I was super excited to be one of the first people in the restaurant on opening night! Living just down the street and watching this building transform, following it on instagram and seeing their progress, all helped build up to what ended up being a great experience. My boyfriend and I were served champagne while we waited in the main bar area. We had the bruschetta and prosciutto- which was mind blowing! Paired with the focaccia and bacon fat butter spread- it was amazing! I think about that bacon fat butter all the time and wish I knew how to make it. Next we had the tagliatelle and girasoli. The tagliatelle was underwhelming and the boar tasted a little dry for my preference. That was most likely our least favorite dish. The girasoli was surprisingly tasty, which I was not expecting as it is a vegan/vegetarian dish with pine nuts. To top it all off we had the grilled ribeye paired with a wine and an old fashioned from the bar! I am glad that Alki finally has a fine dining experience that won't turn over as quickly as most of the bars on the beach. Hopefully this place stays around for a while- can't wait to see what they put on their next menu rotation! read more

Il Nido is our favorite special occasion restaurant, and even sometimes for no special occasion, but simply because I was able to snag a reservation. The food here is consistently excellent, in particular their seasonal focaccia and burrata. The pastas are all handmade and amazing. Always try their specials! But what really makes Il Nido special is the service and ambience. We have been here quite a few times, and they have clearly registered who we are; during our most recent visit, I had an NA cocktail list waiting for me when I was seated (I don't drink, and they must have noted it after our last visit/reservation). That sort of personalized service just puts them over the top for me. read more

Highly recommend! One of the best dinners we have had in a long time, in a very nice, homey space

Fantastic meal! It's rare to go to a restaurant and have everything be perfect but it is at Il nido! I don't know where to start, but we ordered the special pizza for the day, 3 pastas (squid ink pasta, bucatini and pork ragu), corona beans with salsa verde and tiramisu. Everything tasted amazing, including our drinks! We both got the foreign correspondent which I highly recommend. Besides the food, the staff and service is exceptional. I had a mishap with my reservation and they were very accommodating. Everyone was friendly. This is not your typical service, you feel as if you have known the staff for years. Lastly, the ambience is amazing which is hard to come by in Seattle. It is very romantic and unique as it's in a log cabin. If you are looking to impress or just want an amazing meal from start to finish, Il Nidos the place to go. My husband and I can't wait to come back and know that this is going to be in our rotation of regular dining spots. read more

First, we give the service 5/5; they are phenomenal! From the moment we checked in with the host, we were treated like kings and queens. They refer to you by name, the brought us champagne to enjoy while we waited for our table, offered us a seat, and just made sure that we were taken care of. Our waitress was super knowledgeable about the menu and gave suggestions for vegetarian-friendly options which I appreciated! Pros: - Knowledgeable, friendly staff - Chic decor and feel -Amazing focaccia- order it and thank me later! -Great craft cocktails that were delicious -Delicious homemade sauces -Fun, unique place in West Seattle Cons: -Gluten-free options not available -They say that the portions are family-style, as in big enough to share, but this isn't the case. I don't know what person would get 4 fava bean pods on a plate and call that a family-style portion to share; it's individual portions. - Small bar and waiting area - Skip the rhubarb tortata- it was lacking flavor My husband and I will be back to try different menu items! read more

My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of securing a reservation here on their first week of business. Everything was wonderful from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. We were greeted with prosecco at our table and our server Amber was very friendly and accommodating. The space was lovely and some of the standout dishes were the boar ragu and the rigatoni nero with octopus. Mike Easton has shown he is still the top pasta chef around as this will now be my go to pasta spot along with Il Corvo. read more

Delicious but very pricey, it was $300+ for 2 people main course, dessert and 3 glasses of wine each (I don't recall if we had appetizers.) The service is excellent and a beautiful ambiance. I cannot believe how difficult it was to get reservations here... I literally had to check back almost every day to see if anyone had cancelled and it still took a couple weeks. In the end we had a great experience and the food was delicious, but definitely on the pricier side for West Seattle. That said, given how busy this place is, I think there is plenty of demand for a littler pricier dining in West Seattle. I mean, how many more pizza places do we need? We ordered a bottle of wine, two drinks, two pastas, burrata & 24 month prosciutto, focaccia, lamb, and tiramisu, and that was plenty and bit overkill for the two of us. But if you wait for that long to try a place, you might as well try as much as you can. I think our bill ended up being $260 including tip, so I would put it on the special occasion list or a couple times a year list. There are some lower priced Italian options in West Seattle that offer some pretty decent handmade pasta as well, but this place seemed like a level above and the service was really good. Overall, will definitely be back to try it out again once things have died down a bit and reservations are easier. Note- there is a bar which I assume is walk-up and you can order off their main menu, but can't confirm. There were a limited number of seats at the bar, maybe 8-10 read more

