Before Christmas, we were stopped at self check out when buying a bottle of wine to check our ID, which is funny because we are in our 70s. I did not have my purse with me so we were not allowed to buy the wine. The manager told us it was a new policy that everyone, no matter how old they looked, had to be carded, which is ridiculous. WE tried to be understanding so I just left the store to go sit in the car. Husband then tried to buy it because he had his ID but she refused to let him. She said how would she know he wouldn'tidn't go out and give it or sell it to someone underage? To make a long story short, from that day forward, we have never ever seen any clerk check anyone's ID. And if that were the case, why would they let an adult who had their child with them buy any liquor since the child is obviously underage. This was really a joke. She was just a tad too zealous in making employee of the month or something. Wonder how much she caused liquor sales to drop that day? read more

Best place to eat a good lunch for cheap. You get two pieces of pizza and a large soda for $2.50. The pizza is amazing. They also have a sushi deli now in the back by the alcohol section with a sushi chef who is making sushi rolls. The sushi rolls are decently priced too and there's a decent variety. read more

Sam's is great unless you have to deal with the customer service desk. I like their products and prices are decent. I am the office manager and set up all the memberships for our employees. I also do all the ordering for the office. Some of their policies in that department are squirrely. They are very hard to deal with. If you just order online or stop in the store it's fine. read more

Please get more help and a better way to check out at Sams pharmacy. Only 2 staff members working this afternoon. I was 4th in line with 1 person at the counter, after 15 min, that same person was still standing at the counter and I walked. Also, I don't understand why we check in at one register and then move down to a 2nd register to pay and check out, that takes more time for the staff member who is working the counter to check someone out. This isn't the only time I've had to wait in a long line to pick up a RX. read more

If you like waiting in line for a half hour to check out you will like shopping her. Some brainiac decided to go down to five people checkout lines nd the rest self checkout. The only problem four of their self checkouts were broke. The were at least 8 people in line to check out in each lane. You get cheap so you donr have to pay people and service suffers big time. read more

Love our local Sams Club! Lots of deals and cant beat free samples. The scan & go app for faster checkout is a must. Usually has cheapest gas in town too which is a plus. read more

I often use Costco over Sam's Club while in the Chicago area. Since I've found this Springfield Sam's we've stopped a couple times a month while on our travels up and down I55 past this area. This is a good sized location and is even bigger than a couple in the Chicago area. But the thing that sets this location apart from others is the people. Friendly cashiers, a bakery staff that is engaging and visible, and a good number of employees throughout the store offering assistance lifting things or finding the location of something. Prices including the pizza/hot dog cafe at the front of the store are lower than most other local stores and are about the same as Sam's Clubs in the Chicago and St. Louis areas. read more

This review is not based on the quality of the Sam's club location but more of their staff education. I'm running out on a lunch break to grab party items, forks, plates cups, maybe some snack trays...you're not allowed to buy anything before 10am if you don't have the "plus" membership. I have a limited time to grab this stuff I can't wait til 10am. This inflexibility lost business today, looks like I will buy these things somewhere else. Quality of merchandise is good, I find the taste and quality of their bakery products to be comparable to some of the better bakeries. I've come across some fabulous finds while browsing . I would recommend Sam's Club. read more

I'm disappointed with how I've been treated by the hearing aid department at Sam's Club. Four years ago I bought a pair of expensive heating aids there. The audiologist said if I purchased the pair they would provide free batteries as long as I owned them. He also said when it came time to purchase a new pair, they would apply the full purchase price of the old pair toward a trade. Things were great for several years and then the person I purchased them from left. The new hearing aid specialist said her predecessor made those promises to many customers but he shouldn't have. She said she would not honor the trade-in promise and last week she said they would no longer honor the promise of free batteries for as long as I owned my hearing aids. An honest company keeps its commitments. They have not. And there is no disagreement that such promises were made. After they would not honor the trade-in promise, I purchased new hearing aids elsewhere. When I inquired if I donated my old hearing aids to someone in need from my church, whether they would fit them for him, I was told they would but they would charge the needy fellow $650 for the service. Lucid Hearing, which is the vendor in Sam's is not someone I would do business with. read more

I don't understand why more people don't use yelp in the Springfield, IL area. I've been to this Sam's Club a few times now. I always purchase their 3 gallon bottled water for my cooler at home. The price is great and they are always in stock. I find that this Sam's Club has got a great selection of products and wonderful customer service from the employees. I've also ordered furniture on-line which is affordable and looks beautiful. When my parents and I go shopping here we always stop and get a hot dog and drink before heading home. It's a nice tradition and their Nathan hot dogs are always delicious. read more

Sam's is a warehouse store, 'nuff said there. But they also have a gas station and the great thing about that is they are usually the last one in town to jack their prices when they go up. The competition is felt by Thorntons on Wabash and the QnEz up on Archer Elevator which helps keep the prices as low as possible in Springpatch, where the gas prices are usually around 10 cents higher than the surrounding large towns. read more

It is a great store overall, but if they could hire helpful associates it would be even better. The associate working with me had no motivation to work and help me pick up my order. It was like I was trying to communicate with a brick wall. I was in town for the weekend and needed my order for this weekend. After wasting a couple hours of my time with an associate who was rude and just wasn't wanting to help me when I first came in, and with a manager who really was nice and trying to help, I took my business to another SAMs club about 50 minutes away in a different city and was in and out of there in no time. read more
