Huh. I'm so confused by these reviews. I thought this would be something unique, something special. When I arrived, there was only one thing that I was able to eat due to an allergy to several dark veggies. So, I got a turkey sandwich on a croissant. Couldn't get soup or salad on the side as they both had spinach which I can't have. The sandwich was about 4 bites and something a 5 year old would make. Nothing unique or interesting about it. Turkey, cheese, mustard, croissant. $10. The person I was with got a quiche which she said was fine and a "mixed greens" salad which was actually 2 pieces of green leaf lettuce. Literally nothing else and not even cut up! They only had vinaigrette dressing which she really doesn't like. I don't know people. What are we missing here?? read more

Small space, but fast paced little bakery. There is a bigger room in the back if you're coming and eating. Very nice staff with amazing smells and amazing desserts. I'll admit I'm a little picky and really like just traditional chicken salad. This chicken salad was pretty fancy. I didn't hate it but I didn't love it, had a pickle flavor. It was just okay for me. The smore cheesecake was really good and so was the Bavarian hot chocolate. Too pricey for me to return for a quick lunch. Incredibly delicious? More like incredibly mid. Their breakfast croissant is delicious, reasonably priced, but only available before 10 or 11 AM. Their lemon raspberry and red velvet cakes are great! However, their quiche was stale and cold. My partner and I took one bite, and it was one bite too much. Also, their tiramisu was depressing. Grilled cheese was also bland. Eating there is awkward. I applaud some peaceful, quiet ambiance but when it echos and I can hear other people's conversation, chewing, and silverware clanking, you'll be better off taking it to go. Either there needs to be more people so the chatter becomes white noise. Or some sort of jazz or piano should play to offset the deafening silence. read more

We were recommended this spot from another stop on our trip. The name says it all, how could we say no? This space has a quaint cafe feel, and in nicer weather the garden would be the perfect place to enjoy your goodies. We ordered several goodies from the counter along with herbal tea. There were several varieties of macarons, brownies, cake slices, and pastries to choose from. The team was helpful with suggestions and suggestions explaining the items available. Cute and nice spot for bakery and breakfast! The restaurant is located near downtown, in an ancient house with a lovely, lively garden. Inside it is also deliberately decorated, especially like their flower bath tub in the restroom! I tried their yogurt and spinach & mushroom quiche, as well as multigrain and wheat walnut raisin bread. Food was quite delicious and had a generous portion. The yogurt was not sweet so I guess it does not contain much added sugar and is healthy. The egg in the quiche was fluffy and flavorful; it also came with two warm, freshly baked bread. I tried the bread after returning to Champaign. I enjoyed the nutty, slightly bitter taste of the multigrain very much. How can you not love a flaky, crispy, buttery croissant? And then they went and put raspberry filling inside of it, that was new to me! Continuing our support of local restaurants tour of SPI, mom had remembered about this spot being along the way of our drive into downtown each morning. It's located in a big old house, with a side door entrance. They had colorful tables and chairs around an outside courtyard that adds a lot of charm when walking in. Once you pull open the door you continue straight to the display case and register to order. We got the raspberry croissant for me, mom got a regular croissant that she used to make a sandwich with later and we also got a slice of their caramel apple spice cake. As highlighted on their website their traditional french croissants are homemade from start to finish and made with real butter via a process that takes four days. You can taste the time and love they put into making them for sure! For me the slice of apple spice cake needed turned up a notch in every way. More apples. More spice. More caramel. The white icing was not what I was expecting either. It was not very sweet and I thought a cream cheese icing would go better with apples and spice. (Just my opinion!) Lots of good things to choose from, and it's about as fresh as you can get around here for whatever. A lot of healthy choices. This also pops up at the Springfield Farmers Market, so you know they're all about using the local stuff. After getting up, we headed here. It was no time to waste as we wanted to get in and out before it got busy, but it wasn't that busy at all really. This seems like the kind of place all the downtown workers would have brunch