Nice people, decent atmosphere. I ordered the "jumbo shrimp" and they were smedium at best. They're the shrimp they serve as an appetizer on cruises if you know what I mean. Where I'm from, jumbo shrimp are the size of your face and pay taxes. Didn't seem like much was homemade, but there's not much around in the town to compete with. Will do in a pinch but I doubt I'll ever crave it when I'm not passing through. read more

We went here for dinner. Food was expensive for what it was and tasted really bad. NOT HOME MADE. Kids got hamburgers & fries which they were ok with, though the top buns were kinda burned. My hubby got fried chicken breast and I got fried chicken dinner. I ordered corn and mash potato with brown gravy and salad bar (2 sides & salad bar included in meal). BAD! Chicken was so dry it reminded me of Chevy Chase Christmas Vacation movie when he cut into the Turkey. There wasn't any meat there at all. Hard, dry skin with no meat. Corn was canned. Instant potatoes were awful. They offer baked potatoes not sure why they don't make fresh mashed pot? Hubby's chicken breast tasted like it had fish batter on it all fried in the same old grease. Salad bar was sad with few topping choices. Picked over iceberg lettuce in the bowl. Total we spent at least $50 bucks plus we drank water. Waitress never asked how everything was. Upon checkout, told her the food was really bad. She didn't seem to care. No apology. That was $50 from our grocery budget. I'm all about supporting small local business, but come on you got to do way better if you want to stay open. read more

This is better. It is a truck stop, not much on ambiance, but the service was full of home town charm. Everyone was so nice and welcoming and the food was like mom's cooking. I got Mom's Special with 2 plate-size pancakes, an egg, and 2 bacon. I could have gotten sausage links instead. I got a side of hash brown, because they are the ruler of a good breakfast place to me. If you can get a good crunch on the outside, but keep the inside, creamy, it's a win and Toni's has it down. Plus, their bacon was smoky, which was a pleasant surprise. read more

This restaurant has been a favorite of my family's for a long time. They've got some of the best breakfast selections in the area. A small family owned establishment that really knows how to feed ya. Tonight I had the Smothered Sirloin which was ground sirloin steak with mozzarella cheese melted over the top. I had them add grilled mushrooms and onions. It was really good. It was ok. Nothing fancy, just a roadside diner. Fairly extensive menu. I bet it's a good breakfast place. I got the cheeseburger, $8.99. I opted for the soup but then found out I had to serve myself, and since I have a cold and cough decided to go without. Preformed frozen patty was a disappointment. Seems like a nice place in the middle of nowhere. It's so quiet here, I can hear the wind and distant humming of a machine. The owner of this place, Jeton Kasa, is an uneducated ass.... Ok so yeah...where to begin. How about a little about me... Im diabetic. I have high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Im lactose intolerant. My Dr is not happy with me because my diabetes is out of control and he has directed me to lay low of all those wonderful things that make eating so much fun. Yay me. On top of all that my husband and i drive an 18 wheeler so im pretty much dangling in the breeze at most dinners/restaurants/fast food. That being said I do quite well adapting menu item to my insane dietary needs... those being no potatoes (of any kind), no white flour (of any kind including bread and breading), no pasta, no rice. Right now im trying to stay carb free and have been doing a good job of it for over 2 weeks now (not long but im working on it). I did not even think about the breading when i ordered the "all you can eat walleye". Now... the review. There are a lot of things i can forgive like the fact that my alternative to a side of some kind of potato was cottage cheese only. So... no side for me. I can also forgive that the soup was full of elbow macaroni. Its a chance you take when dining out. I can even forgive the fact that the tea (unsweet as per my dietary needs) tasted like it was dipped from the lake. Im a country girl and have swallowed my share of lake water. No big. What i can not forgive is the OWNER of the joint coming to my table and reprimanding me for taking the tempura style breading off my "all you can eat walleye". It was absolutely unacceptable and i will not be going back. I cant help my dietary needs and i was not offered an alternative to the breaded deep fried dish i chose. I, like so many other truck drivers out here, am hit with what i call the great trifecta... diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. I do not recommend eating at this dinner. Just mozzy own down to exit 100 to the Road Ranger and eat at the Star 66 dinner. Treat yourself to a good dinning experience with better options. All this said, our waitress was mortified. She apploigized profusely and was embarrassed. I told her it was not her fault of course because im a decent sort of individual. read more

This place will give you a slightly creepy feeling if you're not a local (or the typical older white human). I've been to this place once and always felt like people where staring. Some coworkers of mine where on a road trip and stopped at this place and they said they felt like they were being looked at oddly by one of the servers and the locals. The people seem nice enough, but the food was barely seasoned. The hash browns were greasy...and the ribeye sandwich was a tough, boring slab of meat on a hotdog bun. That's it. The grilled pork chops were not chops, but thin-sliced pork...also barely seasoned. Green beans out of a can. Mashed potatoes that weren't seasoned at all. Pre-made gravy. Salad was just iceburg, with a handful of choices available: old tomatoes and peppers, boiled egg, and cheese. I will say the Ranch dressing was really good. The homemade potato soup was the best part of the meal, and it would have only rated 3 stars. Also...not ONE vegetarian or vegan option on the dinner/lunch menu, other than potatoes, iceberg lettuce and canned green beans. read more
