Ever since my mom moved out to the lake 20 plus years ago we have been shopping at this Meijer location since it opened. You can pretty much buy anything from the Meijer! From apples to Brita pitchers to shoes to beer and liquor!! You can find it all here. They've improved the bakery over the years and they do have a nice specialty dips and cheese section. We recently tried the Fredrik's Meijer brand frozen pizzas and they were awesome! The crust was so crispy and delicious as were the toppings. One of the things that has changed over the years is the number of employees that work the lanes. Hopefully you love to self check out these days because that's pretty much what you're going to find. read more

If you go to this store do not ever complain about anything. If you do the manager will call people out of the back to beach you up and throw you out of the store. This happened to me and I was 65 years old and the manager threatened to have me beaten up. I would not recommend this store for anything other than closure. read more

The deli at Meijers has gone down hill. I asked to speak to a manager and was told they weren't working that day. I went to 'Customer Service' and asked for a store manager and I was told they also were not in. So my complaint is to let everyone understand a problem at this deli recently (5/2025) at the Springfield IL store. Most of the employees are responsive and get the order correct. The ones that work for the customer are appreciated. Today I had stood at the counter for over 8 minutes watching a young man Slowly.....package whole chickens. I asked if the person that helps in the deli was available or on lunch and he said I am it and will help you when I complete packaging these chickens. Once he got them all packaged (very slowly) he then pulled out a cardboard card and started writing on each individual card for each chicken he was packaging. I again asked if he had any help. Answer, 'no'. Minimum wage in Springfield IL is $15.00 hr. After my freezer and refrigerated items melted in my cart I (the customer) lost my patience with this customer service. #1. If a manager needs an employee to complete one job before helping a customer, GET SOMEONE TO HELP and don't leave just 1 slow employee to handle several waiting customers. #2. The wages have increased but the speed, respect and enthusiasm of these young adults is unacceptable to be working in customer service. #3. There should always be a store manager or assistant store manager available. #4. Leave complaint cards out for customers to fill out. I'd be curious if they would even be documented and corrections to poor management updated. I went to another store and had excellent customer service. I was actually thanked for my business - as it should be. #5. Customers are what keeps you in business. read more

This store is just so big it was hard for me to see it all as a first time visitor. I actually had to skip a number of aisles so I didn't run out of energy as my endurance isn't what it used to be. Hopefully the next time I'm in town I can get there again and go up and down every aisle. read more

I do not recommend Shipt or Instacart as they have terrible shoppers who ask for notes but do not follow them. Had to get the stuff I didn't get with Schnucks earlier today. The window was from 3 to 5 but these shoppers wait until the last minute to shop but when the instructions say leave food inside second door inside, they instead leave the hot items on the cold porch outside. Huh? Who raised you?!? So I ordered some deviled egg potato salad to go with my roasted chicken and they brought me southern potato with egg, and the latter of relish and onion which I'm allergic to so out went the potato salad to the possums and the rotisserie chicken was the slimiest and greasy ass chicken I ever had in my life but it was huge just no flavoring. Who taught them how to cook cuz it is nasty but the possums will enjoy a lot of it and my dog got the rest. I did save some for me after I used a whole roll of paper towels to get the slime and grease off the warm chicken. Needless to say I dropped instacart awhile back but they still try and trick you into using their services again and I just cancelled Shipt too cuz they only have a few stores but crap shoppers. I'm going to start using other stores in the summer on my own and then for the Winter I may have to go back to Walmart cuz they was the best by far as far as curbside service. As long as you don't go inside you fine cuz their workers are mean and provide shitty service to the ones keeping their livelihood in a round about way but they sure don't have much common sense to know how to treat their customers with respect. read more

Meijer is always a nice treat. At least the people there aren't in their pajamas or toothless. Sorry, couldn't help it. Need more cashiers, but the cookies are awesome and so much of the store is nice, clean and orderly. read more

Often more clerks at check-out stations are urgently needed. Self-check-out never works smoothly for me without a hitch. I end up needing to call for a clerk to help me. This is frustrating and humiliating. I cannot be loyal to Meijer if self-check is required of me. read more

I had previously been to Meijer in Indiana so I knew what to expect. It's a full grocery store, health & beauty, clothing, décor, etc. all under one roof. I mostly shopped the non perishables because I was about an hour and forty five minutes away from home and didn't want anything to spoil on the way. Score of the day was a box of Drake's Cakes Ring Dings - IYKYK. I picked up a few other things that are not available in Missouri. Are they really not available or had I just never seen them? Who knows! All in all this is a clean and nice store and worthy stop if you are in town or just passing through. read more

