The fucking bouncer was a dick. I went with my brother who just wanted to use the bathroom after we ordered a drink, and he was glued to our backs the whole time we were there. All I did was help my brother up the stairs to find the bathroom, and he forced us to leave after he accused my brother of stumbling up the stairs. He wouldn't even let him use the bathroom before he made us leave. He didn't even let us have our drink that we paid for, I have never been treated with such disrespect at any other bar I have been to. read more

Downstairs has a decent bar. Naturally it can be loud and crowded, or dead, depending on the day of the week. But what sets Floyd's apart is the game room upstairs. I lived in Springfield for 11 months and I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy. There isn't much to do there and I spent most of my time after work drinking. And Floyd's was my favorite place to do that. I'm not really sure why I like Floyd's so much. The price of drinks is pretty standard in Springfield, so it's not like it's much cheaper than anywhere else. I will say that their shots are not that cheap (and I love shots). Beer is the best way to go, since they have pretty cheap drafts and specials. I do really like Graham as a bartender, and Jamie and Vanessa are very friendly. I frequented Floyd's pretty often when I first moved to Springfield and always had good service. Upstairs is also an additional bonus. There are random games, foozeball, air hockey, etc. And there are always places to sit. If you want to just chill or hang out with a group of friends, Floyd's is a nice place to go. But if you want to get crazy, just stay home and drink. It's cheaper and you don't run into Springfield weirdos on the street. read more

This place is one of the dopest in downtown Springfield to get your drinky drink on. Rub elbows with locals and legislators looking to get sloppy drunk. Expect heavy pours, cheap drinks and bowls of Chex mix if you ask nicely. Make sure to tip your servers or I'll open a can of whupass on you. read more

Not a fan - rude staff and overpriced mixed drinks/shots do not make for a good bar. No food either.... Very dark in side and bathroom was disgusting. Floors throughout entire place were filthy. Maybe that's why they keep it so dark in there! I would not recommend this place. Move on to something nicer.... read more

Floyd's has good specials and a pretty decent selection of beer. It gets crowded on the holidays--like Thanksgiving where it seems like everyone is having a mini reunion with their high school posse at Floyds. The (newish) upstairs area is less crowded. The servers are friendly. And, you can get pizza here, which is always a bonus for when you're drinking. read more

Good beer selection, casual atmosphere, decent prices, and friendly staff. They also have a shuffle board game and a basketball game. It gets pretty crowded on weeknights and is a good spot to finish out the night or begin one. There is also a room full of hundreds of lost coats (which I know because I left my coat there). There is nothing out of this world about this bar, but it is Springfield, so any negatives easily outweighed by positives. read more

Tried to book a party at Floyd's, but after three phone calls with no response over two months I gave up.

Its an ok bar. But they are over priced on their beer. For a Guinness they charge $5 on the dot. I can go across the street to three different bars and get the same pint for $3.50 to $4 . Its more of the younger college kids...not that its different from the other bars, but this one tends to get the I just turned 21 crowd. A good place to go with friends but there are other places you will like better. read more

Downstairs serves the most innovative cocktails in Springfield. Awesome selection of craft beers rotating on tap, obviously lovingly hand-picked. Ran by great, local guys who are community minded. This place was good before, and now that the second level is open it gets a 4th-star, easy. They have everything: pool, darts, ... and yes, Big Buck Hunter. The beer selection is good and the prices are even better. Whenever you order two mixed drinks with a ten and get change back (after tip), you know you're in Springfield. They weren't even well drinks. /sigh there are some things I miss about that town. The bartenders and waitresses are fun and good at their jobs. Floyd's is a great Downtown bar, located on the south end of the Old State Capitol, on 5th St. We planned a birthday party and the owner was more than kind and helpful to us. We planned the party for the second floor, which I highly recommend checking out as it is completely different than the main level. No matter what town you visit, female bartenders often choose to ignore and or not serve female patrons. However, Floyd's is one place I have never, ever been snubbed, beside's Two Brothers. The bartenders are consistently friendly no matter who is working - and if you don't like your drinks strong, just tell the bartender what you want and then add, "but not too strong". Floyd's is a great place to go with a group of friends for pre-post dinner drinks or a night out with the girls. Great Downtown bar! read more

Floyd's is one of the main reasons my husband and I don't mind coming to Springfield for our work conferences. It's a short walk from our hotel, the drinks are cheap (especially compared to Chicago prices!), it's noisy enough that others can't overhear you easily, but not too noisy that you can't hear others at your table. It has a very "townie" kind of feel, but I personally think that's part of its charm. We spend most of our nights in Springfield hunkered down at our favorite corner table, and look forward to our next Springfield trip so that we can go to Floyd's read more

Came on a Friday from out of town and just kind of stumbled into Floyds. Pretty cool set up downstairs and then two pool tables and some ski ball upstairs. Drinks were priced pretty good...2 bucks for pbr..good place to go for drinking and talking, nothing too wild when I was there. Just not a fan... No offense but it is your typical dark & dank watering hole. The bathroom is tiny and gross. Drinks are ok but that's expected. Maybe if it was lighter inside and they served some sort of small food menu it might be better. There are alot more places I would go before I would recommend Floyd's. What a great bar! 2 stories and two totally different crowds on each floor. Wood floors throughout. Reminiscient of climbing a wide oak in my grandfather's backyard, and overlooking the pasture. As I clambered over sticky branches, ensuring no confrontation with hearty jumping spiders, I stopped to feel the wind. A robin's nest laid above me a few feet and I stopped to listen. Over the wind I heard an odd chirping sound, a rustling gurgling chirp-only to realize it was two squirrels fucking. One had a broken leg, maybe, the female. I thought maybe she was being taken advantage of, possibly even drugged, but as i watched this forceful lovemaking, i made eye contact with the female. She wasn't sad, or drugged,surely she was enjoying herself, but not because of her mate, directly. She was thinking about Reginald. Her last squirrelboyfriend and how he used to touch her, gently at first, and warmed her up to take his huge, fuzzy member inside. He knew what he was doing and even though she felt pain, his warmth comforted her as she squeeled and snickered in a juxtaposed painful ecstacy. Todd finished quickly after she and I made eye contact, and scurried off leaving her tense and unsatisfied. As the mother Robin approached her nest, the girlsquirrel stood and like a barback falling down the stairs with two cases of Natty light, escaped the tree downward, clumsily. This is exactly what it's like being at Floyds. Graham makes some killer martinis too. read more
