Messina Pasta Flight
Kiran K.

Messina is one of those places where the experience really carries the night, in the best way. We ordered the pasta flight (which is such a fun concept) with cacio e pepe, pesto, and spicy vodka. Ranking them honestly: the cacio e pepe was the standout, simple, creamy, and actually flavorful. The pesto came in second, solid. The spicy vodka... kind of disappeared? It just didn't have much flavor at all, which was surprising. We also started with the Messina Caesar salads, which were really good, crisp, well-dressed, and a strong start to the meal. But what really made this place shine was the service. The bartenders were amazing--super attentive, friendly, and just brought such a great energy to the whole experience. It made everything feel elevated even when the food didn't fully hit across the board. Overall, I'd give it a 4/5 for the vibes, service, and concept. If I were rating purely on the food, it would land closer to a 3/5 -- but I'd still come back for drinks and an app, just not the pasta flight.

I generally don't go for Italian food because of how heavy and dairy-heavy a lot of the foods can get, but it was a Saturday night and the bestie and I wanted to conclude a very busy night after doing a lot of cardio in Tukwila. We came here around 7pm and got seated immediately even though most if not all the tables and bar seating were full; it got even more full the longer we stayed. Inside is bustling even though the dim lighting makes this place feel like fine dining. Menu consists of pastas, pizzas, bread and some desserts, and there were a lot to choose from. We both settled on the petite Messina flight, which is a choice of three full portion sized pastas of our choosing, in which we chose pesto, carbonara and bolognese. It came with a sparkler just like their world famous Messina flight which lets you choose five instead of three, so I was still excited to get some literal sparks with my meal. Among the three pastas: - The pesto was oddly my most favorite; it was spicy which added a hot kick to it. - Bolognese was salty but the beef and pork mixture I was picking up from it was delicious. - Carbonara was relatively plain, using bucatini (think regular spaghetti noodles) with guanciale (cured pork). This whole flight was advertised as being perfect for a party of two, though we had to take portions of each home for ourselves. We also shared some garlic bread, which came in eight pieces and came with garlic sauce in the middle. It made our meal even more filling though their garlic profile is irresistible. Be prepared to spend a lot here: the flight itself was $85 before tax and even more than that if you get the world famous. Regardless, this place makes for a nice night out for getting full and just enjoying yourself in general.

This spot was chosen by my daughter and it was a great choice! This place is very cool and our server Jack was an awesome server! Would definitely return here if ever in Seattle. There is too much detail to describe all the flavors of the pasta flight so I will leave it to the foodies who love pastas to try this place out and decide for yourselves. I know this is not helpful but ignore the 3.5 stars on the rating and I guarantee you will not be disappointed. Today was travel day and I'm toast, good night

Good food and strong drinks! We had a Reservation and was seated immediately. Our Server was Ryan and he was wonderful. Helpful with the menu and answering any questions and following up if we needed our drinks refilled. We got the Wings and a Petite Flight (3 choices and we got the cacio Pepe, carbonara, bogonlnese). Let me tell you, the flight not only looked good, but it tasted good too! We got the Messinaritas to drink, yummy and I had 2.

While staying in Seattle for a business trip, I was craving pasta and decided to DoorDash Messina. I settled on the spicy vodka pasta and the garlic bread, but the meal ultimately fell flat for me. The pasta was very sweet and unseasoned, and it was not spicy at all. The cheese on the dish also had a strange texture, and the pasta itself was dry and not very saucy. The garlic bread was yummy, so I ate most of that and only a few bites of the pasta. Overall, I was not a fan and would not order again or return if I find myself in Seattle in the future.

BEWARE ! This place add's 22% service change to bill and dosent share the details till the end... Then the person serving notes we can give more that's all his / hers. I'm thinking WTF that's a lot of nerve for a sub par meal.... I'll not be dining at Messina ever again on principle. FYI Great location close to arena and ok food but the tipping is way over the end.

