Dry burger patties and bacon. Fries were very good though.
Claudia L.

If I were rating this for staff and ambiance this place would be 5 stars. The staff is friendly and attentive and the restaurant itself spacious and very clean. Rating the food, on just the burger, is quite a bit lower. The burger patties and bacon were both VERY dry. The bacon was much more like jerky. and the patties were so tough they tasted reheated. The burgers at Five Guys are significantly better. The fries were really well done and crispy! The best part of the plate. Their other dishes look promising, so if I come back I would definitely order something else.

Great place to grab a coffee, tea, shake, breakfast and brunch. The gal takes great care in details and quality of drinks, good and service. Food is delicious, I've had the aci bowl, breakfast sandwich and burrito. Love the cold brew with the sweet foam on top!! The decor is fun, calm and really represents that area of San Jose. Great for locals as it's within walking distance for me and something to travel to.

Patience is needed initially, especially during the weekend brunch rush. The food choices are very good, seems like the menu has been simplified from a few years back. I agree that a better check in system would go a long way to improve things, however we were treated in order and got a spot. Nice music selevtiins and the inside has been well maintained (or upgraded from my last visit). The Date/Banana Smoothie/ Shake is very tasty, although it is made with real dates and could contain unexpected fiber. I was able to throw together exactly what zi wanted from the side menu without the typical up charge. The food was great! Pictures below.

Chorizo Omlette

OMG. If I could come here for brunch everyday, I would be here every, single, day. iJava has quickly become a personal favorite when I'm in the area with my friends. The service here is incredible, staff is super attentive, friendly and quick. I found myself chatting with the staff about coffee and lattes more than chatting with my friends at some points. You can tell they really respect the craft and enjoy what they do. Plenty of tables available indoor and outdoor. Restaurant layout is beautiful, lots of large windows for natural sunlight and decor that matches the vibe of the place. For brunch, I had the Chorizo Omelette and the Matcha Tea Latte. The latte came out first, I ordered it hot and it was presently so beautifully. The perfect amount of earthy flavors and the oat milk was fantastic with it. The Chorizo Omelette had my mouth salivating. I thought it smelled good but it tasted even better. Chorizo was spicy but not overpowering. All the veggies and toppings blended in the omelette very well. It was a popular choice and I can see why customers love it! Please give iJava a chance next time you're looking for your next brunch destination. Staff never pushed us to finish up, always refilled our coffees and drinks without having to ask and really wanted you to enjoy your stay. Incredible service and great food!

Roast Half Chicken

The place is open all day now and so we had to try the dinner menu! I've been here a couple of times but only for the breakfast items, so I'm excited about what they have to offer! Roast Half Chicken(8/10): The chicken was huge and very delicious! I will say it was a little dry, but the sauce made up for it! The sauce was sour and salty because of the capers and I thought the flavors were nicely balanced. The vegetables were good, but nothing to rave over. The rice was good as well, but I felt like it needed a little salt. Service(10/10): Our server was very nice, friendly, and helpful! They made sure to check up on us and helped us whenever we needed it! Overall, a really good place to go to whether it's for breakfast or dinner!

Side of swedish pancakes and pistachio latte on the side

The staff was really nice and accommodating. Parking is plentiful at this location. Large patio seating and a bunch of food items to choose from. Meat lover omelet: fluffy eggs, nice amount of fillings, wish the hash browns were even more well done Swedish pancakes: very tasty, tender and light, went well as the sweet side to other salty entrees Definitely recommend this spot for breakfast and they accommodate larger parties as well

Breakfast Chilaquiles
Serena S.

I'm giving it 5 stars for the great value breakfast! I paid $20 for a hearty meal that I ended up eating in two sittings because it is so filling (including tip). I popped in for a quick hit and ordered their chorizo chilaquiles. The server suggested to have the egg cooked over easy, which was a good call because the runny yolk added a level of creaminess to the dish. The salsa sauce on the tortilla chips is spicy! Also served with black beans and garnished with queso and jalapeño slices. Service is prompt and pleasant. Place is clean and has outdoor seating too.

We came here multiple times. The service is good. The food is decent. They have a variety of coffee options. I especially like their courtyard, which is very suitable for large families and a fresh smell of California morning. This place is also very child-friendly. Usually there's not much waitline as this place has plenty of seats. You can eat either inside or outside.

Turkey, Egg & Cheese

I've been to this spot a few times and enjoyed my meals each time. This particular instance we were greeted and sat right away as the restaurant wasn't too busy. The restaurant doesn't get too noisy and there's plenty of space between tables. We both ordered the turkey and egg and cheese sandwich with avocado. I got the iced pistachio latte and my friend ordered a matcha latte. The sandwich is a great portion and adding the avocado was a great touch. I love the pistachio latte and this was the primary reason for my return. Overall, this is a great spot to come for breakfast and staff is attentive and kind.

