I just got done dropping off the rental SUV my crew and me used for the last 2 weeks in Sacramento and now I'm have some time off. I decided to drive up to the Tahoe area for some down time and was passing through Placerville on my way up the 50. In N Out seemed like good stop for some lunch. This Placerville location is super easy on and off the freeway. Just take the Forni Road exit, keep right and it's right there. Easy back on the freeway too. I pull in and it's thankfully not too crowded. I go inside cause I don't wanna eat in my car. Inside looks just like every other In N Out, neat and clean. I get to the order taker all smiley, I decide to go for a 3 X 3 Animal style extra grilled onions. That's 3 patties of meat and 3 pieces of cheese. I'll skip the fries this time and have just water to drink. I wait a bit, I guess they're busy with the drive thru orders. My order is up! Wow, they really melted the cheese all over those 3 patties! I gotta open wide to fit that fat burger in my mouth. Yes, that meaty goodness fills my senses and I get this all happy feeling coming down all over me! I have eaten at different locations and still I have the same feeling about the food It is just ok A bit over hyped for me . I don't know if it's because at the time of writing this I am in a vehicle driven by a person who has no real taste in music or the fact last time eating at a different location it was crowded with teenagers. Service at all the locations which is about six now is fast and the people are friendly. the burgers do seem a little taster with out cheese to me the fry are on the same level as any other fast food fry So the end result is not bad and outstanding Just right in the middle. read more

Absolutely scrumptious!!! I got the 3 by 3 animal style with grilled onions only and it's TOTALLY my go to!!! If the fries look a little strange it's because I have a habit where their cheese fries, take 2 to 3 of their ketchup's, salt, then I flip it upside down, close it, and shake it up and eat it with fries. Sounds gross to some, but to me? The perfecttttt cheesy ketchup goodness! The service is profoundly good!!! They are always so happy and I love the happiness that spreads the energy kind of similar to Dutch bros! You can tell they love their job and it shows and we love that! My family and I stopped in at this In n Out location on Thursday while driving through to our camping location. The inside was pretty busy, but it was clean and staff were friendly. We ordered 3 meals and my burger and fries were both cooked better than most of the locations I've been to. I usually order a Double Double with grilled onions and added mustard. The fries were hot and crispy and the burger had the perfect amount of ratio of veggies and meat/cheese. I still think that In n Out is one of the cheapest fast food places - plus you can't beat the quality of the food. We will definitely be back next time we are passing through! read more

This place is so inconsistent, sometimes it's good, sometimes it's really bad. The other day they messed up our order so bad, we ended up throwing it away. The french fries were not cooked (like hard raw) the "grilled" onions were also raw. The modification we made to each burger was wrong. We tried to eat one of the burgers and found a bone inside, which was so off-putting the whole meal was ruined. They pride themselves on being open late night, but if you show up late, this is the kind of food you get. Will not be back, yuck! read more

This In N Out has been one of my favorites in the greater Sacramento area since I was a teenager. I stopped by today after hiking Sly Park, and ordered a double double animal style (I was so hungry I actually forgot to ask for extra tomatoes) and an animal fry with extra grilled onions and an extra sauce packet on the side. I wanted a Neapolitan shake, but good thing I didn't order one, since I was barely able to finish the burger and fries. All of the staff were friendly and fast. The food was as bomb as I expected it to be-- hot, fresh, and delicious. The drive through line moved relatively quickly. I also ended up going inside to use the restroom, and noticed that everything looked clean and well stocked. I always seem to have great experiences at this location, and will keep coming back whenever I'm in the area. My husband and I were craaavinnggg In-N-Out the other day. Now that we live in the foothills, we're thankful that there's a location in Placerville as it's the closest city that has one. We also hadn't sat down to eat inside an In-N-Out in years as we've always gotten the food to go. The line was short when we arrived and the workers were very efficient with taking orders. We were able to order in less than 5 minutes of waiting. In about 10 min or so, our food was ready! And honestly, if we aren't in a rush to go anywhere, I would totally sit down and eat again. There's something about enjoying In-N-Out in the nostalgic atmosphere of the restaurant that makes the food taste even better (and of course the food is extra fresh). Our burgers were juicy and the fries were the perfect texture. If you like chilies, I highly recommend them for the burger, plus they are free. We've only ever gotten animal fries (they're the best kind, if you go to In-N-Out and don't get animal fries, what are you doing?). It wasn't too loud inside even though there were quite a few people. We came on a Saturday as well, and it was a beautiful day outside, so most people were eating at the outdoor tables. The workers were attentive about cleaning tables and sweeping the floor after each party left, and I was pleased with my experience. It looks like it's been around 13 and a half years since I last reviewed this In-N-Out. We've stopped several times since then, as it's convenient and it's relatively easy to leave US 50 and get back on. My consistent experience is that there's always a big line up of cars, and it's usually easier to park the car and order at the counter. That way is also a good excuse for a bio-break. My last stop was Friday, which found me driving all the way down to Albany for a dental appointment and then heading all the way back. Gayle thinks I'm crazy to keep my same dentist (since 1992) even after moving to Nevada 3 years ago. And after this trip, I think it may be time to take up with her Dentist who she likes. It was a good driving window as Saturday weather was considerably more challenging. I headed back home at about 1:30 with nothing but a can of sparking water and a most excellent Arizmendi chocolate chip cookie. And by the time I arrived in Placerville, it was time for a single cheeseburger, fries, and a lemonade for the road. Food quality and service was it's usual consistency and efficiency. This In-N-Out is right off Highway 50 off Forni Drive in Placerville, CA. Ok, so it doesn't have the trademark criss cross palm trees. It does however live up to the In-N-Out quality. They serve up tasty burgers, milkshakes, and those luv 'em or leave 'em fresh fried fries. The drive thru line always looks super long but surprisingly moves pretty darn quick, quicker than the Folsom location which is the next closest location headed towards Sacramento. I've ordered from here several times throughout the years since they opened shop. I have no complaints. Simple deliciousness... consistent quality... friendly service... cheap eats. FYI this place is in El Dorado County. They have different COVID protocols than most other counties. Don't be surprised if staff are not wresting masks.