Such a delicious menu, the homemade pasta was to die for! Our server was so attentive and had amazing recommendations, we enjoyed a lovely glass of Merlot thanks to her. We ordered the focaccia and the prosciutto and burrata appetizers which were both 10/10. The inside of this restaurant is so adorable, we were out in the patio and it was missing the ambiance of inside (a colder day in February, no music), but hopefully we can return again soon! read more

We were very disappointed. We were big fans of Il Corvo so we were looking forward to Il Nido. We ordered the burrata and prosciutto and the kale salad. The salad was fine but pretty ordinary but the prosciutto arrived without burrata. The wait staff promptly fixed the omission but it made us wonder who was in the kitchen. We followed with two pastas, both of which were undistinguished and so salty we could not finish either. Given that the restaurant is known for its pasta we must again believe that there is no discipline in the kitchen. Others in our party ordered the pork chop (which was delicious) and a steak (which looked good). Think twice before spending a lot of effort trying to secure a reservation. read more

When I heard that Il nido's sister restaurant was il corvo, I knew I had to come check this place out! Definitely lived up to its expectation! The pizza was pretty good and cheesy. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the chicken just melts in your mouth! The only thing about it was the food was pricey for the portions you are getting in my opinion. Definitely a great place to check out if you miss il corvo! read more

Purely based on food 3 but giving it a 2. The salad was good but it was basically the chicories (1 type of vegetable) with 1 soft boiled egg, dressing and lots of parm cheese. Very flavorful but that was just it. Really disappointed in the quality of the salad where the dressing and cheese is very overpowering the 1 veggie. Had the pasta... sorry can't remember the name. It was like 3 weeks ago. But that sums it up, if I can't remember the pasta then it says something. Il Corvo is better. Ambience: very cozy, warm and awesome. Servers were really nice. read more

Ideal for a special date night Reservations are a must and worth the wait! Our family made reservations weeks ahead, so it was highly anticipated. The staff was very welcoming, and made us very comfortable. They explained the menu and specialities it all sounded delicious. We chose a variety of dishes to share. Our anticipation was truly rewarded with a memorable meal. Every bite was scrumptious from the antipasto, to the fresh salads, pastas and steak and oh my the desserts. The best! Love west Seattle and Il Nido fits in perfectly! It looks and feels like a cozy log cabin in the woods. I had been flying to Seattle every week for September and eagerly awaiting the re-opening so I could enjoy the atmosphere and I was overjoyed. Cameron, the host is just lovely; very accommodating, returns voice messages promptly, and goes out of his way to make you feel welcome. They do an excellent job of taking precautions by taking your temp when you enter, at your table they provide a tray where you can stow your mask and that also provide hand sanitizer. Further social distancing measures are made by spacing tables apart and placing lace sheers between each table and coupled with the soft jazz playing in the background makes for a romantic date. As soon as I was seated, I was greeted by the lovely Jason H. and offered a complimentary pour of rose champagne. After enjoying the amuse bouche, I enjoyed the cozze e cavolfiore which was accompanied by tomato focaccia and semolina sticks, followed by pappardelle al Mais dolce, tonno e peperoni, another complimentary pour of an Italian wine that paired perfectly with the albacore tuna (I had to buy the bottle!), and finished off with torta al cioccolato. Every bite was deliciously savored. read more

Fabulous food, spectacular ambiance (yes-even during Covid), and terrific service from Ryan marked our dinner on November 7th. Il Nido did everything right. We were nervous to venture back into the world of in person dining again but we felt confident after reading several articles that this restaurant was committed to staff and patron safety. They made the brave decision to lean in to in person fine dining --not try to do takeout--and redesign their restaurant experience to be smaller and more intimate to allow the space necessary for dinners to feel safe to relax and enjoy a fantastic meal. I'm extremely grateful that they made this investment of time and effort and that my wife and I were able to enjoy it prior to indoor dining being halted again in WA state. I, for one, hope that our cases plummet and we are able to return soon! Please consider Il Nido when you get chance. It is a special place that is committed to creating a inviting environment in which to enjoy an evening with those you love. It will remain in our memories as a very special birthday celebration. Glad we decided to celebrate a month early while they were still open and had availability. Good luck Il Nido. Hang in there. We are waiting for your resurgence! Let's all speed that time forward by washing our hands, maintaining appropriate distance and wearing our masks. I hope to be able to return soon. read more

Well worth the wait for a reservation! We had to stay up till 12 AM the week before in order reserve the day we wanted. The tables fly fast here so you have to be quick! Go for the appetizers; stay for the pasta, then leave. First 2 courses were amazing: Bruschetta was rich, silky with a crunch and delicious! The special pasta with a luxurious truffle butter and oil was great - topped with a parm crisp it was one great bite after another. Both dishes were shareable and filling. The main courses of rabbit with carrots and scallops were just ok. The rabbit was good, nothing special. The scallops were fine - I wouldn't have grilled them, like they did, but ok... meh. The worst part was the dessert!!! The tiramisu was a mess; oddly enough it had NO flavor - we sent it back after 2 bites. The server took off the dessert and gave us a discount which was nice. All in all, I'd give it 3.5, but I rounded up since everything was handled very professionally. read more

