Came here because my roommate at the time worked here, thought I'd check out the types of frames and styles they have here and the ones he'd recommend to me. This spot was a little hard to find at first, it's located in a plaza that you may have to circle a few times to get it right (the letters along the building walls help). Inside I received incredibly kind and attentive service. My roommate helped me distinguish the separate brands and styles, and the other staff was helpful in getting an appointment set up for my first exam with the doctor. When I met up for my appt with Dr. Mai, he was really chill and nice to getting me an updated prescription, and he even comped to check my optic nerve to see if anything was wrong just in case! He let me know if any issues arise, to keep coming through to see them and keep track of my eye strength. Overall really loved this spot, the service, and selection they have. read more

*** PROS *** Facility: Clean, orderly, modern. Frames: Not a large selection, but they have some very nice niche glasses (Salt glasses, which are handmade by a local company. They come in beautiful colors). New to Contacts: Staff is friendly and very patient with helping me learn/practice taking contacts in and out... They really made me feel comfortable with the learning curve. *** CONS *** Contact fitting: During my eye exam they asked if I also wanted help getting fitted for contacts. Some facilities include this at no cost (I wasn't aware places charged a separate price for this service)... And no money was mentioned BEFORE getting fitted. Miscommunication happened... But I was really sad to be hit with this expensive miscommunication at the end. I explained my confusion and told them I wish they had mentioned it (I should have triple checked). But my bill ended up being over $100 more with the fitting and after that I couldn't afford the glasses I needed... Which meant I didn't get the full benefit of even getting the exam in the first place. Asking for prescription: I called yesterday to get my prescription information... Which I was informed had expired. Which was totally fine... I hadn't noticed a big change in my vision, but I finally saved up enough money to go buy frames. When you buy frames, they ask for your prescription information so they know if your lenses will fit into the frames (since it's not a one size fits all). So, since I was purchasing the frames else where, I called to ask what my prescription was. "I can't tell you what it was because it expired. No one can fill the prescription." I explained my situation, and said I just needed the prescription so I could have a rough idea if these frames I liked could work or not for future prescriptions. I'd follow up for another eye exam later. I just wanted the numbers. The lady would not give me my prescription over the phone but she agreed to email it to me. HIPPA won't let them email it directly, which means hey had to send me an email link... Which took me to a website where I didn't have login information (username and password) to access it either. *** OVERALL *** I will NOT be returning to this business. I want a provider that sets me up for success... And I feel like between the miscommunication (which cost me extra money!) and having to pull teeth to get my prescription information (which I gave up trying to access after an hour of trying) this whole experience was basically POINTLESS. read more

As a new patient looking for an optometrist, I found Insight Vision. After reviewing the yelp reviews it seemed like a great place so I made an appointment. I have to say I'm extremely happy with my care and Dr. Mai. I have amblyopia as well as other Vision impairments and Dr. Mai was fantastic in my assessment and treatment plan as he told me this is his specialty. He answered all my questions and was very thorough. The staff was fantastic and worked with me to find the right pair of frames. GREAT STAFF & DOCTORS!!!!!! It's my fist time here at this optometrist office and it is a wonderful experience. This office is one of the nicest office that I ever visited. I had looked this doctor through yelp and google for a good doctor OC area. I made an appointment through their easy booking appointment website. When first arriving their staff is super friendly. Their staff welcomes you and takes down information that they need. The office looks so luxurious that I need to post on social media. Later when I was working with Jordan & Jaime I had a great time. These staff really cares about making you feel comfortable and relaxed. They have really high patience when working with patients and meet your requirements. Since it was 2-3 years ago that I visited an eye doctor I felt the need to get out ASAP due to horrible memories as a child. However, this is a different story. This office has the newest and coolest equipments ever!?!? So say good bye to those air puff machines and hello to these ones. While these staff guides me through the machines it doesn't feel awkward to be examined. It's makes you want feel to stay longer at the office. Dr. Mai is very helpful and generous. I was referred to Dr. Lam via my Chiropractor who suggested I meet with Dr. Lam due to her specialization in treating issues related to double vision. My father recently began experiencing issues with his left eye, causing significant impairment in his normal functioning. Obviously, this was a concern requiring immediate attention. Dr. Lam did an amazing job; she was welcoming, kind, attentive, and thorough. Dr. Lam communicated in a manner that was clear, concise, and comprehendible. Dr. Lam did in a matter of moments what a previous ophthalmologist was unable to do: she gave us clarity and assurance through a diagnosis, prognosis, and also cued us into what may have caused my father's ailment. It is through this specific and individualized care that enables folks like my father and myself to feel truly supported. I strongly recommend meeting with Dr. Lam should you experience any form of irregularity with your vision. Dr. Lam and staff are amazing. Every phone call or interaction is friendly. You can feel the smiles and joy over whatever mode of communication you are