Food was pretty good, but the service wasn't top tier by any means. We were lucky enough to do a walk-in, but the staff did not look to thrilled to be there. Just a job for them which I get, but still, pretend to care. Anyways, about the food. It was pretty solid from what I recall from 2 months when I went. Chicken parmesan was a good size that came with some pretty good looking spaghetti. The pasta flights that I saw people get looked really unnecessarily over the top with it's presentation, but definitely looked good to try. We were kind of on a time crunch to make it to a concert, so we didn't have time for something like that. Still the food, took a while to come out, but didn't cause us to be late luckily. This seems like it's good for big groups, but I would probably just stick to having 2-4 people still. Definitely will put in a reservation next time because I honestly should be doing that to begin with. Overall experience was moderate, I'll go back for the food still.

The ambience of the place is nice and clean, with a moody dimmer lighting. My friends and I got to try the viral pasta flight as seen on TikTok. It was tasty and nice way for us to sample multiple of there different pastas they have to offer. The food was good but didn't taste like anything too special, the lighter at the end of the flight was super festive. Can see this being a great spot to celebrate for special occasions. We also got the margarita pizza and the Brussels sprouts to share. Each person had at least one dish they enjoyed. Service was friendly. But be warned that on top of the 22% service charge that is included on the bill, the waiter will ask you personally for additional tips for their service. For the expensive pricing alone and okay taste can't say it's a spot worth visiting more than once.

Came here for some bites and drinks during happy hour and Jack took great care of us! Service was fast and prompt and all the food/drinks came out perfectly. The pizzas were our favorite with great crust and well cooked. We'll be back!

I've been dying to visit Messina for the pasta flight and it did not disappoint. We had 4 people and it was the perfect amount with a little leftover but I love that they also offer a smaller flight if you're going with fewer! Our favorites were the bolognese and the carbonara... perfectly al dente and so flavorful The garlic bread... my goodness. i'll be dreaming about that aioli forever. And don't skip the broccolini so good with just the right amount of spice. Such a good spot for date night, and they have plenty of TVs if you're heading to a Kraken game. And I love that you can make a reservation! I cannot wait to go back and try the rest of the menu

Visited Messina on Saturday night based on a random Tik Tok post. It was not busy at 7 PM but not complaining as I'm sure it would be loud if it were packed. The restaurant is located diagonally from the Met Market where the Racha used to be. No reserved parking, so that's a bummer. I would not want to come here if there was an event at Climate Pledge. We ordered the Petite Pasta Flight with Pesto, Carbonara, and Bolognese. The pasta was good and there definitely was meat in the bolognese and carbonara so not sure what the Yelper Reviewer was talking about. I liked the pesto as they had added broccolini and red pickled peppers which added a nice crunch. Bolognese was solid. We also ordered the crispy potatoes based on a Yelpers review. It was good but not life-changing as reported. The caesar salad had 2 anchovies on top and apparently had anchovies in the dressing. I couldn't taste it in the dressing but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I would pass on the Sicilian meatballs. They were dry and I did not like the cheese at all. They were spicy but not blow your head off spicy. They were my least favorite dish. We also ordered the mushroom pizza. It was good but not mind blowing although the crust was very good, fluffy and soft. Overall I'm glad I tried it. It is worthy of a return visit but only if I'm already in the area and can easily find a parking spot.

Stumbled upon this spot by accident when we went to Seattle for the wrong event The food was good , ambiance was cute , service was okay Where it took no time to be seated, it took close to 10 mins to even receive water. Then another 5 to get our order taking Once ordered the food came out quick but geez

I wasn't really impressed with their restaurant, it's more of a dark vibe for date night and not really family friendly. We came here for the pasta flight and not disappointed. The service was friendly and our server was helpful and patient with us.

As I was checking out, the staff person mentioned that the Tall Grass baked goods in the case were free because they were two days old and would be replaced the next morning by a fresh batch. So nice! I brought home a savory spinach breakfast item with me, which my partner greatly appreciated. Hint: Make sure you have cash on hand for a tip! They can't include tips on card purchases.

