Picked up the order and the restaurant and ambiance seemed to be the same, compared to my last visit. The staff were friendly. When I got home, I noticed food missing. Called them and they said to come get it. Bruh. The item cost less then the gas it would take to drive there and back. Ugh. Refund me. Food was cold in spots. Seemed like a little microwave action. It was ok. Not as good as it used to be. My "spicy" was mild, at best. Decent food, would have really liked it spicy. Moral of the story.... meh. Really love this place. Its my go to lunch spot. I used to only get Butter Chicken until the staff started making fun of me playfully and I have tried almost everything on the menu since! I've loved everything I've tried and the few times I've had something inconsistent with my last visit I told them about it and they corrected it for my next visit! They also just started renovating and while I miss the old dining rooms bright colors, I do love the more modern interior design. Highly recommended. read more

A pleasant surprise, my friend treated me to lunch downtown sharing one of his favorites. I've no idea how I'd never been, but will be sure to frequent more often. The menu selections were vast; with vegetarian, lamb, chicken and shrimp dishes. I chose the Chicken Biryani and swapped plates to try my friend's Tikka Masala. Each bite was delectable, mild on the spice, though you can choose the level of heat that suits you. The buttery garlic naan perfectly accented the meal. I was absolutely stuffed and still had enough for two meals to take home. Beautiful atmosphere and music made for the perfect lunch outing. read more

I've had Indian food in several different states throughout the country, this is hands-down the best I've had. The food speaks for itself. Tandoori chicken has never been a must-have on my list but the amount of flavor is incredible at India Palace. The service is always wonderful. The staff are very attentive and personable. It seems they do a lot of deliveries but my family and I enjoy sitting and dining. read more

NEW OWNERS.... I have been eating here for many years. The new owners took over a few months ago. That's why the menu has changed. Speaking of menus they only have a QR code to their menu online. I personally found it awkward to use and would prefer a print paper menu. The food was very good. We had chai tea, naan, matter paneer and chicken do piaza curry. $50.75 with tip for lunch. I don't think the prices are different between lunch and dinner and they are not set up for Buffet. Hopefully, one day they will be serving buffet. read more

This food is amazing! My husband and I had the butter chicken, the tandoori chicken, and some palak paneer (apologies if I've misspelled) and it was wonderful. The portions are big enough that we probably only needed two of the three dishes, but it was so hard to choose! The service was quick and friendly, and the place itself is really lovely. There was no one else dining in but they did have several takeout orders. Oh, and the mango lassi was sweet and creamy and incredible. Dined here on 10/4/22 and while the food was great, we were shocked by the $80 tab we received. Their excuse was that "the menu hasn't been updated" and we refused to pay it. They did agree to reduce the tab to $55 for us, but wow what a crazy and awkward situation. What seemed to be an honest mistake is clearly not since previous people here on Yelp have reported this behavior. Also, what's worse is the fact that their online prices are also different from the menu and the tab they gave. Really sad that I have to give a bad review because the food was good, but the deception is why I will never return. read more

I have eaten in 3 of the 4 primary Indian food restaurants now. I was excited but a little leery about trying this place out because no one ever seems to be eating there. I'm told they do a really good Grubhub or Doordash business. But some of the staff pass by me on a regular basis and are so kind and inviting that I came in today. The place is very clean and so were the restrooms. First, they now offer a lunch menu like another one close by. We could select items from either the night-time menu or from the 2 lunch menus: Non vegetarian and vegetarian. We chose non vegetarian lunch. Also their price was about the same as the competition. Here though, this menu has a choice of 2 meat dishes on the non veg menu whereas the competitor offers only 1 meat dish and it is preset by the day with no choices. Here we could choose from 4 meat menu items off the night-time menu. That means the value of this lunch menu is superb. It includes an additional meat dish, naan (garlic or plain) chai tea, along with the vegetable pakora, daal, rice, and choice of salad or raita along with roti and tamarind sauce and green chutney-both of which were excellent. So there were many items included in the price that other places don't. The food also came with additional spice blend. I had ordered the heat index at medium level. I will go higher next time, but I did put the lovely hotter spice paste on everything. I had the lamb curry and the chicken Tika Masala as my two. I sampled my chums butter chicken. There was sufficient meat in all of the dishes. They even have a Rogen Josh lamb dish. All of the food was very well prepared and tasty. And it came quickly. Disappointing. We just ordered food to go, got home to see the papadam wafers are literally a pile of crumbs. One dish is so spicy it's almost inedible, even though we ordered MILD. Second dish is so overly salted it's awful. It tastes like the cook didn't know what seasoning/spices to use, so they just poured a bunch of salt on this dish. It's our first time ordering from here, and definitely the last time. They ought to be ashamed of themselves, taking customer's hard earned money for food this bad. read more

We ordered Uber eats from India palace, This is by far the best real Indian food, I have ever tasted! I ordered the butter chicken and at most places the butter chicken is orange and it's originally not supposed to be orange, but let me just say I forget the name of the pepper that's in the dish but most places don't add these peppers. Which really makes the dish come together!There's a spot that my boyfriend and I used to go to back home in Tampa Florida that made the dish the exact way just like the butter chicken at India palace. But they ended up closing for good. After that the other places weren't the best! But was still good! I craved this dish for so long!! And I'm so happy I found a place in Salem that makes true real Indian food! I definitely will be returning!!! The service was fast and I didn't have to wait two hours for my Indian food to be delivered and it was hot and ready to eat!!! Definitely worth 10 stars but there's on an option for five! We've tried most Indian restaurants in Salem but still come back to India Palace. By far, our fave.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in town. I always have gotten takeout. The Butter Chicken and chicken marsala is perfect.

As a college student at willamette just about a half mile from the restaurant, sometimes the dining hall is a bit too crowded or basically inedible. I will order the chicken tikka masala and naan off of DoorDash and India palace has never failed to save me from the horrors that would await in the dining hall. read more
