Indigo is typically one of our favorite restaurants but Saturday night just didn't come up to scratch. Our waitress was excellent!! So service was perfect. The wines were lovely. For appetizers we had calamari, dates and Brie (party of 8). Appetizers were all excellent. So things are still going well. For my family we got sea bass, steak that was on the menu (NY strip ?) and the red snapper special. Steak was cooked correctly but didn't seem as flavorful as ones we'd had in the past. Sea bass was fine but something wasn't right at all with the side of sautéed spinach. It was very bitter and downright slimy. Red snapper was tasty but my sauce to fish ratio was rather low. I would have liked some more sauce. The side of sautéed arugula was quite good but that was the only side. A fingerling potato would have been a nice addition. Another person in our party had salmon. It was cooked correctly but the root vegetables were so over cooked they were hard and inedible. On a positive note- the pork chop was proclaimed to be fantastic. I'm hoping that this evening was an anomaly and that the next time I go the food will be wonderful. Service was ok. Food was horrible and overpriced for the quality. Our Calamari appetizer was mostly vegetables & and you hardly find calamari. My wife's lobster bisque didn't taste like lobster at all, it tasted like Campbell's tomato soup. Salmon was horrible & poorly cooked. Pork was like rubber no taste at all covered with wiered cold onion dressing, tasted so bad. I feel really bad for Springfield customers that wrote a good review, they definitely haven't had any better. The atmosphere was confusing. It seems they are trying to hard to be a trendy restaurant. Was not impressed. The place is too dark (what are you trying to hide?) Also noise level was incredible and the restaurant was not even a quarter of the way full. Service was slow. I ordered a daily special flat bread. The toppings were very skimpy and the flat bread itself was overcooked and had an ashy consistency. I ordered a caprese-like salad. The tomatoes were tasteless. No reason for tasteless tomatoes in central IL in July. Others at my table were satisfied but not wowed by their meals. I have been there in the past 2 times. Will probably not return. read more

Traveling through central Illinois we decided on Indigo because we wanted fish and saw that Indigo did sushi. Thought we could not go wrong. I ordered yellow fin tuna. Presentation was great. Tuna was not. I had never encountered yellow fin that was tough with striated with "gristle." Worse, it had no tuna flavor. If that was yellow fin tuna, which I doubt, it was the lowest grade I have ever eaten. The bed of vegetables it was served on was good. Our other fish was Mahi Mahi. It was not bad. The vegetables were not great. Service was excellent. From our experience, stay away from sushi and seafood. read more

Amazing food! Everything from our appetizer to our dessert was delicious. The service was prompt and we were well attended to. I had the snapper which was cooked to perfection and my boyfriend ordered a steak which was cooked to the appropriate level he requested. We both loved the dates wrapped in bacon! We found it to be a romantic spot but we also agreed it would be a nice place to go to for drinks and appetizers. read more

Indigo - Night of the Bleu-Gasm! My husband took me out to dinner for my birthday and he could not have made a better choice! We had the VIP treatment all night long. We prefer to sit at the bar, which wasn't a problem for reservations. The staff is always excellent and goes out of their way to remember the names of repeat customers. Not only did the owners join us in a birthday toast, they really rolled out the red carpet. I think it is important to mention that we have been treated like old friends since the very first time we came in, and it just keeps getting better each time we visit. My husband had let Mike know of my affection for all things bleu cheese, so he insisted that he would take care of putting something amazing together for me. Amazing is an understatement. I kid you not when I say that this may have very well been the absolute best meal I have ever eaten in my life! Seriously. I consider myself to be somewhat of a food snob, and I LOVE flavor. If your food is good, I will let you know, and the same can be said if the food is not good. Honest feedback is the only way for an establishment to meet the desires of their customers. With that being said, I should repeat, this may have been the absolute best meal I have ever had...EVER. I should also mention that although what I had was not on the menu, their menu does change fairly regularly, so you may find this on the menu next time you're in. The meal started with pork belly. Let's just pause for a moment of silence out of respect for the most luscious thing that we, as carnivores, have recently decided to put on menus everywhere. Ok, now, about this pork belly...it was prepared beautifully, displayed with bleu cheese & cheddar crisps, and drizzled in a sauce that made me want to lick the plate. It was a combination of drippings from the prime rib, sriracha, and stilton. Oh.My.Goodness. Next, the main attraction. A filet, which was prepared PERFECTLY to temperature, topped with a stilton panko crust. I should explain that I LOVE bleu cheese with my steak...as in an obscene amount. I was more than a little concerned when it didn't appear to be a large amount of bleu. Well, fear not, my friends, it didn't need to be a lot. This was perfect. When I say perfect, I mean that any more would have been too much, any less would have left me wanting more, but this was perfect. On the side was roasted potatoes in...you guessed it, more bleu. This was a gorgonzola cream sauce that I may have actually licked off of the plate. Roasted veggies as a side as well were awesome, and I have no idea what awesomeness they put on those because they were just simple and beautiful. I realize I've gone on and on about the food...and it is certainly deserving of the main stage in this story. But I can't finish this without mentioning again how special they truly made me feel. Levi was behind the bar and never left me thirsty or un-entertained. Mike and Samah were so accommodating and thoughtful, I can't thank them enough. Over all, this night was amazing, the food was amazing, the staff was amazing, and Indigo delivered - big time. My compliments go out to the chefs, the staff, and the owners. The bleu-gasm will go down in history as the best meal I've ever eaten and I tell you, it will be mighty hard to top. I have frequented Indigo many times, and each time just seemed to get worse. From the service to the food, everything is lackluster. The owners don't care about service, they just want to get people in the door. The last time I went, the food was undercooked and we had to wait 3 hours! For the money you will spend here, there are much better restaurants in Springfield. Take your money and your appetite elsewhere! read more

