I was debating if I should write a review, but honestly I was pretty bummed out with the result of my nails. I was looking forward to coming here since I've heard a lot of great things. Up until it got to the black design work, things were looking good. From a far it looked somewhat ok, but when you get closer you can see it gets a bit messy. I ended up having to fix the design myself as best as I could I also didn't realize until I got home that behind most of my nails there was overfill from the glue used to adhere my nails, which I tried to file off. Overall, I would've went with a much simpler design, if I had known the outcome.
Great manicure by Stacy R. I love my nails so much. The Gel X she does always stay so long because of how well she preps the nails. The vibes in the studio were very chill and I will be back for my next fill. Also! Check out the coffee shop next door (Crete). It's so good!
I visited Slain for the first time recently, after finding Bear on social media and loving her work, and it was an amazing experience. Bear is so friendly and an incredible nail artist! I got a structured gel mani with nail art and I love how it turned out. I'm about three weeks in now and they still look good and I've received so many compliments. I don't get manicures often but the next time I do I will be returning to Slain and booking with Bear!
I really appreciate that Chris was able to schedule me in for my services when everyone was basically completely booked and for everyone (Stacy & Vanessa) adapting to what I needed and working together to get me right when we found that my current work on my hands from another tech wasn't quality. The only thing I'd like to see from nail salons in general including Slain is engagement with the client during services. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one talking and trying to make the service a good time for the both of us whereas it feels like the tech is just trying to get the job done (but I appreciate the attention to detail and the job done right)!
I love Slain Studios! In my opinion, their prices are reasonable for the quality of their work. Pics are my sets by Marlene (red) and Brooklyn (the other two pics)! Both were so patient and didn't rush on my set at all. I've been trying to be strong on my natural nail growth journey and I'm happy to have Slain Studios take me on the journey. The inside is super cute and there's a great coffee shop next door! All the nail techs I've worked with have been great and can't wait to start getting nail art!
Customer service is good all around, but Rose keeps me coming back. She always does a beautiful, long-lasting, quality job with my dip nails.
Mother of Pearl! Son of Poseidon! This the freshest GelX set this side of the Pacific! @haciendanails is an amazing artist! Unicorn chrome frenchie with pearls sprinkled about for a mermaid vibe. Feeling blessed I've found the best nail tech in my hood. @slainstudios I showed up with a migraine for my appointment and cannot speak highly enough of the kindness and treatment in this salon. @shortiesnailz did my pedicure which is so beautiful and I'll be posting a lot of soon (raspberry glitter in clear polish to match the unicorn chrome)
Was super stoked for my appointment and I really hate leaving this review but unfortunately my experience wasn't great. I originally booked with Von but then got switched over to Brianna. I booked for full set and nail art which is scheduled for 2 hours. I arrived a little bit earlier for my appointment which was at 3pm but didn't get seated until 3:15-3:20ish. I would have appreciated if someone told me that she was running late instead of waiting. Once getting started, we clarified the design I wanted which was sent the day prior as well. At first it seemed Brianna was taking her time then it seemed she started to rush. I mentioned to her about the design on my nails and she would tell me that she had it. Come to find out the design is missing from a few nails. Which is a little frustrating because I tried to tell her what she was missing. Nonetheless I said just add cherry to a couple other fingers, it's fine. I figured she purposely skipped on the design because she was running behind. I also only got one coat of color and one layer of top coat. The gel is already peeling off. My nails were left un filed, which rough ridges around the nails, a couple of nails are crooked, the acrylic and top coat residue is stuck underneath and around the nail bed. If she was running late I would have appreciated my appointment canceled or rescheduled than to receive the service I did. Von mentioned that I could come back and she would squeeze me in to fix it but I live 45 minutes away without traffic. It should have been done right the first time.