interacting with them. They do require a $20 material fee (I think), which is reasonable considering they have affordable frames, and accepted my insurance (VSP). I've been looking for a new optometrist after I recently switched insurance. I'm not a fan of the old beige optometry offices that you find in medical buildings. I was looking for a modern place who could recommend stylish frames and provide exemplary vision care. Thank you Yelp, for helping me find what I was looking for and more at the Insight Vision Center. Apple maps got me to the office with no detours. The office itself is pretty cool with a colorful modern look. In the central room are frames from many different brands and surrounding that area are the exam and other rooms. So what was so impressive about this place to warrant five stars? -The Service: I saw Dr. Mai and he was great. I felt comfortable talking to him about my vision and how I needed new glasses after recently losing a pair. Dr. Mai went through a very comprehensive exam, asking me questions and testing me on things no optometrist ever has. He said that was because they are trying to hurry you in and out so they can see more patients. I am so thankful that Dr. Mai took the time to be thorough. I definitely trust a doctor who cares more about providing quality care than cramming in appointments. -The Style: I'm very picky when it comes to buying frames. In fact, I tend to shop outside of an optometry office because the options at most places are horrible. The glasses Jaime the optician picked out for me today were perfect. He brought 5 or 6 back to the desk for me to try on instead of having me walk around and guess what will look good on my face. He calls it their "concierge service." I thought that was pretty cool. At the ripe age of 26, I realized that I'm getting old. Things that used to be clear, were now blurry if I'm too far away. My brown eyes are slowly giving in to my old age... I decided to finally figure out what was going on by going to see Dr. Lam. My friend recommended me to her, so now I'm recommending Dr. Lam to all my internet friends. Dr. Lam, simply put, is amazing. She took the time and did several different tests on me to get a thorough understanding of my vision and eyeballs. She listened to all my concerns and past experiences to help me understand my own eyes. I didn't feel rushed or stupid with all my dumb questions. At the end of my appointment, I found out more things about my eyes than I would've known if I were to have gone to another doctor. She also didn't put pressure on me to buy anything. She said I COULD get glasses now, or I could wait later. I decided to get the glasses. They had lots of name brands, and of course, the most expensive ones were the ones that looked the best. Nothing builds trust like food. I was then led into an exam room with new equipment that none of my previous optometrists had used. They don't skimp on technology here! A few quick tests later, I met Dr. Mai who gave me the most thorough and honest eye exam of my life. I had put off going to the optometrist for years. I never went while growing up, and my eyes were "fine" so why go right? Alright, I also didn't go because I hate things in my eye. You know that episode of Friends where Rachel goes to the eye doctor? That would be me. When I finally decided it was time to get my eyes checked out, I of course turned to Yelp and found Insight Vision Center. I liked that they were a small office with great reviews and figured they could give their patients better attention and service if they weren't huge. Making an appointment was really easy over the phone. Jaime helped me book an appointment and had me fill out my new patient forms online, so that we didn't have to go through that when I got there. The place can be hard to find but if you read their directions on the website, it gives you very specific instructions so be sure to take a look. The whole exam was actually really pleasant. Jaime and Dr. Mai explained everything as they went along so that relieved some of my anxiety haha. They don't do the glaucoma test with the horrible air puff thing here so that alone is a big relief to me haha. I did appreciate that they were so receptive to any questions I had. I think it's pretty important to be able to ask questions without worrying that you'll come off as ignorant. After the exam came the frame-choosing part which was actually pretty fun. It was like having a personal shopper really. Jaime, with the help of some very nice interns, helped me pick out frames that looked great, fit well, and felt really comfortable on. My glasses came in only about a week, much faster than anticipated, and after a few tweaks to make them fit better, I was out the door. I like keeping the same doctor. The same dentist. The same optometrist. I've followed Dr. Thanh Mai the last few years. He's a really nice doctor. He always walks me through my exam like it's my first time, explaining what he's doing throughout the exam and explaining issues with my eyes. He always answers my questions. And I love to ask really stupid questions. When I found out that he started his own practice, I naturally followed him. I have to say, the one thing that was nice about this practice is that it's a little more tech saavy. When I made my appointment, I was given the opportunity to fill out my forms online before coming in. I usually hate filling out paperwork on a clipboard at any doctor's office. The office is brand new. Very bright. Very clean. They have a private waiting room that has toys and games for kids. I think there maybe a TV, but I wasn't really paying attention to that. My exam was like all other experiences with Dr. Mai. Straightforward. Clear. Painless. Pleasant. After my annual exam, I decided to get some prescription sunglasses and Jaime Antonio, Optician, gave me a lot of personal attention during the buying process. Explaining what my insurance would cover. What type of glasses they had. Even fashion advice. Yes, they do take VSP. First of all all that paperwork you have to sit and fill out at the office or print out from home is just a few forms online and that's it! So easy! Just from the moment we walked