California burger $12
Kaitlyn C.

I went here on a Friday night and there weren't a lot of people here so we were able to get a table quickly. Our waiter was very nice, but it took him awhile to come check up on us. For example, I asked for some bread and it awhile for it to come, and our food took a little while. We were excited once our food came. My boyfriend and I enjoyed our burgers a lot. It was the first time he ever had peanut sauce, and he loved it. I got the California burger, and it was delicious. The burger was meaty and juicy. I also really enjoyed the fries. They were crispy with lots of potatoes. I do have to say that even though the service was not the best, I still enjoyed the food a lot. I've also come here before for half price sushi and half price appetizers. It is definitely a good deal as sushi can be expensive.

The Hy-Vee Monte Cristo. More like a gigantic club with French toast bread and an apple jam. Mom and I split a half of a half!

Over the last three months during my multiple visits to SPI I've spent a lot of time at the Hy-Vee. The grocery store! But this visit I ventured into the Market Grille three times and never left disappointed. Visit one. Lunch with mom. We shared their version of the Monte Cristo with sweet potato fries. Sweet potato fries could have been crispier, but otherwise, delicious. And for the sandwich. HUGE! We shared half of a half and took the rest home. It was a Tuesday and they have half priced specialty cocktails so I gave the cucumber gin drink a try. It was heavy on the gin, light on the cucumber if you catch my drift! Visit two. New Year's Day, Mike and I entered the grocery store part with all intentions to get a hunk of meat for his new smoker. A mimosa caught his eye and the next thing I know, Bam, we're sitting at the Market Grille bar! We enjoyed chatting it up with the bartender Tami, and a bottle of champagne later, we finally headed back out to grocery shop. Visit three. Sunday Brunch. We meet some friends for my last breakfast before leaving. I thought we had to get the buffet, but you don't have to. I say that because I can't eat a ton in one sitting so there is no way I would ever get my $18 worth out of their buffet. If you enjoy a buffet, this is a good one. All the breakfast food and also all the salad bar, Asian, Italian, etc. that's offerings out in the grocery store too. My two eggs over easy, two slices of bacon, hash browns and one piece of toast was just right. This experience wasn't perfect as Mike didn't get his eggs, I got the wrong kind of toast, and the bill was incorrect, but we worked around all of that and still enjoyed our meal.

Breakfast potatoes are the best I have ever had!

Service is so friendly here I just had a great experience at the one in Altoona, IA Sunday Brunch Buffett = amazing!!! Highly recommend.

Ordered bruchetta... this is not bruchetta

Terrible service, grocery store quality food, food isn't as advertised. As a grocery store hyvee is great. For the price of the meals, I'd rather go through the hot bar in the store for the same food at a cheaper price. To be honest, I prefer county markets hot bar to hyvee. Bruchetta was in fact a caprise salad served with toast made to look pretty, not enough balsamic reduction or basil for taste. The crab mac n cheese was sub par. Cheese tasted like something from a box or can. Not special not worth 13 bucks. Sushi was grocery store qaulity. Wine section was good. Service was horrid. All appetizers and meals came out at the same time. Also everything was served luke warm at best.

And here is the proof

Why do you have exits blocked. That's a fire code violation. And why do you have frozen dog food in the ice cream section that almost looks like the Micky mouse ice cream bars. Looks like your trying to confuse people into getting dog food for their kids

4 of us enjoyed an excellent Friday evening meal! We took part in the 1/2 off Taps and Apps deal from 4-6 PM, the Friday seafood special of shrimp and scallop scampi for $13, and the $20 edamame plus 3 sushi rolls special. The food was delicious and the service was great. One of us also got the very impressive and delicious Mac-n-cheese burger. All in all, I'd definitely recommend stopping in for a casual dinner!

Tempura Shrimp Sushi Roll and Crab Rangoon Flatbeard

I have to say, this place had some pretty great sushi! It was MUCH better than I had at another restaurant in Springfield not too long ago. The Crab Rangoon Flatbread was creative and delicious. It had all the flavors you'd want from crab rangoon with the twist of flatbread added. The shrimp tacos were fresh and light. The Baja fish tacos had a nice kick to them. Overall, this place is a great choice for a great quality, fresh meal!

