save room because that butter cake is one of our favorite desserts anywhere!! It is crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, served with gelato on top/side, whipped cream, and caramel and toasted pecans on our latest visit. Because there is no dessert menu (just what the waitstaff verbally tells you), here's what I can recall from it on our last visit last month: carrot cake, tiramisu, gelato, Oreo cake, banana chocolate chip cake, butter cake. Skip the Oreo cake. It tastes just like chocolate cake (a tasty one with a lovely crumb, just not reminiscent of Oreo at all) with a scoop of chocolate gelato on the side. Can't wait to return!

That alone should tell you how special it is. The Food: No matter what you order, it's consistently excellent. The artichokes are addictive--I could eat them nonstop. The branzino is perfection, cooked to a level that makes you forget every other fish you've ever had. The Atmosphere: Small, cozy, and charming. They've done a remarkable job maximizing the space without losing that intimate feel. It's the kind of place that feels like a secret you're lucky to know about. The Downside: They don't take reservations, which means the wait can be frustrating. Timing your visit is a bit of a gamble, but honestly, the food makes it worth it. The Service: Exactly what you'd expect from a team that's been doing this for decades--steady, reliable, no frills. The real highlight is the owner, who personally greets every table to make sure you're enjoying yourself. That kind of hospitality is rare and unforgettable. Final Verdict: Even if Italian food isn't your thing, this place will win you over. It's authentic, welcoming, and downright delicious. A true neighborhood treasure.
