Sushi was decent ( Friday roll and Easter roll). The garden salad however was $6 and just a handful of lettuce

They advertise all you can eat sushi for 2 hours but our waiter never came back. 2 rolls each served to our table, no drink refills, and a $50 tab for 2. We won't be back.

My friends and I (we are big fans of sushi) decided to check out Kochi for lunch. We heard good things, and we were definitely not disappointed. The restaurant itself is pretty simple. Basically a bar for the employees to make meals, and then a lot of tables for customers. We were kindly seated, and my friends and I decided what sushi we wanted to eat. Unlike other all you can eat restaurants, Kochi does not have a buffet line. Instead, when you are seated, you are given a piece of paper and pen where you can mark what appetizers/sushi/meals you would like. The waiter/waitress will then collect your piece(s) of paper and put in your order. After about 10-15 minutes, you should have your fresh sushi placed in front of you for your enjoyment. After you finish, you can get another piece of paper to start the process over again. We really enjoyed Kochi, and I would go here again over Kobe.

    AYCE sushi!!!

Kochi serves above average Americanized sushi, which is perfectly tailored to the taste of a midwestern town like Bloomington, IL. We took advantage of their AYCE grand opening special of 2 for $30 to see how it compares to other local sushi joints like Kobe or Yumz. Selection - appetizer, sushi, and hibachi. There are food for people that want to play it safe or be a bit more adventurous. Soup/salad and appetizer selections were small but good, definitely try their chicken gyoza. Their edamame was cooked perfectly, not mushy. For sushi choices, it ranges from simple vegetable and cooked rolls to raw fish and rolls with more bold taste. They have a lot of fried rolls and rolls with cream cheese in them, I stayed away from those, just personally too Americanized for me. I didn't get a chance to try their hibachi either, from my experience it is something I don't normally see on an AYCE sushi menu. Quality/service - food were fresh and made with care. Our sushi platter were presented beautifully and everything was served in a timely manner, also attentive service. Sushi rice itself was good, made to proper taste and texture. The rice to ingredient ratio was also good, which for an AYCE place is rare for them to not stuff you full of rice. Their tea is complimentary if you ask for it, a big plus in my book!

I've been converted to a non-sushi fan because of all the Mid-West Americanized sushi with astonishing calories and too much going on in one roll. So I'm not impressed by their sushi. But their fish options are satisfactory. You get can squid, octopus, and eel here that other sushi restaurants in town don't have. I'm more a fan of all of their appetizers! Seaweed Salad, Aged Tofu, Fried Dumplings and Crab Ragoons all tasted pretty good. However, like other reviews said, they can improve their service. Being the last table at their restaurant at 8:30 pm on Saturday, we felt obligated to not order the 2nd time, although we were not full. That is because no server was present to be found, and they seemd to be closing the kitchen. We didn't even get a chance to try their dessert. But the price is really fair, $35 dinner for 2.

Our personal Sushi platter, and a plate of udon.
    Adam M.

Amazing place considering the surroundings. Sushi is good, loved the dumplings and the crab Rangoon, the udon was also very tasty. Service was a little slow, but I think that's true of almost all places of this nature. The all you can eat option is great, especially on the days they do 2 people for 30. Soups, appetizers, sushi, noodles, rice, and mochi all included!

My buddy and I sure are glad we came! Give this place a try & for sure we will be back again! We will be back again as drove 150 miles!

The place is very clean and contemporary. Very on brand for a place like this. It anchors the end of a strip mall, and is kind of tucked back out of the way, but it's a good sized space, and we dined on a Saturday night. It was full, but we only waited about 5 minutes for a booth. Our server did and great job of explaining how it all works, and even thought they don't bring you any food, she was right there for our drink refills, and was available if we had any questions about anything. So it's a fixed price for plates off the conveyor belt. $3.50/plate. This includes sushi, hot and cold appetizers and desserts. Just know that any plate, no matter what's on it, is $3.50. So whether you grab chucks of canned pineapple or a rainbow roll - it's $3.50. There's other items on the iPad you can order that have different price points, and if you miss something you wanted on the conveyor belt, and you don't want to wait for it to come back around, you can order it off the iPad and the cool little car will bring it right to your table. It's still $3.50 too. When you're done with your plates, you deposit them into a slot at the end of the table and it counts it and adds it to your bill on the iPad. Pretty easy. Every 12 plates your deposit allows you to play a 50/50 game on the iPad. We got to 12, but didn't win... which is fine. Sooooooo..... how about the food?!? Strip mall sushi is hit and miss. Especially in Chicago and surrounding burbs. There are some really great sushi places that are very unassuming. And there are others that are a "one and done". We've never had any other sushi in Bloomington/Normal, so we don't have much to compare this to. It was all very good. Often times at "gimmicky" places like this, you don't get the highest quality product because they are relying on the novelty to keep you coming back. Good news though, because the sushi at Kobe Revolving really does stand on its own. It's not the best sushi I've ever had, but it's very good - which is more than I expected when we walked in.

But that being said there were a lot of GREAT things about this restaurant so I'll start there. The restaurant itself it's so moody and vibey I LOVED it, was such a good place for a date night, our waiter was so attentive, helped with all of our questions and a very patient with us as we worked through the menu. 10/10 service! We got the dumpling and pork bun appetizer and both were AMAZING, seriously the pork bun?? I could have eaten 1000 of them. Next was the sushi, I got the Atlantic hand roll and another member of the table got the rainbow roll, both were very fresh and flavorful, highly recommend. Next was the entree, I got the pork belly ramen, as a huge ramen fanatic I was SO excited, especially following up our appetizers, the bar was set high and unfortunately I was so disappointed. The broth was not very good and everything so extremely salty, I couldn't even eat the mushrooms in the bowl because they soaked up so much of the broth and it was like a salt bomb in my mouth. The pork belly was cooked well and I did really enjoy that, but for a $20 bowl of ramen, it really fell flat for me. I also got the sweet heat cocktail, and it also wasn't for me, cocktails are so personal so it's not that I wouldn't recommend someone try it, it's just that I didn't hit for me, and that was the general consensus of the table. While I had a great night, I would probably try a different restaurant for Asian food before I came back to this one!

First it was the Chicago-style Italian beef with giardineira, then the spicy beef birria style, then my surprise fave, the Mega City bowl with chicken curry, peanuts and 3 potsticker dumplings on top! The service is fast and efficient in a venue (the back half of the VFW) that clearly lacks ambiance. The prices are admittedly a bit steep (except for domestics at the back bar) but you will be blown away by the flavors and you certainly won't walk away hungry. My only other advice....try not to ruin the shirt you have on when you go, in fact you might care to bring or fashion a bib, cuz most of these flavors will leave permanent stains!

Our entrees included Pork Coppa Ramen- which was a solid dish- strong beef broth flavor and the sambal (chili sauce) -a few cents extra- added a good depth of flavor. The fish bowl- tuna, salmon- with rice, pickled veggies, and gim (Korean seaweed) was tasty. It was even tasty the next day cold out of the fridge.