I've always gotten great deli meats before. This visit I asked for rare roast beef sliced for sandwiches. I was horrified when I opened the package. The grisly meat was gray and thick sliced. What a disappointment. This gut should have realized that it was not acceptable. Next time I will ask to see specifically what I am buying. read more

I've shopped at Meijer since I grew up in Kalamazoo, MI, and I was thrilled when this store came to town. I need help now so usually have Instacart shop/deliver my groceries (they have always done a great job for me) but I miss going in and finding Michigan products, even cider and donuts which is an autumn thing. Springfield Illinois Meijer is the worst managed store I've been to. The management is horrible & is never around when asked. Constantly overharged. A cashier took coupons & never deducted them. I was never contacted by manager after I was told he would. Never got a refund or replacement. Shelf prices don't match what items ring up. Alot of expire items throughout the store. read more

The closest Meijer to me is this store 100 miles away from home. I was in town for my grandkids so. We and stopped in with my daughter. Store was clean and organized and had some different offerings than my usual options. We had a cart full and spent close to $400. I had selected a Mr Coffee but did not notice that the box had been open indicating it was a return. When I got hone the next day I opened the box to find a filthy, used coffee pot that was not the same as in the box and parts including the carafe were missing. I called and was transferred to the National customer service hotline who were amazing. Apologetic. Took my name and number and sent the info to local store and transferred me to customer service manager who was also apologetic and asked if manager could call me (never happened). Family was headed to Springfield and went in and exchanged for a new unopened coffee pot. The exchange was done professionally. Every one we talked to and dealt with were great. read more

DO NOT USE THE MEIJER HOME DELIVERY SERVICE SHIPT. THEY ARE HORRIBLE AND INCOMPETENT. This past Tuesday I decided to try the HOME DELIVERY SERVICE that Meijer has. It was my FIRST TIME and will definitely BE MY LAST TIME. I specifically wanted to use the home delivery service so I could have 6 cases of bottled water delivered directly to my front door so I didn't have to lift or carry any of it. Bottled water is extremely heavy and I am older now. Meijer showed that they had the bottled water I wanted in stock. So I ordered that along with 6 other small grocery items. Since this was my first time using this service I didn't know exactly how it worked. My "shopper" sent me a text letting me know she was going to begin my shopping. Then she would deliver my order to my home. 30 minutes later I am at my computer and I get an email that my order has been delivered to my door. I go to my front door and half my order was just dumped on my front porch and THERE ARE NO CASES OF BOTTLED WATER. So I text my "shopper" asking her where my 6 cases of bottled water are and she tells me they were not in stock and that I did not make a note about accepting substitutions. I also asked her why she did not ring my doorbell to let me know she was delivering my groceries. She said, "You didn't ask me to ring your doorbell upon delivery." I thought that was just common sense. I called Meijer's management to report my bad experience and they told me they have nothing to do with their delivery service. They didn't even offer me a number to reach Shipt. I later found out that the SHOPPER is supposed to contact you if there are ANY OUT OF STOCK ISSUES. The shopper is also supposed to notify you via text when they arrive at your front door. My shopper was LAZY, INCOMPETENT, and had a BAD ATTITUDE. So that is why I received HORRIBLE SERVICE. Great selection of meats, fresh food and alcohol. Also variety of pet supplies and foods including refrigerated wet foods.

Why are the grocery shelves so empty? Do they not have enough workers to stock shelves or do they have supply chain issues. Getting a little tiresome when they advertise sales where you have to buy 10/get 11 or this week when it is buy 5/ save $5. After I got home and looked at my receipt I discovered I did not get the $5 off the items I purchased under that sale. I double checked to be sure I purchased 5 qualifying items and I had. If the problem is worker shortage, there was a homeless guy by the stoplight panhandling for money; go offer him a job! read more

Meijer is a great alternative to Walmart when you have to pickup things that a traditional grocery store does not have. A huge plus is that it is less ratchet than ole Wally World. So, you don't have to worry as much about being run over in the parking lot or in a isle while you are on the property. read more

Stopped in quickly to pick up a few items, to include some Michigan beer. I was very disappointed to go to the Michigan beer section and find absolutely nothing produced in Michigan. Otherwise the store is OK, not as much variety as others I have been to. read more

Went there today, filled our cart with many things we have been waiting to buy. After waiting in line for about 10 min we are informed that we need to change lines because " this is taking a while". Every line was full so I went to the self check out... 1st Item " you can not scan this here please see associate" Looked around and not an associate in sight. This was the 1st time we had been out, and the stress of long lines and slow service was way to much. Also they do not enforce the mask policy. read more

