Excellent food, great service. This is a fancier joint than the places I typically prefer, but if you are looking for a night on the town, or a dining place to impress, this is definitely the spot to go. They don't have a large menu selection since the menu rotates everyone once in a while, however, everything that I had so far has been very well prepared, from sushi, duck, to steaks. Indigo, definitely has one of the more exotic menus in Springfield, though that's not really hard to do, but like I said, no matter how weird it sounds, everything is very well prepared. The atmosphere is a dark sophisticated feel with artsy paintings of some dog everywhere, but its nicely done with a modern feel. Appetizers will run our around $10 per app, and dinners will be around 20-30. If you're looking for a really nice date place, this is your place or a fancy place for an occasion. We love this place. Great staff, very friendly and they won't let your water glass go empty. We've eaten here several times. The decor is quirky and interesting. The lighting is very low and great for a date. Their food! Tonight I tried their spicy sausage and tomato soup and I wished that was on the menu every time! It delivered. We split some sushi and in the past it has always been phenomenal, however tonight it was a little heavy on the rice, but still good. I love the presentation of the sushi served on a stone. Their meals are hearty portions. You will be full when your done. I love these local places, and I also love how they support other local businesses. They serve Rolling Meadows beer, which is made here in Springfield (Cantrall to be exact). Indigo actually was the restaurant that introduced my hubby to this brand and it is now his favorite. This is a great restaurant especially for Springfield. It is totally not a Seafood restaurant as it is currently listed. It is however a good example of what I might call new American eclectic. It is very darkly lit and intimate however jeans are totally appropriate. It has sort of a new age appeal to the interior. The menu changes every once in a while and while it is small, it offers generally of few choices from each meat category as well as a pasta and vegetarian dish too. I believe all of the entrees come with a very nice new age salad (walnuts, cranberries, etc). It has changed owners and chefs several times in the past 15 years but it still remains quite an excellent choice for out-of-towners. With advance notice they have a decent sized private room for parties. The bar is also a good choice for wine as the selection is rather good. read more

My husband and I ate here to commemorate our first date night in a very looong time, so we planned to go all out. Server was immediately attentive and friendly, she went over the specials and answered a couple questions for us. First she brought the drinks we ordered (1 bottled beer, 1 glass Italian Pinot Grigio), then shortly after our appetizers arrived. My husband loves calamari and orders it every chance he gets, so I didn't pay attention to the description on the menu. But this calamari was spectacular! So unique, lightly fried, but tossed in a delicious salad/dressing. Slightly spicy, but very flavorful. We loved that! We also ordered a maki roll- the blue dog roll. It was fresh crab (not imitation... at least I think it was), cucumber, avocado, and crispy rice. It was okay- tasty, but somewhat bland. It was served with the traditional accoutrements (soy sauce, pickled ginger, and wasabi) and also a couple sauces- both mayonnaise based. We ate it all, so we obviously liked it, but I wouldn't say it was the most delicious sushi I had ever eaten. Another glass of wine (Rioja) was ordered and arrived before entrees: New York strip steak, tuna, and king crab legs. Oh my! We shared all our selections, but I ate the majority of the tuna- so so so good! The yellowfin was delicious- crusted with sesame and seared rare, it ate like a steak... so meaty! The cabbage slaw was flavorful and a great accompaniment to the fish. My only issue with the dish was the ponzu sauce- it was more like a broth on the plate, and kinda made everything messy. Still delicious though! My husband really enjoyed the New York steak- I believe it was aged, and there was a smokey chipotle butter served on top. The veggies were plain and nothing special, and the mashed potatoes were good, but could have used a little salt. It was a good sized strip steak, and the small amount I ate was pretty tasty. The standout for me, though, was the king crab legs. I could eat crab every day of the week, so it's something I really enjoy. The server did a great job "selling" us on these, and I'm so glad we did! These king crab legs were huge! The perfect size for 2 people to share with entrees. Perfectly cooked, salty, and easy to eat, as they were split open for us. I might have used my fingers a bit too much, but no way I was going to leave any delicious morsel behind! We did not have dessert, but were more than fulfilled at the end of the meal. It was a really enjoyable dinner, nice service, and super delicious food. This was a pleasant surprise after a long travel day and visiting for a business dinner. The menu was a diverse with seafood and standard cuisine. We enjoyed the brie for appetizer and a nice house salad. The lamb chops were some of the best I have had and paired with a nice bottle of BV wine made for a great meal. The ambience was kind of strange with a series of dog portraits ( I will assume they resembled "Indigo" the restaurants namesake) which had a cute terrier style pup with strung out looking eyes..which I found funny and disturbing at the same time. The waiter was nice but seemed to be learing how to wait tables, but not enough of a complaint to dock any stars. Would visit again and highly recommend read more