When I say my mail technician did the bomb ditty on my nails!!! They are a bit pricey but well worth it!
I've been coming to see Jimmy, for a few years now. I've always said that if Jimmy stops doing nails I'd simply stop getting them done. However, Slain has plenty of techs that are skilled and innovative. Every tech I have met and interacted with is friendly and fun. The vibes at Slain are not easy to find elsewhere, the music is always good and surprising, everyone is always friendly, talkative, and nice. I love going to get my nails done, I look forward to it, and Jimmy always exceeds my expectat
UPDATE: The salon reached out me and were extremely kind and understanding. They not only offered me a full refund but also a complete redo with another technician. I just left the salon and am so happy! Caroline took care of me today and she was so nice and also super talented. She actually cut my cuticles and her polish application is amazing. The pictures with a lighter pink polish are the redone nails. As you can see, a world of difference!
Visiting Phoenix and desperately needing a pedicure. This place had great reviews so I gave it a try. While sitting in the chair I was helped by Stacy. While I sat I browsed Yelp reviews and found that her reviews were pretty great, so I found myself lucky. She was so gentle but effective, so nice and personable and did a fantastic job. The place is a bit industrial but simply unique. Tall chairs for manicures at a tall bar, 100's of nail colors behind the bar. People talking and laughing and enjoying the experience. If you don't know who you want to provide services, I suspect everyone is good, but Stacy is great! read more

Love, love, loooooved my experience at Slain Nails! I had my structured gel manicure + design done by Caroline (@coquetteclawss) and she knocked it out of the park. This was the best set I've ever gotten, the design was literally perfect and exactly what I was looking for! The shape and feel of the structured gel was great, it felt strong with no lumps and she did some cuticle work and prep on me, so these lasted 3+ weeks! I will definitely be back (I have my next appointment booked), and I love that Crete is next door for a caffeine fix. The vibes are great, you can tell the staff are great friends, and it's nice and clean. read more

If you want a beautifully technical and perfectly executed SNS set and polish, it's Rose every. single. time. Perfectly shaped/balanced--cuticles and hands leave gorgeous. I came to her today for my wedding set and I adore them. It's a relaxing and quiet appointment; I don't feel pressured to chat. I can relax and enjoy the salon's vibes. It was my first time coming here and Camille took care of me today, and was absolutely wonderful in both her service and her amazing personality. She's very pleasant to talk to and very kind, and I think her work speaks for itself as well (I went SUPER simple and got an acrylic refill + top coat only but she still took her time in making sure it was perfect.) As for the establishment itself, it was very sanitary and I loved the clean trendy aesthetic with fresh living plants everywhere. Will be coming back read more

A manicure emergency led me to search for a nearby nail studio that could fix a nail that broke on vacation. I had glued it in place and hoped for the best. My usual place couldn't fit me in. Slain to the rescue! More particularly, Anna. She was great. She fixed the broken one and did a fill on the rest. I was very impressed with her ability to sculpt and fill. I may even switch. Slain is in the up-and-coming McDowell Miracle Mile vintage storefront revival. I was very impressed! read more

Jimmy and his team at Slain Studios are the best in town for nails! Ok, so we are new to Scottsdale, and I could not find a good nail studio near me. I found Slain via Instagram, and I knew I had to check them out. I've been on a consistent schedule with them, and my nail health and overall look have improved so much in just a few visits. This is the only place I'll come to get my nails and pedicure. Period. Senthia has been doing my nails (full set acrylic) for two years since she was at Stash House before. Now she's here at Slain so... so am I!!! Her prices are higher than some may be used to but her work warrants every dime plus the tip! Ms. Rose is so detailed when she does my pedicures. She does an excellent job. Don't look for conversation from her though! LOL She's not here to make friends she's here to make your feet look FABULOUS! ;) Then there's Junior. Love him! He's so friendly when you first walk in the door. You'll get the same bright smile every time you walk in the door. It's a very trendy and "youthful" environment. Friday was my first time going to Slain Studios and it will not be my last! The vibes there were unlike any other nail salon. All the artists truly support each other's work and it is just a relaxed laid back atmosphere with a great playlist lol everyone is professional. I went to see Vanna. She is friendly, and takes her work very serious. Went in with an idea to get a tarot card nail set and the results blew me away. It was beyond my expectations. Been looking forward to trying this place and getting my nails done by Jasmine (saw her instagram page and liked her work). It's a cool spot, but maybe I'll try a different nail tech next time. I went in for dip nails (been getting dip on my natural long nails for a couple years now). I wanted a creamy French tip with flowers on a couple fingers (for my baby shower tomorrow). What I got was sheer/clear dip horribly painted over with gel and the flowers are not it. The finish product is super bumpy and has bubbles all over. The tech was rushing, station was a mess, didn't talk at all other than to ask for a picture of what I wanted, and made no eye contact. Overall, the experience and end product was not what I expected from this place at all. The receptionist was nice though. read more

