Their summer menu doesn't disappoint the Mayan pumpkin seed hummus was creamy, tangy, nutty, spicy altogether, I couldn't get enough. The carnitas were fantastic too, the pork was incredibly flavorful and tender. You can tell it was high-quality. Everything it came with was amazing too. I'm so happy they make their corn tortillas, the difference is very noticeable if you've never had a fresh one. Loved the outdoor seating and the music. Servers are very friendly and don't bother you too much which I love. The manager, Ricardo, is super kind and friendly! I love saying hi when I visit. I will be back a lot this summer!
First time spending Taco Tuesday at Sor Ynez. This location is huge. There is ample amount of cute outside seating and equally as spacious on the inside. I chose to enjoy the breeze and sit outside. The waiter was very attentive. I ordered a margarita ( it was just okay), chicken and fish tacos ( both were good), and guac with chips ( it was okay). The taco Tuesday deal was unlimited tacos for $25. So I decided to partake in the happy hour deals. The tacos were $8 for two, the margarita was $9. Guac was not on the happy hour menu and it was $14. Nice to space to visit with a group of friends or co workers.
Stopped by here after visiting next door. Our server was an absolute delight! Made extremely helpful recommendations. Guacamole was to die for and loved the mango margarita! Will definitely be back.
Went to Sor Ynez for the first time with some colleagues, we had a reservation and were seated promptly - although there were lots of tables both inside and outside so I'm not entirely sure if a reservation is needed. The ambiance is very nice, super cute place! I really liked their location as well since there's a pretty big parking lot right outside which really makes arriving there much easier. We shared a couple of appetizers for the table and I really liked the shrimp ceviche (forgot to take a picture of it) and the guacamole of course. For my entree I ordered the Shrimp Al Ajillo with Mezcal and that was the real star of the show for me, it tasted really good! Glad to have had this experience.
Had a fantastic meal on Friday at Sor Ynez. Looking back, I am shocked at how empty this place was for a Friday night. This is technically in Olde Kensington but it is a very safe area and they have parking. I started with a regular margarita which was delicious. The waitress was very through explaining the different options. They had some specials like soft shell crab that I skipped because I am a vegetarian. We ended up ordering the queso cheese (which was actually a grilled type cheese), Tlacoyos, and Enchiladas. The queso fresco was delicious. It was special that this came with ramps. They are extremely seasonal and I always love them when I have them. My favorite dish was the tlacoyos. I had never had them before but the masa patties stuffed with black beans was so warming but also fresh. Highly recommend them. For our main, we split the enchiladas. There were three in the serving. They were stuffed with potatoes and cheese. I really liked the sauce that they were in, it was a little tangy from tomatoes I think. I could have done without the cauliflower on top, but the avocado and pickled onions really cemented the dish. After we ate our meals, I was extremely full but still opted for tres leche. They change the flavor periodically and this time it was strawberry. Light and fluffy but also sweet and comforting. I really enjoyed it. Our waitress was attentive even though it seems like she was running every table, inside and out. I would definitely come back here. It's a priority to come here when it's nice to enjoy their patio. I don't think you need a reservation so it's and easy restaurant to find time to try. Can't wait to come back.
By returning for happy hour we already knew what we liked, and what would be a hard pass. So we duplicated drinks. While my strawberry margarita was good, it wasn't as fruity as it was last month. When T and I shared a second glass, the drink was brighter and better. My husband enjoyed Sor Ynez's carnitas tacos. I didn't. So we got an order of carnitas for him and another of fish for me. With two tacos to an order I made it clear to T that he would have to eat both of his, and I would get both of mine. (I can be pushy that way!) I asked if one dinner portion of mussels is larger than two happy hour portions. Same number of mussels, same price... so we got two smalls. Without us asking, the waiter went on and on about their pork tamales. So, we tried one and added a shrimp tostada to the mix. The tamale tasted like cornbread doused in tomato sauce. (Where's the pork?) But the tostada was great! Last Friday was sunny and brisk. Though not my preference, I expected we'd eat inside. But no! Some tables on the patio have overhead heaters! It would've been great EXCEPT a bunch of parents with toddlers showed up; the semi-supervised kids ran around willy-nilly. It wasn't the happy hour I envisioned..... I know, I know. Bah humbug.