I used to live in Springfield and have held several banquet events in their private room, as well as dined personally on special occasions. This is one of my favorite places, as they prepare excellent cuisine. I didn't give it 5 stars only because it is expensive for most diners out--it's a special occasion place for me. Also, the dog art is cute, but can be overwhelming to sit among. Best pork chop I've ever had was made here, as well as the lamb dish I had on mother's day. Dessert has been delicious as well. The private dining room is outstanding for small to medium sized events (30-70 ppl). No dogs in here, just a pretty blue wall and nice space. They accommodated my decorating needs and table/seating layout. The wait staff was courteous and helpful to all the attendees. I recommend Indigo! read more

Coworkers and I ventured here to try the hot stone steak appetizer. It was amazing! The steak was seasoned perfectly!! They bring you 6 small slices of raw beef and a sizzling hot large black stone sitting on a bed of sea salt.. and you grill the steak yourself!! Delicious way to start a dinner! Be careful when handling the steak with chopsticks.. if you drop it in the salt.. (multiple times as we did)... it ends up really REALLY salty!! The sushi is solid.. lobster mac and cheese is very yummy and a good thing to share with the table. They have very entertaining decorations around the room... there's giant pictures of cartoon dogs wearing random costumes.. go figure.. the service.. is hit or miss though... Overall, very good food! Horrible place. Horrible service. Reservation wasn't honored. Small food portion. We called to make reservation for two people at 7p. Arrived and was told that our table is not ready, and made us sit by the bar for an hour. I had to grab several waiters that walked to inquire as to why there was an empty table that can seat 2 people is not occupied. All they could say is "Oh we didn't know you wanted to sit there since it's so close to the door". I said, "We would've taken it but no one offered it to us.". Finally after an hour later, we were seated. But by this time we couldn't stay long because we had another appointment to attend to and our food will never get to us in time. We complained about the rsvp not being honored and how we can't dine in but have to order our food to go now. The Waitress was indifferent and didn't care to offer us something to make up for lost time. If we had known the restaurant doesn't commit to an rsvp time, we would've dined some where else or ordered food to go. Why would a restaurant take reservation when they can't honor it? The food portion was small, enough only to feed a child. I'll never come back. read more

We r experienced international food n drink lovers. Atmosphere of a date place. Quiet, able to talk to my wife. Good options on drinks. I thought wine bottles overpriced. They made my vodka martini well. Wifey got speciality drinks- she says "ok" for the grapefruit mojito and the indigo collins. We only got small plates. We liked the flat bread and the duck enchilada. You must get the duck enchilada (they give u two), possibly two orders. Do not get the crab cakes or mac n cheese- they r not worth the $10-12. Desert is a must, we liked the cobbler. After living in Springfield my entire life I ventured over to indigo for the first time recently! The interior is one large room with many tables with candles on the tables and darker paints. The menu has a nice variety. We started out with the egg appetizer that was not very good. We tried the standard Cesar salad that was just average. We started to get nervous and our dinner arrived. The steak was AMAZING and the garlic crust was Devine! Their cheesecake desert was delicious as well! I had baked potato with the steak and it was good as well. The next time I go I will skip the appetizers and the salad and just go for the main course! read more

Eat here almost every time I'm in Springfield, once a month. The tuna is the best tuna I have ever had. It is served with a warm cabbage slaw which is absolutely mouthwatering and amazing. I ate here recently to celebrate a birthday. I'd never been before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. We ordered and got our appetizer. The crab cakes were cooked perfectly...deep fried, yet light and flaky inside. But that was all. There was no flavor other than the fried breading on the outside. The sauce it came in was so lightly flavored, that the oil that dripped from the crab cakes completely overwhelmed it. Our entrees, lobster and filet mignon were tender but tasteless, and the risotto the filet sat on was dry and undercooked. I nearly cracked a tooth on a bite of the risotto. The cooked leeks that garnished the filet were the most flavorful things we ate that night, but they were a little sandy. The pounding disco music was great, if I'd been there to dance. A disco ball on the ceiling was the only thing missing if it had been a dance club. But in an upscale restaurant, such loud disco music was not charming nor was it pleasant. To round out the experience, the service was appalling. Our server tended to throw the dishes onto the table in our general direction and we sorted it out ourselves. I went without water for about 10 minutes and finally had to flag the server down and ask for it. She made very little eye contact with us when she was at our table but when we were walking out the door she became animated and friendly. Because it was a birthday celebration, we decided to split a piece of cake and it was excellent! Two meals, an appetizer and dessert with no alcohol came to a whopping $130. That figure was after the server added a 20% gratuity to the bill. We won't be back. read more

