Homemade Pie...stop, re-read that! I do not even care if everything on the menu was average (which it was not), do you understand how hard it is in today's society to find truly authentic homemade pies?! I ordered two slices of pie after our server explained to me that every pie in their glass cooler was made by her aunt daily; yes please! I ate a slice of Lemon Pie for starters, then I had the Mexican Skillet for my dinner and I took home a slice of Blueberry Pie for good measure. The standout to me was the Lemon. The skillet was amazing and so big I took home half for dinner the next day. The Blueberry was delicious as well, but just a notch under the Lemon. I cannot say enough great things about the restaurant and cannot wait to return and checklist some more pies!

This used to be a favorite restaurant of mine years ago. It still is now. I had not been to the restaurant since it changed to Country Kitchen (which was a long time ago!), but I recently stopped there twice. It was nice and cozy as always. The food portions were good-sized and the staff are courteous and friendly. Dining in was just as expected, and the take-out took quite of bit of time to prepare, but the food was hot and well done. Recommended for a small-town diner.

We've been going to Country Kitchen for years. I've never had a bad experience. We have special events here and the owners have always been accommodating. The portions are large and delicious. We're always treated like family.

Great place for a sit down meal.

The food we ordered seemed really plain with no flavor. I would go back but I would not order the same meal.

So I decided to try out the one in Taylorville to see if the same was true here. I was happy that the food came out much quicker here. They serve typical bar food. I ordered the blue cheese burger which was great but the fries were under cooked, and apparently under a heat lamp for a while, mushy and oily. My daughter ordered meatloaf and mashed potatoes that she didn't care for (but she's a bit fussy) but I ate them them the next day and thought they were pretty good. Three stars is the result of empty glasses on our table and no offer of a refill, we had to ask when the waitress accidentally wandered to close to our table, Cold limp fries, and even though the place was mostly empty they seated us booth to booth with a small group who had a SCREEEEEAAAAMMMMINNG child. I know that it's not their fault he was screaming but the place was empty so put us somewhere else. 6/3/2016. I just wanted to update my past review of Whits End - 48 in Taylorville. I'be been back several times now and they have completely redeemed themselves. The food came out quick. Even though very busy the staff was right on top of everything we needed. The food was excellent. Way to go Whit's end staff, keep up the good work. I'm adding a star for the improvements.

Decided to give Whit's End a try for lunch today. They had a buffet with a few breakfast items,…read morefried chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes, and salad bar. The fried chicken is fabulous!! Crispy and tastes very fresh. I tried the mashed potatoes and green beans. Both had a good flavor but needed salt. Salad bar had lots of nice options and everything looked and tasted fresh. With the salad bar, you can choose from the cake selections. DH had the lemon cake and I had chocolate with chocolate frosting. Both were very good, not quite homemade, but very good. We'd go back.
