Not bad! This is the second time I have eaten out in Beacon and been pleasantly surprised. We shared a couple special rolls (godzilla, and salmon love), gyoza, and a couple miso soups. The rolls were very good. Healthy portions of fish and avocado, the right amount of caviar and tobiko, good flavors, rice was cooked perfectly. Gyoza has become one of my favs, and these didnt disappoint. The soup was standard miso and tasty as expected. Prices are also excellent. Even the special rolls are only around $10. And the beer? $3.75 for Sapporo is the cheapest I have ever seen! The place itself was nice as well. Decent size, good noise level (even though it was packed) allowed for easy conversation. The fluorescent lighting was a bit much along the back wall so I would suggest sitting somewhere else if possible. But overall it was a good time and we were the last to leave. This place is bad. The service is way to fast. They don't allow you to enjoy your food. The tables are too small to accommodate for all the food they bring out, because you get it all at once rather than spaced out. The food overall is terrible. The crab rangoons were stale and disgusting. The sushi there is also not fresh and bad tasting. The rice is even bad, white rice and pork fried rice tasted store bought and microwaved rice! The sesame seed chicken again was stale and felt like it was sitting around for days. The egg roll was even poor. The only good thing enjoyed between a few people today was miso soup that was brought out, and even that was mediocre at best. Would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Just left the best dinner I've had in I don't know how long. The sushi was amazing and great portions. I also had the garlic chicken and vegetables which was fantastic. We ended dinner with the green tea mochi which was the perfect size to end the meal, amazing. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. The food here is alright, except they have a nasty habit of trying to charge you more than the price. On a few occasions, I ordered the bento box, which while yummy, cost $2 more than the price on the menu. They went and showed me a menu that had the price they charged me. I then walked over to the stack of menus (from which our menu had been received) and showed them that the price was $2 less. Blah blah blah.. the point is, you can't give us one menu, wait until we've eaten the food, and then charge us more. This happened a few times, before we simply stopped going. It's a shame, really.. but enough is enough. It's just not worth arguing with them at the end of the meal, it makes things unpleasant. Oh well. read more

A friend suggested that we eat there because he'd heard such great things. I could hardly understand the waitstaff, and they didn't understand me because when I ordered a glass of iced tea, I got a can of coca cola with a glass of ice. I requested that this be exchanged for iced tea. They gave me a can of iced tea. I should have kept the coke. The food was good enough, but the descriptions in the menu are not; and it was impossible to ask for any kind of clarification because of the language barrier. So food was good started off all right. But I have never had anything like this happen to me before in all of my time in the l restaurant business. Half way through our meal all of the employees came out to eat. So one guy was sucking noodles so loud and not chewing with his mouth open. I mean we were the only table in the restaurant but this loud cow chewing noise was absolutely disgusting. He was cracking beans or some sort of vegetables in his mouth then spitting them out. Visited this local gem since we wanted an upscale high version of traditional Chinese cuisine. Ordered: pork dumplings (gyzo), crab rolls, General tso chicken, wonton, egg rolls, malaysian chicken. Everything was good but our favorite was the pork dumpling, thin skin filled with meat, and Malaysian chicken. The egg roll had a good amount of pork inside as well. Service: good, friendly, food was ready quickly. 3.5 star- limited roll options esp since we don't eat shrimp. And wish the general chicken was less breaded. We haven't tried anything else yet for me to grade further. Will visit again read more

