    Rings and fries
    Aden G.

Freshly consumed fries and rings were cold. It's weird. Was there time loss from fryer to the counter? They were greasy and yet dry fries. Onion rings had robust batter which was nice. The veggie patty was mushy and the flavor was hard to describe but not so pleasant. It was my bad to pair with wheat buns which made the sandwich dry and tuff. Stand Burger with broiche is hardy, heavy but just OK. Veggie components were overpowered by the patty and cheese. Overall the meal feels like bar food and so the liking would depend on your taste. Perhaps a beer would have helped...

Hey there party people Just happened to walk in to an American burger joint called The Stand. It was counter service with an almost sports bar vibe. It was very clean and the wait staff were like hawks circling to take you plate away. Almost made you feel like you needed to get out... The food was average. We got the French onion soup burger...I know sounds weird but it was tasty with a cup of French onion soup Au jus. The onions rings were ok but nothing to write home about. I did see some salads go by that looked really good. If I were to go back I would definitely go with a salad before having the burgers. Be kind to one another

An upscale, american fast food chain forsure. My friend and I came here a week ago after walking comm hills. The Santa Clara location was what I had bookedmarked for a long time, but didn't get a chance to try it yet! We took at least 10 minutes to look at the menu and there were so many options! They also offer free house chips, and pickles at the register as well. I ended up getting a jalapeno burger and my friend got their grilled cheese (forgot the meat name). It was definitely filling. I initially asked for a lettuce wrap but dont think the cashier's knew what I was asking for. I tried to use in n out as an example and they told me it might be hard for the chefs to understand so whatever. I ended up eating 1 1/2 of the buns. My friend enjoyed their grilled cheese and 1 was enough for her. The fries were free if you download the app! I didn't expect this spot to serve you the food if you dine in. That was really nice.

IMHO I've been to another Stand in Santa Clara, but this was my first visit to this new location. My friend and I each ordered The Stand burger plus an order of small onion rings to share. I was asked for my choice of dips and asked for two containers of ketchup. We grabbed some free pickles and chips from a tray on the counter. When our burgers arrived, I asked for to-go boxes since I knew I'd be eating only half and bringing the rest home. The kind server, Frankie (?) brought us each a knife to cut our burgers and two take-out boxes! I unwrapped my burger to cut it and was surprised to feel the top bun was cold as if it had just been taken out of the fridge. No burger should sit in a cold bun. However, the burger was tasty but messy to eat. I felt like the bun fell apart too easily as I ate it. Is the bun supposed to be toasted? I don't know... Onion rings were good. Service was friendly. Will I return? Probably, but next time I'll ask if the bun could be slightly toasted.

Sweet Potato Fries. The bag and cardboard container were pretty greasy.

I've been wanting to try The Stand for a while now and finally ordered dinner from them via DoorDash tonight. It wasn't good. I ordered a burger with the patty cooked medium, but it was well-done and extremely salty. I couldn't eat it. I also ordered sweet potato fries and the bag they came in was so drenched in oil it was a bit shocking. I could only eat a few of them due to the heavy grease. Both items were lukewarm even though it didn't take long for delivery. The chocolate chip cookie was okay. The only thing that tasted really good was the Coke fountain drink. I don't think I will try The Stand again.

The Stand has been on our list of places to check out as it came highly recommended by friends. The place was busy on a Friday night. They only had one person taking orders even though they had a long line. The young girl did her best, but they need to have two people on the registers on a busy Friday night. I had the Onion Stack Burger. It was tasty and onion complimented and did not overpower. The onions rings were cooked perfectly. We ordered sweet potato fries, but got regular fries instead. They quickly fixed their mistake and let us keep the regular fries. This place had a cool vibe to grab a good bite of food and meet up with family and friends.

The Stand Burger was solid and satisfying. The beef patty tasted fresh, and the toppings were fresh as well, which pulled the whole burger together. I also enjoyed the fries, which came out crispy and cooked just right. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Indoor and outdoor seating available. There is also plenty of parking.

ABC burger-too much ranch. It was very drippy.