Stopped in for a late lunch on a Saturday and we were able to be seated immediately. The space was really nicely decorated and would be a cute dinner date space! We ordered guacamole as a starter. It was a smooth texture and so flavorful! The chips were crunchy and paired well. They even gave us more chips even though we had demolished the guac! For an entre, I ordered the Birria tacos. They were so delicious! The meat was tender and juicy. It was nice to have the green sauce, onions and cilantro on the side to be able to add how much I needed for each bite. The consume was flavorful and thick; perfect for dipping. I came in fairly hungry and was pleasantly surpised but how full I was after the app and entre! The meal was a little pricier but was some of the best guac and birria I've ever had!
Went here to celebrate by birthday. We really liked the drinks. The food was good but I feel like I have had better. There were not many people there so it was easy to be seated and the gods came quickly. Serves was good. The old fashion was probably my favorite thing and the tres leches was my least favorite of what we ordered.
My friends and I went for happy hour and we have heard very great things about the restaurant but we were disappointed. Usually I would give a 3 star for places that I think are okay where the vibes are chill for an average place but then I ate the fish tacos and there 5-6 fish bones in the tacos and I need to go to the ENT now just in case the bone is embedded in my flesh. They still charged me for the taco even though I asked for bread because was literally trying to get the fish bone out somehow
Came for the happy hour and it was pretty decent. Highly recommend the margs, they were delicious, I especially liked the blood orange marg. Elote was perfectly cooked and smothered in mayo & butter; a perfect light app. For the tacos, they're happy hour sized and comes with 2 per serving. I preferred the fish tacos over the birria ones; nothing to rave about but worth it for the price. Also tried the tamale. I'm not sure I would get it again. Overall, food was just ok for happy hour, likely wouldn't return as it was a little out of the way for me. I would be interested in trying their regular menu. Restaurant is beautifully decorated and the outdoor seating seemed really cool too but sadly it was too cold to sit outside. The service was good.
Usually I like to sit inside at a bar or restaurant but the sit up outside here is really nice and the weather was good so I decided to dine outside. I went for happy hour work and they have a nice selection of food and drink offers 4-7. I got a spicy blueberry margarita, city wide and birria tacos. ( the happy hour tacos are different than regular menu )
We went for Philly Vegan Restaurant week and the food was phenomenal! Everything was super tasty and we were especially blown away by the enchiladas, Brussels Sprouts, and Sikil Pak. Also the spicy marg was really spicy, but in an enjoyable way not in a burn your face off way. We'll definitely be back.
Delicious food, freshly prepared with quality ingredients. Our server, Justin, was fantastic and very helpful. Don't be alarmed when you pull up and see a huge parking lot as sure enough, the restaurant is there . Their outside space is massive but the inside restaurant is a bit on the small side. We were very impressed with everything and will be back!
