This review is most importantly to focus on the hardworking employees at this location. I came in around 230pm on a Thursday to meet some co workers for a late lunch. There was a very long line and a gentleman that seemed like the manager was the only person working the register. There was also a hard working employee out in the dining room furiously trying to clean the tables, floor, etc. The employees were so kind and asking for some empathy as they never have a lunch rush this late in the day. I assume people were out Christmas shopping and that changed things up. I ordered a half sandwich and cup of soup with a tea. Everything was brought out hot and promptly, again, despite how slammed they were. It was all done with a smile. The food was fine, but the employees were what really made me want to return. There is an endless number of choices in the vicinity, but this place sounded like someplace new and different, so we gave it a try. I hadn't been to McAlister's Deli in ages - so long that I had basically forgotten everything about the place. Sadly, I wish that would have continued. The staff was lovely - everyone was kind, answered questions, and easily pointed toward their favorite items on the menu. But, the real reason to go, the food, was nothing exciting and terribly overpriced. We had a large group and tried the nachos. I think a local bowling alley has the same nachos for half the price. I'm not sure if there are other appetizers, but definitely skip the nachos. As for the main meal, I was mostly disappointed in the tiny portioning, mediocre presentation, and overall taste. Each sandwich was excruciatingly bland, missing any substance, and hastily thrown on the plate. I will give a minimal kudos to the chicken gnocchi soup - it was hot, had some flavor, and was the highlight of the meal. I'm sad to say this is one of my fav McAlister's but tonight was very off a staff full of teenagers and the person taking my order wasn't very friendly unlike how in the past they are. They asked me to sit on the left side of the store, but didn't even say please or anything... I also was presented my food with plastic ware instead of the real deal like there to lazy to wash it.. idk I like weekend crew much better. Trash. I ordered a club that was supposed to have bacon, but it was turkey & ham only. I travel for work do I'm out of state 3-4 days a week and places like this make me rethink my career. Since I work on the road all 3 meals come from restaurants & sometimes I wish they'd just let me in the kitchen to make my own food because I guarantee I wouldn't mess up my own food. Owner or manager if this establishment, don't even offer for me to come by tomorrow because I don't live here, I live in Texas. We had a light dinner here before going to see the Barbie Movie tonight. Four women, 20-something, 40-something, 50-something, and 80-something, and we all enjoyed our meals very much. I have been taking my family here for the past few years at least once a week, sometimes more. We have, at this point, eaten many of the sandwiches and salads offered. In short, this is a great spot. The food is always fresh and well prepared. Delicious too. I have yet to find a menu item that I don't care for. And anytime we've had any issue (which is rare) the staff always make everything right immediately. The staff is always quick and friendly too. This is most likely due to the managers - no matter which one is on duty they are always great. Even when the restaurant is packed food comes quickly and tables are kept clean. This all comes down to customer service. Time and again this location has been fantastic at accepting rewards and military discount. It sounds simple but you see fingers taping the register and it all works out without that annoying look you often get when pulling up an app. And the food choices are broad for the various tastes of my family. I have been to this restaurant twice in the past two weeks. Unfortunately, I have found that when you dine in, everything placed on the table looks great and tastes great. There is not much substance to the sandwiches. When you do a choose 2, it really is supposed to be half a sandwich. Again, when I dine in the restaurant, I really do feel like I am given a half a sandwich (perhaps bc someone has to look at it when it's served on a plate?), but unfortunately, in my several to-go experiences, most of my sandwiches have looked like the below pictures (aka, no meat and no substance). It's disappointing and makes me not want to order sandwiches. It happens too often. I have seen employees double check to make sure orders are correct... But I am hoping extra concern is being placed with the substance of to-go orders leaving the restaurant (same price, same expectations). I ordered a 1/2 southwest chicken and avocado salad and 1/2 veggie spud to go, along with 2 drinks. They did ask if I needed a drink carrier to which I answered yes. Turns out the carrier is a flimsy plastic bag with a very flimsy divider in the bottom. When I questioned this I was told "this works really well." Wrong!! I ended up with 1 drink turned on it's side in the bag and leaking all over the bottom of the bag and the other drink upright and leaking because the lid wasn't sealed properly. When I got back to the hospital to eat dinner with my husband and opened the food I found that every piece of the avocado was full of black spots. The black went all the way through and all pieces had to be tossed. The remaining parts of the 1/2 salad had to contain at least 25 or more rings of a very strong red onion. I love onions but even for me this was too much. They completely overpowered the lettuce and other veggies. I had to toss that as well. Ended up spending over $12 for 1/2 a veggie spud with way too much cheese sauce and half of a very flat drink because the rest of it is still on the floormat of my car. Mel read more

