Love how they share a kitchen so you get to pick your dining atmosphere while not having to choose which menu to use!

I may have gone into this with too high of expectations because of what I heard about the epiphany group and that may have been unfair of me. But that being said there were a lot of GREAT things about this restaurant so I'll start there. The restaurant itself it's so moody and vibey I LOVED it, was such a good place for a date night, our waiter was so attentive, helped with all of our questions and a very patient with us as we worked through the menu. 10/10 service! We got the dumpling and pork bun appetizer and both were AMAZING, seriously the pork bun?? I could have eaten 1000 of them. Next was the sushi, I got the Atlantic hand roll and another member of the table got the rainbow roll, both were very fresh and flavorful, highly recommend. Next was the entree, I got the pork belly ramen, as a huge ramen fanatic I was SO excited, especially following up our appetizers, the bar was set high and unfortunately I was so disappointed. The broth was not very good and everything so extremely salty, I couldn't even eat the mushrooms in the bowl because they soaked up so much of the broth and it was like a salt bomb in my mouth. The pork belly was cooked well and I did really enjoy that, but for a $20 bowl of ramen, it really fell flat for me. I also got the sweet heat cocktail, and it also wasn't for me, cocktails are so personal so it's not that I wouldn't recommend someone try it, it's just that I didn't hit for me, and that was the general consensus of the table. While I had a great night, I would probably try a different restaurant for Asian food before I came back to this one! read more

I've been coming here for years and my experience this time wasn't up to par compared to my past visits. The Ramen lacked a bit of spice and I ordered yellowtail, received tuna then was told the tuna was yellowtail. I eat a lot of sushi. Cool place! A fun atmosphere, loved the round table for a group of 8! Service was quick, but a bummer how they brought out each entree one by one at different times rather than all together. The Anju Dumplings with pork (steamed dumplings) were great. The Pork Steam Bun (Bao Bun) was alright. The shredded pork filling wasn't the usual type you'd find in a Bao Bun. And that is a hint of things to come. This is a Fusion place. They do things differently here. The Gucci Cali sushi roll was not that great. The sushi rice is not your typical kind. The overall flavor was not cohesive. It really tasted like a side of crab with a side of rice. The lemon puree on the side was insanely potent. Wow wow wow! What an unexpectedly wonderful meal! The Mega Roll was incredibly delicious! The eel and salmon with avocado and pickled veggies was one of the best sushi rolls I have had! This roll alone was worthy of a five-star experience! Highly recommended!! And the yellowfin tuna hand roll was very good as well. A little messy to eat... or maybe that was just me. Either way, I would recommend this roll as well! And my drink of choice was a Rhu-Barb Drag Race (see what they did there?) and it was a fantastic flavor-filled concoction that tempted me to order a second (although I refrained on this occasion since I'll be in BLM a couple more days)! Service is really good. The food is really really good. The sweet waitress even gave us a bonus angel food cake bite just for the long road trip we had today! The pork buns were so fluffy and well seasoned, the sushi was fresh, and the creme brûlée was delicious. The homemade marshmallows were the perfect texture and had a taste of honey. The cornbread wasn't too great, dry and too saucy, but for the salty cornbread lover, you might enjoy it. I just prefer sweet cornbread. I just love that the restaurant uses farm fresh ingredients. The ambience is great; although, my youngest and I both thought it felt cool inside. We found the staff to be friendly, helpful, and attentive. I shared the pork steamed buns with my husband and oldest daughter. They were delicious. My husband went out of his comfort zone and got the cold noodles. He did not like them at all. The waitress did try to subtly warn him saying they weren't for her, but a lot of people order them. My oldest daughter got the Farm-2-face rolls and found them kinda bland. I got the pork belly ramen...it was ok. I've had melt-in-your-mouth pork belly before and this was not it. The pork belly wasn't bad, it was just ok. My first piece was fatty and a bit chewy. The other pieces were better but that first bite turned me off to eating a lot more of it. My youngest order items from the epiphany menu, which seems to have better food. The fries were great. She doesn't like spice