I took a trip from Indianapolis in hopes of getting a grilled cheese that I purchased at Kings Island. My bubble was bursted after she told me they had a different menu. The restaurant was clean. The food was made to order. I loved the photos of the graduates.
It bums me out to give Tom & Chee a low rating because I really enjoyed their fun take on grilled cheese sandwiches when they first started expanding and we had one in Florida. We were excited to try them again but ultimately disappointed and not shocked that they haven't expanded more. First of all the good - good service that was friendly and helpful and a very clean (although sparse) restaurant. The menu was drastically slimed down with none of the fun options that I remembered. Streamlining is good but not when it takes away the soul of your restaurant. The food is just OK - everything tasted like something you could make at home for 1/10 of the price. You left hungry and with less money - why would you come back?
First time in when visiting from out of town. Cashier said to take my time and ask any q's. I had the cup of chili and 1/2 sandwich. Both were very good, although the blue cheese on the special chili was a miss. I would recommend sticking with the tried and true cheddar. Overall I liked as a good alternative to other similar establishments. If I come across one again or back in town: would definitely consider it for lunch.
We drive from Indy to Ohio with Tom & Chee on our minds! If you head to the Ohio outlets then be sure to stop here for some great grilled cheese combinations. The bacon, fig & goat cheese!!!!!! Just get it and thank me later! It also comes with caramelized onions and every bite is heaven! Pesto grilled cheese was so fresh and cheese! Hubby got the bacon chicken ranch and I saw his eyes roll back a few times. Ten out of ten. Loaded potato soup was seasonal and amazing!
Food is delicious. First time here. Cheese was melted perfectly. And the soup was good as well. Definitely a place I'll be returning too. The gentlemen at the cashier was so kind. Wish I had taken his name. I think I over heard him tell someone else he was a manager (ear hustling). In any case, the food is great. Definitely give this place a try. I'll be returning, Thank you.
I went with a family member for dinner and was shocked by how much I enjoyed the food. Delicious. Not the biggest portion in the world but it was really enjoyable. The service was quick and friendly, and the venue wasn't super busy. It was also very clean.
Visited on Saturday afternoon. They've just remodeled and the space is clean and new. I went in with my toddler unsure due to mixed reviews. I've been a bunch, just years ago when it was a new concept. Today we ordered a kids meal with Mac and a milk and I ordered a BFG (bacon fig and goat cheese). So delicious! The fig jam was sweeter than I expected but it was very good. My little loved his traditional grilled cheese. I do think this will be a special stop for us as the pricing is higher than regular fast casual for the items served. The kids meal is $6.99, the BFG is $8.99, and we tried one of the dessert options - cinnamon crunch donut with marshmallow mascarpone at $5.49. The cup of soup is $3.99, which has the least value, imho. Little one loved it so we'll be back and all the items were fresh and hot, service was very kind. A little bonus is this restaurant does employ individuals with high learning challenges and that is awesome! We made a friend while here and who can be grumpy after that!
Went back again and sad to say it wasnt great. We still liked the sandwhich but not as much. It was very oily and messy. Got the tomato basil soup and really hated it... tasted like spagetti sauce. If you go there in the winter dress warmly ... it was freezing. So cold we had to keep coats and scarfs on ... did i mention how messy the sandwhich was. Sighhh add dry cleaning bill ... So soup was awful and sandwhich not great ... didnt get cookie since last one was over cooked and tasteless. Long way to drive for us to freeze during lunch and not love it. Ohh what a diff experience this second visit was. Disappointing
There's not much I love more than Cincinnati and cheese, so both are what dreams are made of. Grilled cheese and tomato soup was my favorite lunch at school, but these sandwiches weren't made by your cafeteria ladies. I'm always so excited for the Flying Pig, but this time I ordered the pesto turkey. It was great, but I was disappointed in the service. My order was carry out, and the attendant didn't greet me at all - she just stared at me until I said my name, which I found rude. A simple "Hi, what's the name?" would have sufficed. After I payed, she thanked me and wished me a great day, but I was turned off by then. The Newport location is always friendly, so I might stick to them.

