I'm a newer patient of Dr. Yamane. He is a caring and quality driven optometrist. Also easy to talk to. I had a little misunderstanding with my appt and it's always a bit awkward to follow up. But he and his office staff resolved the issue very quickly (2 days from start to finish) and I was very satisfied. Very professional office. I would recommend him. I give him a 4.9 because no one is perfect! read more

Been seeing Dr Yamane for way over 20 years and couldn't be happier! Glasses are always correct (and if there were any issues, they were quickly resolved) The office staff are friendly & professional, you can't ask for more! You'd be hard pressed to find a better optometrist!! read more

As usual, I received top notch service from Dr. Yamane and his staff. My husband and I had appointments within a week of each other and we both felt so well-taken care of by Olga and the other supportive staff in this office. Dr. Yamane remembers his clients and things going on in their lives even after a year or so of not seeing them--he's a Doctor that really cares! We both got glasses ordered and the came in very quickly. I recently dropped in without an appointment and all the ladies in the office worked hard to help me with my lens issue quickly! Love coming here still and will stay a patient of Dr Yamane as long as I live in this area! read more

This is the most welcoming office I've ever been to. Dr. Yamane is really kind and explains everything very well so you really understand the images that are taken of your eye. I've never had an optometrist go into as much detail as he did. He also made a note to watch me for glaucoma since I have the genetics from both parents - which most optometrist have brushed me off for in the past. The staff are also equally amazing. I can be really indecisive when it comes to choosing frames and lenses options but they're always so patient and helpful when I ask for their opinions. I can also be really picky about how my glasses fit and they have never made me feel bad about it or made me feel rushed. As for the frames selection, a lot of their frames are on the higher end but they do have a small section for more affordable brands. If they don't have a specific frame you are looking for, they can see if they can order them for you but you will have to cover the shipping costs. I did this last year and to me it's worth it because I didn't come across a place that offered that to me. Personally, this office deserves a 15/10. I can't believe I didn't start going here earlier!! read more

Amazing Dr and amazing team !!!! Dr Yamane takes his time to make sure he listen to our concerns and takes time to explain things as clear as he could. He is amazing with kids as well together with his team especially Ms Olga. If I can give 10 Starts I would. My whole family go to him ever since there were in 5 points plaza in HB and still go to him after they transfer to Costa Mesa 5 years ago. Highly recommended !!!! read more

Jon has been my go to optometrist since I was in either elementary or middle school which feels crazy to say since I'm 31 now but I can whole heartedly say that he is the best in the business. He knows his stuff and I always feel good knowing my eye health is in his hands. He breaks stuff down in a pretty easy to understand way. He cares about his patients as well and it really shows. His staff is always incredibly helpful as well. I've seen some come and go, but they are always knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to picking the right pair of glasses or contacts. The office is also always willing to make adjustments if needed with the pair you choose. They also have a wide variety of options for glasses as well. Overall if you are looking for an optometrist, I could not recommended Jon enough. He truly is a master at his craft and he'll probably be my optometrist till he retires. read more

I used to be a patient of Dr. Yamane before I headed off to medical school. He was a great optometrist with awesome bedside (I guess chairside in this instance) manners(?). After medical school and a few insurance switches, we lost touch. However, fast forward to when the pandemic started in March of 2020, I realized that I was running low on my daily contacts and all OD offices were shut down due to COVID-19. I don't normally wear my daily contacts to work in the Emergency Department as I prefer to wear glasses. However, given that I started wearing PPE, glasses weren't an option due to all the fogging and discomfort from the temple and temple tips under all my PPE during a 12 hour shift. I attempted to contact my OD at the time on several occasions as I was in desperate need of contacts for my own safety and for me to be able to properly care for my patients. Several calls to other OD offices yielded no luck, everyone was closed and I wasn't getting any return calls from my messages pleading for some assistance. Dr. Yamane came to the rescue! Not only did he fill my prescription quickly, he also PERSONALLY drove to my house and dropped off sample contacts in my mailbox so that I could work my overnight shift in the emergency department. I was actually surprised when I saw his email in my inbox saying that he had stopped by my house to drop off some sample contacts so that I could have some before my order arrived. You have won a patient for life and I'm sad we lost touch. I will be back for my next eye exam. You went over and beyond and I can't thank you enough. I sing your praises now to everyone who is looking for an new OD. read more

