This restaurant is very deceiving in a good way. It's a very small space with barely any seating but with a pleasant vibe. The staff were friendly enough. We were seated immediately and literally had to squeeze into our table (no leg or elbow room). They added a chair to the end of the table to accommodate our party of 5. We were debating whether or not we had made a good choice until our food came out (it was a longer wait than expected). The portions are very generous (each plate could easily serve two people) and beautifully decorated. We all enjoyed every bite of food on our plates. Everything was freshly made and delicious. We were happy we stuck around and waited. So if you have time, don't mind small spaces and want some delicious food, I recommend you stop by.

The plan this week was to go to breakfast/brunch two different days, and I am so happy that we happened to start that adventure with a trip to Izzy's 33. The choice to go here was made due to the fact we have an engagement in South Philly. However, Jen simply pulled up a list of places in the area and picked here. After looking at the menu though, we knew we had likely locked in on a perfect place. Not only is the menu extremely extensive, but it also has an almost unending plethora of Mexican and Central American inspired brunch choices that had me trying to make selections two nights before we were even going to go. After stopping nearby at the place we needed to attend first, we leisurely made our way to the 1700 block of ninth street, and were amazed to find parking right in front. From years of working in the area and dealing with parking and driving here, finding a space with absolutely zero issue right off the bat was already a recipe for success and obviously just a sign of the boon to come. The little cafe is tucked away into what appears to at one point, likely many years ago, to have been a classic center row home. It's not an end property, and despite the space inside being quite roomy for what it is, it's a narrow corridor with the seating up front, prep and serving area in the center, and kitchen in the rear. Very cute, and everything inside has this older wooden feel to it, as if plucked from an old bookstore. We only had the opportunity to converse with one staff member, our server; she was not only wonderful, upbeat, and friendly, but also helpful, guiding us to a nearby location to get banana leaves for tamales I planned to make later in the week. That's just the beginning because I haven't even gotten to the food. This was one of the best breakfasts I have had in a very long time. The Huevos Enmolados was so outstanding, not only did I finish the perfectly build stack of tostadas with all the ingredients stacked deliciously on top, but also asked for a small bowl of tortilla chips to scoop up the remaining mole that had become its own unique sauce amalgamation with the runny eggs and cheese and other flavors. I cannot overstate how wonderful this was. If I could have physically stomached a second meal, I would have ordered a complete second portion and eaten that too. Jen's carnitas skillet was also outstanding, although I only had a taste. We also had a side of scrapple which was delivered perfectly crisp and molten inside, steaming hot like forbidden meat-lava. Even the local classics are done perfectly here. Not only is Izzy's 33 worth visiting if you live in the city, if you are in the area at all, this place warrants a trip for breakfast or brunch. It is a premiere experience at a reasonable price especially for the city. I am sure there may be places that have a different selection, or may be preferable to some people, but for everything they offer, I don't think they can be beat; at least not easily. Do yourself a favor and get in here today and enjoy some of their unique offerings. I can guarantee that you'll enjoy.

This was a totally unexpected surprise and I'm so happy we finally made our way to Izzy's! We have talked about coming here for months and I just kept cancelling at the last second to go somewhere I knew I liked, but this was a well worth trip! We came for Sunday breakfast and went with the Bandeja Mexicana and the huevos mexicana, both were delicious! I was sad when we got there that the huevos mexicana were no longer on the menu, but was so thankful that they made them for me! The menu does update every so often and check the specials on the wall out, we didn't notice them till after we ordered. The service was timely. The ambiance is a little odd with the early 2000's top hits playing and there is not much decor inside, but the food was well-worth the trip! I look forward to returning again soon!

This place is super cute, and the food is excellent! Must try would have to be one of their loaded French toasts. It might look heavy, but it's actually light and filled with flavor! The presentation of the food is also really nice!

We visited our son recently in Philly where we always enjoy the restaurant scene. He has been raving about this new breakfast spot a short walk from his apartment so we made sure to pay a visit. He did not over sell it! All four of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. They have two "sections" to the menu, sweet and savory. I went for the latter and being a huge Mexican food fan, that's what I did pictured below. One of the single best breakfast items ever!

    TRES LECHES iced coffee
    Suf L.

We have discovered their tres leches iced coffee, which is basically a caffeinated milkshake (in a good way). Additionally, we've become fatties and order 2 savory meals to split and also something sweet. All this for like $35 a person, which for a brunch in the city, isn't bad! Be prepared to wait a little if you have a party any bigger than 2, but it's worth it. I also just learned they have a private event space for up to 25 people!

    Breakfast Burger

Ordered on DoorDash. Packaging was not the best - paper containers did not have option for tight seal which meant some of French toast contents leaked in the bag/on other container. Food was yummy and would love to go back in-person.

What a hidden gem! I wish I discovered this place sooner! Amazing"homemade" food, clean space, and very friendly service. Menu is very rich of anything you could possibly want. Kids menu too. What a great spot! I cannot wait to come back!

    Carmel iced coffee

This place has to be one of the best and underrated breakfast spots in philly. The iced coffees taste better than your local starbucks. You can come here for traditional american foods as well as mexican breakfast. Both are pretty damn good. It hasnt gotten that busy on weekends yet but I'm pretty sure word will get out and there will be a line at brunch.

