My pedicure and my gel manicure took an hour for both WTF. 1 I was the only person there. 2 my pedicure she didn't even remove the clear coat I came in with or buff or push back my cuticles. My heels are rougher than what I came in with how?? My gel manicure is so bubbly and ugly. It's uneven and she didn't even fully remove the previous gel she just filed it and smoothed it over. Let me start off by saying I never write reviews and you should always take reviews with a grain of salt. I've been here 3 times and have had a bad experience each time. The most recent time was today and all I needed was a fill and a replacement nail. I called earlier and was told it would be $18 for a fill okay cool. Then when I got there it was $23 plus $15 for gel, plus $5 for the nail replacement. I'm going to attach some photos to show you the work the man did on my nails and thought was really "it". Also things to note; 1. I got cut and it started bleeding. 2. He put a huge blob of the acrylic on my nail like it was a child doing it. 3. The length of the nails are totally off (the look I gave the man when he first cut the nail shape) he assured me it would be filed (also lowkey blaming myself because I was on my phone a lot) but on the other hand he's the "professional". I got a pedi and shellac mani for $47. In some places you can't even get a pedicure for that much. If you're into the spa experience when getting your nails done, this is not your place. Quality has gone waaaaay down since I was in a few years ago. My friend and I were seated in the pedicure chairs, but the nail tech only filled up my friend's footbath. I sat there for a half an hour with cold bare feet on a freezing day in an empty tub. Not pleasant. Then a large older woman nail tech pulled her chair over and started pointing at my legs and feet. Her command of English was poor so she was relying on manual communication to tell me what to do. However, her command of that was equally as poor. What did she do? She laughed at me for not understanding her ill-formed commands, as if I was an idiot for not reading her mind. The pedicure itself was ok, but when she had finished, she said ok you done! And I said they're still wet! The salon was not busy at all but she came back a few minutes later and told me again I was done. I then asked her if they had those black lights you put your nails under to help them dry faster. She did not understand what I was asking, and immediately summoned a coworker over in Vietnamese. Except that she did it in a tone that was clearly mocking me. A coworker came over and said no, they don't have lights like that, just one small fan that blew air across my ankles more than anything else. This employee has a very bad attitude toward customers who don't speak Vietnamese. If this business can't keep its nail techs, small wonder why. This one needs to go. read more

Really liked it here, will be going again for my next fill. They do charge a fee to use a card, which is fine with me. So far the only salon who has really gotten the shape of my nails exactly how I want them! I'd like to do 4.5 stars, but I'm settling with 4 because they are a little pricey and the woman who did my pedicure was just a tiny bit rough! Other than that, great experience! I'm writing in hopes that the business will learn and improve from losing a regular customer. I really liked this nail salon. They usually do a great job with my acrylics! I've been going here for over a year, but over time I've noticed that every time I go in, I am charged a different amount for the same service. The last time I was in, I looked around and did not see a list of pricing posted. On my way out I grabbed a brochure, and I was disappointed to see that I had been over charged for my service. I understand that sometimes prices change, however if there is a reason for a price increase, I would hope that a business would inform its customers. I made an appointment with Hai. But he was 15 min. late and I got no apology. I got coffin style ombre gel nails, which a co-worker had recommended. I'm not sure of how the math adds up, but I was quoted (after the job completed) $55, which then forced me to pay $2 for a cc convenience fee, in addition to a $5 tip. (I only had $50 cash...apparently my co-worker paid $38 plus a tip...so I do feel that I was overcharged.) The nails generally looked nice, but didn't go to the base of my cuticle, as you can see in the pic. Hai didn't have me wash my hands right before for hygiene. I took it upon myself to do this. Hai was pleasant enough (although difficult to understand), did aim to engage in conversation later on, but he wasn't friendly to start.(He seemed annoyed in the beginning when I curiously asked what the lady next to me was getting done, like it was a challenge to his skills--when it wasn't.) The customer service wasn't anything special, especially for running behind schedule; offer me water or something! And the salon was very much so a hole-in-the-wall, with very dated simple decor and furniture. They did play some ambient music after some time, that made me feel better. The scent of chemicals in the air was strong, like ventilation was exceptionally bad. (Customers should have a breathing mask too!) I had to tell her twice to cut them down further. She tried to upgrade me from the regular manicure and I had to tell her three times, no. By the time we got to my manicure she'd finally figured life out. But I told her I didn't' want the same color for my toe nails, I wanted them clear. She left them clear alright. Nothing on them not even clear polish. By that time I was done and over it. I just wanted out. I'll never come here again. I was trying to be cheap and it's not worth it sometimes. I was searching