Stopped in at this local deli for a good corned beef sandwich and it didn't disappoint. Don't have a lot of delis in my part of the country so it's a treat when I can find a place that serves deli sandwiches. I got the soup and sandwich combo. The beef barley soup was delicious, hearty, meaty and flavorful, a soup very few places serve anymore. The corned beef sandwich was served on a light rye bread. A good sandwich but a long cry from a New York corned beef sandwich. The corned beef was shaved instead of sliced. So while it appeared to be a thick serving of corned beef it wasn't. Still it was flavorful and I enjoyed it. The surprise was the potato pancake. This was your grandmother's pancake, not the hash brown type pancake most restaurants serve as a potato pancake. It was the star of the meal. Service was good and friendly, the restaurant was clean and a typical fast food environment. Apparently this is a local chain having grown from its original store at the turn of the century. There were three of us for the visit, two ordered the soup and half sandwich and the third ordered a whole sandwich without soup. We each had a fountain soda. Our bill without tip came to just over $50. If I lived in the area I would definitely visit this place again.

I only wish I could have eaten more! Can totally understand why Izzy's Reuben and potato pancakes are famous. SO good! and Tracy took care of us well. She's awesome! Fun personality

Really enjoyed the signature Reuben. Every bite was worth it and wouldn't mind returning to the same location.

Veggie Reuben & Potato Pancake

I won a gift certificate to Izzy's, so we headed here for an easy Friday night dinner - this was the closest location to our house. I went with the Veggie Reuben half-sandwich, which is definitely heavy on the sauerkraut. My husband had an Egg Salad half-sandwich, which was fine. The best part of the mail was the hearty Potato Pancakes that came with our sandwiches. The complimentary bowl of pickles we received before our meal was also a nice selling point. As for the atmosphere, I could've sworn we'd driven a couple hours further south into Kentucky. The vibe just seemed a bit...country.

Half a Suzzy and a potato pancake

Went for a late lunch and while the interior decor could be enhanced, its forgiven with the great food and awesome service. Ordered the daily special: a cup of soup with a slice of bread, half a sandwich in this case The Suzzy (bread, cream cheese, chunky cranberry sauce, lettuce and turkey) with of course a potato pancake and sweetened ice tea. The tea was great. The sandwich tasted like Thanksgiving and the soup was hot with good flavor. Potato pancake was to die for and fried to perfection. Service was attentive. Only complaint was that once ready to pay you approach the counter and have to repeat your whole order back vs having a receipt or them keeping record

Our visit was for a weekday lunch. Not many people in the dining room. Mostly people placing to go orders. Service was much better than previous reviews. Those reviews were a while ago, so those people may not even work there anymore. Food was fresh. It just didn't seem like there was enough of it. Mine was a corned beef. The meat on the sandwiches was thinly cut, and layered in a way, that when bit into it was like eating nothing. My husband said the same about his Ruben. The potato pancake reminded me of funnel cakes. Kind of strange, but worked. The kid's sandwiches had even less meat. The whole meal was more of a light lunch.

I love Izzy's and have been in this location many times. It is a small place, but I have always had good service, seems the waitresses have been there a long time. They honor the Buckeye card everyday. I love the Izzy burger, meat loaf sandwich and have had the Ruben also. The potato pancakes are great, got 1 that was on the real crispy side which I ask for another one and the waitress did not hesitate to do it.

The good first, though: Whatever the flaws in its business model, Green District still turns out well-conceptualized salads that always seem fresh and tasty. The Hide & Go Greek is a very nice chicken one with a robust, terrific dressing. The Thai One On salad is (you guessed it) an Asian-influenced one with shrimp, lots of cabbage and cilantro, and a kind of generic but fresh-tasting Asian-style ginger-heavy dressing. Also very good. Fortunate thing you can order online and don't have to verbalize those unwieldy salad names to a fellow human. (But if you think those names are bad, another one wants you to hold its beer: the Tequila Mockingbird.). Anyway, the food gets this to three stars, but only barely. Alas, the service at this location is a shambles. Count on at least a 35-minute wait, even if you order right after 11am, when things presumably ought not to be backed up. And it looks like chaos back there--just not enough employees back there, most likely. Last time it took this restaurant an incomprehensible 50 minutes to get my salad out. (Who with a regular lunch "hour" downtown has time for this?) Credit to the unflappable and put-upon young fella at the end of the line; he kept doing his job steadily and kept cheerful about it. The manager is always madly rushing about and isn't nearly as cheery (but it almost certainly isn't her fault, either). It astonishing that the food can be is good as it is in this environment. There's something very wrong about this restaurant's business model when the family-run lunch spot down the street (seemingly just as many orders) can crank out your to-go salad (as good as here, for the most part) in three to five minutes and be as friendly as they can be about it. Whoever came up with the plan has some major issues to resolve.

I ordered the Chicken & Waffles expecting actual chicken; not a processed, pre breaded chicken pattie. I sent my dish back & opted for the house salad which had brown lettuce under fresh (word to the chef: lettuce turns brown quickly when knife cut, not so if shredded by hand). My sister ordered the Cod Fish & Chips w/ coleslaw. She received 4 slightly large, overcooked fish sticks (we laughed) w/ fries. She chose not to eat the fish. We were prewarned the coleslaw was awful, so she opted for a salad w/ no tomatoes (which she dislikes). He salad arrived w/ tomatoes which she picked out. Our great aunt (arrived from another city) ordered the meatloaf dinner w/ greens beans & mashed potatoes. She said the green beans had a metallic taste (possibly canned) & the potatoes were bland (possibly boxed made w/ water). Others in our party enjoyed the ribs, fajitas & quesadillas. Needless to say we'll not return to this restaurant nor recommend the food. Good Luck to all the dare!

Meanwhile 2 other tables received a happy birthday, with a candle and dessert - when going to a "steakhouse" is that you go there expect to have an amazing steak. Not the case, my "medium" steak was cooked half medium half rare. For a filet it was also very fatty. when I asked the server (probably 25 minutes after our food was served) she said it didn't look medium and offers to put it back on. no apology Overall it felt very underwhelming and when you pay $70 for a steak you expect it to be right. On top of that celebrating a special occasion, for a $200 meal for 2 people, it Was a bland experience. We've heard amazing reviews so hopefully your experience will be different than ours! We said we'd give it another shot but not going with steak.
