(Brazilian wax) The girl left so much wax I literally had to go home and drown my vag with oil to get it off! She left a plethora of hair down there it's not even funny. She said it was because it was my first wax- I went to a different wax studio and brought this up and she literally laughed and said that was a horrible excuse to leave so much hair behind. I've had multiple aestheticians and each one has not only been pleasant but they each make it relatively pain free, especially if you come the recommended 3-5 weeks as necessary. Let me start by saying: everyone here is extremely nice, professional & engaging. Furthermore, I didn't know the first time customer got a free waxing which is very nice & hard to complain when something is free. Also, I am partially at fault because (although I wasn't offered one), I did not look in the mirror before I left, assuming since I've had my eyebrows waxed for over 15 years they have always been done well no matter where I've gone. However, this was by FAR the most inadequate eyebrow wax I have ever experienced. Look at the photos I took immediately in my car afterward & like you are probably wondering (as I did) "what the heck did they even do?" My answer is I have no idea. Maybe she just put some wax on and rubbed it off but it felt like a normal waxing. I have the same request as I always have "just clean them up and please leave me looking masculine". So I guess that can be chalked up to artist interpretation but I feel as though I wasted my time, gas and tip money and unfortunately will not be returning to this business again. Patrons beware: check the mirrors before you leave, although I have NEVER not been offered one in 15 years and over 5 different states so that should have been a clue. read more

The first picture is my eyebrow naturally and in the second picture it was after my appointment today. The lady was super nice super clean store however they messed up my left eyebrow really badly. I don't wear make up and my eyebrows or a key factor of my face and now I don't have that. They did not mention anything about it either and proceeded to let me go as if everything was OK. Looks like I have two missing spots on my eyebrows. I used to love urban wax and Would Drive to the one off of Scottsdale however they closed so I came to this one and this is the second time I've come here and they messed it up both times. My esthetician put down a line of wax larger than the span of my eyebrow that was too hot. In turn it burnt me and I'm still feeling it as if I touched a boiling hot pan, and ripped off a whole bunch of skin. The good: they use hard wax.. that's it The bad: seems like the workers are rushing to see as many clients as possible in a day. When I got home I noticed I had a lot of hairs that the aesthetician didn't clean up in addition to ingrowns that she didn't release. I expected a very thorough job for a $50 wax ($60 with the tip). I'm from Chicago and I paid $45 with the tip included, spent more time with my aesthetician, and had better quality service. This is a good location! I live less than a mile from the uptown location, but I travel the 5 miles to this one. That good! Between the two, this location is more likely to work with you to get you in when you want to! The other place makes you feel like you got lucky.. uh, pass. I have use this group for eyebrow waxing for many years and have recently decided to consistently do body waxing. Let me start off by saying if I could give Urban Wax Salon negative stars, I would. I have gone to both the Arcadia location and the Scottsdale location. I have been a loyal customer for YEARS. I called to talk to someone about refunding my packages because I am moving. The person than I talked to was very nice and helpful. She looked up my packages and told me how many I had left. (This matched up to the amount I knew I had left.) She then explained to me that she couldn't refund my money because she was new, but that her manager Brittney could. But, that Brittney was with a client and would call me back as soon as she was done. No phone call. I called the next day and talked to the same nice person who was apologetic and said she would give Brittney my message again. No call back. Brittney finally called several days later and left a message that I had only 6 services left (not the 15 that I truly have) and that they don't give refunds. Really?! Because I have your brochure with your menu of services and prices and there is NOTHING written on it saying you don't give refunds. I've purchased numerous packages over the years, and was NEVER told this. Apparently loyal customer service, numerous referrals, and wonderful tipping to your estheticians means nothing to you. I've been told that Anne Marie, the owner doesn't care either. Whatever you do, do NOT go to Urban Wax Salon. You'd get better customer service from the guy at 7-11. I WILL be reporting them to the better business bureau. They should not be allowed to remain in business. As a side note, if I had one or two services left, I wouldn't care as much, but 15!!! That's $280 worth of services that they did NOT provide and they think they are getting my money for. Well, they are sadly mistaken. read more

It has taken me a little over a month to write this review... Everything was great til I had my eyebrow wax of nightmares! The one good, The front lady at the desk was sweet and got me in right away and bad my brow lady (forgot her name really wish I remembered since this is about her,she did have red hair I think) was very chatty which was ok with me but maybe that was distracting me on how she did my brows..I'm way to nice and just trust ppl easily which could bite me in the butt I had makeup on and she hardly cleaned my brow area off which I thought was weird.. It was quick for her to wax my brows literally felt like 1min and then showed me the result after and I realized it was a bit off on one side and she didn't trim them and I asked her to and she kindly did. Once done she filled in my brows and oh boy I looked like a cholla but I let that pass.. As I was sitting there she said oh you get red huh and I usually do get red due to sensitive skin but usually goes away after a few days.. The really bad... I got home and really looked in the mirror and saw she made the tails of my eyebrows so short I had to outline them to appear I had eyebrows another was my eyebrow area completely broke out in tiny white zit like bumps ALL OVER this has never happened to me!! Tons of makeup hardly covered it and in the few days attended a friends wedding and said thank god I wasn't getting married due to my severe outbreak.. And told every girl not to go to urban wax!!!! The really really bad..right above my crease and under my right Brow I noticed I had a line from skin being pulled and I was bit bleeding.. I still too this day have a scab that is starting to turn into a scar finally after a month.. I am a bit traumatized and haven't even got them done again and have let them grow out a bit... I had better eyebrow wax at a nail salon... I'm sorry I won't be coming back to urban wax for any service due to being scared of what could possibly happen if I got a Brazilian wax even after all the rave reviews :( read more