Happy hour review! This is a great spot for drinks and small bites. The guac and chips aren't part of the happy hour menu and was kinda expensive but the guac was good. The tamal was super yummy and maybe one of the best I've had in a while. The filling was delicious. Marg was standard and good. The outside dining area is spacious and great for enjoying the weather read more
We tried Sor Ynez based on other Yelp reviews while we were in Philly, and so glad we did. It was awesome getting to sit outside for dinner thanks to the gorgeous garden-like setting they've created. This was not the view you'd expect in an otherwise industrial area, but it was beautiful. Greenery, plants, murals, nice seating. Lovely. We had a party of 4 and ordered 4 different entrees to sample everything. The carne asada was a huge hit, I personally loved the chicken milanesa, we had the birria, and the carnitas. We also had an order of the chips and salsas which was unlike anything we've ever had - the salsas were a pumpkin hummus and a verde salsa, both were excellent. The staff was beyond friendly, although the service was slightly spotty and slow (I perceived a couple of the people to be new), but we had no complaints at all aside from waiting a long time for our checks. It was my 2-yo's birthday as well and they brought him a complimentary flan. Really nice gesture. Would highly recommend! read more

super cute place to go! I love coming because one the food is really good and two there is a lot of outdoor seating (covered and uncovered). Inside they have large tables for big groups of people and the doors to the outside open and shut. service is a little slow to start you off, plenty of time to figure out everything you want to order before they come back to take your order. the margs are well balanced. they source their corn from mexico and make all their stuff in house. we got four dishes to share and were very happy with the results. they have a parking lot which is nice to have someplace to park. overall this is a great option especially on a nice day! read more
After attend the exhibit at NextFAB in the same building we heard the latin jazz music and walked over for food and drinks. The best word for the servers and bar tender is aloof. We walked in and no one attended to us, so I walk over to the bar and the bar tender turned his back to us! Then we approached another person and he said,"sit anywhere." My wife mention her allergy to alcohol, so she ask for lemonade. How can you get such a specific thing wrong? They did! she felt sick it after a zip of her lemonade. I specifically ask for nothing hot! A few bites into my order I bit into a hot pepper! From our order to our service we waited long periods of time. I had an old fashioned. It was good but scant. I ask for a 2nd and it took so long we simply asked for a check. With all the apology from our server there was no discount. I have attached a photo of the nite. Pretty empty for bad service! For this one no 2nd chance. Sorry read more
This restaurant has very nice and cute outdoor seatings. Very big parking space. For appetizers, we ordered chips and salsa. There are 2 kinds of salsa: red and green. They are fresh and not super spicy. Octopus and shrimp cocktail was good too with fresh avocado. It come with saltines but I prefer use the tortilla chips. Entree: birria tacos. Unfortunately it's a miss. The consommé didn't have much flavor and it's on the salty side. The beef was tender but not flavorful enough. Dessert: goat cheese flan. It's denser than traditional flan. Not too tangy and not too sweet. A unique twist of the regular flan. I really like it. read more

Adored this spot.... The decor inside is very nice and so was the service. Food feels simple and fresh and so delicious. I got the vegetarian bfast tacos w soy chorizo and they were yum and filling. They also did a great Hot oat cappuccino and WOW if u order one thing for sure get the goat cheese flan...Such a creamy texture and interesting quite sweet (good to share) and slightly slightly tart taste. With the caramel it was so perfect. Friend and i had a wonderful time. And a detail i dont usually pay much attention to, but just had to mention is the cutlery and plates. They are all absolutely gorgeous, heavy and u can tell really great quality. Just made the meal all the better. I can't wait to come back! read more

Beautiful interior and exterior off the busy street. Best part of this place is that it has a parking lot. I came for happy hour on a Friday and it was not crowded at all. In fact, I was the first customer to walk in. It was slightly irritating that they decided to sit the next customer at the table right next to us when the entire restaurant was empty. The drinks here were very well made. The tacos and tostada on the happy hour menu were very tiny. Overall, food was delicious and service was quick. read more
I had never heard of Sor Ynez and am so glad my friend had his birthday brunch there. Beautiful patio that is great for groups. Our server was lovely - attentive without being overbearing and very friendly. I ordered the guacamole to share with the table - yummy and good size to split. The breakfast down with bacon was amazing. The potatoes were well seasoned and crispy. The eggs were a little too runny for my preference, but still tasted great. Cannot wait to return! read more