If u like French toast this is the place to go! The brioche bread they use is everything! It's BYOB so my friends and I brought a bottle of Prosecco. The inside dining is limited and small but other than that this place is a gem

I was looking to try a different restaurant for breakfast and was intrigued by Izzy's 33 menu. I arrived and was seated immediately. This location is small but super cute. I ordered coffee and HUEVOS A LA MEXICANA (Scrambled eggs with Sautéed onions, jalapenos and tomato served with pinto beans, queso fresco tortilla chips and avocado). So good! I will definitely be back and I want to try something from the crepe menu! I knew I would love Izzy's because patrons waited outside for seats to become available.

This small BYOB restaurant is near the corner of 9 and Morris. My husband and I got here around noon and it was crowded. The dining room is small but not too overcrowded. They put cushions to sit people by the window. I like the red wall with gold accent on the ceiling trim and bathroom door because it gives a fancy look. The restaurant is nicely decorated with a small pot of plant on each table. We were served right away. On the menu they make crepes after 4 PM. There's a special menu on the blackboard. The menu has regular breakfast items and also some Mexican dishes such as chilaquiles and enchilada My husband ordered breakfast burger, which I never encountered before. It had burger patty with hash brown, egg, and bacon. He enjoyed it very much. He selected a bowl of fruit as side. The fruit bowl is bigger than those that are usually served in diners. Meanwhile, I ordered special item: crab meat omelette. My waitress asked what side I would like. The choices are salad, fruit, or home fries. I opted for the salad. When I got the food, it came with 2 slices of toasted white bread. I wished they offered wheat. They were generous with the size of the salad and the amount of crab meat. Unfortunately, my omelette was very salty. I understand that crab meat is salty but I felt like it was brined in salt. It's very rare to find me not finishing my food. This time I couldn't finish it because I could feel my blood pressure went up because how salty it was. They accept card payment but it is cheaper to pay with cash. I might give this place another try maybe the Mexican dish

This was my first time visiting this restaurant. I arrived with my wife and 2 kids 6 minutes past 8am, which is when they open. We stood in the entrance for about 2 minutes before someone who was walking through the back area saw us standing around. We were seated quickly as we were the only ones there. We quickly noticed a smell that was not pleasant. Musty maybe? Not sure, but my wife had some type of allergic reaction, watery itchy eyes and a sneeze attack as soon as we sat down. We ordered some food, the breakfast platter for the kids to share, huevos rancheros for me and the Mexican breakfast for my wife. I was pretty surprised about the 35 min wait, especially since there were no other customers, but once our food arrived we could see the attention to detail. The food was really yummy, plentiful and hot. Hot in temperature and in spice. My wife and I tried to share some of our meals with the kids but they were too spicy for them. I did wish there was an indication of spice level on the menu, but I didn't see that. So why only 4 stars you ask? Though the food was delicious and beautifully plated, I was a bit disappointed with the attention to detail for the customers. Our server only came to the table once to see if we needed anything and it was toward the end of our meal. As I was asking for something, she began walking away missing half of my sentence, which meant more work for her since she had to grab that item, come back and go back again for the other item I was planning on asking for on her first trip back to the kitchen. At this point there were 3 other tables with customers but still the wait staff was very sparse. Once we finished, my kids and wife left the restaurant because my kids couldn't wait any longer and I sat at the table for 8 minutes by myself, with my credit card in hand, waiting to pay. 4 tables full of customers and zero staff on the floor is never ideal. Would I come back here? Maybe delivery since the food was really great, but not with the kids again.

We have eaten at the high tops, in the main dining room, and at the tables extending into The Harper lobby, and each area feels like part of the same unified experience. The colors and lighting inside are especially warm and inviting, giving the room a glow that feels cozy and uplifting, especially during a Philadelphia winter. Food remains at the center of the experience, and my order is always the Jerusalem bagel with egg and cheese. On the rare occasions when turkey bacon appears, I add it as a welcome delicacy and a little extra sustenance, though the bagel is already delicious on its own. The cinnamon sugar kubaneh, the chocolate chip cookie, and the Bloody Mary are excellent. K'Far has also expanded its selection of bowls and salads since we ate here most regularly, and they look consistent with the quality of everything else. These days, a full breakfast here does not always fit within our budget, but I still make a point of stopping in for OX Coffee, which is delicious and, happily, roasted in Philadelphia. The Yemenite latte is another distinctive pleasure, aromatic and satisfying without feeling like a novelty created merely for attention. The staff is consistently charming, welcoming, and composed, and the team's continuity and energy suggest that people genuinely enjoy working here. When our budget allows, I will absolutely return to eat. Perhaps the clearest expression of K'Far's brilliance arrives in one memory from a cold, radiantly sunny Saturday, when "Inspector Norse" by the Norwegian producer Todd Terje comes through the speakers as the restaurant buzzes around us. The track, the worldly crowd, and the aroma from the kitchen create the elusive feeling Steve Cook and Mike Solomonov understand so well: people go out to eat because they want to feel seen and be briefly transported into a more vivid version of life. I already love K'Far and The Hoxton as separate brands, so seeing them come together at The Hoxton in Williamsburg feels like an unusually natural and exciting partnership. Creating this kind of social magnetism inside a bakery and café is a subtle achievement, and Philadelphia is richer for having a place with this much flavor, warmth, and personality.