Saw the advertisement on Instagram and decided to give them a try, especially since they were offering a great deal! I had Shannon and she was amazing! She was fast and efficient. I was getting ready to wax *that* area: *mentally preparing because of how awful it usually is *telling it I'm sorry for what's about to come *grinding my teeth on the way to the salon I arrived at Urban Wax for the first time and immediately loved the atmosphere. It was clean, and approachable: believe it or not, the appearance of a salon can definitely alter the experience greatly (even if you don't immediately think so). I was waiting for only a short amount of time, and then was taken into the back where I would begin my waxing procedure. My technician's name was Caitlin (I think), and she made me feel so comfortable. I told her that it had been a while and I was scared for what's to come, so during the entire procedure she held a conversation with me (not just boring small talk). The best part of the whole appointment was that I got to try hard wax for the first time, and it was AMAZING. Nearly painless in most areas and very quick. For those of you who choose the shaving route: stop. Get waxed, and if you're afraid, opt for the hard wax at this location and you'll see why I have changed my waxing preference. When my appointment was over, Caitlin brought me over to a set of drawers.... FULL OF PANTIES. Not even meh panties, but really cute ones that I was excited about. What better way to heal your hurt than a cute new pair of free panties?! After I selected the ones I wanted, I brought them to the front where they placed them in a bag for me to take home. I didn't know this initially, but on your first visit, you receive a major discount (pretty sure it was at least 40% off): you're welcome. I want to start this off by saying I normally ALWAYS go to European Wax Centers. However, on both occasions that I visited Urban was was due to EWC not having any availability when I needed. With that being said I have been to Urban Wax twice. Both times getting asked where I normally get my waxes and being told "oh I used to work there. Our wax is better." WRONG. The first time I went and got a Brazilian at Urban Wax I had a HORRIBLE reaction. By reaction I mean, terrible ingrown hairs, rashes, itching. No matter what I did to prevent it. (Mind you I never have this issue with EWC and I did everything the same way.) I thought maybe it was just a one off thing. Months later I find myself needing a wax again and EWC being booked. I end up again at Urban Wax hoping for the best. WRONG. The same reaction is happening and it's a horrible experience and feeling. I have been getting Brazilian waxes for about 4 years now at EWC and never have this issue. I dont know what the difference is in the wax between the two but Urban Wax should NEVER compare the two because in my opinion they are nothing alike or even similar. If I could get a refund I would and never return. Third time won't be a charm. And hopefully my review can save any one else from going through the same thing. read more

When I asked her if she would please put a mask on, she said she did not have one. I declined to get a wax in a small room with the unmasked aesthetician. I have been to this location three times, but will never return. The first time, they only waxed/plucked about half of my eyebrows. They offered for me to come back (after my review), but I had already spent a significant amount of time plucking my eyebrows at home. The second time they offered a free service, but I had to do the same self clean-up when I returned home. I tried one final, third time, and they burned me so badly from the wax that I had to use Neosporin and bandaids around my one eyebrow for days. I left a note with the manager and they issued no apology. All they offered was for them to redo the appointment. Do not visit this place. Poor management, lazy/inexperienced employees and no customer service. read more

I was never a fan of Brazilians until I came here. They have great package deals where you can prepay for multiple at a time then get a free one with it. I find beneficial because I go in once a month for a Brazilian. I highly recommend Wendy because she makes this experience go by as a breeze. I am beyond pleased with my wax! When walking into the studio, it was an inviting vibe and I was treated, without being bombarded into already rebooking. My waxer was thorough and explained each step she was doing and the wax pattern she was laying on me. I felt comfortable the entire time, and since I was able to hold a conversation with my waxer I didn't feel unbearable pain. Upon checkout I was asked to rebook, and was not pressured into rebooking, buying product or any packages. I appreciate and respect when a salon does not put that type of pressure. The price is fantastic as well. Definitely cheaper than European Wax Center, and the staff and environment was happier and not as high strung as EWC. She went through and explained all the benefits to me of having a partial face done and even complimented Me on my eyebrows! I like that she talked to me And related to me! I was so nervous to get a bikini wax and my esthetician Leah i believe was so kind! I have to say the front desk can be more welcoming just by saying " Hi welcome to Urban wax" and make eye contact which was not the case. All I got was is this your first time ? Fill this form out. This is my only complaint which appears to be a pattern based off other reviews. Leah was outstanding from the second we went back she asked me if this was my first time and began to make sure I was comfortable the entire time. She informed of what she was doing and when she thought it could sting a little! I appreciated the warning. She made sure to do a perfect job and chit chatted with me the entire time to keep me distracted. She was thorough, kind and passionate! She explained proper after care and when I should return next. I will definitely be back to see her. I did buy some of the serum they sell which I thought was on the pricier end but I will see if it was worth the $$$ to prevent ingrown hairs etc. Facility is very clean and I never saw any double dipping, plus you get a free panty! I give it a 3 just because I drove from desert ridge to Arcadia and from reviews I would think I would get better service especially for it being my first time EVER getting a Brazilian wax. The First Lady Riley was not that welcoming. As soon as I got in the room she says to undress, lay on back, and butterfly my legs less then a minute in. She didn't explain ANYTHING. She really didn't care if I felt pain or not. I asked if they have anything to squeeze she said no, I squeezed her arm by accident and she acted as if she didn't want me touching her, so she pulls one strip off, which wasn't bad AT ALL, and I just hoped up to speak to a manager. Manager wasn't there so I asked if there was someone else that can assist me. Holly came to the rescue. She made me feel at ease, very comfortable, gave me something to squeeze, walked me thru the entire session, she was very friendly and understanding and communicated with me every step she would do. She made it so much easier for me. She did mention they are speed waxers, so I won't be going back. If I'm going to spend money on a service I desire I don't want to feel rushed.