Every time I visit Tom + Chee, I always think the menu begs the question of "when does a grilled cheese just become a sandwich (after you add a bunch of other toppings)"? Regardless, I've always thought the food here was pretty consistent. I ordered the Flying Pig (White, Gouda, Bacon, Turkey, Pickles, Tarragon Mustard). The sandwich was delicious, though it's hard for something to taste bad when you put that much cheese on it. I've had some of the "dessert" dishes before too... the doughnut grilled cheese sandwich was one of the most beautiful moments of self-loathing I've ever had. Tom + Chee is always a safe choice!
The choices of different kinds and grilled cheese in this place is absolutely overwhelming, but in a good way I wanted to try one of everything but what I did try was all wonderful. I had the: Team Neighborhood wheat, pepper jack, bacon, award-winning mac & cheese, and hot sauce. I'm definitely going back to try the rest. read more
Really cool fast food concept. I would love to go back and try their other sandwiches. We got the Grilled Chee Donut and a Westsider with garlic parm tots. The tots were kind of the highlight for me. The young lady working the cashier was great and let me know if I filled out the survey we would get a free Grilled Chee Donut. Wish there was some locations in Columbus because I would be there for lunch! Overall, definitely recommend if around. Really cool fast food concept. Love Tom + Chee, and this location is A-OK! It is a large location with ample seating. The decor is like you're on the pages of a comic book, which is pretty cool and the yellow and red is pretty fun. The menu is my kindergarten self's dream come true. Various kinds of grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup(s). The tomato soup is kind of the coolest part. There are multiple styles, chunky or smooth so no matter your preference, they've got you covered. One of the most unique items on the menu is the grilled cheese donut. Yes the bun of this sandwhich is a glazed donut! OMG, yum! This place is a total guilty pleasure when it comes to food, and you will likely not feel good about anything you order or eat. But the plus is that everything on this menu is pretty great and satisfies that itch for comfort food. read more

What says comfort food like a grilled cheese and tomato soup, right? We had been to the Newport on the Levee location once and enjoyed our meal, so we were excited to hear about this newest location which is much closer to us. Tonight we decided to give it a go. Because it was a Friday dinner hour, we weren't surprised to find a line and all the tables filled. So, my daughter and hubby went to place our order while I was hovering for a place to sit. We were fortunate as I spotted a guy putting away his stuff like he was finished. After affirming that he was ready to leave, his wife invited me to sit as they got up to go. Another woman hurried over as she saw them leave only to be disappointed to realize that I wasn't part of their group and was staying. Oh well, this kind of things happens in restaurants like these. No problems. Hubby got swiss/mozzarella on sourdough with Creamy Tomato Basil soup. Daughter got Grilled Mac + Chee with Tomato Basil Soup while I got Cheddar/Swiss on Gluten Free Bread plus the Creamy Basil Tomato. First the bad: none of us cared for the tomato soup as we all agreed it was a little bit too acidic. My sandwich was nothing to write home about, but I do know how difficult it is to find a tasty gluten free bread. Now the good: They both enjoyed their sandwiches on sourdough. I really enjoyed a bite of the Mac + Chee sandwich and kudos to them for having a gluten free option. One of us decided to probably not go back while one of us would. So, there you have it. They do have an option for children - 1/2 grilled cheese, soup and drink for $3.95. Fruit/chips can be subbed for soup. I did ask the manager about the the poster for the Baker's Dozen Challenge. You win if you can down 13 grilled cheese donuts with a drink in one sitting with no bathroom breaks. You end up getting the food for free and your photo put up on their wall immortalizing you. Nobody has won so far, but a few have managed to down 6 or 7 at a time. So, you might want to try it if that's your thing. Was also surprised to find out that Tom + Chee started in Cinti!! Since they opened their first brick & mortar in 2010, they were visited by Man vs Food Nation, was named America's Best New Sandwich by The Today Show, was featured/won on Shark Tank and consequently opened lots of franchises across the country in 14! Amazinggggggggg!!!! My brother took me here for the first time and the menu looked amazing!! Didn't think a grilled cheese sandwich and a small bowl of soup would fill me up but it was sooooo good!! I ordered the west Philly and it was just so good and mouth watering!! The soup was average but still really good! read more
We loved this place! They let you do half sandwiches so I tried the Flying Pig and Crunchy Chicken. The pig was awesome...so flavorful, crunchy, buttery bread and smoked pork. I even enjoyed the pickles. The chicken sandwich had potato chips on it! Not really my thing but it tasted good. The hubby got the Philly cheese steak and it was the bomb! Soooo good, he loved it and I had to sneak a bite . The only thing not good was the tomato soup, which is surprising. I wanted thick, creamy, hearty soup and instead got a marinara sauce. I'd definitely come back despite the soup. Yumm! read more

