Haven't been in awhile. No particular reason, just so many places to go. Came in to a very clean restaurant with lots of upgrades since my last visit. Ordered the Wisconsin cheesy potato soup and am enjoying it. Server is very courteous and attentive. My meal is the Mushroom and Swiss chopped beef. I ordered mash potatoes and gravy. Green beans on the side are great. My son ordered the breakfast horseshoe. Definitely a central Illinios favorite. read more

The place in taylorville that doesn't have the correct "VIBE". I love taylorville and all of the locals seem to run to place to eat. I had to give the place a chance. The waitress was very sweet when I walked and instantly had me seated immediately. She was on her A game and she was wonderful! I ordered the mozzarella sticks as an appetizer and it was so delicious! I also ordered their pasta and it was okay. Bland tasting and could be better. The reason why I'm saying this place isn't a "Vibe" is because I have no clue who this person is but a group of three men were just staring at me in the back. It made me feel uncomfortable and I'm pretty sure it was the staff. I would rate the waitresses/busboys a 5/5 But the vibe and overall of this place is a 2/5 Pros: -great waitresses -decent food -good price Cons: -rude staff in the back with staring problems -checking out was a hassle due to low staff. If you don't like this restaurant your heart is not beating. These are the friendliest most wonderful people in the world. The food is absolutely fresh and always good. I love the hometown atmosphere and the fact that they know your name and the waitress will kid with you and smother you with service love and attention. Beware!! Unscrupulous pricing practices!! Ate there recently and my friends main meal of liver and onions was overcooked, (meat was like shoe leather), and the waitress said she would not charge us for it. And as a side note, both of our meals 'included' soup. When we got the bill, we were charged for the soup because, as the manager dictated to the poor waitress, 'if they take something off the bill, then a charge is put into place to compensate for the loss'. Are you kidding me??!! Absolutely unconscionable, one of the worst business practices I've ever seen...ever....and needless to say, we'll never go back and will continue to spread the word. This place used to be the best place to eat anywhere but in the last 6 months it has really started to slide downhill. I recently had a rib eye that came medium rare as I had ordered but had been liberally coated with red pepper powder. Didn't ask for that and it had never been served to me that way before. The service has gone downhill as well. We had to go and ask for silverware and had to go and ask for drink refills. Don't know what has happened here but I really hate to see it as this was the best place to go not that long ago. Our last two visits were disappointing and I probably will not go back. read more

We went there for lunch and it was mediocre but cheap. Ordered lasagna and it look like it came from the frozen food section of grocery store. I use to eat breakfast here on occasion, the food wasn't too bad. That was up until they brought my ribeye and eggs to me one morning. The piece of meet was rotten. When I say rotten I mean it stunk like something that had been laying on the side of the road for a few days. My brother smelled it from the other side of the table. It almost made him sick. How on Earth could the cook not have smelled that. Disgusting. I told them to take it back and I would just have sausage. They must have just scraped that disgusting piece of meat off the plate and plopped the sausage patty right back where the tainted meat had laid. I refused the plate again and the waitress seemed agitated. Then I ordered something totally different. When I finished and went up to pay they never offered an apology or anything. I guess it isn't the Albanian way. Anyway, i haven't been back and don't plan on it. Besides that, the young foreign kid that works there always looks like he just woke up from a two day hangover. He needs to comb his hair and tuck in his wrinkled shirt. Do yourself a favor and eat somewhere else. read more