I have been going to Rose at Slain Studios for my gel manicures and pedicures. She is so patient when she is working on your nails and her conversations make you feel comfortable and welcomed. It has been the best nail care experience I've had so far. The aesthetic of the place and vibes are on point too! Highly recommend. You won't be disappointed! read more

I really liked the vibe of this studio upon entering. I booked an appointment for a one hour basic pedicure with any available technician and got booked with Rose. She began the appointment almost 15 minutes late and was done about 25 minutes later. I also noticed too late that she gave me the wrong color polish. It seems very misleading to advertise a one hour service when it's half the time. Unless, of course they're including the time you're sitting there waiting for your nails to dry. Not worth the $45. The coverage of the polish was also done very poorly in my opinion and it needed another coat. read more

Months later and I'm still going to Slain Studios for my nails & waxing needs. I love all of the staff - if you're there as much as I am, you start to feel like family. I wonder why Jimmy hasn't hired me yet, lol. I have easily convinced my other girlfriends to start going here and I LOVEEEEEE OANH! She always gets my nails looking amazing and she's honest when I think I want something that probably won't look good. She is true nail therapy and amazing at her craft & as a person. Please don't book her, she's busy enough - try the other nail techs so I don't have to share - thanks!!! read more

Scheduled a new set with slain for the 15th of February at 10:30am , they randomly assigned me to jasmine. While I'm driving there I get a text from Chris that she's running 15min late I said fine, I get there and sit there wait for her until 11am she sends Chris to tell me 10min more min I wait it's 11:15min she's still not done she needs 10more minutes I said well I have work I can't wait longer , Chris tells me I will get 15% off if I reschedule with her which I did for Friday the 17th at 10:30am too. Got there at 10:35 she was still not ready waited till 11am that's when she was ready I didn't complain because I was like well she said last time she likes to take her time so I freed my day First I'm here for a new set she tells me how gel x is better and less painful (I never told her acrylics were painful to me) I let her do the gel x and it hurts like crazy , she proceeded by picking the wrong color based on the picture and put it all over my nails instead of letting me see if I like it so I told her that wasn't the color finally she had to remove it and picked the right color, then she's doing French on the picture it's a thin white top she does a huge white tip I tell her it's too big she kind of gets irritated and she finally lowered the white but it was still too huge from the picture . I will not go back because of terrible it is... and and the hair you're seeing on my nails is literally built under she never allowed me to go wash my hands before applying nail polish smh read more

I've been going to Senthia for almost 10 years and the quality and service is ALWAYS above and beyond! Whenever I go to Slain, they're very friendly and welcoming. Everyone who works there is a true artist. I would never go anywhere else! HIGHLY recommend. read more

Such an amazing group of amazing artist who all come from different walks of life. I've never seen such a talented group of people all working in one salon! Their styles range from clean contemporary to sleek urban designs. They can do any design from just simple diamond arrangements to super in-depth sketches of anything your heart desires. My family has been in the nail industry for nearly 30 years; so trust me when I tell you that these people are talented! Jimmy in particular has been an artist I've been following for a very long time. I am continually in complete awe when I see his artwork. Syn did my nails a few times at this location, the first time she did them and they came out amazing! The second time she did them, I felt like she was in a hurry and I received many nicks and scrapes from the electric file while she hurried. My nails this time still came out pretty good, although it was disheartening to learn that I would need to book a fill + gel to receive color, I was still pleased. The third time I booked with Syn, she agreed she could do a gel ombré (she's done this the first time I saw her) but got frustrated with how the nails were coming out. She took the polish off and suggested I try another style. I chose a very simple French manicure style and upon investigation, I noticed all of the lines were extremely crooked and sloppy. With a heavy attitude, she removed the polish (not even completely) and I started investigating the nails even more. They were pretty bad quality & she said she had another client coming so I suggested I come back another time to which she responded, I'm not going to charge you, I don't think you should remain my client anymore. I'm not sure why a nail tech would have an attitude with me if they're the ones producing crappy work but seeing as her energy was salty, she's not an artist I would choose to continue to have a relationship with anyways. She is a decent artist, but do beware that if you critique her mess-ups, the attitude will rear; I'm not spending my hard earned money with someone who thinks their sh*^ don't stink read more
