Service was great, and the guy at the counter was polite and very nice. The rating is low because the cupcakes just did not taste good. We ordered a red velvet and a vanilla cupcake. The vanilla cupcake had grainy frosting where the sugar had not been properly creamed into the butter or fat and it was too sweet. It actually made me cough from how the sugar hit the back of my throat. The cake was very light, but nothing tasted like vanilla. It tasted like sugar and air. There was also entirely too much frosting for the density and size of the cupcake, and I say that as a person who usually loves frosting. The vanilla cupcake was both soft /falling apart and slightly overcooked at the same time. The red velvet was more balanced in flavor. However, it had the same sugary buttercream as the vanilla instead of the traditional cream cheese that one would expect with a red velvet cake and that frosting made it just too sugary to eat. The texture of the red velvet cupcake was better than the vanilla, though a bit too dry. I'm not sure what the people who gave this high reviews eight or what their exposure to food is, but this definitely did not do it for us. read more

Jody, the owner is not good at customer service. Was scooping ice cream right at the front & did not even acknowledge us when we walked in to pick up the cupcakes. Had an ugly snarl on his face. Nothing I have gotten from here has been bad, and the cupcakes always look perfect! The new owner is kind and took the time to have a ten minute conversation with my boyfriend and I. I recommend checking this place out, but we both agreed the taste isn't anything crazy delicious and the price is too much for us to frequent. My granddaughters birthday was my motivator to go in. This was our first trip. We got seven large gourmet cupcakes for the price of a 1/2 sheet cake. Everyone seemed to enjoy their individual cupcake. My granddaughter was especially excited about the Cookie Monster cupcake. The butter cream on the carrot cake was to die for. Smallcakes has the best cupcakes. Nice, moist, and flavorful. Presentation means a lot to me and theirs have me drooling every time! I'm like a kid in a candy store. There is always a large selection to choose from. They even sale ice cream (which it delicious), water and soda. If I'm not mistaken they sell gluten free cupcakes. Also doggie treaMy only wish is that they sold sugar-free cupcakes. The decor is a fun pink with about6 or 7 adult tables and 1 kid table with 3-4 chairs. One television playing good music. Carrot cake is my absolute favorite but unfortunately I have a walnut allergy so I usually can't find carrot cake I can eat in the "wild". I can't put words to how excited I was when I was informed the carrot cake cupcakes are walnut free. It did not disappoint! They don't have a huge variety of flavors but they have several signature cupcakes that seem to be a hit. I ordered for adults who I treated the carrot cake and red velvet which are absolutely moist and decorative very fresh and the frosting is decadent! They have a cupcake called "wedding cake" the simple version of white cake and vanilla frosting with an elegant edge. The most kid alluring cupcake in my opinion was the "Cookie Monster" which was blue with a chocolate chip cookie piece that was irresistible to the eye of a child. My daughter enjoyed the strawberry chocolate cake and we come here about twice a month. Walked in and the first thing I noticed was how clean and well decorated it was! And the place smells AMAZING. The cupcakes were set up in a nice display and it was honestly so helpful when picking out a flavor. I got the Strawberries and Cream cupcake with red velvet ice cream, and my niece got the Wedding Cake cupcake with red velvet ice cream. They were put in a cup with the ice cream, layered in a parfait style (cupcake cut in half with the bottom layer at the bottom of the cup, ice cream in the middle, and top of the cupcake with the icing on top). I'm not a fan of cupcakes that are loaded with tons of crazy toppings or stuffed with candy or other foods, so I appreciated that these are just simple cupcakes with simple flavors. They offered a pretty wide variety of different flavors and nice selection of staple flavors like birthday cake, wedding cake, vanilla, chocolate, red velvet, etc. I ordered the hostess knock-off cupcake. It was amazing. Personally it is way too sweet and too large to finish in one sitting, but that just means it lasts longer. The restaurant was clean and staff is friendly. They do run out. Our mistake was while we were deciding on which one cupcake to order, we let someone go ahead of us who ordered two dozen and unabashedly wiped the place out. So beware, they usually don't have more in the back. What's out is what they have.
