We went with 8 people. 90% of our food was thrown away. The food was cold and veggies were water logged. We went to a fast food resteraunt after we left. One a positive note the dinning area is so nice. read more

Went there today on my first day of employment. Right away I was called to the office cause someone recognized me and went to corporate. They said I wasn't able to work there for whatever reasons. They told me it was a second chance place but I guess that was a lie. I was so happy to work today. Never will go back here ever again! read more

Over the last three months during my multiple visits to SPI I've spent a lot of time at the Hy-Vee. The grocery store! But this visit I ventured into the Market Grille three times and never left disappointed. Visit one. Lunch with mom. We shared their version of the Monte Cristo with sweet potato fries. Sweet potato fries could have been crispier, but otherwise, delicious. And for the sandwich. HUGE! We shared half of a half and took the rest home. It was a Tuesday and they have half priced specialty cocktails so I gave the cucumber gin drink a try. It was heavy on the gin, light on the cucumber if you catch my drift! Visit two. New Year's Day, Mike and I entered the grocery store part with all intentions to get a hunk of meat for his new smoker. A mimosa caught his eye and the next thing I know, Bam, we're sitting at the Market Grille bar! We enjoyed chatting it up with the bartender Tami, and a bottle of champagne later, we finally headed back out to grocery shop. Visit three. Sunday Brunch. We meet some friends for my last breakfast before leaving. I thought we had to get the buffet, but you don't have to. I say that because I can't eat a ton in one sitting so there is no way I would ever get my $18 worth out of their buffet. If you enjoy a buffet, this is a good one. All the breakfast food and also all the salad bar, Asian, Italian, etc. that's offerings out in the grocery store too. My two eggs over easy, two slices of bacon, hash browns and one piece of toast was just right. This experience wasn't perfect as Mike didn't get his eggs, I got the wrong kind of toast, and the bill was incorrect, but we worked around all of that and still enjoyed our meal. read more

I went here on a Friday night and there weren't a lot of people here so we were able to get a table quickly. Our waiter was very nice, but it took him awhile to come check up on us. For example, I asked for some bread and it awhile for it to come, and our food took a little while. We were excited once our food came. My boyfriend and I enjoyed our burgers a lot. It was the first time he ever had peanut sauce, and he loved it. I got the California burger, and it was delicious. The burger was meaty and juicy. I also really enjoyed the fries. They were crispy with lots of potatoes. I do have to say that even though the service was not the best, I still enjoyed the food a lot. I've also come here before for half price sushi and half price appetizers. It is definitely a good deal as sushi can be expensive. read more

Hy-Vee Market Grille - Breakfast potatoes are the best I have ever had! - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Springfield, Illinois

Terrible service, grocery store quality food, food isn't as advertised. As a grocery store hyvee is great. For the price of the meals, I'd rather go through the hot bar in the store for the same food at a cheaper price. To be honest, I prefer county markets hot bar to hyvee. Bruchetta was in fact a caprise salad served with toast made to look pretty, not enough balsamic reduction or basil for taste. The crab mac n cheese was sub par. Cheese tasted like something from a box or can. Not special not worth 13 bucks. Sushi was grocery store qaulity. Wine section was good. Service was horrid. All appetizers and meals came out at the same time. Also everything was served luke warm at best. read more

4 of us enjoyed an excellent Friday evening meal! We took part in the 1/2 off Taps and Apps deal from 4-6 PM, the Friday seafood special of shrimp and scallop scampi for $13, and the $20 edamame plus 3 sushi rolls special. The food was delicious and the service was great. One of us also got the very impressive and delicious Mac-n-cheese burger. All in all, I'd definitely recommend stopping in for a casual dinner! read more