We did find seating and there is seating in the restaurant portion, as well as down the stairs. It's a cute little place in the heart of pike place. We got the lasagna casalinga, from the farm, and from the sea pastas. Lasagna casalinga: I love lasagna but I've never had a white sauce lasagna before. I really loved this and I loved it a lot more than I expected. It has peas, sausage, and mushrooms, made with in house bechamel sauce. I thought this might feel super heavy and rich since it was a cream sauce but it wasn't! It was creamy without the feeling of being "too much" when eating it! That's always my worry whenever I eat cream pastas or sauces, that I can only eat a few bites and then feel full bc it the richness. The mushrooms, pea, and sausage worked so nicely into the flavoring of the lasagna and the sausage was flavorful and seasoned well. I believe it's a pork sausage which in my option always tastes great. From the farm: this was my absolute favorite! I always lean towards ragu or bolognese sauce, it's my favorite dish because the flavors become so pronounced during the cooking process. This was a bison ragu with perfectly al dente rigatoni. The bison wasn't gamey and pair so nicely with the ragu because it was able to get in all the crevices of the pasta. We opted for burrata as a topping which gave a really nice creaminess From the sea: this was a spaghetti with rockfish, pea vines, leeks, and harissa. The pasta felt a little Asian inspired, in Chinese cooking we steam whole rockfish and pea vines are a very common veggie dish, so I loved that the elements made me think of my culture. The harissa also gave it a spicy kick which was reminiscent of having chili oil or chili paste on the side at dimsum. While I loved the flavors of this it wasn't my favorite because it was a bit too light. I really wished the flavors were bolder and more pronounced. Rockfish/white fish is very mild fish so the taste is very dependent on the flavors you add to it. However if you like light flavors and fish that isn't too fishy, this is great! This is a really fresh dish so even though it wasn't my favorite doesn't mean it's not a great pasta! I can't wait to come back to try the next rotation of pastas!

The menu is very small and simple, I recommend checking it online before coming since they usually only have one "spike" dish that stands out and is special. If that dish doesn't particularly stand out to you and you don't feel like spending $20+ on basic pasta then you're out of luck. The pasta itself is very good! Good texture on the noodles, the flavors were very mild but fresh and organic. I really liked the inclusion of various nuts as it added complexity to the flavor and textures, I've since added sunflower seeds to my own pasta recipes. All in all, I think it is actually worth the medium-high cost for a first experience and the pasta does feel higher quality. It reminds me of Tavolata

I didnt love the curb-appeal of this place from the street view, but once you walk in, it feels very cozy and warm, and i could even imagine some italian Nonnas rolling out pasta in the back. We started with drinks - the typical negroni for me and the girlfriend went with their Mauro option, which I believe is named after the original owner. My negroni was exactly what I was hoping for, but I honestly think the Mauro was better! Slight drink envy - no notes! Went we go to Itailan spots like this, we love getting an app or two, then splitting a pasta and pizza. We had to try their caprese salad as it is one of our favorites. They kept it simple which is always ideal with caprese - wide cut tomatos, single basil leaf on each, a touch of balsalmic/EVOO, and a thicccck slice of their buffalo mozzarella. The only issue i had was not enough balsamic - I love a heavy acid to cut through the EVOO and buffalo mozzarella. Their balsamic seemed to be reduced which is nice, but not enough 'bite' in my option. For mains, we split their Salsiccia Pizza and the Pappardelle. The pizza was great with one caveat - their marinara and sausage were super simple and super flavorful. My only issue was with the CRUST - not good at all, super soggy and did not hold up against gravity. For the Pappardelle, after mispronoucning this dish, i basically inhaled it. Wild boar for the protein and the pasta was clearly made in house. The kapers and kalamata olives really made this dish - brought out some brine-y brightness that balanced out the tomato based sauce perfectly. Our server was the epitomy of perfect - unobtrusive yet very aware when we needed something. I dont recall her name, but her photo is in other posts below! Cant wait to go back :) Side note, Mauro has a few cookbooks, which I believe has some receipes the restaurante uses - super cool!