Chicken Katsu Burrito with a side salad

I came on New Year's Day with some friends to enjoy some good coffee and food. This was my first time visiting this location and I love the large space. There are outdoor and indoor seating areas. We were sat immediately and placed our orders within a reasonable time. This cafe has a great variety of food and has halal meats. I ordered a pistachio latte with oat milk and a chicken katsu burrito. The pistachio latte has a wonderful and rich taste. I couldn't stop drinking it. If you order one coffee item please try this. The chicken katsu burrito had a wonderful flavor. The burrito had kimchi fried rice, a poached egg, chicken katsu, spinach, katsu sauce, and chipotle mayo. I must say, it was a little messy and slightly greasy. It wasn't bad but if you are trying to remain clean while eating, be careful. The staff were all so nice and regularly ensured our water cups were full. I will for sure return to this location with my friends in the future.

Delicious breakfast and brunch spot! The best thing about this spot is that they have a variety of breakfast options I would call it an international dishes from American bfast to Mexican, Mediterranean and Swedish! The food tastes great too. The coffee and tea we had were good stuff. I highly recommend this place. Super friendly service and nice atmosphere.

Friend's crepe with fruit and ice cream
Melissa K.

Met up with friends (10 people in total) since they were home for the holidays for brunch and I've wanted to try this spot for a while. Pros- the servers were super friendly. Everyone we interacted with was quite nice. The restaurant is a decent size when considering both inside and outside seating... we were given a table pretty quickly and given the size of our party, that was great! The menu is extensive, there's a lot to choose from in regard to breakfast and lunch options. Their house made wheat bread was good, the creamy butter was even better! Cons- the food was ok. Nothing wowed me, outside of the creamy butter (no joke- that was some tasty butter!) I ordered the CA omelette and added in additional vegetables, the vegetables were fresh, which was really nice, but the egg portion was on the dry side, slightly overcooked. One friend ordered gluten free bread with her breakfast, and even though we mentioned it was missing twice, it never appeared. I did enjoy the wheat bread though... and of course, the butter! The meat selection for breakfast sides were also limited. I didn't know this place was halal before going, so was curious why it served beef bacon as opposed to pork bacon. Also all their sausage options had Jalapeño in them, which since I can't eat spicy, was limiting for me. One friend ordered the steak, it didn't have the nice sear you'd expect from a well cooked steak. At least, while we passed it down the table, I didn't see a sear. I picked the spot and while happy with some areas, don't believe I'd come back.

Occasionally burnt espresso but I love them too much to mind. I am a matcha snob to say the LEAST. Hands down best coffee shop matcha in the Bay Area. The classic iced matcha latte with honey is grassy and earthy and creamy and a little sweet. The iced banana pudding matcha latte had people lined up around the corner for months when it came out. It is deliciously worth the wait. Best banana cold foam in my opinion because it's made with actual bananas instead of flavoring so it's much more mellow. The double matcha they had for awhile is also awesome. Banana cold foam also goes great on an espresso latte. Now they let you add whichever cold foam you like to whatever drink which is great. Basically you can't go wrong. They are always changing up the menu for the new season and have lots of unique drinks on their menu. Not much seating inside at this location. The winchester Blvd one has more if that's what you're looking for. Their pastries are also all yummy and they sell their matcha powder for $60 for 100g which is a GREAT price for a great matcha. I would've gate kept this place but everyone already knows about it so I HAVE to show them the love they deserve!!

I came on a Friday morning and it wasn't too busy. All the seats inside were taken but there were open tables outside. There's metered parking along Second and William street and it wasn't hard to find a spot. I love coming to academic and trying their new drinks, so I'll definitely be back.

They use a syrup that was not mixed it, it was settled about half a centimeter at the bottom. The flavor of the banana tasted like a medicinal/chemically banana similar to that of a vintage banana laffy taffy. Matcha quality was decent but for $8, there are much better quality options in the South Bay for the same high price. I also ordered the house margherita pizza, more emphasis on the house rather than the margherita since it was very much their own rendition with arugula, diced tomatoes, and would looked to be shredded cheese. It wasnt bad but also wasn't special. It's moreso caprese pizza sans vinegar, which honestly might be a good addition. The inside is also very cold, and I know it wasn't just me because I heard a couple other tables around me noting the same thing. If you're coming here to work for a while, bring a jacket. Overall, decent but not great for the price you pay.

With some coffees a second cup will give me a stomach ache (especially since I drink my cold brews black and bitter like my soul), but I had no problems with their cold brews! I also got the vegan stonefruit scone (baked by Sweet Dragon) and while a little on the dry side (common with scones), paired extremely well with the coffee and had good flavor. Husband got a cappuccino and a strawberry mini pie and was extremely pleased with his order. The service is friendly, but some things may have been new on the day we went. They almost forgot my cold brew until we asked at the counter, as well as stating that they didn't have anything to heat up my husband's strawberry pie (which seems odd, since a little toaster oven seems like a simple fix for that), but apparently it was fantastic at room temperature anyway. Seating was absolutely full when we got there and we were lucky to snag a table as another couple left, so it seems like a popular Saturday morning spot. Several folks were working on laptops, and it seems like a kid-friendly place. There's also a decent amount of parking, and it's in a shared building with a brewery and other businesses. It has a bit of an unfinished warehouse vibe, which honestly makes sense for a coffee roaster. Only real inconvenience was that the restroom is locked, which feels a little odd for such a large coffee shop. Overall I'd still come back, but next time I'll definitely try an espresso based drink instead.
