Dr. Brown is a great doctor. The front staff is very incompetent. I went here years ago and had a great experience and decided to come back and also recommend other family members. So now (2024) coming back has been a horrible experience. Most of staff is rude and pushy, and have no true costumer service skills. The guy that's been hired for the front in my opinion has no reason to be there. He acts as if he hates dealing with people and they are a burden to him. Also literally told me a problem that happened concerning my ordered glasses way my problem and was extremely rude. I feel bad for recommending this office to family because it has not held up. Continues to be the very best eye doctor you will ever find. About one year ago, I experienced a serious retina detachment (macula off). Dr Brown met me at his office (on his day off!) and proceeded to call around until he found a specialist he was satisfied with to send me to. I've been seeing physicians, specialist, and optometrist with my same insurance company for the last 5 plus years and never asked for my social security number by any. This seems sketchy. I love that I found Dr. Brown's office, it's always been so easy and no hassle no up selling, just good customer service. And low and behold my prescription didn't change for once! I swear it's because I have been coming to Dr. Brown's office consistently for the last 3 years, and I do truly feel that he has kept a good eye (haha no pun intended) on me as a patient. I just called to schedule an appointment for annual check up. The lady answered the phone was very mean. I have a anthem but she kept telling me what is the name of vision. and i was not sure what means. and another phone rang at her office, all of sudden she screamed saying some one answer the phone!! during i am talking to her. what a rude service. she told me you have to call HR of insurance. I never had a problem with insurance. I just gave Identification number and they can find out. but this office does not do it. read more

Dr. Brown is one of the most professional Optometrist I've ever met. Very friendly and easy going. But he listens to you. I was just talking to Dr. Brown the other day and we were trying to think back to when I first started seeing him as an eye doctor. We were both pretty sure that it was pretty close to when he opened his practice there in Costa Mesa. Amazing how time flies. Staff is very friendly and also professional and are always willing to help you make your selection. With the years of experience on their side you're sure to get the best pair glasses or contacts for your needs. The only thing I would like to see different is a little bit more selection of Frames to choose from. But that is just my feeling. Dr. Brown is the BEST optometrist! Very gracious and friendly, but he also goes above and beyond for his patients. After having pain in my eye for a few days, I decided to go to my regular optometrist Dr. Brown. I'm very bad with my eyes, very sensitive, too scared to even put contacts in! So when he discovered there was a small piece of metal stuck in my eye, he worked very calmly and quickly and got it out in five minutes! Not only that, but when I was feeling the eye pain again a couple days later, we called him and he told us to come in on Saturday so he could give me eye a look. He's closed on Saturdays. He only came to the office just to check on my eye. Now if that's not a god Doctor than I don't know what it. Dr. Brown I am so grateful! Been coming to Dr Jeffrey Brown for years - Probably going on my 7th or 8th year. I was referred to him by a friend and I've never had to have find a reason to look anywhere else. The staff is caring and understanding. Dr Brown is the same himself and is well educated with it comes to the health of your eyes. The place is small and hidden in the corner in a small plaza. No issues with parking and the wait time is no more then 10 minutes tops. read more

This was my first time ever seeing an optometrist and I'm glad I went to Dr. Brown. The office is clean, the staff is helpful and Dr. Brown is very thorough. He took the time to explain things to me, showed me images and conducted a full exam. I felt like he genuinely cared about me and my eyes. I took away one star because it cost me $80 to find out that nothing was wrong with my eyes. He literally recommended that I do my google homework and told me I don't need glasses for 20 years. I'm not sure what the usual cost of an exam was - but I wasn't expecting to pay that much. They also tried to charge me $36 for these photos they took on a fancy machine, but I didn't agree to that - so they removed it. Will I go back? Yes. I've ordered 2 pairs of glasses and 1 pair sunglasses over the last 5 years. Each time it hasn't gone smoothly. This last pair has cause me to give up on this office. I ordered glasses in January. Wasn't charged correctly, so they had to run my card again. Was told they would take 10 business days. I called on the 12th business day to check on them. Was told they probably be here in a couple days and they would call me. Called on business day 19 wanting to cancel. I was asked if I got the text 6 days earlier saying they were there and I replied I had not. Talked to the doctor, he asked what I wanted to do (expressed how cute they are) and I said I would pick them up. The next day I picked them up and he adjusted them. They didn't fit right so I went back to return them. He adjusted them again and said how cute they were. Still don't fit right. Went in and wanted to return them once again, doctor wasn't in but informed at the desk they don't take returns but she would have the doctor call me. Over a week later still haven't heard anything. If you don't take returns then why ask what I wanted to do when I called to cancel on the 19th business day or the next time I came in wanting to return them. That should be mentioned before a purchase and with any other discourse the office has. All what was done was adjustments and saying how cute they were. Very disappointed. Maybe my expectations were too high. I don't feel like the glasses and my face are a good fit. Them being "cute" should not be a reason to keep them if they aren't correct fit to wear. I really love Dr. Brown because he's always there when you need him! He's very gentle and understands what it feels like to get your eyes looked at and is willing to be gentle and not so aggressive. He really is concerned with the health of your eyes and asks your history without being too pushy. I've had my current glasses for about 6 years and walked in today to get the ears reshaped, easy peasy!! Just walked in told them what I needed and walked out with glasses that fit me perfectly :) Thank you!!! I love Dr. Brown and have sent him few of my co-workers and family. I wear glasses only for the computer at work and readers all the other times. Dr. B says my distance almost 0. But I can't see well enough without readers to read anything. But the one thing I love about Dr. Jeff is he won't sell your anything you don't need. If you just need readers he'll tell you to go buy some cheap ones. He won't try to sell you $100 specs just to read. I wore my 1st glasses at 5 and my mom went to the same ophthalmologist for years till he retired. She took us every year to get out eyes checked. And I encourge me girls too. read more
