Cup of Chili
Steven P.

Back at it again for 217 Comfort Food Week! Trade Winds $5 offering this week is a fried and breaded pork chop covered in white gravy, with mashed potatoes and gravy, corn and a slice of toast. The food was outstanding and I started with a small cup of chili which was phenomenal! On the downside (only reason I am not at 5 stars), the service was interesting. Every table (all 11) were taken during the noon lunch rush and nearly the entire bar was filled as well. That being said, the waitress/bartender was covering everything in the restaurant and you could clearly tell she was flustered and I do not blame her. You have a food promotion running and during the lunch rush...you need three servers minimum! There were three cooks in the back pushing out product at a good pace but she was by her lonesome; get her some help please!!

Divey but fun

Dive O Rama! But $1.00drafts on Thursday is awesomeness! On the outside, this place looks like a sad pole barn. The inside looks like your weird uncle's basement. Service was super quick and nice and food super good. Nothing fancy here...burgers, chicken sandwiches, big pork tenderloin sammies! Bar type appetizers like cheese curds and breaded mushrooms, which for $3 you can have with your entree in lieu of fries. Go for it. Don't judge a book by its cover, come on in and enjoy!

Cheese pizza, chicken sandwich and club sandwich.

I feel like this place is hit or miss one day you order an entree and when you go back it may or may not be the same.

Good place to gamble all your money, and drink occasionally but mostly gamble and then occasionally eat but usually gamble.

This place was absolutely awesome. It's right in downtown Springfield. We meant to go for just a…read morebeer or two, and stayed for wait longer. The bartenders were fantastic and the atmosphere there is exactly what I want out of an Irish pub. I wish I'd taken pictures, but I got carried away with having such a good time that we forgot. We also ended up finishing a bottle of Jameson by paying for four shots, and got to sign it! (That's a tradition --- finish a Jameson bottle, sign it, and they put it on the wall). I'm very honored to have my name inside a Springfield institution. My wife used to live in Springfield, and this is one of her favorite spots. So we will definitely be back!

I just want to make a post about the horrible experience we just had at JP Kelly's. Our whole…read morefamily went in there to drink after the farmers market. I brought my dog, as he is well behaved. We saw the same corgis at buzz bomb-everyine was chills after a few barks He was just fine at Buzz Bomb, where we came from. There were other dogs at Buzz bomb and of course some barking took place then everyone was friends. NO PROBLEMS!! K? Keep that in your back pocket while reading this. Our family decided to go to JPs. Clyde didnt make a sounds the entire time. Multiple people came up to me saying how good of a boy he was being. He was minding his business. This couple with 2 corgis comes in, same people from buzz bomb, and obviously my dog is interested as is theirs. Their dog barked first*****, so mine barked after, duh. So a bartender came up to us (group of 10-12) and said if my dog barked again, we needed to leave. I asked another bartender why because the other couples dog barked first and his response was "well they come in weekly" ahhhh sooo it's okay since they patron there often and we don't as much. Although, their dog started it everytime?? So I was saying goodbye to my family and ANOTHER bartender came up saying we had to leave and don't come back. TRUST!!! We won't!! AFTER clyde and I left, the bartender told my brother in law that he told us to leave 3x which literally did not happen!! He told me the one time and we left. So please!! Roll the footage on that one I would love to see it. The bartender tried fighting my brother in laws dad after nasty comments were made about my niece.

George Rank's - GoCubsGo!!!

Its a very nice mix of burgers and "sammiches" for anyone to enjoy. Appetizers are also available. Buffalo wings here are my favorite!!! Then there is the cocktails!!! Then morphed to Sir Pizza, a pizza place with an Arthurian theme. When local musician George Rank picked it up and opened George Rank's Spirits and Sandwiches it was well-received and of decent quality. Alas, nothing is forever and George is no longer with the living. The location has had many names and themes since then, often returning to the "George Rank's" meme. The latest iteration started out well as the owner had owned a popular chilli parlour and brought Nancy, the lady who made the chilli and soups over to the bar and grill. As noted above, nothing is forever. Nancy has moved on. There are no soups, the chilli would make a Pennsylvania diner or truck stop proud - but certainly is not fit to be served in the "Chilli Capitol of the Civilised Universe". The ambiance has changed, too. Noisy video poker machines spew their racket into the smallish room, making conversation difficult. And the video jukebox flashes its adverts garishly into the gloom. I ordered a roast beef and pepper jack sandwich on a wheat roll. After a few minutes and after my dining companions had received their food I was told that "the roast beef is still frozen" (this was after 12 noon) and asked would I like another choice of meat. So, I asked for the Virgina ham, pepper jack cheese on a whole wheat roll. What I got was ham, yellow cheese and a white roll. And the above mentioned horrid cup of chilli. None of us will be back under the current owners.