This review is based on a recent catering experience. My boss let us place our order for lunch. I chose the McAlister's club sandwich, BBQ chips, and a chocolate chip cookie. The sandwich was good but pretty much just an average club sandwich. The cookie was surprisingly tasty, just the right amount of chewiness and a nice well rounded flavor. All in all, if someone asked me to join them at McAlister's I'd probably go again, but I wouldn't necessarily seek it out on my own. read more

One is being generous.....our 1st experience with them and it will be our last! When paying for our order the cashier charged our account 4 times!! It kept saying approved on the machine and she kept saying it was not! With no apology she moved us to another machine where they charged us yet again! I said, that this was not a good first impression and he was loosing a customer. Roger, possibly the manager said he couldn't help that......if he can't help it who can!! Reluctantly, we sat down. Comments on the "Choose Two" option ($9.99), Mason OH: Chicken salad was half of a container of salad (lettuce, tomato....) with only 1 tablespoon of chicken salad. It was very creamy with small pieces of chicken which were hardly noticeable. That's a small portion of chicken salad for the amount of lettuce. The 2nd of the "Choose Two" deal was tomato & cucumber salad which consisted of 3 quarter-sized pieces of tomato, and approximately 8 half-sized cuts of cucumber, and red onion, and served in a very small container (probably about 1/3 cup). Ham sandwich was mostly bread, with 3 pieces of ham bunched together on one side of the bread. One slice of cheese made an appearance, smothered in mustard. The featured cookie, a S'Mores-type of cookie, where chocolate was the dominant flavor and 2 micro-sized pieces of marshmallow plus a few chocolate chips -- a bit dry for our taste. I would normally give them an overall 4 stars, but their 2-star carryout service dropped them to 3 stars overall. I placed an online order for pickup for two sandwiches, chips, potato salad, and a Brookie on a recent Wednesday at lunchtime. My order was ready 9 minutes prior to the scheduled pickup time, which is good and bad. Good in that I did not have to wait, but bad in that had I been on time, then my warm food would have been cold. The sandwiches were customized and they got both exactly right - and they tasted very good. Unfortunately, they forgot the chips and potato salad sides, but fortunately I caught it when I checked my bag before I left the restaurant, and they quickly corrected the error. Once I got home, I realized that the Brookie was actually a Brownie, not a Brookie. My order was correct as printed on the receipt and stapled to the bag, but whoever packed the order did not pay attention to what they were doing. McAlister's Deli is a perfect lunch spot. The big menu items are the salads, sandwiches, and the "spuds". Everything here is fresh and tasty. I usually opt for the "choose two" that way I get two different items. Their salads are really good. I've tried the Southwest Cobb salad and the Savannah Chopped salad and would recommend both. The Southwest Cobb has sliced, grilled chicken breast, fire-roasted corn & poblano pepper relish, guacamole, cheddar-jack cheese, tomatoes and tortilla chips. They offer the chipolte ranch with this salad. The Savannah Chopped salad has sliced, grilled chicken breast, dried cranberries, Gorgonzola cheese, honey roasted almonds, tomatoes and cucumbers. They serve it with a sherry shallot dressing. I almost always order the McAlister Club sandwich. It is 13 layers high (OMG) with lettuce, tomato, bacon, Swiss cheese, sharp cheddar, turkey, ham, honey mustard and mayo. Plus they use white and wheat bread. I usually skip the mayo on my sandwich since it comes with honey mustard. Their chicken tortilla soup is also super delicious! It's worth noting that these "spuds" are quite impressive in size and toppings. These baked potatoes are the size of two large baked potatoes. They are ridiculous and so so good. Also, the tea here is legendary. Their sweet tea is amazing and is also available in gallon jugs. They offer peach, mango, and lemon puree to add into the tea as well. I recommend ordering the unsweetened tea if you add flavor shots so that it is not overly sweet. read more