Decent food, service was not good at all. Had some eel sashimi, which was pretty good not great. Also tried a sashimi salad, that was very good and would recommend. My brother had the chicken tempura which he was not a fan. The bf had a noodle stir fry, which he liked. If it was not for the service, I would have given them 4 stars. They always seem to mess up an order, whether it be a small detail or an entire meal. I've been here about a half dozen times and they've messed something up each and every time. They forget to include things, they forget to omit things, they give me something completely different than what I've asked for. I usually would order take-out, but even when my fiancee and I have gone to sit down for dinner, they've managed to mess something up. Possibly the most irritating issue, however, is that they never, ever separate your hot and cold food when you pick up an order, EVEN if you SPECIFICALLY ask them to. Isamu could compete with any number of sushi places in NYC. The fish is always fresh and the prices are very reasonable. The special rolls are creative but not too wacky and are a surprisingly good value. There's great variety on the menu and I've never ordered anything that I didn't thoroughly enjoy. Favorite sushi: white tuna, yellow tail, eel (I don't know why, but the eel here is really good and I don't usually like eel) Favorite rolls: godzilla roll, spider roll, spicy crunchy yellowtail roll, ocean chic (riceless) Favorite hot food: Isamu Duck Wraps, chicken and eggplant in garlic sauce, chicken shumai They serve wine, beer, and sake now. I like the nigori sake with my sushi--it's unfiltered so shake the bottle before you open it! It's a nice space, and doesn't get too loud. I like to sit at the sushi bar and watch the color of the lights on the wall change slowly throughout my meal. Im a young kid who just got into anime and my gate way show is naruto and I was begging to eat some ramen. I came here with my uncle and I loved it. I had the egg noodles with beef and broth. My brother got the same thing and my uncle had the beef lo mein and we y'all were amazed. Also I'm too young to drink but my the bar looked great at least amazing presentation for a teenager. Overall the food is good if you're on a tight budget. However, small improvements could be made to make the food excellent, along with the overall experience. After coming here fairly regularly for about three years, I've stopped eating in. The dressing for their simple green salad is great- if they could have a variety of greens for the bed of the salad instead of iceberg, the salad would match the dressing. Some of the servers are fantastic. However, some are awful, and they ruin that for the rest. Last time I ate in, I was with my youngest brother(still in high school), and two of his friends. We each ordered about 2 different types of rolls (veggie, Philadelphia, etc) except for my brother (who ordered a beef negimaki bento box), and as a table, we ordered garlic sautéed eggplant. After ordering, a family of about 6(grandparents, parents, children) came in, sat down, and ordered. The bento box arrived quickly, which was nice. What was not nice was the fact that the waitress tossed it at my brother... It didn't even land in front of him. I thought because the bento box had arrived that the rest of our food would arrive within around 10 minutes.. The eggplant came out about five minutes after the bento box- over cooked, not very garlicky, and extremely sweet. We waited almost a half an hour for our cold sushi rolls to arrive- in total it was about 40 minutes, which would've been a perfectly fine wait time if the bento box came out with it. The family who came after us all ordered salads, and a mixture of hot and cold dishes... They were finished with their meal and about to order dessert as our sushi arrived- irritating. I understand there are time differences in food arrival based on the order, but this was too much. It wasn't even that busy... Probably about 2 groups of 2, my group, and the family. When we told the waitress about the eggplant, we asked if it could be remade or we could get a refund, after a sigh and an eye roll, we were informed that they "don't do that." The icing on the cake was that as I signed for the meal, the waitress told me I needed to leave a tip... I left one dollar-which I regret. Nobody is required to leave a tip, how dare you give such service and have the audacity to request a tip. I am fairly young, and I look even younger. Young customers tend to be treated poorly... Why? I'll never know. Quite confusing to me because my $10 is worth the same amount as anyone else's. Pay attention to detail, customer service, and stop asking for tips when you clearly don't deserve them, and this place could easily be four or five stars read more

Decided to give the dining in experience here another try. Huge mistake. On a hot summer day, the the air conditioning wasn't turned on (or maybe it was just on very low?) and my sushi was warm- not very appetizing. My waitress was rude as usual- plopped my food in front of me and acted as if I was inconveniencing her by being there. Despite the fact that I was the only person in the place, she never came back to check on me, yet I could hear her chatting loudly with another waitress in the back and another guy working there had to tell her that I was waiting. Usually the food here is good, but the service is always horrible. Good customer service is huge- I would suggest management work on this because judging by other reviews on here, this seems to be a big problem that will hurt your business. read more