The food was very good. However, we were there 3/17 and I was sick for 3 days. I had the Sea Bass. Tests showed food poisoning. I didn't post it because it might not have been Indigo. However, now a friend had the same symptoms and was there 4/1. She had the Salmon. I have never had illness from here before but wanted to caution others. read more

The blond and I frequent this place as it's the best place in Springfield to get consistently good food and service. Steak, salmon, pork and chicken are all delicious as is the creme brûlée. Great selection of wine and spirits including some really great bourbons. The staff is knowledgable and courteous. In my opinon, Indigo doesn't live up to the hype. As good as the food may be, it's not great, and certainly not worth the price. While stellar sushi is indeed worth splurging on, I have had better sushi even in Springfield, and for much better prices (check out Hunan and PAO). While the sushi seems fresh, it only tastes decent, and the sushi chef does a poor job of crafting the actual sushi, as pieces are often oversized, making it nearly impossible to eat in one bite (as they should be). I don't recall what the other menu offerings are like, but if they're anything like Indigo's sushi, save your money and go elsewhere. read more

Went there last night for Valentine's Day dinner. Had reservations for 9pm and was seated promptly. Ordered drinks and the crab cake appetizer. once appetizer arrived we realized we were never given napkins or plates to eat the crab cakes on. every other table had these items. oh, and speaking of the table it was the smallest table in the restaurant, so small the menu would barely fit on the table. it took about 5 minutes to flag someone down to ask for napkins and a plate. it took 5 minutes because the staff runs around ignoring customers. we finished the appetizer before we had plates to eat on. napkins arrived, and the house salad came soon after. the waitress spilled my date's salad on her lap and said "good thing you had a napkin." Yeah, the napkin WE HAD TO MAKE A SPECIAL REQUEST FOR! fortunately, the salad and spilled oil did not get on my date, because Indigo was clearly not in the mood to care. entrees arrive (ny strip and salmon) and both were excellent. after dinner I go to the restroom and it is trashed. I try to wash my hands and there is no soap in the bottle on the sink. this is not a place I will return to. the food was great, but there were too many mistakes made, and that table we had was a joke. read more

Coming from Quincy, this place rocks! Lobster was great, appetizers tasty (we had steak on the hot rock and the hot dates). Flourless chocolate cake was better than the tiramisu in my opinion because the tiramisu was sweet and lacked that bitter chocolate and espresso/kahlua kick. read more

This is a hidden gem. I would have never found it if it wasn't for someone recommending it! The inside was a complete shock and it was absolutely lovely. It seems that they get a full dinner crowd so reservations are a good idea. We had a party of 3 and were able to get seated right without the reservations (probably because we are pretty). We ordered ALL of the tapas (small plates) that were on the menu to share, the only disappointing items were the shrimp(too simple) and the duck enchiladas (too dry and soggy). Well let's see where to start... Ok first off this was a delivery order to my home. We ordered the sea bass with the risotto, so we receive the order and we open up the bag and out comes little cardboard boxes with my sea bass and risotto in the box. I mean the fish was fine but that risotto was just all over that brown cardboard box soaking thru the bottom!! That really turned me off to this place. Our service was poor, which was attributed to the holiday, and would have been overlooked had the entire experience not been so bad. I have to say that for all the recommendations we got before trying Indigo for the first time, I was disappointed. I understand that this is not my normal Chicago restaurant scene and that I am spoiled with that, but also wasn't expecting that. The food was nicely cooked, except the blackened fish special that wasn't served blackened, just pan seared, tasty but nothing was out of the ball park memorable. Our bill was $190 including tip for a shared appetizer, shared salad, 2 entrees, 2 cocktails, and 2 glasses of wine.