My son and I went through the buffet at Hy-vee yesterday. I've been through the buffet line a half a dozen times and have always been happy with everything I've ever gotten. They offer a variety of everything from Chinese, pizza, Italian, meatloaf, beef brisket and tons of sides. I think next time I go I'll bypass the buffet price and just buy a dinner because I could have had a satisfying meal without paying $15. The only reason o didn't give this 5 stars is because the person managing the cafeteria area was screaming at all the tvs during sports and it echoed and was actually unnerving. We ended up having to get up and leave.

She even made a point to walk around and check on each table, making sure everything was perfect--that kind of attention really stood out. I ordered the Thai pork bowl, and it was absolutely packed with flavor--perfectly balanced with a little heat, a touch of sweetness, juicy pork, and a satisfying crunch from the coleslaw. The sauces tied everything together beautifully. My wife got the chicken ranch sandwich and couldn't stop raving about it. I took a bite myself and was seriously impressed. The chicken was incredibly juicy and flavorful, the bread was outstanding, and the candied bacon took it over the top--truly next-level. This sandwich was done right. To finish things off, we tried the oatmeal cream pie cookie, and it did not disappoint. It was soft, perfectly baked, and full of rich flavor. I even had to grab a side of that candied bacon to go--it was that good. We'll definitely be back.

Get the bread - you won't need it (the bowl is huge), but they make it and grill it and it is delicious. Get a cookie to have later (I ate mine over the course of 3 days). I recommend the chocolate peanut butter. The service is friendly and efficient. Ambience is okay. It's busy and the seating is a bit uncomfortable and tight, but they did maximize the utility of the space.

For the buffet, you pay first then find a table. OK, just don't chit-chat so much -- take the money and move on to the next party. We paid and found a table -- boy, it is loud in there!! We headed to the buffet. Scrambled eggs were in the first container. OMG, they looked terrible!! Scrambled eggs are not supposed to be brown!! Thankfully, they had an omelet/eggs to order station so I was able to get scrambled eggs that were correctly prepared. The bacon was under-cooked and the sausage was tasteless. Cottage fries were ok. All of the breads and pastries were probably from Sam's. Coffee and juices were included in the price and the orange juice was good. You could order Bloody Marys or Mimosas for more $$$ but we stuck with coffee and juice. For the price, I would not go back. The buffet was kept re-stocked and the staff on the floor were friendly, but it just wasn't what I was hoping for on Mother's Day!

But when I got home and started going through my food, I realized something was off. I noticed what I thought was an extra dessert in a flimsy plastic container, but when I looked closer, it turned out my baked dark meat chicken was missing -- the main part of my order. I called twice. No answer. Straight to voicemail. Voicemail was full. So I drove all the way back, tried to go inside -- doors locked. Got back in the drive-thru line and explained the issue. Then the woman who I assume was the owner or head cook came to the window, and instead of addressing my concern professionally, she hit me with sarcasm and attitude -- as if I was out of line for coming back for food I paid for. She insisted she personally packed the chicken and tried to make it seem like I was the problem. When I mentioned there was a container in the bag that looked like pie, she snapped that they didn't serve sweet potato pie that day. Eventually, she handed me what looked like a pie container and told me to open it. Sure enough, it was the chicken -- but it was so dry and shriveled, no wonder I mistook it for a slice of pie. At that point, I told her flat-out: I'm never coming back. To that woman -- if you're reading this -- your behavior was unprofessional, your customer service was dismissive and hostile, and your food wasn't even worth the trip. Mistakes happen, but instead of owning it, you doubled down with attitude and dry chicken in a dessert container. Word of advice: stop assaulting your chicken. Inject it with something buttery, juicy, and respectful before putting it out in the world. Because nobody wants to eat food that looks and tastes like regret. I will not be returning, and I'll be warning others to stay far away.
