I live closer to St. Louis than to Springfield so usually do my shopping at one of the bigger chain liquor stores there but have not been happy lately with their beer selection. I had a trip to Springfield coming up and my wife happened to notice that Binny's in Springfield carried a beer that we like but did not know was even available in the U.S. I looked online and found other beers I have not seen at the store in St. Louis so we planned to visit Binny's while in Springfield. All I can say is that I wish I had more trips to Springfield coming up because the beer selection I saw at Binny's was really amazing. I also found the employees extremely helpful and willing to go out of their way to help me find what I was looking for, which is a good thing because I found the beer area overwhelming. Probably once a person learns how the beers are arranged it's easier, but organization system for the beers is not obvious at first glance, however that would be my only complaint. Binny's has a decent drink selection but no better than friar tuck's just down the road. However, the service could not be worse. The staff is incredibly unfriendly and rude, not to mention not all that knowledgeable. Plenty of better options with equivalent or cheaper prices. Horrible service! THE GENERAL MANAGER IS UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE. I called this place to reserve and confirm they had 2 alcohol beverages. Diki picked up the phone and said that it was okay for us to purchase without an account. We then called once again before leaving New York to confirm that we could purchase these alcohol. Someone else picked up the phone and said they were available and able to be purchased without an account. I flew from New York to St. Louis and drove a few hours to this place. When I showed up I asked for the same alcohol. One of the employees said they didn't have it and said they were going to figure it out. I then approached the general manager asking about this issue. He responded to me saying that they do have it and I needed an account or be a VIP to purchase them. So I explained how I called twice and his employees said I didn't need an account to purchase. He replied to me saying that I'm playing games and that a lot of people also say that. He was so rude and didn't even apologize. I explained that I came from New York purposely for that but he continued saying that I was playing them. The fact that he didn't admit his employees mistakes and was even rude to me was EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. I respect their policy of only selling it to their VIPs, but I already called twice to asked if I could. They both said YES! The manager didn't even compensate it. He could've easily just sold it to me to make up for it. But he didn't! This is the WORST customer experience ever! read more

I started doing business with Binnys early last year. Buying liquor and also beer kegs for my home kegerator. About one month ago I went in to get a replacement keg (IPA), the associate said he would get back to me with what they could get. No call. I went back about 10 days later. They wanted a list of possibilities. I gave them that. No call. I went in a week later and the clerk apologized and said he would get back to me. NO CALL AGAIN!! Returned empty for my deposit back. Doing business elsewhere now. Three strikes, you're out. And not even an apology the last trip there. read more

Good selection of products. Ok pricing. Customer help. Doesn't exist. More worried about reading the computer screens. Or talking to other employees and scanning tags. Not worried about asking customers if they can help in any way There used to be a young woman who did work at the store and she was great about trying to assist customers. We are from Ohio and were visiting family in Springfield. My wife was looking for a particular banana Licquor and someone recommended Binny's. It's a big store and so rather than trying to find it on our own we asked a Binny's employee. He knew immediately which brand and where in the store it was, we couldn't remember the brand. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. I like Irish whiskey. So we found the whiskey isle and picked an Irish whiskey we had never seen before. Also we noticed a huge selection of Rye Whiskey which I was not familiar with. When we got up to the checkout the guy told me the Irish whiskey was a great choice and one of his favorites. So my wife asked him what was the difference in rye whiskey and if they had a small bottle we could try. He explained that it has a more spiced flavor like scotch and selected a pint that turned out to be one of the best whiskies I've ever had. Even though there were people in line behind us he took the time to help us and educate us. So I have to say we had a 5-star experience at Binny's. Amazing selection and variety unlike anything we have in Ohio. Topped off by super friendly and knowledgeable staff that clearly enjoy being there. We are have been joking about visiting Springfield more often just so we can return to Binny's on a regular basis. read more

I must say I've never shopped at a place where I feel so uncomfortable shopping. I just got off work looking forward to purchase something to unwind. Immediately upon entering, the atmosphere felt unfriendly. The associates even managers were watching everyone one without even assisting them. I was there to buy alcohol but the way the associates including managers were constantly staring at me made me feel very uncomfortable. I was waiting for one of the associates or managers to ask me if there was anything I need help with but that question never came just stating like I was try to steal because of my ethnic. I went to Binny's last night looking to purchase some beer and other alcohol to the tune of $200 and I didn't purchase it because the manager tonight told us that we could purchase cold beer, store it warm and make it cold again later when we need to use it. If we purchased two 12 packs for 13.97 each, it would be more expensive if we bought one 24 pack for 26.97. They had no warm 24 packs of Corona and no warm 24 packs of Heineken. The manager would not give us the price of the cold 24 pack, for a measly $1.00. As I placed one of my purchases back on the shelf, and as I was leaving, I turned in my Binny's loyalty card and told them that you just lost a loyal customer since I lived in the Chicagoland area. I'll be taking my business back to Friar Tuck and Sam's Club. read more