in I knew we were in a great place. So spacious and bright and catered to children and adults as well. They have a wonderful selection of frames for everyone! They even have a prize section for kids! I absolutely loved that idea. Having to wear glasses myself since I was in 2nd grade, I was so pleasantly surprised to see how amazing Insight Vision is! And that's just the place itself, as far as customer service- every single person there made us feel like we were VIP. Honestly, I've never been anywhere let alone a medical office, where we were treated so kindly. Everyone there is so upbeat and cheerful and POLITE! I came in again in December to get new glasses and use up my year-end vision insurance. Great experience! Usually I hate the part where they blow air on your eyeballs (maybe to test the pressure?) but Dr. Mai had a newer gadget that was way more comfortable ... just a light feathery touch. He also has great bedside manner and answered my questions about my dry eyes. The best part was picking out the glasses -- they do a "concierge service" in order to style you. I was able to quickly find what frames where best for me after he determined my face shape. Plus, it's cool that he handpicks the brands and offers some really cool, non-mainstream ones. Being not entirely sure of the different options that future optometrists have when deciding what specific field they would like to specialize in, I decided to visit Dr. Mai's office for extra insight on the matter. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the gorgeous aesthetics of the office which complimented the professionalism that Dr. Mai displayed. I was immediately offered snacks or drinks on top of the staff opening the door for me as I entered the clinic. It is not everyday that you are given this kind of red carpet treatment at an Optometry office. The staff was very friendly which gave a more welcoming and homey vibe to the office. Because Dr. Mai was not scheduled for an appointment at the time, he gave me a thorough tour of the clinic and elaborately explained what it is that this practice specifically focused on: vision therapy. He took the time to explain the different equipment (which was state of the art and brand new) as well as explain what the field of vision therapy really was and how they treated patients who incurred vision problems. I was able to get a lot out of this experience and highly recommend this Optometry office for other people as well. One of the main aspects that this office did have as an option which many other Optometry offices do not is the service of orthokeratology which involves a special kind of contact lenses that you can wear to sleep at night which fixes the shape of your eye and allows you to take them off and see 20/20 for the whole day. This is a very exciting alternative for patients to be able to help better their eyesight. The parking is widespread and Dr. Mai was very informative and willing to take the time to answer any questions that I had.There is a wide selection of glasses to choose from so the issue would be: There are so many which one do I choose instead of struggling to find a pair that would be the perfect fit. If everything that I had previously stated was not enough, they also have free wifi and cable to keep the family members of the patients entertained. Very seldom will I ever make a genuine, heartfelt recommendation of a medical practice. This is the one exception. Although I'm quite fond of this quack doctor that fixes my spine, but I don't think he has yelp - or will you ever consider that medical practice. It's more like voodoo magic. But anyway... I can rattle on and on about the esthetics of this place - the sleek style frames they have, the state of the art equipment, the friendly staff. But when it comes to my eyes, when it comes to my families eyes, I trust these wonderful doctors. To be quite frank, I hate going to any medical screenings. I have what you called an invincibility complex - I feel like I'm unstoppable, unflappable, and certainly can see like an eagle. Or so I thought. It could be an ego thing, or a certain mindset thing, I just don't know. So when I first discovered I needed glasses, I was shocked. How could this be I asked. Dr. Mai of course reassured me that everything will be fine. That he's got my back and that just because I'm going to be a dork, life is still going to be good. He was right. I found out about this office through a referral from a coworker and I only have good things to say about it. It's so helpful that the office is close to where I work and they close at 7:00pm on Monday - Thursday, so I can go after work. Calling in and scheduling was extremely fast and simple and rescheduling was just as easy. The interior of the office is organized very well and feels very spacious. I personally think the inside looks very chic because of how well the minimum amount of furniture and furnishings are used to decorate the rooms, and because of how all of the displays of glasses are organized in such a way that really stand out and give style to the lobby. On my initial visit, I was helped out by Mimi and Dr. Lam who are both very welcoming and pleasant to speak to. Mimi did a great job of walking me through the initial eye exams, having done so while juggling a conversation with me. Dr. Lam was equally wonderful to speak with conversationally and more importantly, very informative about my test results and what they meant. The tests and equipment that were used felt very modern and up-to-date and the exams definitely felt more interesting than like a chore. I also took the time to pick out my first pair of glasses there and both Mimi and Dr. Lam were very patient and accommodating. Mimi helped pick out a couple of frames that she thought suited my tastes and both her and Dr. Lam kindly offered their opinion on which style they thought looked nice. I got to briefly meet the other staff such as Dr. Mai when I went to pick up my glasses and he was just as nice. Overall, this is an office in which you can really tell that the staff and especially the doctors are really passionate about their work and who really care about their staff on an individual basis.