for a place off to meet my friend for a pedicure - and with the help of Yelp, we found this place which was almost perfectly located about 1/2 way between our houses. The hours listed on Yelp are wrong, they are open on the weekends (Sundays 10:30-5). So today we met at 11:30 for a pedicure. The place was very busy, and like others, I drove by the first time. However, I have to say the pedicure was great...and very inexpensive - $22 for the pedicure with my big toe designs. I was also very impressed with the selection of designs, and the 'bling' offered with those designs. While I love my usual place, I ask them to do a design and they typically do a free hand flower. They had simple and elaborate designs all displayed in case, it was difficult to choose! Since we are heading to Rocky Point this weekend for a little beach and R&R time...I opted for an all 'bling' Martini glass design. One person did the pedicure, while a different person did the design; so I felt obligated to give a bit extra in the tip, but overall it is was a good pedi and good experience. My girlfriend and I sat and chatted and we had a relaxing experience, and it was still a few dollars cheaper than my regular place. I have come here a couple times, and both times, I left satisfied with my gel manicure. I seem to have bad luck with gel manis at other places, and have only found 2 other places in the valley that, guaranteed, give me a 3-week lasting gel manicure. Unfortunately, they are on the other side of town. I was impressed when my gel mani from here only began chipping after 2 weeks. There are some minor things I have noticed. Both times I have gotten a gel mani here, I've left and noticed a little hair or piece of fuzz embedded into the gel. Not totally noticeable aesthetically, but annoying for my perfectionist self. Also, the language barrier is more significant than other salons I've been to. I have needed help clarifying the list of services and ended up giving up on my question. I have also noticed that they don't do "exactly" what you ask. For example, I asked for a particular design with certain colors, and they had a few modifications they had to make, although I've had the same thing done elsewhere. My friend asked for a simple french manicure, and they said they wouldn't do it in regular polish because it chips quickly. It's nice that they mentioned that, but still, that is what she wanted. I was slightly expecting it to be busy on a Monday afternoon at 5:00 pm. I also did not make an appointment and thought I would have a little bit of a wait. The parking lot only had 3 cars and when I walked in, there were only 3 customers being worked on. I was promptly greeted and rushed to a chair for a pedicure after picking out my color. The girl I had was nice but not overly chatty. I shared that I wanted art on my big toe and said I wanted flowers. She worked well and fast and I greatly appreciated the massage chairs. When the time came for her to put flowers on my toes, she didn't ask what kind I wanted or what they should look like. She drew 3 petal flowers on my toes and while they look ok, I wish I would have been able to pick a design. I discovered that they have fake mannequin hands that have designs on them that I could have chosen from. I was done by about 5:45 pm. I was charged $19 for the pedicure that included a sugar scrub and nail art. There was also a $2 charge for using a debit card, which I knew from reading the other Yelp reviews. I decided to pay $25 total and am pleased with the overall service and quality of the pedicure. I will recommend this place to others as $25 is hard to beat! read more

Being an avid Yelper, I Yelped this place before I came in, so I was expecting a 4 star experience. They opened at 10am, I walked in at 10:10am, was seated straight away! They have a great selection of polishes, all my favorite colors were present! They have a great selection of gel polishes as well, they also carry China Glaze brand gel polishes! which meant...they had my favorite Flip Flop Fantasy, in a GEL color!! woo-hoo! So I swooped up on that right away! The massage chair was pretty comfortable, the bathroom was clean. The manicure sucked!!!!!!!! my cuticles were still there, polish on three fingers were on the sides of my skin. She did not massage my hand like she was supposed to! however, she did manage to slap some oil on top of them, rubbed it in once and wipe it off -_- really?... my pedicure....wow, out of all the ladies in the room, I got the oldest one...HATE when that happens, because I was raised to respect elderly people, and I just had to sit back and take it in, didn't care to look at my toes cause I couldn't tell her to correct any mistakes she may have made...I always think, damn, what if this was my grandma working on a young ladies feet? It also did not help that the girl at the front to my left had her fudgen foot up on the register table all awkward, neck slanted, and yes...she was giving herself a pedicure. Gross. The lady at counter was arguing on the phone and was very unprofessional. Overall, he was friendly and courteous because I needed to withdrawal money from my discover card at the nearest Walgreens. He trusted I would come back to pay. I paid for the service of removing gel polish for $5 and $10 for reshaping/color. I won't come back next time. My roomate and I decided in the spur of the moment to get our nails done. While looking for a reasonably priced and favorably reviewed nail salon, we decided to try out Top Design Nails. We arrived at the salon just a few minutes after it opened and there were already several customers being taken care of. We looked over the menu of services and then signed in. While waiting, I had time to run the the bank on the