so didn't like the little bit of chili seasoning. She also got the fried rice (without kimchi...poor girl doesn't know what's she's missing). Wanted to love it more. We ordered a bit too much, the sushi rolls are big, but took home left overs. There wasn't anything special or flavorful with the rolls. They were basically each the same, green monster, tuna and spicy salmon. Wanted more variety. Didn't get the spice in spicy salmon, maybe because I took the jalapeño off but thought there would be spice elsewhere in the roll. I didn't love the Thai lime chicken wings because you have to dip them yourself in the sauce. Sauce was pretty good though and bought a bottle to take home. My favorite was the banchan starter. You need to eat at this restaurant if you're in Bloomington, the vibe, food, and service is amazing. The theme of the restaurant is small plates you can share which allows you to try a wide variety on the menu like Chinese dumplings and buns to Japanese sushi and Raman to Italian pizza to American donuts. Out of everything we ordered the tofu donuts were the best and I would come back just for those donuts. But the steamed pork buns, vegetables dumplings, margarita pizza, and mussels were excellent. Cool spot with good service and food. We were actually seated at the bottom restaurant Epiphany Farms but were able to order off both menus. Also, what a cool concept! Was definitely tempted to buy farm fresh eggs, meats, homemade sauces, etc. while waiting for a table at the front little shop section. Service was very attentive and gave good recs as to what to order and popular dishes. My favorite by far was the yuba. The sushi rice and the sweet tofu was super tasty and refreshing. Next, omg the bread and sexy butter... I could've just eaten that as my meal and been perfectly content walking out of there! Other dishes were good, though in full transparency as an Asian who grew up on the east coast, Asian cuisine is my jam and I have a LOT of comparison points / usually am looking for more authentic taste profiles and textures to traditional dishes. Overall, very good and if you don't mind more fusion, go here! BUT if you're like me and looking for more traditional, just a few things to keep in mind - the pork belly ramen is a clearer broth, not tonkotsu which I what I prefer. I also thought the pork belly could've been cooked longer; the fat didn't render as much as I usually like and was chewy for me. And any kind of sushi that's deep friend and has cream cheese (farm to face roll)... is not for me. Flavor was good! Just not my thing. Donuts were good if you have room; came out hot and were tasty. We LOVE to go to Anju Above any time we find ourselves in Bloomington... heck, we've even made a special trip for those buns! Even during the pandemic, the staff goes out of their way to welcome guests and create an exceptional (carry out) experience. On two occasions we ordered steam buns, yuba and cocktails to-go. Each time we were greeted at our car, offered a warm sip while we waited, and came home with amazing food. Came here for my homecoming dinner, had a reservation for 6:15. Upon arriving(early) we were not greeted or sat until 6:35. When our waitress came over she was slurring her words and was obviously plastered drunk. We ended up being at the restaurant for nearly 2 hours until we received all of our food. Bring a shovel because the food is to die for. Stopped here coming back from a long morning hiking at Starved Rock Park. One of the few places open in phase one of the reopening that had outdoor seating. Patio has 2 trees and plenty of umbrellas to stay cool. Devon was our waitress and she was lovely. All the servers stopped by our table at some point to cater to our needs. Now for the food. Vegetable steam buns were the BEST I've ever had. The cream cheese inside made it decadent and smooth. We shared the Bianco pizza with an egg which is awesome if you're a garlic fan. My friend ordered the farm to face. According to her, the farm roll was substantial. Dipped in tempura fried and with cream cheese which elevated the fish. Save room for the chocolate bomb! Rich, smooth chocolate with an exquisite mixberry sauce and fresh fruit. The food was cold so it was not good. The rice was not cooked properly. I was eating half cooked rice in my sushi which did not taste great. I ordered vegetable dumplings WHY did I get pork dumplings. So, top of the cold food and not properly cooked rice, I was given the wrong order. I cannot eat pork because of religious and personal reasons but it was included in my order that I did not order. I did not get to eat half of the food I ordered. The reason I gave a two star is because of the fried chicken. This is not the first that they have