Came to this bar in Bloomington. Diggers is a basic place to get a drink. It for sure isn't anything special from the looks of things. Good place to meet up for some fun. They have some cheap prices and specials. A bar with the basics. It's about $6 for a cocktail. They have the usual kind of stuff. Classic brands. Jack, Jim, whatever. For sure not the place to get a martini or something fancy. There's also local beers if not wanting to get liquor. For a local bar it's okay to be honest. Stopped in for a beer traveling through town and this place showed up as a good dive bar. When I walked in I was surprised it was just a cool old bar-no dive at all. A lot to look at but the wall with album covers is very cool. Bartender was nice and chatted with us. Also offered us popcorn from popcorn machine near the bar. This bar was recommended to me by a dear friend. I was traveling for work and found myself in the Bloomington-Normal area with an empty evening and a mild thirst, so off to Diggers I went. I walked inside and this was instantly my kind of place. After playing the "may I see your 50+ year old I.D. game", I ordered my usual drink of Patron Silver. The staff was very nice and the price was terrific. However, what was poured from the bottle, was certainly not Patron Silver. Without making a direct accusation, I believe they may be slinging budget alcohol disguised in top-shelf bottles. Who can say for sure, but my tastebuds have delivered a guilty verdict. To make sure I wasn't losing my mind or taste, I ordered another Patron silver in the airport before my return trip to Florida and that one went down like business as usual. So I do believe I may have been ripped off by Digger's. Sadly, this wasn't the first time I was ripped off. Several years ago, I was visiting a similar establishment called "The Alley" in Sanford, FL. I was there to watch some live music. I'm a blues boy at heart and some people have even told me that "I might even have the blues myself". While I was eating my pork bbq, I witnessed the owner of the establishment mercilessly berating the musicians on stage about their pay, (which apparently included some free pork bbq of their own). I was at this venue to see the young blues guitar slinger Matthew Perry. To my surprise, Albert Castiglia was also playing in the band that night. Perhaps he was just passing through town and had the blues. As a patron of this establishment, I felt ripped off by this experience and therefore, I now have the double-blues. I really don't think that I should be the first one to review this place because I acknowledge that it is totally not my scene. At least, not yet... My group stopped here on a bar crawl once and within a few minutes, we had a new rule: once the first person in the group finishes their drink, (s)he can either get another or make everyone else finish theirs and leave within 5 minutes. I think that's a great rule and, as a result of that rule, I only spent about 10 minutes in here. All signs point to this being a local spot. I hope that someone who knows this place better will write a review because I admit that mine is based off of very limited experience. Although at least now people will find it on Yelp! read more

If I could, I'd give this bar more than five stars! BEST bar in Bloomington BY FAR. Last local dive bar. My favorite, and now that I moved, one of the only bars I'll return to. Went to ISU for 4 years, lived in the area a lil longer. Here's a few reasons whyyyy Diggers, Again! rocks!!! 1. 3.00 frosted mugs every single day of the week. Please and thank you. 2. Best group of regulars you'll ever come across. They become your family quick. 3. Jukebox available so you can put some money in and listen to what YOU want to. 4. No liquor over 5.00. End.of.story. 5. Free ping pong in the back. 6. .50 darts. 7. Peg, the owner, is the sweetest thing ever. 8. The bartenders care that you're having a good time. 9. A spacey dive bar in downtown Bloomington that was a bit of a disappointment. They don't serve food here and the place is too dark and cheap with the electricity. The televisions are way far and upon the ceiling making viewing unpleasant andvthe service was not of any quality. The bathrooms were filthy and this bar didn't even have a pool table or any game action. read more

Great local bar. Friendly staff with cheap draughts. The only downside about this bar is that they are cash only.

No more ping pong. Taken over by gambling machines. Ice cold draught beer. Good selection of beer on tap. Friendly patrons and bartender.

First off, if you are an amateur at ping pong... WARNING: THIS PLACE IS NOT FOR YOU!!!! There are some big money hustlers in this place! I went on a Thursday with some friends and we played the FREE ping pong in the back. Anyway, out of nowhere this guy came in, girl on his arm and all and wanted to join. So, we thought this guy was hammered because we couldn't understand what he was saying when he asked to play. We let him join and he completely missed the first two serves and his serves were WEAK. Next out of nowhere this guy is hitting ROCKET BALLS left and right. There's a crack on the table, probably from this guys THUNDEROUS hits. He hit one so fast i think he burned a few holes in the walls. So don't be alarmed by any holes in the place, they are probably just from the pig pong regulars. Second, if you don't know the rules, MAKE SURE YOU READ THEM before you play, otherwise you will repeatedly be reminded! After every point this guy would point to the rules on the wall and mumble so you couldn't understand, probably his strategy or again he may have been hammered drunk. Anyway he forgot to ask us to play for money before starting the hustle, so no harm no foul, but I think his girlfriend was way better looking than any money could buy... EXCELLENT PLACE!!!