at or something. Guess we caught it on a good day. There's inside tables or a patio. It doesn't have alcohol, but there's Blackberry Lemonade. It's about $2 and hit the spot. We also got the Avocado Toast. It's about $6 for a couple slices with a crap ton on it. There was everything bagel seasoning, extra virgin olive oil, and Seasonello sea salt. Maybe a bit too salty of course. This was still pretty good and filling. Good place for local food and bakery. My friend and I both had the grilled cheese and tomato basil soup from the day's menu. The soup was the best homemade tomato soup I've ever had. They won me over with their scones. Incredibly Delicious, is a perfect name for this delightful bakery. They were the first stop I made while visiting the, Farmers Market for my first time. When I visit any bakery, I am a sucker for scones and they had savory ones, which are my true favorite. I cannot remember the name of the one I bought, but I like spice and I do remember it had, pepper in the name. It was an easy purchase to slip inside my backpack. If I had more room and were not in town for business, I would have grabbed a loaf or two of their breads. They looked so amazingly delicious. I enjoyed my scone the next morning for breakfast and it made me want more. So, I may be taking the train to Springfield again and just do some shopping at ID. After reading reviews, I was truly excited to try this place. I got the chicken salad sandwich, broccoli soup, drip coffee and Tiramisu. Sandwich was good but nothing exceptional. Soup was just average and coffee was terrible!! The 2 starts is because the tiramisu was very creamy and not supper sweet! Just perfect. Garden and ambiance is unbeatable!! This is the place to stop when/around Springfield Illinois to pick up lemon tarts. I have been getting lemon tarts from this place for more than 15 years even though I actually live in Chicago. "They're magically delicious!" That Lucky Charms tagline is stuck in my head when I think of my experience here; so I share that gift with you. Fun fact, those marshmallows are called marbits, which is short for marshmallow bit. There, I've done my public service for the day!! I don't think the French would approve. Okay, moving along-I did go to this business. My sister and I went towards the end of the business day and so I had to quickly take in the multitude of sweet offerings. The main attraction seems to be walking into this smaller area off the kitchen where the pastry case lives. It is a sight to behold, as it's filled with luxurious pâtisserie. As I gaze upon this sight, I can't help but notice some reading material on the wall that offers context to the whole business that is, incredibly delicious. I mostly skimmed it as I needed to pay attention to the conversation that was happening at the pastry case that went like this, "What is that one? No, the one second from the right. Yes, the chocolate one. What is that? What is the one of the bottom, with the icing? What kind of scone is that?" So I ask, mon ami, "Where are the pastry tags to identify the item?" It was gorgeous spread but not a sign to be found! What the?? Meanwhile, I'm noticing the gentleman behind the counter looks an awful lot like the gentleman in the article about the business (remember I was skimming). I ask if he's the owner, turns out it's a nephew. Isn't that parfait (I bet you didn't know that parfait translated is: perfect). Yet another benefit to my reviews). We quickly dined indoors, which is a beautifully converted older home. I'm certain it has a history, not sure what it is though! There's outdoor seating as well, amongst the lush vegetation and swings. Seriously, it's a stunning amount of landscaping and I did say they have swings. I'm told they serve an amazing brunch as well, just in case you weren't convinced to go. Then you ask, "What's up with the 4 stars if it's so magically...er...incredibly delicious?" I'd love some pastry signs to identify the pastries and thank you for the heads up that you were closing but I didn't need to be told three times by three different people. Omg the QUICHE is amazing one of the best quiche I've had. It taste so homemade and fresh delicious. And the garden they have to sit at is super cute and the whole atmosphere is is calming. The atmosphere is cute, but I feel it's overpriced for what you get!! I got an asparagus salad and it fit in a small mini side salad box after not eating it at lunch! (I didn't feel good, so I just took it to go) If I'm paying $15 for a salad it should take up a whole regular to go sized container. There was absolutely nothing special about this salad! It had a spinach mix, a few pieces of asparagus and some bacon! The dressing was like oil! On top of that you don't even have a server and you order cafeteria style! This will be my last visit here!
