What a beautiful interior! I was hoping this would become my new salon because it is so close to my house and is conveniently located next to both of my preferred grocery stores. Unfortunately, the services and variety of styles/colors are extremely limited. I wasn't offered a very friendly welcome and was under the impression I was a nuisance for requesting an acrylic fill while unsure of which Chrome colors they had available. I was ushered to a chair and 150 artificial nails (some on key rings and some in books) were plopped onto my lap. Only about a dozen were the requested Chrome and only 3 of those were absent of chunky sparkles or a noticeable green iridescent hue, both of which completely defeat the purpose of Chrome in its entirety. There were cases of bottled water stacked against the wall that I saw employees and customers alike drinking, but I wasn't offered any. I had to place my bag on the dusty dirty floor without anyone showing me a place I could either hang it or set it on one of the many empty chairs/stations on either side of me. You would think in a newer nicer place, they would have hooks for bags. As my old color was being removed, the nail tech barely acknowledged me unless she was trying to pressure me into the new color, "You decide yet?" "What do you want?" She and her fellow nail tech were talking to each other in their native language while nodding and pointing at me and my nails. Maybe they were saying something nice, or maybe they weren't...I'll never know. I didn't feel like any of the colors were going to work, however, I was in the chair with my acrylics shaved down so I needed to make the decision. I reluctantly asked "Do you offer Tiger's Eye by any chance?" The tech did all but roll her eyes at that and said "No. We don't do that. We do what's in your lap. That's it." Ok, point taken. My mistake. I apologized for even asking because I didn't want to be 'that' person. I chose one of the only Chrome colors that I might be able to use as a neutral Christmas color for the holidays and the small formal dinners I have to attend with my husband and his coworkers. She said "Chrome costs extra." I said I was fine with that because I know it requires more layers and layers cost more due to the time the service takes and the amount of product used. The tech used her bare finger to dab the color on as opposed to a brush or dry sponge to apply it properly. Because of that, natural oils were transferred onto the powder, which in turn made the color "bleed" underneath the top coat which stained my cuticles and warped the shine. Additionally, usually, when someone gets a new color they are unfamiliar with, a tech will do the smallest of their fingernails as a demonstration, in case the client sees it and realizes it's not going to work. No such courtesy was given as color was haphazardly applied to all of my nails. Even though it wasn't my ideal color and it was not even close to what I had picked out, it actually looked pretty decent. I felt that a complaint would be met with anger and annoyance so I declined to voice any issue. Shortly after what I now understand was the final coat, my tech said "Ok" and tossed my hands back to me under the plastic divider and continued her conversation with her neighboring tech. I'm embarrassed to admit that it took me almost a full minute before realizing she was finished with me and that I needed to show myself out. I'm usually told something along the lines of "Thank you for coming!" "Do you like them? All done!" followed by pointing or directing me to the register to check out. I made my way to the cashier/manager and I tried to hold in my surprise when she gave me the amount of $55 for a fill and polish. 55 dollars before tax/tip to fill regular acrylic nails and new polish!!!?!? I have been to A LOT of nail places over the years all over the country and never has a fill with polish cost more than $40 in even the most affluent locations of nail bars. I understand Chrome was an extra charge that I agreed to however, never would I have thought it would be THAT much more. A brand new set with removal, shape and polish is the only time I have paid more than $55. I still tipped more than 20% because I have work in the service industry and I know times are tough for all of us right now.
I gave this place 2 stars instead of 1 because I feel I didn't give them the opportunity to right their many wrongs. Had I felt comfortable enough to voice a complaint, certain things could have possibly been rectified/fixed/adjusted. This review isn't intended to try and sabotage a business, but rather to give future customers an idea of what their experience might be. Maybe it was just an "off day" but I won't be returning in order to confirm that. read more
