Looks like the store did it themselves. I have a jacket that needs some zipper work and another pair of dress pants for work (that I might need sometime in 2022 at this point) so I'll be come here for both of those. The staff is generally fine, although there is one woman who tends to be curt. Most recently, I went and the 3 staff started laughing when I came out of the fitting room. They asked if I spoke Spanish. When I replied no, they proceeded to speak in Spanish. It was strange to ask and the rest of the interaction was uncomfortable. When I asked for clarity on a price the attitude I got back was enough to walk away. $60 for any dress that has a lining; even if it's a simple cotton sundress. She could have explained it without being on her phone and sounding so condescending.

He responded, "Okay, then don't be my guest," and rudely told me to leave. I was just trying to understand why the prices went up and he basically kick me out of his store. I have been in there when people are told what they do not want to hear and complain the customer service is bad. They are just really blunt. 2) This kind of bleeds into the first point but the unfortunate reality is just because you spent a lot of money on a dress/clothing it does not make it quality. We want to think that as a consumer but at the end of the day a lot of bridesmaid dresses/ dresses from department stores for weddings are made super cheap and they let you know it because the quality of the garment is what gives them space to work. 3) It looks kind of messy in there and you NEED TO KEEP YOUR TICKET. A lot of us are used to modern computers but they are not functioning like that, this is a local, elder owned business. This is legitimately like going to a business in 1965, it has charm but you need to sort of feed into that and do it their way. 4) Give them time. The modern world is rush rush rush, but like I said this place is old school. I have personally bought multiple dresses here, some cheap, some very expensive. I never had a problem with the fit or service. This is not to say they are perfect but I think if you want a no frills alteration process I love them. Plus, Yvonne is hilarious if that's your humor.

As a new attorney back in the day, I took a lot of suits to Dominico...and although he was definitely more expensive than your average dry cleaners alterations lady (usually ladies), his work was SPECTACULAR. Seriously. The first item I took him was a wool gabardine coat (Perry Ellis--vintage)...with shoulders way too big. (Got it at a charity shop...for about $30 in the city.,.) He made that coat look like a million bucks. Also, did a bunch of alterations on more expensive, but off-the-rack wool/cashmere suits. Again--perfect fit. Once I took him a 100%, tailored suit I got at TARGET...I loved the lines, and he made it look like an Armani suit. He said it had good bones--otherwise he'd tell me that it "wasn't worth it." I have used Nelson a few times. I think Nelson might have worked with Dominico Spoleti (like as an apprentice). Anyway--Nelson has the same skill set...and most importantly, the SAME DEDICATION to QUALITY, custom tailoring He knows what he is doing. You are not going to necessarily get your clothes back the next day..but if you bring in an expensive suit or piece or dress--and explain, he will tailor it beautifully. TOP QUALITY REAL TAILOR--not your run-of-mill alterations shop at a dry cleaners. And--yes, they are more expensive..but WORTH IT if you have a quality piece of clothing. As a girl who loves to secondhand and vintage shop, getting them altered makes the biggest difference. On my first trip here about a year ago I brought in a few items and left with a perfectly fitting pair of linen trousers (second hand find that were a little too big) and another pair of pants that also needed to be taken in. It was perfect! On this last visit I brought in a few items that needed tweaks and I worked with Jimmy. He helped me bring all 3 pieces to life and I can't wait to pick them up. I love that they don't pressure you to go through with an alteration if it's not what you imagined or maybe expensive. The space is also beautiful and calm and here's plenty of room to move around. Highly recommend!

He took great care to ensure all tailoring needs were met and even was able to do tapering to my trousers from the knee down only (last time I asked a tailor for this they ended up tapering the thigh too and the garment no longer fit - not here!).