My appointment with Dr Yamane began with a friendly welcome and initial eye test by a very sweet, gentle, and accommodating nurse, who politely and efficiently completed three different tests. Dr. Yamane is also pleasant, thorough and efficient, and comfortable to interact with. I perused through the frames as I was covered for Ken's and frames through my insurance, but preferred to have updated lenses put into my old frames. The clarity, focus, and comfort of the adjusted lenses inspired a "sigh of aaahhh" when I retrieved the completed adjustment. I absolutely appreciate going to this office for happy read more

DR Yamane is very professional, always take his time and makes sure that I get the proper contact lenses for my eyes. Now I can see & drive safe. Thank you DR Yamane & all the staffs thatso pleasant to work with. Highly recommend this business to everyone that needs the BEST OPTOMETRIST,You will be happy to work with DR Jon Yamane. read more

Five stars for the doctor and the staff, a bit less for the limited selection of frames.. but hey, I can find those elsewhere! I was one of those "have to get in at the last minute on the last weekend of the year to use my vision allowance" people... and they couldn't have been nicer about it! They didn't have an immediate opening, but put me on the cancellation list and managed to get me in later in the day. I had my pre/exam with the staff, who walked me through all the eye health tests- from color blindness and peripheral vision to glaucoma. Then I had the actual exam with Dr. Y who explained my overall eye health (and we talked contacts as well). Really appreciate the team here. read more

My update for this place is that they are just as awesome as they were for my first visit there. I sent my husband here and he loved the experience as well. Been going to Dr. Yamane for a few years now and I always have a great experience. The wait time is always minimal, and the staff is super friendly. Last year Dr. Yamane recommended Dr. Tooma for Lasik so I went for it, and now I have perfect vision! Seriously changed my life! After the surgery Dr. Yamane checked up on me every few weeks, then months to make sure everything was healing properly. Would definitely recommend him! He's also a really funny and nice guy to talk to, which is a nice plus. read more

Returned for my glasses and could not be happier. I don't know when my glasses have fit so perfectly without adjustments! I know I needed a change from my former optometrist/opticians but didn't realize how badly until I visited Dr. Yamane and staff! Daisy and Monica are exceptional opticians and helped me pick out very flattering glasses and also helped me be a little more modern - I LOVE IT! Delighted from Dr. Yamane's exam to fitting! Highly recommend. P.S. AND they take Eyemed (Scan)!! read more

Dr Yamame is THE BEST! And he has surrounded himself with a very caring staff. Love it!

Dr Yamane and his staff are the absolute best in the business. As soon as we entered the office, we were greeted with a smile. With cutting edge technology and a wide array of frames I felt good knowing a proper assessment was going to be made. Dr Yamane's 17 years of experience and easy going nature really made the visit awesome. As we waited for our turn, you could see how much Dr Yamane cared for his patients as they finished their exams and left the Office with great spirits. This optometrists office also has a wide variety of Frames to choose from. If you have a choice of a place to choose for your eye needs, this is your hands down best location. read more

This is a long over due review. I love Dr. Jon he really cares about how you see and how contacts fit you well. He is very professional and down to earth. His whole team is also very caring and courteous. Last year I purchased contacts without getting a new prescription and so I decided to have another consultation just to make sure my prescription didn't change and it did! I was able to exchange my new contacts! I just referred my boyfriend and he loved his experience. Hands down one of my best eye doctor, in Orange County! read more

I'm so glad I found Dr. Yamane's office! He was very personable, friendly, and excellent at his profession. As a first-time patient, he took the time to get to know me and my eye health. He gave a very thorough exam and took special consideration of my eye medical history. I've had slightly different prescriptions for each eye for the past 10+ years and he was my first doctor to suggest making the prescriptions equal in each eye. I now see more clearly and experience way less eye strain, if any, as before. His whole office staff are all very friendly and polite when assisting me in scheduling, pre-exam, and post-exam when ordering and figuring the best cost for my contact lenses with insurance and rebates. I look forward to visiting Dr. Yamane's office for my annual eye exams. read more

Dr Yamane really knows his business, I have been coming here and his previous location in Huntington Beach for many years

