Well i was out and about at Menards today. I drove home down reading road. As I was driving through the city of Reading I spotted Lucy's Diner. Well it was lunch time and I twere hungry. So I circled back to their parking lot. Went inside. Was skeptical since a lot of the tiles inside the front door were missing their corners. Since I was now inside, and did not detect any weird odors. I preceded to sit in a booth near the kitchen. The friendliest waiter immediately brought me a menu and welcomed me. Informed me that I could never get a sammich anywhere that had has much bacon as their blt. Well I no longer eat bacon since I had a heart attack. I checked the menu over carefully and found the list of double deckers. I inquired if they had rare or even medium rare roast beef. Regretfully they do not. Lucy said they can not get it. Hmmm more thoughts of oh poop I picked a bad place. I ordered a ham and beef double decker with a side of awesome frys( says so on the menu). Well much to my shegrin the frys were awesome and super hot . The double decker was really good. I will most assuredly return . I really liked the food and the staff was extremely nice and friendly. I highly recommend Lucy's Diner.

Found this little hometown diner while out shopping in the area. Appears to be a local hangout. The ambiance could use an update but the service and food make up for it. We just had burgers and fries but they were juicy and delicious. Our waitress was efficient and helpful. She answered all our questions about the food and other things of interest.

Fish sandwich. Just what my daughter wanted!

Looking for a local casual place to have lunch? Go to Lucy's! Food is delicious, very reasonably priced, and ample portions! Lunch for 4 for about $30! And Lucy is right there working in the kitchen and at the register! We had beautiful fluffy French toast, a fish sandwich, side of goetta, a burger, and a plentiful ham and beef double decker! Get the special waffle fries as a side! We will definitely be back!

I thought they (slaw & banana pudding) were a little pricy for the size, but they were both tasted very fresh and delicous. I bought the slaw to make a slaw dog when I got home, but ended up eating it all up, as is. The banana pudding was absolutely delicious. I was so disappointed when I got home & realize 1/2 of it had spilled into my bag (my fault). For my son's birthday I ordered a large family size banana pudding. It did not disappoint! It was just as delicious as the individual one I had weeks earlier! I would say 3/4 cup would be a serving size. 13 people had some and some had 2nds and the birthday man had 3rds and we still had about a serving or 2 left over (b/c I hid it). I think b/c it was so good we wanted more of it, so depending on your group size & appetite you may want to order more than one or have other desserts on hand to either lure them away from the pudding or to have as back up (that's what I did). I do believe if I would've had another one the other desserts would've gone untouched. Honestly, I did think it was a little pricy for the size, especially since we had another tasty dessert just slightly smaller than the banana pudding size and it was $10. The fact that it was delicious helped, it would've been like adding insult to injury if it would've been pricy and nasty. Certhainly not the case here. Everyone absolutely enjoyed it! Thank you Vonderhaar's. *tip order at least 48hrs in advance, I ordered 24hrs in advance & got lucky. Truly, it's best to call & ask how much notice is needed. I'm currently dairy-free so I was pleasantly surprised by all the options, including Italian ice and dole whip. I got the seasonal dole whip flavor, lime, in a waffle cone...upgrading to the homemade waffle cone was worth it! Delicious. My family got a scoop of hand dipped ice cream and a sundae, and enjoyed them. We all thought the prices were pretty reasonable, especially compared to other ice cream spots in the area. The small scoop is $3.75, so I feel it's affordable to bring my kid out for ice cream versus somewhere else where it's six dollars a scoop. The menu is extensive, the staff is friendly, and the charm is unique. This is a must try!

Every Saturday we see them grilling out on the sidewalk on Wyoming avenue and wanted to stop by. It's such a fun tradition that's worth the stop off 75- you can take a walk around Wyoming Avenue to the Village Green or Crescent Park if it's a nice day! The shop is neat and cozy inside. They've got a great selection of wines and cold drinks. The only reason I took off a star is that the ordering process can be a little confusing. There was a handwritten sign for sandwiches, and some premade sandwiches in the case. But they looked a little bare- it wasn't clear that they came with toppings, could be warmed up, customized, etc. I took the leap and ordered one- the turkey and Colby on sourdough- and I found out that I could add toppings and that my bread was toasted. But I couldn't see them while making it to know whether it was made fresh or one of the ones in the display case. The sandwich was good- don't get me wrong! But it was a little basic for $13- mayo, lettuce, tomato (light on the toppings), red onion, and pickle. I think one thing that could've helped was some more specialty condiments- Dijon or dark mustard, a speciality aioli, etc. and the pickles were room temp dark green pickles (not fresh). Some fresh, crunchy homemade pickles would have taken this to the next level and really amplified that high quality meat that you're paying for. To the same point, none of the yummy looking salads or sides were labeled in the case. How much were they? Did they contain allergens? Could I get them as a side for my sandwich? Overall a great spot and we'll be back! But I'm left wondering if I'm getting the full experience or not because of the lack of ordering instructions inside. Oh- the staff were friendly and I'm sure could make up the difference! They happened to be busy because of the busy festival outside though, so I'm sure on a normal day they'd be able to provide more information.

Chef does explain the food before we had each dish, however we wished there was more background and history as to how this place came into being. So expect fantastic food without a lot of details. The first dish was a salad made with all local ingredients. It was so fresh and the dressing made with fresh dill was fantastic. The second dish was a ravioli with northern Italian cheese on a bed of butternut squash puree and brown butter. The pasta was SO delicate and the flavors complimented each other so well. The third dish was a 6 hour braised pork shoulder with ricotta gnocchi in a sauce with Calabrian chilis and I don't know what else. We have been to Italy and all the Italian restaurants in Cincinnati and never had anything like this. It was truly phenomenal. Dessert was a apple upside down cake served warm with whipped cream...fantastic. You bring your own wine, and Jordan is on it by never letting your glass get empty, pouring water, and clearing dishes. Service was so great and she is so friendly and accommodating. The cost was a very reasonable $100/pp and SO worth it. There is no menu, so you go in just devouring what Chef has prepared.