If you're sleeping on McAlister's.. wake up! This place is the bomb. Move over Panera cause this is one of my favorite lunch spots when I'm craving a salad/soup and sandwich combo. I went and met my best friend there for lunch today and I forgot how much I loved McAlister's sammies. I always go for the McAlister's club and today instead of on wheat bread I got it in a wrap and paired it with their fire-roasted vegetable soup, which was DELISH! FYI to all my fellow macro counters, they have a nutrition calculator online which makes it super easy when tracking what you are eat or planning ahead before you go. McAlister's is also known for their tea and they have a seasonal batch of tea that they serve in certain months. My favorite is in the summer they have the best mango iced tea but in the other months I grab their iced black tea which is always super refreshing and tasty. ALSO the service is always so kind and top-notch. They bring your food to your table after you order and they clean it up after you, not like Panera where you are doing the labor yourself. Reminds me more of Jason's Deli in that respect (FYI if you haven't been to Jason's Deli yet, bookmark it on Yelp and get there). Beats Panera by far! Love the pick 2 combos. New Yorker sandwich (corned beef and pastrami) is awesome! Pecan and fruit salad was great!. I am also a fan of their club sandwiches. Never had their giant baked potatoes. Love the cookies and Carrot Cake. They pride themselves on their tea but I have had better. I paid $8 for a giant mug and get 99 cent drinks forever when I go back. I wish the glasses were bigger or closer to the regular drink glasses since I have to keep getting refills. This is my first Yelp so I'll try to be as thorough as possible. Service: I have been coming here for a while, and for the most part the service is good. When you walk in you order at a register and they bring the food to your table. The food almost always comes within 10 minutes of you ordering. Tipping is not required because you don't have a server per say, but the staff does a good job walking around to give refills. I've only had the occasional moody teenager at the register a few times out of the many times I've been here. The staff is usually very friendly. Meals are served on hard plastic plates with silverware. Food: This is a deli so they have a lot of sandwiches on their menu. But they also have flat bread pizzas, soups, salads, side items (no fries), and of course their signature item spuds (baked potatoes). You can tell that some of the items like the sliced chicken they put on the spuds and salads are processed. The deli meats seem freshly sliced. The general quality of the food on the menu is a lot higher than a fast food restaurant, but of lower quality than traditional sit down restaurants with the exception of the sandwiches. Atmosphere: When you walk inside you truly feel like you are in a deli of the past. The paintings, knick nacks, and pictures that adorn the building speak 50s. The music is very temperate and at times unnoticeable. They have a covered outdoor patio with ceiling fans that makes sitting outside enjoyable. You can easily spend a few hours here with friends enjoying sweet tea, and conversation. I think there is also free WiFi but I'm not sure. The inside has comfortable booths and tables in an air-conditioned environment. Price: Average per person is going to be around $8-$10 depending on wether or not you get a fountain drink or tea. I usually go for the pick any two for $5.99. You can choose any two items on the menu (including spuds). Each item will be a half portion, which for the spuds is one full size potato. This is a great way to get variety though. You can eat here with a spouse for lunch and share a tea for around $16 using the choose any two special. If you compare to a fast food place like micky d's, you're looking at $13-$17, so this is in my opinion a better value. Overall: McAlister's Deli is a great overall value with friendly service, and good food. Atmosphere promotes hanging out, and there are many shops within walking distance for a little exercise afterward. read more

My brother recommended McAlister's Deli to me as a good spot for a quick sandwich. There was actually a location relatively close to our old house in Denver, but I had never heard of it before. Anyway a couple of Saturday's ago my wife and I found ourselves within a couple of miles of their Mason location and we decided to stop in for lunch. The location of the deli is in the epitome of the northeastern Cincinnati suburban sprawl, but I won't hold it against them. Upon entering the front doors we walked down the center of the restaurant to the ordering counter at the back. An employee asked how many in the party and then pointed at the table where we should sit and pointed out the number on the table. We stepped up to a cashier, gave him our number, and then ordered from the rather large menu. My wife went with the spicy southwest chicken griller ($6.99), featuring sliced grilled chicken breast topped with guacamole, fire-roasted corn & poblano pepper relish, pepper jack cheese and chipotle ranch on a ciabatta roll. This sandwich is put on a panini press before being served. I stole a couple of bites and it was good, definitely spicy, but full of lots of different flavors. The price included a choice of side, and she went with the fruit. I went with the southwest turkey melt ($7.29) with a side of potato salad. This sandwich is layered with smoked turkey, applewood smoked bacon, pepper jack cheese, spicy guacamole and chipotle ranch, then topped with lettuce and tomato on a baguette. I didn't realize the similarities between what we ordered until the food had arrived, but I was definitely able to taste their similarities. I guess we are kind of predictable with our ordering. This sandwich was also good. The baguette was softer than I was expecting. Most times baguettes from delis are crunchy on the outside, but not this one. Overall I wouldn't go out of my way for lunch at McAlister's but it will do just fine if in the neighborhood. read more

I haven't been to McAlister's in over two years since I've been gluten free. I had heard they had gluten free bread but didn't know if this location did. I went in prepared to order a salad but was delighted to find they have gluten free bread! Yay!! It was DELICIOUS!! I will so be back. I don't think that's door dash fault, it seems like the restaurant can't fulfill to go orders quickly. Food arrived mediocre at best. Thrown together, sloppy, barely warm. The Mac n cheese was filled maybe 1/4 of the container. None of the food tasted fresh. I had a coupon : promo code that covered half the meal. I bought one, planning to give to my kids when I picked the up from school. I mistakenly tasted it. The kids have yet to try one. -they give me a huge cup of Arnold Palmer with awesome lemonade, leaving me seriously disappointed at other facilities on both the size of my beverage and quality. -they don't want me to clear my table....I just want raised that way.