This is a wonderful restaurant if you are a foodie. It's expensive for West Seattle, but worth it. You'll be glad you went here. The food is interesting and really well prepared, perfectly so. We eat here twice a month and sometimes more often. We take friends there. It's our go to restaurant and are thrilled it's so close to where we live. I've had one so-so meal there and the rest is just joyful. The pasta is incredible. We don't eat meat so I can't speak to that. They have a seafood or poultry alternative to red mean which I appreciate. They have a kale salad that is incredible-actually there are two versions and they are both good, same with a radicchio mix salad. The polenta is stunning and I get it to take home. They ask about allergies and preferences. They try to accommodate gluten free or milk free people. They do a fabulous job with wines, let you taste them to make sure you like it. They have knowledgeable folks who recommend wines to pair. My only criticism is that they don't have consistently good desserts. they do interesting deserts and many of them just don't work for us. The hostess is friendly and attentive. The staff are available but not ever present hovering. I've seen them get too busy but mostly that isn't so. I had to read the negative reviews because I can't imagine why anyone would say negative things about this restaurant. The reviews are completely opposite of my experience there. And yeah, beach wear isn't really appropriate there-it's not McDonalds or a taco place. read more

We had such a wonderful time at il nido and would recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy and romantic dinner or celebratory meal. My partner and I had been looking forward to eating here for months (they are closed on Sunday and Monday, so we had to wait for a day that worked with our schedules) and it did not disappoint. Maître d' Georgia, as well as servers Angelo and Sean, all gave exceptional service, elevating the accessible but nuanced menu even further. This restaurant is exceptionally clean, uses high quality ingredients, and clearly invests their time in making sure that their team is knowledgable and helpful. We're already looking forward to returning! read more

Excellent customer service, scrumptious food and damn good drinks. Jermaine, our bartender was awesome! Tried getting reservations, but they were booked 1 month out, so we gave bar seating a try. This was our family's second time eating at Il Nido 11/30/2021. I want to preface that we had an AMAZING experience the first time we ate here 7/16/2021. They were able to fit in a family of 6 on short notice, our waiter was friendly and attentive, the food was the best Italian food since we could remember, the environment was perfect, and the menu options were plentiful. Fast forward to our second visit for my fiancé's, fiancé's father, and my own birthday. The service - as soon as the waiter greeted us and began taking drink orders we were met with a somewhat impatient demeanor. Granted my fiancés father is 80 years old and a bit slow, but I expected more based on the level of friendly service we previously received. We felt like a burden on the waiter, which is never a good feeling while at a $$$ celebration dinner. The food - we ordered the exact same dishes (at least what was still on the menu) consisting of the: assorted olives, focaccia bread, prosciutto and burrata, three gnocchi's (was our favorite), wild boar pasta (very forgettable) and two double cut bone in ribeye's. We would have liked to order additional pastas and steaks but they were out or did not have additional options on the menu (like the squid ink pasta). The bad experience - the food was okay this time around, but the major issue was gnocchi. I'm attaching two photos, the first gnocchi is a delicate tomato sauce with basil. This was the gnocchi dish we experienced the first time and it was amazing. We went to Italy this summer and did not find anything comparable to it. The second is a Chef Boyardee tasting gnocchi with equal parts cheap mozzarella cheese to acidic tomato sauce. Absolutely horrible... I have no idea what happened or how a pasta dish could change so drastically for the worse. I truly don't understand how a restaurant with Il Nido's reputation could serve it. To top it off they served us candles on plastic birds to blow out for our birthday.. I mean come on, Red Robin to the Met Grille provides some birthday desert for the table. I will be back in the distant future. Perhaps when the chef's new restaurant in Eastern Washington is done, he'll come back and bring Il Nido back up to par. read more

Great ambiance walking into this place. The host was incredibly welcoming (and handsome). We sat down and the server promptly greeted us to ask about drinks (so important). He ended up being very helpful in selecting a reasonably priced bottle of wine that paired very well with our entire meal, which is not an easy task. The burrata and prosciutto to start was next-level amazing. Wow. It seemed a bit pricey, but after experiencing it, it all made sense and was totally worth it. As expected, the pasta was on point and excellent. We didn't know if we should get the regular sized bistecca or the portion for 2. The regular size was the perfect amount. The steak was cooked perfectly and quality meat. It's a personal preference that I wish it would have had a more pronounced and charred crust. But nice flavors coming through nonetheless. For everything that we got and the quality of this food experience, I am very impressed with how they keep this at such a relatively reasonable price point (just like Il Corvo, where they could obviously charge more if they wanted to). Well done. Assuming I can get another reservation, I will be coming back. read more
