Kicking 2016 off early Friday morning, Mike and I decided to let someone else cook us breakfast so we headed to #eatlocal at the Parkway Cafe. I've eaten here numerous times over the years, but this was the first time in a while so I kept it simple. Two egg combo with bacon, hash browns and toast. $6 for breakfast!! That's a deal. My eggs were cooked perfectly over easy and the hash browns were crispy in parts and didn't taste of oil. Bacon was crispy and delicious and my rye toast (not pictured) was over toasted, but still edible. I'm giving the Parkway four stars for consistent and tasty food over the years, breakfast all day, and reasonable pricing. read more

I had lunch there with a friend of my mother's, a week after I had lunch with a friend and after it was sold. I am so sorry to say it was not near as good as before. On one visit I had the meatloaf, it was a very large serving and I packed the other half slice it to go as my husband loves meatloaf sandwiches. I dumped it into the garbage as I pulled into the carwash a couple doors down. The other visit was just chicken tenders and French fries. I was disappointed on both visits. They will not be bringing back the stuffed green pepper soup. Our server was very nice and attentive but without the watchful eye of the previous owner the food has slipped. I was met with a smile and a how are you today, I sat at the counter and had quick friendly service. Lots of options on the menu for breakfast or lunch. I ordered the breaded tenderloin sandwich and it was one of the best breaded tenderloin sandwiches I have ever eaten. Great locally owned restaurant on the N end of Springfield. Pretty sure they have been here for years but we just went there for breakfast for the first time last year. 2017. Much bigger inside than it looks from the road, and pretty cozy inside. Attentive wait staff who know the menu. We have only eaten breakfast here but they have an all you can eat fried chicken special on Sunday I would be interested in trying. This has always been a cozy family favorite spot. A huge menu offering Homestyle everything and local favorites. Their breakfast menu is fantastic. The wait staff are friendly and attentive. I've had many delicious meals here. Their milkshakes and desserts are delicious!! We were in town for soccer games and looking for somewhere reliable to eat. The Parkway Cafe had 4 out of 5 stars on Yelp and looked like it had enough menu options to satisfy everyone in our party. The waitress was excellent. Our drinks were never empty, and the food was delicious. Everything was reasonably priced so we all enjoyed a slice of pie for dessert too. We would definitely recommend this restaurant and look forward to visiting again the next time we are in town. read more

In my opinion, this is the best breakfast joint in town. I've tried them all. The service is second to none and the food is very consistent. Perfect every time or they will fix it. Some of the reviews on here are not fair as I personally know that these people are more than willing to go out of there way to give you the best dinning experience possible. The breakfast horseshoe is really good but my go to plate is the parkway big breakfast. The waitress in this place are the best. They are well staffed every time I come in. They never let your drinks get empty, your food is out in a timely manner and they are always smiling. Parkway is always busy but never too busy. You never wait more than 5 minutes or so. It is very well ran. The quality and quantity of food they are pumping out of that kitchen just goes to show how well this place is ran. A+++++ in my books. Customer for life!!! read more

People who were not even seated when we ordered received their food and we had not yet been served. The waitress finally came over and said she had forgotten to turn in our order. From the first time which I believe is in the range of 20 years ago, we were not treated like customers, we were treated like good friends. The food is good! The service is warm and friendly! What's more, when the cafe is not overflowing with guests (which is unusual), Leanne, the owner comes about a visits with her guests. Salad was just lettuce and croutons and it is summer...no cucumber, tomato etc? Green beans were pretty good. Very disappointed after all of the advertising I have heard about home cooking. This is just basic food, nothing spectacular. I have been here three times within a couple of months of each other. The first time the service was great and food was cooked well. Second time was nothing to write home about. The third and last time (I will not be going again) was terrible. Service was VERY slow. Took a rather long time to get our food. I asked for crispy bacon and the bacon I was served was barely even cooked. Tried to find our waitress but to no avail. I mentioned the experience as we were paying the bill and all the girl could say was, "She has a big table to take care of."