FINALLY I have tasted Tom & Chee!! I have seen them on Shark Tank and have wanted to try them ever since then. I love trying items that I have seen on Shark Tank. I also really enjoy grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup. This location was very good and the staff was very nice. I loved the energy from the cashier at this location. I never got his name but he is a younger dark haired guy. He was very welcoming and silly. I love to be greeted by friendly staff. They have quite a bit to choose from. I couldn't decide if I wanted a melt or a basic grilled cheese. I decided to get a melt which actually tasted like a fancy plain grilled cheese. I ordered the Pesto Turkey Melt and my husband ordered the Flying Pig Melt. I ordered a side of their creamy tomato soup and my husband just got a bag of chips. My sandwich had turkey, mozzarella, tomato, and pesto. It was really good. My only complaint is they used the ends of the tomatoes so it was like big bulky slices instead of thin slices of tomatoes. Other than this it was good and tasted like a grilled cheese with a little extra added to it. My husband's sandwich consisted of smoked gouda cheese, turkey, bacon, and pickles. He really enjoyed his sandwich and had it with a bag of chips. My soup was pretty good. I liked the creaminess of the soup. I really do not have any complaints regarding the soup. Overall, I enjoyed Tom & Chee. This was my first time every trying them and I will definitely be back to try other items. When I want to have a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup this will definitely be my go to place. read more

This place is truly amazing! My family came here about a year ago to get some food before driving back home from our trip to the area. My sister got the Mac + Chee grilled cheese and it was amazing. I had to come back again whenever I had the chance so I could get the sandwich myself. This past weekend, I did just that and it was just as amazing! Great service still and social distancing, sanitization, and mask wearing was very much encouraged and enforce with staff. Would come back again! read more

We had received a gift card and we wanted get it used. It was a good food choice, although we didn't get a grilled cheese donut, we did have a grilled philly cheese steak and grilled chicken bacon ranch sandwich. They were both tasty, but we wouldn't drive out of our way to get to these southwest Ohio locations. read more

Who can not love a grilled cheese sandwich! I have a soft spot for Tom + Chee, they do comfort food the right way. The cheese is gooey and they have tomato soup for everyone's taste , classic, chunky or creamy! It is a little overpriced for a Grilled Cheese and Soup, but its so good you forget about it. The star of this place is their Grilled Cheese Donut, talk about glorious sweet, savory, going to clog your arteries kind of "dessert" (Surprisingly enough it only comes to about 360 calories, who knew!?)... they have them in all kind S'mores, Banana and Peanut Butter, or you can create your own. It's simply delicious. My one and only problem with this location is that no matter what time of the day it is, there is always a long wait for what should be "fast food", multiple times I had to wait more than 20 minutes for the food. At least the wait for food is good while you hunt down where you are going to seat, it seems that there are never any tables available. read more