corner to withdraw money. According to a sign near the reception desk, if you decide to pay using a credit or debit card, there is a $2 fee. The wait time itself wasn't more than fifteen minutes and allowed me time to look at the selection of gossip magazines and choose my desired polish from a variety of colors. I have to say, the selection of colors was rather limited. However, I don't get acrylic or gel manicures and, had I done so, I would have had plenty more options. The only other drawback to this salon is the television was on. While this may not bother some people, I don't treat myself often and it would have been a much nicer experience had there not been unnecessary noise. The women who worked at the salon seemed polite and professional. I say that because, while I would like to learn Vietnamese, I don't know the language and have no idea if conversation was professional or not. The parking lot is kind of a mess (broken concrete), and the interior of the salon is pretty basic but I've always had really good experiences. My mom is a germaphobe and likes coming here so that's saying something. The employees are friendly, and usually make me laugh or smile. My husband even joins me sometimes for pedi's. I have tried other fancier salon/true spa nail services and not been as impressed by the quality of work at double or more the price. Ultimately I decided to get my nails done for my wedding here with my family and girlfriends rather than risk trying a fancier place I might be disappointed in. I am new to Phoenix, so I am still looking for my salon.. this one is NOT it. I got a no chip manicure and a regular pedicure. The person that did my manicure barely shaped my nails. Within two hours of arriving home from the nail salon, the "no chip" had already peeled off my nails, and my toe nails were chipped as well. I called the salon to request my money back, and was told that this is against their policy, but they would fix my nails if I came back in. I told them I did not trust them to fix my nails so I wanted my money back, and they refused and hung up on me. First off, this place is in a run down tiny little strip mall, off 16th St. Unfortunately, its the most convenient location to my house, so I tried them out simply based on that. Mind you, this was my first time coming in here. I was in right at 9 when they opened, and the place was already packed. I figured that was a good sign!! To start, these people barely speak English. And the English they do speak you cant understand. Totally your stereotypical Asian nail salon. The place is terribly outdated/decorated. Really needs a face lift. There are no appointments, luckily I was able to get in right away, probably because it was right when they opened. They did my pedicure first. NOTHING relaxing about it, at all. She was so fast it literally was done in 10 minutes, start to finish. Wam bam thank you ma'am. I thought I was going to have some type of relaxing service done. Nope. NEXT. Now, on to the acrylics. The only thing the lady said to me was what shape and length of nail I wanted. I decided to go with almond/oval shape. and a deep red. Again, nothing relaxing or enjoyable. To sit in dead silence isn't fun. Actually, it wasn't silence. All of the workers talked a million miles a minute to each other in whatever language they speak, but none of them were actually communicating with the client. Another thing I didn't like, I dealt with a total of 3 people. 1 for my pedicure, 1 for my acrylics, and 1 to paint my acrylics. Since I don't know the norm, is this normal? To me it felt like they were trying to spread the tips around. Not happening. That one backfired on them. So to sum it up, out dated semi dirty place, unfriendly unprofessional staff, and not relaxing. The plus? My nails did turn out pretty. I will give it that much. Since its been 2 months I of course don't have them on anymore. However, if I ever choose to get any type of spa service, I would NOT come back here. I think people come here because they are cheap. Yelp helped me find this place, as it's close to where I work. It was great, and there are some amazing specials... 10% off a pedicure on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. And also if you go on Mon, Tues, or Wed and you get a mani + pedi, they will give you a free eyebrow wax! The best thing about the place is the "family" atmosphere. I think the whole family does-- literally-- work there, and they all talk and hang out like you are in their living room with them. I told them that I really wish I could understand Vietnamese so I could be in on the jokes. They laughed at me and slapped my leg like I was the jokey-est jokester of all time. It was charming. The owner gave me my pedicure herself, and I LOVED her. (Maybe it's because she A) rested her boobs on my feet every time she laughed and B) burped with gusto.) She speaks zero English, so when I tried to explain that I like my nails mostly square but with rounded edges (complex, I know), she nodded her head like she understood and then proceeded to file my nails completely round, which I do not like. I could have corrected it, of course, but I was so charmed that I decided to be "that customer" on a future visit. I decided to get my eyebrows done while I was there-- even though I usually get them threaded elsewhere-- and the job was totally fine. The best part is that my pedi + eyebrows was a total of $23 ($15 pedi, $8 eyebrows)!! One more random/interesting thing to note: the owner also does clothing alterations on-site. Apparently, she will hem a pair of pants for $4! I know that must of us are in codependent, long-term relationships with our tailors, but I might have to give it a try some time, due to the ridiculously low price.