Frequently outdated produce. I had to sort through maybe 20 fruit and veggie trays to find one still current. There are always long lines waiting for the couple of checkout lanes open. Prices are often higher than alternative stores. read more

Their grocery pick up is a joke. They wait till the last minute to cancel your order. I lost out on $90 dollars worth of savings because they canceled my order. If you don't have enough people to fill orders, quit taking the orders online. I would rather shop Meijer than Hyvee, but Hyvee's grocery pick up is 1000 times better. When you try to talk to someone at Meijer they act totally ignorant and try to pass you off. I've been back and forth with both the people in the store and corporate. I love me some Meijer. I don't live near one, so i love visiting for work and getting to shop at this one! It's huge, produce is amazing, sushi is super tasty, salad are ok, just over oiled. Bottle beer selection is great Breakfast bar selection is great I just love this place. There is everything! I only wish i could shop for more and different things, but i can't only use some much when i'm visiting. Huge parking lot! read more

so THIS is why people live in the suburbs. One store where you can buy food for yourself, food for your plants, hell you can buy new plants, a new tractor, and a new windwill. Honestly, we only saw quadrants 1-19. We didn't get to see the back half of the store, the monorail never came. We have shopped here since it opened over a decade ago. For the past three-weeks, the checkout lines on Sunday morning have been ridiculously long with only two checkout lines open, when we complained, the cashier told us they were trying to "influence" customers to use the self checkout lanes. The only thing you achieved is to "influence" us to shop at another store chain. Never shop there again. read more

The customer service is horrible. I bought a bottle of whisky in a box and found out they forgot to unlock the electronic lock on the bottle because the bottle WAS INSIDE OF THE BOX. So I went back to the store and asked them to unlocked it. I show my SHOPPING RECEIPT AND MY ID. However, the old staff to stands in front of door started to sarcasm me why that I didn't check with them when the security door beep. They waste my time because of their careless and turned back to accuse me! They need to change their attitude and be manner since working in a service industry. read more

Great produce section. Fairly priced. Huge selection of ethnic foods. One of the few places that carries my favorite english tea. I only have ever bought groceries at a Meijer, I still find it weird that it is such a big grocery store but the clothing is right next to everything as well. read more

BEST donuts in Springfield! Better than the local donut shops so if you need a donut fix on a Sat or Sun get to Meijer early or there won't be many to choose from. Also best selection of organic baby food in the area, they carry Happy Tot, Happy Baby, Sprout and other brands. They also have organic quinoa snacks for babies and organic quinoa oatmeal. Good selection of organic fruit too. Wild caught seafood in the frozen food section next to the fresh seafood. The Orca Bay brand is much better than the Meijer brand of frozen seafood. read more

I am totally disgusted with this store. The shelves are constantly empty and not just the sale merchandise. I went there at 4 different times and the every time there were no oyster crackers anywhere in the store. Not a big ticket item but really, was there a shortage of oyster crackers? No one seemed to know. Today, one of the busiest shopping days of the year, the Saturday before thanksgiving, EVERY aisle has someone in it stocking the shelves. This was from the dairy section to the produce aisles. And empty stocking sitting in the aisles, too. This store is open 24 hours, why can't the stocking be done overnight? Doesn't matter what day of the week or time of day, some one is always clogging up the aisles stocking. And it's not the vendors that have to stock their own merchandise. It's Meijer's employees. Guess they don't pay enough to have people work overnight. read more

Not a review just a funny story My friend came here after stepping in a puddle outside. She went to the bathroom to clean off her shoe in a couple minutes later a little girl, about eight, randomly stole the shoe and ran away. My friend ran after her. Within a couple minutes there is no sign of the girl. My friend went to her mom and explain the situation. They looked for the girl in the shoe but they cannot find either of them. They alerted the workers of the situation they explain to the family that there was no protocol for this situation. Every worker was on a lookout for the the shoe or the girl, and it was a very long time before anything was found. Finally that she was found on a random shelf by the aquariums. I have no clue what the motivation of this girl was but definitely a funny story to share! Again not a review but Meyer workers were able to handle the situation very well!!! read more

Drove all the way from Decatur to Springfield because I saw on the computer that Meijer has Fragrance wax cubes. When I got there, I saw the shelves were at least half empty. WalMart also carries fragrance wax cubes, I have never seen their shelves even remotely empty. So I went there. read more

Update* Corporate called me a week later and apologized and offered to honor the sales price when more stock was available. 12/16 they sent me the same blu-ray player and as a token of good will sent it to my home for free rather than in store pickup (3 miles away). So all in all, just short of a month to get my blu-ray player. While I appreciate them working with me, Meijer.com has lost my business. I still love the store though! read more