I was a patient at another optometrist ever since I started wearing glasses 15 years ago and my only regret was not coming to Dr. Yamane's office from the get-go. I won't go anywhere else now! Dr. Yamane's office staff is ALWAYS delightful, welcoming, professional, kind and all smiles. Olga is absolutely a sweetheart and so patient to work with. They always provide free samples and ask if I ever need extras :) Dr. Yamane is an outstanding professional. I've recommended him to many colleagues, friends and family. Friendly, warm and kind, he ALWAYS takes time out to answer all my questions. As busy as the office always gets, he will take the time out to provide the most outstanding service and advice. Note: this is not a solicited review. They truly deserve 10/5 stars. read more

Ok, Jon Yamane, I even followed you to your new offices - that's how much I like you! :) My friends referred me to Dr. Yamane when they were in the HB office. I like his staff, they are all seasoned and friendly and knowledgable and SO helpful with anything you need. Dr. Yamane is truly a GREAT OD, he has excellent bedside manner, meaning he makes you feel comfortable, heard and communicates clearly. He asks questions to make sure he is thorough and will listen to any of your concerns as well. I even brought in a pair of older frames I had no idea what they were for, they were able to tell me exactly what they were and he even told me to hang on to them since they might be the perfect prescription in a couple years! Wow, talk about not trying to upsell or oversell. This office is a family-like environment and I enjoy my annual eye visits. By the way, if you have to get dilated, you can schedule it for another day for FREE. So I often go back on a Saturday when I can get a ride. Great office, fast turn-around time on glasses! read more

Dr. Yamane is such a great Doctor, and even better person. He really listens, takes the time with each patient. You never feel like you're being rushed out for the next paying customer. He is genuinely concerned and caring about your eye health. He works with those of us who have NO Vision Insurance, and his staff is very professional and super friendly and accommodating. I especially love Olga, his Pre-tester. She's so adorable, and cracks me up. She's from , I think Ukraine, but can't remember for sure, but I LOVE IT, when you have to take that eye test that has the Red, Hot Air Balloon, and she tells you to look at " The Air Hot Balloon"!! I've been going to Dr. Yamane for my eye-care needs for about three years or so now and his office is the best. Olga is very nice and goes the extra mile to make sure you are comfortable and all your needs are met. She's really great. Dr. Yamane is very friendly and takes the time to know his patients and is very professional. He takes the time to answer all my questions and I never feel rushed. Dr Yamane didn't want to help me. I had glasses made by his office a little more than a year ago. Lenses of my glasses started having tiny bubbles all over and when I addressed that, Dr's opinion was that outside aerosol got into them. ??!! That's an unusual approach to let me just go away. It's only 1 1/2 yrs old pair. Never coming back, and sharing that with my friends and family. read more

I went in for an eye exam because I had a twitch in my left eye. Dr. Yamane, was very nice, and personable. The office staff are incredibly friendly and caring as well. He was able to diagnose to me that i had high cholesterol at a young age and that I should see a medical physician and change my diet just by looking at my eyes! If you are looking for an amazing optometry...you've found the right place! Stop yelping and checking out other places...because if you do...you'll find nothing that comes close to Dr. Jon Yamane's 5 star rating! Dr. Jon Yamane is #1 in HB! Guaranteed! So, I ordered my first pair of glasses from Dr. Jon when he first opened his practice back in 2004. Talk about quality!!! I still have them and they are stil going strong. I originally had my Prada glasses set as sunglasses using the highest quality lenses at the time. Not a scratch after 8 years! Now, i decided to revert them back to regular glasses...since I love these frames so much! Yeah...they were a bit pricey back then...but when glasses lasts for over 8 years...it's so worth it! The products at this optometry are top notch! You know that you're getting good brands at the highest quality. Customer service is fantastic. The technicians are so patient and knowledgable about the products and fitting. How many technicians can adjust your glasses perfect for your face in less then 5 minutes? My glasses fit perfectly!!! Yeah. Both my sisters and brother in laws comes to see Dr. Jon because he is really a honest doctor with great ethics and professionalism. He is super nice, trustworthy, and really takes pride in his quality of care that he provides for his patients. At the end of the day, he's all about taking care of your vision and your eye health. Forget the big box costco, target, or lens crafters...if you want quality care, you need to go to a quality doctor that treats you like a special patient and not like a membership id #.