Sor Ynez is in the New Kensington neighborhood, in an area that is not very busy and surrounded by warehouses. It could be quite a walk for some... If you rather drive, there is ample and free parking in the parking lot. The outdoor dining area was spacious and super cute, but we opted to sit inside since it was a hot day. Sor Ynez's menu looked great. I like that they offer a variety of vegetarian options. A quick glance at the beverage menu, and I'm seeing craft beers from Mexico - not Corona, Tecate, etc, they have that too - but actual craft beers. They also have Mexican wine! Mexican wine from Guadalupe Valley to be specific. As (red) wine enthusiasts and never having tried Mexican wine before, we were very excited to try the Petit Syrah from this region. Unfortunately, they did not have it in stock. So, my husband and I ended up ordering cocktails, while our friend had the Chenin Blanc from Guadalupe Valley. For food, the three of us split a guacamole appetizer, and each ordered our own entrees of Birria tacos, Alt Pastor (cauliflower) burrito and Mushroom Carnitas tacos. The guacamole was pricey but was better than average. My husband and our friend enjoyed their tacos, but I thought my Alt Pastor burrito was just all right. It was a very dense and carb heavy burrito, with I hate to say this, zero Al Pastor flavors. I wouldn't mind coming back again and trying their other stuff. I still need to try that Petit Syrah from Guadalupe Valley! read more

Visited Sor Ynez with a fellow Yelper and friend for lunch - it was a great spot! A little further out of the city, it's best accessible via car, but luckily, there's plenty of parking. They have a cute outdoor space near the parking lot, but we were there in the early spring, so not quite outdoor weather yet. The restaurant is decently large inside, and the decor is so cute - loved the bright colors and abstract design on the walls and the unique netting hanging from the ceiling! We were seated at a tucked away table in the back, so it was nice to be a touch more removed. Our server was patient as we took our time deciding on our order, and they were helpful in giving some recs too. The menu is fairly expansive, and on the weekend, there was a good variety of more breakfast / brunch themed items and more lunch offerings, so you could really pick any path. They did have cocktails and other drinks, but we just stuck to water for this visit (although would love to visit for a HH in the future). We split the patas bravas, which were a great starter - the potatoes were so crispy, and I loved the slightly spicy chipotle mayo that accompanied them. For my main, I opted for the breakfast tacos, which were delightful. They were full of many ingredients that alone are fantastic but when together really shined - particularly, I loved the chorizo paired with the egg and the oaxaca cheese and pickled onion partnered with the dish. The made-in-house tortilla was a great vehicle for the goodies - it was substantial enough to withstand the taco. I so much appreciate that they outlined the creation of the tortilla on the menu - they are made with corn sourced from Mexico, which is a lovely touch and worth mentioning! My friend enjoyed her meal as well, opting for the chickpea scramble. The prices are fair for the quality and quantity, but again, I'm interested in trying HH so that I can try some beverages and other food items at a slightly discounted price. We really enjoyed our lunch at Sor Ynez - loved the vibe and the Mexican food is authentic and excellently crafted. I only wish it was closer to the city and more accessible! read more
I went here for a celebration for a few coworkers. This place was new to me so when I pulled up I was a little confused as to where it was. Once I figured out that it was an old warehouse transformed into a restaurant I saw the vision. There is outside and inside seating which is nice for those beautiful spring and summer evenings. The food, drinks and service were awesome! Great portions and great prices. Even the happy hour menu is great! read more
This place was really just ok. The shrimp tostada tasted super sour and the shrimp didn't taste fresh. The tacos looked good but the flavor just didn't hit. Not super flavorful/forgettable. While we were there for happy hour and didn't pay astronomical prices, I was pretty disappointed with the food. The one redeeming factor was the guac, which lol was bombbb. I also didn't really like the "chips", I think it was just a large fried/baked tortilla/tostada. I would probably only come here again to try the full menu as hopefully it tastes better than the HH menu. read more

Sor Ynéz is an authentic Mexican restaurant that offers a remarkable & inviting ambiance. I took advantage of their dinner happy hour on Thursdays and Fridays, which runs from 5-7pm. I ordered their adobo grilled chicken tacos, which were served on a delicious heirloom blue corn tortilla. The combination of queso greco, cilantro, and habanero salsa resulted in a symphony of flavors that left me craving for more. The grilled chicken meat was very juicy and an absolute standout. Sat at the bar, amazing service. The music is vibes and it makes Sor Ynéz is the perfect spot for a memorable date night. read more
I wish the food had more flavor. Go for the mezcal. Never get the churros and just sit and drink mezcal. Everyone raves about this place and the staff is helpful but honestly, to be in such a heavy Latinx community (maybe dwindling) the food should have more punch, more layered flavor... it should taste like it's been cooking and stewing all day versus a quick sear. Nonetheless, staff cute and helpful, attentive and clean. No I would not return for the food but a quick stop for mezcal and chips would hit the spot read more