We have only tried this place twice and at slow times - about 3pm on Wednesday - half price apps sushi and bottles of wine. With that said, we have had good experiences both times. I can see that at prime time you probably wait longer than some see as acceptable but we are never in a hurry...trying to kill a couple hours and take our time. Love the menu...something for everyone. Cali burger said guac but came with avacado slices instead...no worries. Asian beef came with egg drop soup and crab rangoon...both delish even though I ordered hot and sour soup...no big deal. Sushi is fresh but not top quality...keep it simple and at half price order extra to make sure you fill up. We finished everything...dinner for 4 with 2 bottles of wine 4 coctails 2 apps 4 dinners was $100...perfect. So if you expect perfection, are in a hurry and are price sensitive down to the last dollar this probably isnt your place. Dont understand people who knitpick at everything and ruin a meal for everyone around them in the process...relax, its just another meal. Now if you are on death row and its your last meal I'd probably try something else. read more

I have to say, this place had some pretty great sushi! It was MUCH better than I had at another restaurant in Springfield not too long ago. The Crab Rangoon Flatbread was creative and delicious. It had all the flavors you'd want from crab rangoon with the twist of flatbread added. The shrimp tacos were fresh and light. The Baja fish tacos had a nice kick to them. Overall, this place is a great choice for a great quality, fresh meal! read more

I've been to the grill now a few times, and service tends to be a little slow, but the food has always been amazing. The sushi is pretty great for a supermarket. Their alcohol and wine selection is prime. NOTE - the brunch buffet is $17.99 a person - which I believe is a raise in price because I was told it was $14 and was surprised at the ticket when it ultimately came. Which was disappointing. read more

I'm a super punctual person. So when your brunch starts at 09:00 am, you should be rock and rolling at 09:00. Not 09:10. But that's just me. It should be all hands on deck. Not servers standing around BSing. Food temperature was not hot, just luke warm. Pretty good selection of dishes for a brunch. read more

My 1st "out to eat" Thanksgiving, as I was in IL to visit. Came to the buffet with my oldest son. The place was packed but we were seated quickly. The staff was incredibly friendly and professional. The selection of food was amazing. Everything was hot and delicious. I have strict dietary needs, and Becky, the manager, was so very accommodating. I would recommend this place to anyone. read more

My friend had Buffalo shrimp and according to him the dish was terrible. I ordered nachos for myself and the dish was awful as well. First things first the food came after 20 mins we ordered. My son and I went through the buffet at Hy-vee yesterday. I've been through the buffet line a half a dozen times and have always been happy with everything I've ever gotten. They offer a variety of everything from Chinese, pizza, Italian, meatloaf, beef brisket and tons of sides. I think next time I go I'll bypass the buffet price and just buy a dinner because I could have had a satisfying meal without paying $15. The only reason o didn't give this 5 stars is because the person managing the cafeteria area was screaming at all the tvs during sports and it echoed and was actually unnerving. We ended up having to get up and leave. read more

Hy-Vee Market Grille - Sausage pizza, sesame chicken and crab Rangoon. - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Springfield, Illinois

The ambiance of Hy-Vee Market Grille is outstanding. It feels nothing like being in a section of a grocery store, but rather feels like being in a very chic, stand alone restaurant. Although open for only a week, we have dined in four times and sat at the bar for appetizers once. For a new restaurant, the wait staff is attentive and does not seem overwhelmed. They are quite personable, as is the manager. As for the food, everything has been excellent. From the hickory smoked ribs, burnt ends, and pulled pork to the bone-in pork chop with roasted garlic and onion demi to the southwestern grilled chicken salad, everything has been top notch. The must have appetizer is the jalapeño, maple, bacon wontons, which are a perfect mix of spicy and sweet. Wide selection of beers on tap and in bottles along with a great wine and drink list. read more

It's hard to find something this tasty and affordable in Springfield but the Hyvee restaurant is surely a great place to start. I have eaten here now 3 times and each time the food has been delicious, the prices are fare and the atmosphere is more than acceptable for a grocery store. On one occasion the wait staff seemed to all but forget my table but eventually the manager came to apologize and assumed the duties of our table. Tips: come on deal days, half priced wine and Sushi is a great date idea. The Mac and cheese burger is a personal favorite of mine. Avoid the fettechuni Alfredo, it's boring bland and a little watery. I will come back and you should to. read more

