The Western has wonderful food. All the employees (cooks/bartenders/ waitresses) do an outstanding job. The ambiance is very cool !

What do you expect in a bar, has decent food, drinks are about average as you can get, they have gaming machines, pool tables, dart boards and tv sets everywhere. And of course your average drunks from the area. Nothing exciting in this place just your average run of the mill , hole in the wall joints. Go to run in Erin's. Much better establishment. read more

Came to this neighborhood bar and grill for a burger. I was very pleasantly surprised. The outside as well as the inside was very inviting. Modern, clean, and well decorated. The food was in more than average size portions. Delicious and average priced. The service was friendly and attentive. I went here with a buddy for dinner. I saw the angry cowboy burger and was intrigued by the spicy bbq sauce, ghost pepper cheese, and jalapeños. Was very impressed! I ordered the double patty and was barely able to bite into my burger it was so big. Probably one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. Highly recommend if you're a spicy food lover like me. We also ordered the pretzel bites as an appetizer, the portion was a little small for the two of us but they were very crisp and delicious! I would definitely return to this establishment. read more

Great neighborhood bar. We went in a Saturday night for dinner and the bar was very busy. We grabbed the last four seats. There are big screen TVs surrounding bar and a billiard table in the middle. One needs to be patient because the waitstaff is super busy.The good food priced very fairly is worth the wait. I had the shredded chicken sandwich with onion rings my companions got burgers. The chicken was covered with barbecue sauce and very tender the onion rings were tasty. The burgers looked amazing to me and I don't eat beef. The burgers were consumed completely. Great classic rock was playing and the staff was attentive refilling our drinks even though they were hopping busy. Hard to find but worth the search. Fun bar fair prices great food! read more

10 of us stopped in for our first time this afternoon. Loved the ambiance of this bar. Cute place! Our waitress was wonderful and on top of taking care of our entire group. Appetizers were great! Cheeseburgers were good but 2 people ordered ribeye sandwiches and they were chewy and tough. Not good at all. Ribeye sandwiches got a 1 star. Prices are good. Great food and nice bar but one waitress is always super rude. She has a terrible attitude and has lied in the past about the kitchen being closed so she doesn't have to serve you. Every time she is working I feel she goes out of her way to make costumers feel unwelcome. She's the reason I will not be going back which sucks because it's otherwise a great place. read more

I gotta say, this saddens me to leave this review. The food is good, beer is cold, slots are hot. The staff is NOT! Not sure who the brunette is who lives there slaving away but she is so ruuuude! If you don't play songs she likes on the JukeBox you PAID for she'll skip. And then she says it's because of the old people. They don't want to hear it during the afternoon. Wtf? Ok...so maybe post a sign or disable the PAYING jukebox. I spend at $500 on slots when I'm there and I tip well for the cold beers and prompt service . Western Tap, you're old customer base is dying out and if you don't treat the youngers better you'll be on unemployment! You ow me ONE SONG from TouchTunes. I've only been to Western Tap a handful of times so will plan to update my review at some point. What I can tell you now, though, is that it's darkhorse candidate for best bar for lunch. Even during the week. Like most peer bars, Western Tap has lacquered wood tables but unlike most peer bars, the tables at Western Tap aren't sticky. Whether you work in dress pants or overalls, your butt won't stick to the stools and your sleeves won't cling to the table. The burgers, as you've heard from other Yelpers, are great and the price is right. The service is solid, the fountain drinks are Pepsi, and the fries are great. Definitely check it out. read more

Neighborhood Bar the way it should be! On a busy night about half of the Bar is Regulers and they are very welcoming to people who are there for the first time. The staff is first class all the way! Bar style menu plus salads, Philly Steaks, Chicken Livers and more. Great Beer Garden with bags games. I feel so lucky to have to the Western Tap in my Neighborhood as it is the last of the Great Real Neighborhood Bars! read more

We stopped here on our way through Illinois to play a couple games of pool and grab a drink. We ended up getting some wings, which were awesome, and having 6 beers. When it was time for the bill we were pleasantly surprised at how inexpensive it was. The bar area was much larger than expected and even though it was pretty busy we never felt crammed. The cook was friendly, bartender very attentive, and overall atmosphere was right up our alley. read more

Western Tap is our favorite place in Bloomington-Normal for a great burger and drink. The huge outdoor patio area is awesome in the summer too. Located in a residential neighborhood parking can get a little tight but I've never had trouble finding a spot. They have live music on many weekends, never a cover charge that I've seen and always a daily drink special. Good atmosphere, good prices, great food, friendly staff and video gaming. A great neighborhood bar that is only availabe to the neighborhood itself. This place is way hidden, but it is a gem as far as neighborhood taverans go. I noticed that Bloomington-Normal has no dive bars that are readily available every where in Chicago area. This place I hear use to be a dive, but the owner put tons of money into it. Theburgers and shrimp are excellent and the beer prices are good. Plenty of TV screens,two pool tables, and like 8 poker machines make this Western themed place another cool Bloomington bar. An older crowd from the neighborhood roosts in this place anit is not filled with kids as the doewntown bars of Bloomington are. read more

I've only been here once, but I really like it. We came on a weekend evening, and it was packed. They only had ONE server for the whole place, so food and drinks came veeerrrry... slowly. You have to know a bartender to get a drink here. Don't expect the muscle head owner/manager to get you drink. He is only worried about his "juice" drink to bulk up for the girls. Does have good food and I won on the poker machine. read more

Definately a great burger and fries that would have gotten four stars by itself, but the price is great. The Western Burger is at least 2/3rd lbs of meat and bacon and tastes great. A little messy but it's on my list for top 3 burgers in town. The Daytona wings are the extra bonus why they get 5 stars from me. They are great. read more
