Ok came here on whim with a work convention. Chris was bartending. This is very unbiased as I don't live here but Chris is the shit. We had so much fun!! He was engaging and knew his alcohol and how to make a stop at a bar worth staying. Big shout out chris!! I will definitely come back and see you when I'm in town! read more

Popped in here while on the job. What a cool place. Drinks , conversation , just all around nice experience. Employees very nice. Stop in and enjoy read more

If a 0 star rating was possible, this place would be getting 0 stars. The owner of this establishment kicked others out after he overcharged them $40 for 4 white claws... all they wanted was a refund. After waiting a half hour for drinks, the owner screamed in my friends face for "being in the way", and screamed at my friends and I to "GTFO". The owner of this establishment was drunk on the job, and reeked of alcohol. This is not how a business should be ran, and I'm sorry for the others who were disrespected yesterday as well. I've been around the globe, and I have never seen such a disorganized and dangerous environment to grab a drink with friends. There are much better alternative bars nearby... I'd consider going elsewhere if you're seeking a fun or safe time out with friends or family. read more

Celtic Mist Pub - The dangerous establishment that is ran by a disrespectful alcoholic. - Pubs Near Me - Springfield, Illinois

Was in town for 3 weeks working and stopped in here a few times for a quick drink. Very clean. Very friendly staff. Would go back for sure. Only down side is no food but plenty of options within walking distance. read more

Owner is the most disrespectful person I've met. I will never go back there. He cussed at my friend for blocking the end of the bar and pushed him in the chair out of the way. Waited 20 minutes for a drink and then disrespected for no reason. read more

Cool bar, bartender is pretty great too! Very helpful to an out-of-towner. Rick took very good care of me and was super helpful in suggesting dining options within walking distance. Would definitely go back! read more

1. The bartender mixed up our drink order and when I let him know, he started arguing with me. I told him it was no big deal, but he was visibly angry with me over a simple mistake. I offered to pay for the wrong drink since he was so insistent that it was my fault. Let it go, dude! Mistakes happen, you don't need to play the blame game. 2. I bought a bunch of songs on the juke box, and then the staff turned it off. So, money wasted. The staff was definitely aware because they were openly laughing about turning off someone's music because they didn't like it (not realizing I was the one, since I used my phone app, they had this convo right in front of me). I've been here in the past and liked it but I'm very turned off by the rudeness of the staff. When you start hating your customers, it's time to find a new vocation. We left without finishing our drinks and I don't think I will return. read more

I ended up at the Celtic Mist Pub on a Thursday night after 10pm with two friends. This is a nice bar but unfortunately there was no food. Thumbs up for a basic bar though! There was a group of presumably regular customers sitting at the bar. We chose a tall table and settled in. We had a Stella Cidre, a Stella Artois, and a Boddingtons Pub Ale. These were all on tap and we had multiple rounds. I won't tell you how many but it was a fun night! The bartender was attentive and I'd certainly return the next time I'm in Springfield and need drinks! read more

Celtic Mist Pub - a glass of beer on a table - Pubs Near Me - Springfield, Illinois

I could not believe how awful the service was at this place. I drove in from out of town and settled into my hotel across the street and could not wait for a pint. How thrilled was I when I saw an Irish Pub right across the street! I walked across the street and sat at the bar LITERALLY right in front of two employees. No acknowledged me, I sat there for at least 5 minutes while they discussed the evening. They were discussing work, but I was the only one of two people there. I can't begin to explain...I was less than 5 feet from them...for 5 minutes...no greeting, not beer.....unbelievable. Don't go here. read more

Decent drinks, terrible service. Rude bouncers and servers, it almost seems like they don't want business most of the time. Unfortunately is the only adult 3am downtown read more

This place is very clean and Jay is very friendly and professional and makes good drinks. I recommend this place

A group of five of us came in and sat down at a table. While trying to figure out what we wanted to order as there was no beer list, a rather rude waiter yelled from the bar, we are not a restaurant, there is no service. No @hit dude, we have been to bars before, thank you-even REAL Irish bars-this one seemed fake. Ok beer choices. Staff was slow and unfriendly. Seemed like a locals place. Would not waste my time returning. Bad music. Uncomfortable chairs. read more

The lack of TV's and fun staff make it a nice change of pace from the cookie-cutter sports bars. You never know what sort of crowd to expect, which is often a mix of tourists, guests of nearby hotels, the legislative crowd, and some of Springfield's more interesting locals. It's most packed after 1am on weekends. Random bonus: The nicest bar bathrooms in Springfield. Warning: They serve droids here. read more

Very disappointing service! The ugly girl behind the bar Tuesday evening had a bad, bad attitude! Service was so slow, that our group waited a while for our first drinks, and finally gave up and went next-door to the Globe. Save yourself the disappointment and go directly to the Globe! Don't waste your time or money at Celtic Mist. read more

Best place to go for a drink in town. Great atmosphere, and even better bartenders. You may not be able to watch the game coming up, but you can definitely have a good time. Worth a visit by anyone from out of town. read more

Ah, the local watering hole of Springfield, IL. lol. This place was fun. Went here on a Saturday night during January. The place was pretty busy with locals. Lots of people drinking and having a good time. They had live music which was pretty good. The drinks were stiff and cheap, just the way I like it. Good time. But seriously, this must be the happening spot in the town. They have NO TVs so you can't watch the game. I would prefer at least one TV just to check some score of games but I was having a good time with the Irish theme to care too much. Go here. read more

Great draft selection and nice atmosphere. Traditional Irish means no tv's on game night.

