As usual, I received top notch service from Dr. Yamane and his staff. My husband and I had appointments within a week of each other and we both felt so well-taken care of by Olga and the other supportive staff in this office. Dr. Yamane remembers his clients and things going on in their lives even after a year or so of not seeing them--he's a Doctor that really cares! We both got glasses ordered and the came in very quickly. I recently dropped in without an appointment and all the ladies in the office worked hard to help me with my lens issue quickly! This is the most welcoming office I've ever been to. Dr. Yamane is really kind and explains everything very well so you really understand the images that are taken of your eye. I've never had an optometrist go into as much detail as he did. He also made a note to watch me for glaucoma since I have the genetics from both parents - which most optometrist have brushed me off for in the past. The staff are also equally amazing. I can be really indecisive when it comes to choosing frames and lenses options but they're always so patient and helpful when I ask for their opinions. I can also be really picky about how my glasses fit and they have never made me feel bad about it or made me feel rushed. As for the frames selection, a lot of their frames are on the higher end but they do have a small section for more affordable brands. If they don't have a specific frame you are looking for, they can see if they can order them for you but you will have to cover the shipping costs. I did this last year and to me it's worth it because I didn't come across a place that offered that to me. Personally, this office deserves a 15/10. Jon has been my go to optometrist since I was in either elementary or middle school which feels crazy to say since I'm 31 now but I can whole heartedly say that he is the best in the business. He knows his stuff and I always feel good knowing my eye health is in his hands. He breaks stuff down in a pretty easy to understand way. He cares about his patients as well and it really shows. His staff is always incredibly helpful as well. I've seen some come and go, but they are always knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to picking the right pair of glasses or contacts. The office is also always willing to make adjustments if needed with the pair you choose. They also have a wide variety of options for glasses as well. Overall if you are looking for an optometrist, I could not recommended Jon enough. He truly is a master at his craft and he'll probably be my optometrist till he retires. read more

I used to be a patient of Dr. Yamane before I headed off to medical school. He was a great optometrist with awesome bedside (I guess chairside in this instance) manners(?). After medical school and a few insurance switches, we lost touch. However, fast forward to when the pandemic started in March of 2020, I realized that I was running low on my daily contacts and all OD offices were shut down due to COVID-19. I don't normally wear my daily contacts to work in the Emergency Department as I prefer to wear glasses. However, given that I started wearing PPE, glasses weren't an option due to all the fogging and discomfort from the temple and temple tips under all my PPE during a 12 hour shift. I attempted to contact my OD at the time on several occasions as I was in desperate need of contacts for my own safety and for me to be able to properly care for my patients. Several calls to other OD offices yielded no luck, everyone was closed and I wasn't getting any return calls from my messages pleading for some assistance. Dr. Yamane came to the rescue! Not only did he fill my prescription quickly, he also PERSONALLY drove to my house and dropped off sample contacts in my mailbox so that I could work my overnight shift in the emergency department. I was actually surprised when I saw his email in my inbox saying that he had stopped by my house to drop off some sample contacts so that I could have some before my order arrived. You have won a patient for life and I'm sad we lost touch. I will be back for my next eye exam. You went over and beyond and I can't thank you enough. My appointment with Dr Yamane began with a friendly welcome and initial eye test by a very sweet, gentle, and accommodating nurse, who politely and efficiently completed three different tests. Dr. Yamane is also pleasant, thorough and efficient, and comfortable to interact with. I perused through the frames as I was covered for Ken's and frames through my insurance, but preferred to have updated lenses put into my old frames. Five stars for the doctor and the staff, a bit less for the limited selection of frames.. but hey, I can find those elsewhere! I was one of those "have to get in at the last minute on the last weekend of the year to use my vision allowance" people... and they couldn't have been nicer about it! They didn't have an immediate opening, but put me on the cancellation list and managed to get me in later in the day. I had my pre/exam with the staff, who walked me through all the eye health tests- from color blindness and peripheral vision to glaucoma. Then I had the actual exam with Dr. Y who explained my overall eye health (and we talked contacts as well). Really appreciate the team here. read more

Been going to Dr. Yamane for a few years now and I always have a great experience. The wait time is always minimal, and the staff is super friendly. Last year Dr. Yamane recommended Dr. Tooma for Lasik so I went for it, and now I have perfect vision! Seriously changed my life! After the surgery Dr. Yamane checked up on me every few weeks, then months to make sure everything was healing properly. Would definitely recommend him! I'm so glad I found Dr. Yamane's office! He was very personable, friendly, and excellent at his profession. As a first-time patient, he took the time to get to know me and my eye health. He gave a very thorough exam and took special consideration of my eye medical history. I've had slightly different prescriptions for each eye for the past 10+ years and he was my first doctor to suggest making the prescriptions equal in each eye. I now see more clearly and experience way less eye strain, if any, as before. His whole office staff are all very friendly and polite when assisting me in scheduling, pre-exam, and post-exam when ordering and figuring the best cost for my contact lenses with insurance and rebates. Ok, Jon Yamane, I even followed you to your new offices - that's how much I like you! :) My friends referred me to Dr. Yamane when they were in the HB office. I like his staff, they are all seasoned and friendly and knowledgable and SO helpful with anything you need. Dr. Yamane is truly a GREAT OD, he has excellent bedside manner, meaning he makes you feel comfortable, heard and communicates clearly. He asks questions to make sure he is thorough and will listen to any of your concerns as well. I even brought in a pair of older frames I had no idea what they were for, they were able to tell me exactly what they were and he even told me to hang on to them since they might be the perfect prescription in a couple years! Wow, talk about not trying to upsell or oversell. This office is a family-like environment and I enjoy my annual eye visits. By the way, if you have to get dilated, you can schedule it for another day for FREE. So I often go back on a Saturday when I can get a ride.