Dark, quiet and intimate. It has a diverse menu and a great wine list. Their signature old-fashioned was excellent and Rebecca was a wonderful server. I also appreciated the manager checking in at each table. I would definitely go back. read more

The restaurant is a little dark, I was seated in a corner with no overhead light and I needed the candle to be able to read the menu. The central seating is more well lit, I don't consider this a problem with the place and if I was on a date it might be romantic, but like usual I was eating alone so it was more of a hassle. I started with a Manhattan with bulleit rye, it was good not much vermouth, strong pour of rye, it was missing the cherry. I ordered a ceaser salad, and they brought out a complimentary hummus/pita plate. The hummus was garlic-y the pita was alright, but along with that there were olives and roasted garlic it was a nice add on. The salad was standard, they are generous with the cheese so if you like it go for it, otherwise be aware they cut slabs of cheese for the salad not a shredded cheese. I had the lamb for an entree, good crust on it, sauce wasn't overpowering. The vegetables and roast potatoes that came with it were alright, but forgettable. Ended with the Creme Brulee, it was not the best I've had. It seems someone is a fan of the kitchen torch because the crust was thick, and a little too caramelized. The custard was good, but the crust took away from the appeal. I ended up eating half the crust then digging out the remaining custard from below. To many things to mention why my wife and I will never go back. Tried this restaurant 10 years ago. It was bad then. Not much has changed. Waitress seemed disappointed we ordered just water with our meal. Came back twice during the meal to see if we needed anything else to drink. Next to my chair was air mover running on the floor - for what ever reason. My wife ordered the Sea Bass - it was the only bright spot of the evening. read more

They advertise attire dressy? Noise level average? I guess if you're used to being in a day care center with unsupervised children it would be considered average but not for a quiet dinner to celebrate an anniversary. Food not bad, could take it or leave it but way overpriced. I got all dressed up for this, average food and a table of twenty loud obnoxious businessmen, plus the kids running around our table like monkeys on a cupcake. I really like Indigo. Their food is always consistently fresh, flavorful, and unique. Plus, the menu is always changing. Mondays are buy one get one free sushi (maki monday). My only complaint about this place is that service is hit or miss. When my husband and i went there for "maki monday," the waitress was not interested in providing good service to us. I assume she knew our bill wouldn't be $100, so her tip wouldn't be $20+ bucks and she didn't want to bother. read more

Had one great meal about 2 yrs ago. We've gone back twice since & experienced poor service, lukewarm to cold food (both times!) and the last time they left out most of the seafood in my pasta. I was supposed to have sea bass, scallops and shrimp. Only got shrimp. Apologized and took it off the bill but that's poor service for this type of restaurant. We'll not be back. read more

Outstanding meal, and arguably one of the best I have had in Springfield. Service was excellent. Every dish had some touch that made it stand out. Even what might seem a hum-drum addition to a menu in deviled eggs was well done. The menu is very overpriced. I ordered the salmon with rice and my husband ordered the New York Strip and Sushi. The sushi is terriblly expensive and the same rice that came with my salmon was the rice used for the sushi! The food was not worth the price. I will never go back. The food is not worth the price, it was one step up flame broiling at Burger King. The decor is a joke. The tables are fold-ups from Sam's Club. The chairs are upholstered as if their we part of a high school craft project. The fake art work is an insult to George Blue Dog Rodrigue. I was so very disappointed with this Restaurant. I attended with a group of friends and we were told by the owner that we were "not of the caliber" of people that he wants in his establishment. He went on to even name a restaurant that we should have went to. This place doesn't live up to its promises. Atmospheric restaurant with mood lighting and music. Menu is heavily Seafood. . . I'm a vegetarian and they did modify an appetizer for me to put the lobster on the side. . but. . not much else for me to eat here. Service was good. Food was descent. Atmosphere was so/so. The reason I'm only giving it two starts was the $9 up charge for a cup of soup. "For a small fee you can upgrade that side to a bowl of soup." ... NINE DOLLARS for a cup of soup? I'm ok, with spending money, but that just seemed shady. Descent food, but not worth the ridiculous up-charge of $18 for two cups of soup that you discover when they bring the bill. read more