Great Irish bar. Very good draft beers and a full assortment of liquor. Staff is friendly and make you feel welcome. read more

Celtic Mist Pub - a bar with lots of bottles of alcohol - Pubs Near Me - Springfield, Illinois

I wish I could give this place no stars. Went to this bar on a very busy day (fatass 5k) and the staff could not handle the intense pressure of the big event. Both male bartenders working were extremely rude and treated me and the group I was with with the absolute worst disrespect. The bar had placed a water station at the end of their bar and one member of my group was sitting there close by it. The bar tender rudely yelled at him to "move the fuck out of my way" when he was going to take the trash out. My friend scooted over for the bartender and thought he was being rude as a joke and so he laughed it off. However, when the bartender returned he pulled the back of my friends chair back about 5 feet from the bar and screamed at him again saying "I told you to get the fuck out of my way". When me and my friends told the bartender that was completely and out of line he repetitively cursed us out and told us to get the fuck out. Absolutely no respect for their paying customers. Will never be coming back and I hope the owner of this bar knows they will be losing business from me and every person I know. read more

Great place, great service. Bar tender hooked me up with great local flavors as well as personalized favorites. Had a great time will recommend visiting. read more

If i could give this place 0 stars i would because they don't even deserve one star. The workers here are extremely rude. As a paying customer i find this very irritating. I was so dissatisfied with their service from more than one employee i didn't even spend my money here and i never will read more

Have always liked this place. Too bad bartender ruined it with his attitude. Ordered a Boulevard...thought it was the regular wheat beer. Turned out to be some seasonal ginger lemon beer which was horrible! Bartender told me "this isn't walmart and you can't exchange it." Wow! Terrible service in my opinion. read more

The Celtic Mist is not the bar you see so often today. There are no big screen TVs with some game on that you don't care to watch. It's a real pub where you go have a drink, chat with friends, or hear live music. The staff are friendly and courteous and the drink selection is fantastic. If there were an option for 6 stars, they would get them all from me. read more

I love the fact that there aren't any tv's and that it has the feel of a true pub. The atmosphere is great, the staff is excellent and the drinks are unlimited. They have a nice variety on tap and obviously a nice variety of Irish whiskey. It is centrally located in downtown Springfield and a great alternative to our over priced hotel bar next door. read more

I'm really confused. Maybe it was the impending Alan Jackson concert that night, or this is a normal thing, but country has invaded Celtic Mist. We went in there for a drink. We were greeted by a dress code almost entirely of plaid, cowboy hats and cowboy boots. Luckily, I had worn my ever so cute ankle cowboy boots, or we might have been exorcised off the premises. Country music- not mainstream country, but the kind you listen to while doing country stuff... don't ask for examples. I just wear the boots- Blasted the entire 30 minutes we were there. They have good specials, but their normal prices seemed a little high for the area, almost Chicago prices. The decor was an interesting mix. I saw an animal skull, and a bull-riding man porcelain figure, but the rest was Irish-y. Another visit will have to determine this place. read more

Decent bar with usually good entertainment when they have it. Decent beer and whisky (and whiskey) selections. Best of all NO TV! They need to at least get some snacks, or set up deals for food delivery if they cannot prepare light pub grub. read more

This is one of my favorite bars in Springfield. CM does the pub right with portraits of Irish authors, maps of Ireland, low lighting, and no TVs. The beer selection is solid and always fresh. The service is always prompt. The prices are good. There's always a spot at the large bar, and there's always tables to accommodate larger groups. I haven't figured out the live music schedule yet, but that can result in a pleasant surprise when you walk in on a Celtic rock group belting forth crunchy tunes that you weren't expecting. read more

Coming in from out of town to see a concert at the boondocks pub. Very rude at the bar. Threw our drinks at our face. Tourist trap. Would not come back here again. Find somewhere else. Giving away free shots to their friends. Watched it three times while we waited for our order. Would not recommend. read more

Awesome place! Here for the day but the people here are awesome the pretty lil bartender is very respectful, not pushy or rushing and helpful I'm from out of town but with everyone here it seems like this is home! If your staying nearby check this place out! read more

On the rare night out, we usually tend to end up here. Always has a great atmosphere, dark and cozy. Great selection of alcohol and beer. Service is always good. Nice for people watching as they walk by since it is located downtown. read more

Great atmosphere, no TVs! Over a dozen beers on tap.

Great service and friendly atmosphere. Good selection of draft beers. (Including PBR!).

Friendly bartender who told us about what's happening in the area. With a great restaurant recommendations!! Must stop in a say hello if in the area ask for Sarah very informative about the local area. read more

Nice quiet place it seemed like. We stopped in on a recommendation from our hotel nearbye, they called it one of downtown Springfield's best bars. We went in on a Friday night around 930-10pm and had a couple beers/drinks. Bar itself was full but the place itself wasnt so it wasnt obnoxiously crowded. We were able to enjoy the jukebox and good service without feeling like we had a time limit before a younger louder crowd started to show up. We visited 5-6 bars in our 3 day stay and Celtic is definitely in our top 3. Definitely will return next time we are in town. read more

Are you downtown right now and in some loud ass bar hoping for it all to be over? Are you thinking "I wasn't like these kids was I?" ... well, A: yes you were, and B, go to Celtic right now: The 3am downtown bar for adults. Celtic Mist has a delightful atmosphere! The drinks are pretty fair, some slightly high, but overall decent pricing and fantastic selection. Escape the bros and hoes for the evening and enjoy a relaxing drink with other mature adults. They have some chill bands every now and then as well, but mostly you just enjoy the ability to hear yourself think and hear your friends talk without feeling a mist of spit in your ear from having to yell to talk. read more

I've been a big fan of this bar since it opened. Great whiskey and draft beer selection.

I love the fact that this bar has no TVs around to distract you from conversation. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about their selection of beers and scotches. The only thing I wish they had was a list of their beers. read more
