    Spring Rolls
    Gary H.

Pros- Good Spring Rolls Cons- Dirty Store Dirty Setups Limited menu Food was less than average It's tough to do a review on a chineese restaurant as its almost all the same for the most part. I've lived down the road from this place for years and never went in, well today while riding our motorcycle my wife and I decided to stop in. It's clearly geared for take out as there was one table inside but we decided to dine in anyway. In the door It's cluttered with boxes and other miscellaneous things. Not real dirty but not real clean either. Some kid took our order from across the room as he leaned on a stack of boxes and couldn't get our order correct as the cook came out to get a understandingof what we ordered. The menu was typical of a Chinese resteraunt but was missing alot of favorites. The set up on the tables were in fact dirty (pictured). I went with General Tso Chicken which I never order but it's all I could find that I tempted me. My wife ordered Wings, fried rice and spring rolls because she couldn't find anything appealing. My wife's wings were terrible and were just large chicken pieces, her rice was bland and had very little of anything in it but, the spring rolls were larger than most but also pretty good. My General Tso Chicken was so tough and loaded with sinue that I just left it. Bottom line- don't bother, much better 5 miles down the road.

Unfortunately, mostly bland tasting chicken dishes. I came to try this spot after a friend told me it was a good spot he tried once. I've heard of Hakka crispy chicken, but never had it before, so I ventured out here to try the following: Hakka Crispy Chicken Chicken Chili Both dishes surprisingly tasted very similar to each other. The chili chicken wasn't very spicy.

We frequently order takeout from here. The quality is always good and you get a lot of meat for the price. Our favorite to order is the Hunan Chicken which has a little heat to it and lots of vegetables. It comes with white rice but you can pay a little extra for lo mein. The inside is tiny but we just order takeout and now because of COVID it's takeout and delivery only. Service is always polite. This is the only Halal Chinese food that I know of in the area and it's great!

Hit or miss but for the most part, I'll say a HIT. Food is a lill pricy but its definitely worth it when its a hit.

For starters, we got the New England Clam Chowder and an order of Chickpea Fries. New England Clam Chowder - definitely a chowder and not a soup (heavy cream base) with a nice flavor and a healthy amount of clam bits. Chickpea Fries - A nice portion of well prepared fries. Nice crunch on the outside, but moist on the inside. Well seasoned and not oily. Comes with ketchup and an avocado lime ranch, which was ok. It's a huge portion and we took most of it home to enjoy later. Good use of chickpeas. Branzino - This is a whole fish split in half. Pretty easy to remove the bones oneself. The skin was nice and crunchy with the meat inside moist. Well prepared. I'm not a huge fan of dill and I think the seasoning of dill is a bit overdone here. (I'm pretty sure it's dill. Whatever it is, it's too heavy for me and detracts from the meal.). The wild rice side dish is very good. Lobster Roll - Excellent. My partner ordered this and the only comment was that the large was very big and next time they likely would get the small one. Lots of delicious, cold lobster meat. The fries also were excellent. The service overall was very good. Our food was served at an appropriate rate (apps, then main, which seems not to be important at a lot of restaurants these days) and the water service was excellent. Recommend this restaurant. I probably would not get the Branzino again because of the heavy dill seasoning, but there are other items in the menu that look interesting.

My wife had the Reuben, and I enjoyed a bowl of chili, the fish and chips, and a hard cider. Everything was delicious. The pub has a cozy, welcoming atmosphere, and the service was excellent. We left impressed and are already looking forward to our next visit. We will definitely be back!

We just had a few ciders, and they were a dollar off. For food, I got the haddock platter that came with Old Bay potato chips and veggies. I really loved the fish and those chips, but I found the veggies to have more butter than I'm typically comfortable with. And to me it was just that, not necessarily seasoning to upgrade the flavor. Otherwise, the bar area can get a little tight during peak hours, and there are plenty of lower tables to sit at. Seems like the place can I get busy on any given day, but it's a vibe! Everybody is really nice. Parking can be a challenge I feel like (somehow I got the last spot)... If it fills up, the adjacent lot is adamant about the parking only being for the few restaurants there. And the street parking is going to be a gamble.

The Chicken tenders weren't tender and the coating was over-salted. The full rack of BBQ Pork ribs was a winner, tender and meaty with great flavor. The Slow-smoked Chicken is delicious and a nice, moist change from the usual chicken treatments. The Smoked Chicken Wings were great too. I wouldn't get the Texas Beef Brisket or the Carolina Pulled Pork again, but they weren't bad, just lots of other choices that were better! The sides here are stand-outs too. I almost didn't get the vegetarian Collard Greens since I love collards cooked with meat but these were delicious -- they never made it to the microwave, they were so vinegary-good when I sampled them cold lol! The Mac & Cheese was good and cheesy. The baked beans were good but again vegetarian where I'd prefer meat included and I didn't care for the sweet sauce. The Skillet Cornbread is the best I've had, slightly sweet with a good corn flavor that made me decide to buy a WHOLE skillet rather than just the generously portioned slice next time, especially since it's such a good value. I do regret not trying the coleslaw and potato salad so again, next time. The little rolls are tasty too, moist and slightly sweet but it's a pity they aren't burger-size so you can make a sandwich with all that delicious meat and sides.

I don't recall any meat in the greens. And, the Mac and cheese, I enjoyed the texture, but wish the flavor profile had sharp cheddar cheese, but it was still good. Positives the bread was extremely soft, reminded me of a steam bun. They were very stingy with the everything toppings, literally a couple of pieces of lettuce, barely any, so scarce that I thought they forgot to put them on there. The steak was bland and lacked seasoning. For the up charge for the double meat, the amount that you got and the limited amount of toppings this really missed a mark. Wings I got the soy garlic sauce, I liked that it was a light sauce. The wings were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. For the price, I was not expecting very small party wings like my fingers were longer than some of those wings. I get that it's Silver Spring, however, the price point should match the quality and portions. Well, this place didn't feed my soul; perhaps it does yours.

We ordered our beers, wings and LA galbi bowl. The spicy soy wings were nicely flavored with enough kick that I ordered another 10 wings to bring home. My friend Danielle ordered the sweet and spicy which she could have devoured but decided to keep some to bring home. The other gal order the LA galbi bowl with runny egg - she devoured it too and it is new to the menu. We were a little disappointed that they have removed the ramen to the menu - that is why it is scored as 4 star. The person manning the bar was pretty attentive. Mike's is just a comfortable place to catch up with friends - not busy or crowded! Highly recommend their Korean Chicken Wings!