messed up my order or the food was not good at all (it's like they change the recipe each time they make the food). Crafted urban atmosphere, large creative menu, and attentive staff make this place a real treat despite Chicago prices. My first time here last year, got a pizza and two sushi rolls. From what my friends told me, only the Farm 2 Face sushi roll was worth a purchase. This was confirmed as the Farm 2 Face was super tasty. Sadly it was too good compared to our Spicy Salmon which lacked any real defined flavors I am used to at other sushi joints especially those with a salmon and/or spicy roll. Even with my extensive experience as a sushi addict, I'm uncertain what could be improved. Carrot, daikon, masago, jalapeno, and salmon is a unique roll, sounds very tasty, should be a winner! I'm guessing there's a ratio of fish to veggies and sauce that needs perfected. Thankfully the pizza was as the Farm 2 Face, an excellent chef's original that should give all the other pizza spots in the area a good scare except of course the legend that is Flingers. My buddy and I made it back a second trip just a few weeks ago to agog at the inflation. I couldn't escape without dropping fifty male deer for a small pizza, drink, and dessert. A bit insane on the budget for my small city sensibilities. It was all thoroughly enjoyable especially the amazing tofu donuts my buddy bad. Creme Brulèe was possibly only second to Fleming's Prime Steakhouse. This place wants to live in Chicago bad! Such a fun concept! Decided to spend date night here and had a really fun time. You can order different rounds of food and try whatever you are feeling. We split the pork steam buns and love them! The dough was so soft and fluffy and the meat was well flavored. We also split a Barbie and Hen pizza. We were feeling pretty content after but ended up ordering the cookie bites for dessert. I wanted to like Anju Above. It's a cool concept with a menu of many choices. The ambiance is cool, on the second floor above Epiphany Farms. Dress was casual. We checked in and were told there was a 30 minute wait. Not a big deal as we did not make reservations for our group of 4 for a Saturday night. We found seats at the bar and ordered drinks to kill some time until our table was ready. The bar staff was great. They had good knowledge of the many beers and offered tastes of drafts that I was not sure about. There were several empty tables and we went up the hostess desk to inquire about our wait. The hostess insisted that our table was not available yet and referred us back to the app to track our wait. Ten minutes later the tables were still open so we again went to the hostess who again looked at her screen and said not yet. Another 5 minutes passed and she finally invited us to the table that had been sitting vacant the whole time. Normally we would have stayed at the bar, but we were planning on some shareable food which is easier to do at a table rather than 4 across. Service was haphazard at best. Water was not refilled after the first glass. We would have ordered more drinks since we weren't driving but we didn't need them when we saw our server and then we couldn't get her attention; once we did she forgot. Our food arrived all together. We asked for it to be spaced out to enjoy it and not be rushed but that was not to be. That said, the wings, sushi and pizza were all good. We ordered mochi ice cream for dessert. No sooner than the plate was put down did a runner ask us if we wanted our desert boxed. We said we just got it and she seemed puzzled. There was no one waiting and it wasn't closing time so I'm not sure the rush. While the food was good and I wanted to like Anju Above, I'm probably not going back anytime soon. I came here last night for dinner on my way back from Chicago to St. Louis. While trying to figure out where to eat I found this restaurant on Yelp. The 10 minute drive from the interstate to arrive at Anju was well worth avoiding the regular chains. To start we ordered the Anju pork dumplings (5 for $5.25). Each dumpling was really flavorful and the shredded carrots was a great touch of crunchiness. I had the Pizza Bianca ($7.50) which had a light touch of the roasted garlic with just a touch of spiciness. This was a 10" thin crust pizza so it wasn't incredibly filling but had plenty of flavor. And finally, we ordered the sushi special which featured crab. In all, I thought 3 shared dishes between 2 hungry people was the perfect amount of food. The only issue i had while eating was just trying to hear my husband...who was just seated across from me! Between the group sitting next to us and the bar on the other side of our table the restaurant was incredibly loud. Would I come here again? Yes When?