We have eaten at the new Hy-Vee Market Grille and been very pleased both times. The first time, we went for Sunday Brunch and had the buffet. The eggs on the buffet were pretty firm, but they have an omelet bar, so got the chef to soft scramble a few for me and they were perfect. The prime rib was delicious and not over cooked. Service was attentive, but not hovering. My mimosa was great. The second time we went was for a late supper. Appetizers were on special for half price so I had the chicken quesadillas for my meal and it was plenty of food....and only $3.75! My husband had the burger and fries and it was cooked exactly right. We will certainly be back...and I LOVE the grocery store!! read more

I've been there a few times and was pleasantly surprised. For being connected to the shopping area I was expecting average, it was not. Behind the glass doors is an upscale restaurant. 2 words: FRESH SUSHI! You can even watch them make it, spider rolls were amazing!! They have a big menu with tons of appetizers. Go with a group, order a bottle of wine (if you don't drink it all they'll cork it for you to take!) and appetizers - perfect girls night. All the food was fresh, you can tell nothing was sitting out long. One order in our group wasn't what was expected and they were fast to review the menu with her to find something for her. Menu is very diverse, something for everyone. It has a feel of upscale dining but many people wear jeans. read more

We love this place! Relaxed atmosphere , great food and excellent service! Menu offers both light and hearty options. We hang out on the restaurant side ~ haven't experienced the bar. It's my new favorite place to meet a friend for lunch on the south side of town. Love the sushi options, the strawberry pecan salad, and the burger choices. Yes, it's in a grocery store, and a bit loud, but love it anyway! read more

I really want to like you Hyvee, but we have been disappointed the handful of times we have eaten here. In fact, I would give a rating of zero stars if I had the option. After waiting 90-minutes to eat tonight, the service was terrible and the food was horrible. For example: shrimp tacos were served cold, the cabbage on the tacos was not fresh, and it was presented very sloppy... the plate looked dirty. My husband ordered the scallops... please don't get me started. Very disappointing. We will not be returning. read more

It was ok. Smaller Sunday menu. Asked for bacon instead of ham for my skillet. Waitress said no problem. But when it came it had ham so must have been a problem in kitchen. Husband couldn't eat his biscuits n gravy as way too spicy. The Hy-vee in Bloomington IL has much better breakfast. Also waitress never asked how everything was. And manager never took time to check with customers. read more

I've waited a while to do this review because as much as I want to like this place, its staff is an absolute trainwreck. My husband and I hired HyVee to do a Taco and Pizza Bar at our wedding on April 23, 2016. We were so happy with the food and with how professional the staff was! My guests couldn't stop talking about how good the food was and how nice it was to eat something they really liked! HyVee's Catering Manager, Jennifer, was the sweetest person! At one time I thought this place was decent. Now they have failed me twice. The first time took me and my wife over an hour to get our sandwiches. Food was mediocre at best and you have to beg for service. read more

It's almost like a casino buffet without the craps table and slot machines. I was in Springfield in early September of this year and thought I would try the Grand Buffet. This large buffet includes unlimited trips to the deli, salad bar, Italian bar and Asian bar and is priced accordingly at $15.99. Unfortunately; the price does not include a beverage. It does; however, include a slice of Cheesecake Factory cheesecake for dessert. Sadly, the buffet no longer carries Cajun salmon or any kind of salmon for that matter. The buffet does feature tender, delicious smoked brisket. The fresh berries were ripe, juicy, and plentiful. The pizza was hot and cheesy. The General Tso chicken was okay. Not enough spice. The meatloaf was a little dry. The mac and cheese and mashed potatoes were outstanding. All in all a pretty good meal. Now I'm going to win me some money. Wait! Wrong venue. This is a supermarket. I'm too full to go grocery shopping. So, maybe I'm the winner this time. read more
