The name says it all. This is probably in the top 5 cafes /breakfast places in Springfield. Fair pricing for a very good selection of food. We got lucky today it wasn't too busy and we were on call for a large delivery that had a one hour heads up. I wanted a light meal that wouldn't give me a food coma because there was work ahead of my day. The restaurant was clean from the front door to the table. Plenty of light on two sides with solarium styled walls. Many choices of food on the menu. Our server was good about checking in on us after dropping off the meals. I haven't had Tastys in a long time. I ended up on that side of town. Got a Gyro with no tomato's. They must of ran out of onions and sauce. This is the driest Gyro I've ever had. Disappointed to say the least. They use to be my favorite place to get a Gyro back in the day read more

In all fairness I have NOT eaten here - I contemplated doing so , however after reading through these reviews - my decision has been made . Why would I choose an unkempt restaurant? Along w the possibilities of foreign objects in my food, & the potential for poor service. !? That's " 3 strikes you're out " It's unfortunate because of the close proximity to my home . Came to visit my son in Springfield Illinois and he said he always wanted to try the tasty café so we all went to dinner there and I'm gonna tell you it was awesome. The food was out of this world. It was fantastic. He had a burger that he said was probably the best burger he ever had. My daughter-in-law had a rap and she said it was phenomenal and I had the liver and onions which I like that it was the most tender liver I ever ate. I can't wait to come back and visit just to go and have dinner there again. read more

First, let me say that I clearly see why there are mixed reviews of this café here on Yelp, as I have mixed feelings about our dinning experience as well. Our first impression of this café was the trash that was piled up outside the front door. I just assumed that it was part of the morning cleaning routine until I overheard a regular customer comment that it had been there since the day before. Upon entering, it was apparent that cleanliness was not their highest priority. It certainly wasn't "filthy," but it could stand a good cleaning. That being said, everything else was very good. The food was delicious, the coffee was hot and very good, and no complaints about the service at all even though there was only one young man running the dining room. The prices were very reasonable as well. Unfortunately, they let slip the cleanliness aspect of their establishment. No complaints otherwise. read more

We ordered takeout and they seemed extremely busy when we picked it up. The food wasn't the best, however, we said maybe it would be better if we ate inside next time, especially for breakfast foods, not their fault! We typically like to eat at a locally run restaurant versus the usual chain. We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon on our way back from Springfield. The first red flag as others have noted was the cleanliness was not their top priority. It was not filthy but could have used a good cleaning. The overwhelming scent from the plug in air freshener also had me wondering what smells they were trying to cover up. The dining area was being run by a younger person but it wasn't busy so we had no concerns there. When I went to the rest room to wash my hands I noticed that the faucet did not have hot water, another strike. I ordered a club sandwich with the soup of the day, my wife ordered chicken stir fry. The soup came out right away and was good, no complaints there. It took a bit to get our meal but it finally came out. The sandwich was "okay" nothing that couldn't be made at home but it tasted off. The wife's chicken stir fry didn't look like any stir fry I had seen. It was soupy and greasy looking. I asked her if it was okay and she just replied she was picking out the chicken. While both of us had these concerns the server never came back to check on us. Finally he noticed we were finished and gave us a ticket. The price for slightly disappointing food was reasonable, unfortunately the person at the cash register could not make change and we waited even longer while two people figured out our change. I get this is a dinner not a steakhouse but regardless you should have a clean restaurant, second your staff should know how to greet, check up on and give exact change from their patrons and last, while the food was not horrible, something made both of us sick. 1st time under this name at this location. During ordering the waitress was unfamiliar with the menu and we had to point out what we were ordering. Ordered potatoes and bacon crispy. Potatoes were barely brown. Bacon was barely crisp. GFs order for fruit pancakes came as crepes. Waitress asked if we needed more coffee and answered yes, then walked past our table 3 times wandering before we got coffee. Food taste was mediocre at best. read more

My family eats here a few times a month. I have NEVER had a meal that wasn't good. Service is good and prices are very reasonable. One of the things I like the most is their varied menu. Breakfast choices are wonderful and I especially like their coffee. My granddaughters are all about the burgers and chicken strips. So glad to have a great dinner in Sherman!! read more

Service was great. I liked the staff a lot, and our server was friendly. They suggested the buffet, which was fine because it was quick and well priced. Food was just okay. Tasty Cafe is one of our breakfast group's regular haunts. They have a wonderfully charming waitstaff whom take thoughtful care of their regulars and new patrons alike. The breakfast selections are diverse and from all reports universally delicious. The coffee flows and the food arrives hot and fast. It is a top notch breakfast spot for anyone in the area. Tried it again today to give it another chance and the customer service wasn't very good. It wasn't very busy and our waitress barely came to check up on us, the coffee was Luke warm, and then when she brought us our food it was cold to the touch, she was missing half the order and had to go back to the kitchen and have them make the food she forgot. Beware food could contain pieces of wire. After ordering broccoli and then taking the first bite there was something in the broccoli. After spitting it out on a napkin the was something unusual, it was a piece of wire about 1 inch long with an extremely small diameter. I waved the chef over and showed him, he seemed unconcerned. This is another of those "best kept secrets". My wife and I stopped in on Saturday evening for dinner and were very pleased with the entire event. Very good service. Clean surroundings. Full menu and just plain good food at a reasonable price. I ordered spaghetti with meat balls and a cup of beef noodle soup and wife had broiled chicken breast with two sides. I expected at least a 15 minute wait since they were fairly busy; at least a dozen other patrons were in the restaurant. But the soup was delivered in just a few minutes and the rest of our meal less than 10 minutes wait. We'll be back. read more