The Stand recently opened up on Capitol in the old Aqui's location in the large center with Lucky's CVS, Taco Bell, & Egghead Sando. There's a Tastea & new PhoNow next door as well. The Stand is a fast-casual place where you place your order & pay at the counter then they bring the food out to your table. The space has high ceilings, lots of seating, and looked nice and clean. Note-you'll need a magnifying glass or something to read the menu board, as the font is TINY. I appreciated that I was asked how I wanted my meat cooked. I asked if it could be medium rare, and she said yes. When I got my burger, it was well done, so I don't know why they bothered asking for a preference. I tried the ABC Burger which came with Avocado, Bacon, & Cheddar (ABC). I also bought an order of onion rings. One of my friends got the BBQ brisket sandwich and an order of french fries. Another friend tried the Teriyaki Chicken Bowl. My onion rings were either undercooked and raw or hard and inedible. I think there were only 4 rings that I could actually eat. Not good. While I liked the combination of ingredients on my burger (oh-it came with Ranch instead of mayo), the meat was dry and there was too much sauce. It was a very messy, drippy burger. My friends agreed that everything was fine. It was okay, and I might try it again, but I don't need to rush back.

This is a nice clean space. Good site lines and the bar is around the corner from the ordering area. It looks like they might be moving to a touchscreen ordering system, but on my visit, there was still a human, taking orders and able to answer my questions. While this is a hamburger place, what caught my eye is mentioned that they're hotdog is Vienna beef. Coming from Chicago to me that means a David Berg all beef kosher hotdog. I don't know if that's what this is, if it is then they might want to mention that it's kosher. And actually put up some of the marketing material from David Berg. Anyway, I ordered the hotdog and while I had a choice of four condiments, I only went with three. Yellow mustard, pickled onions, and diced tomatoes. If they had fresh chopped jalapeños on offer, I would've added those, but they only have pickled jalapeños, and those upset my stomach. It would be even better if they had sport peppers from Chicago, but they don't :-( I also ordered the french fries with ketchup, and I also took some fire sauce to sample I took a seat with a number and my food arrived shortly after. The hot dog looks pretty good and is relatively substantial in size. I liked the flavors, but next time I will tell them to go a little easy on the mustard. The french fries are a thick cut fry with that starch coating for a crispy outside. That was first adopted by a Burger King I believe. Dipped in the ketchup they were OK but I think they should bring two ketchup so that there's enough for dipping. I had to go back and ask for a second one. And perhaps I actually could've used three because I also used the french fries to dip in the fire sauce. The fire sauce at first reminded me of Sriracha, but it's something that's going to sit in your stomach for a little while. Take it easy with that in mind. The staff here is friendly and helpful. I could definitely see coming here with some friends after work for a couple drinks and a hamburger or a hotdog. Next time I am here I would probably try the avocado, bacon and cheese hamburger.

We were in the mood for some good ole fashioned American food so we decided to check out the new spot, the Stand - American classics redefined. We arrived for a late Sunday lunch recently. The restaurant is located in a nice plaza off Capital Expressway in San Jose. Parking is easy and accessible in the large parking lot. The Stand just opened 6 months ago. The modern decor is vibrant and inviting. I enjoyed the American diner ambiance and family friendly vibe. There are plenty of booths, tables, and high tops for dine-in in the restaurant. An abundance of tables are available in the patio as well. A full bar was located in the corner. Plenty of TVs hanging complimented the atmosphere. We ordered a short rib grilled cheese, a Stand burger, a kids Mac & cheese, a glass of Chardonnay, and a regular order of onion rings. Everything was delicious. My short rib grilled cheese had a scrumptious combination of tender rib meat and gooey cheddar cheese. A bit hearty but It was oozing with flavor with every bite. Some the onion rings had huge pieces of onions which was ok. The complimentary dipping sauces went very well with all the food. Overall we enjoyed our experience at the Stand. The service was friendly and helpful. It did take a little longer for the food to come out but that's fine. I thought the price point was more than fair. Lastly the homemade pickle chips and potato chip samples were a nice touch. We hope to be back to try the happy hour and try other food items from the vast menu.

I've seen this place last few months as I drive in the luckys parking lot so finally decided to try this place and I have to say it's quite delicious .. the salad was very good with ranch dressing . The fries and hamburger and cheeseburgers are very juicy will be coming back again real soon .Also there pickles are so delicious . I highly recommend this restaurant

I went back and it was much better this time. Service was good and I definitely recommend trying their variety of burgers. The fries and sauces again are top tier and I would legit go for those by themselves. I haven't tried their chilli cheese dog but will defini give those a try later. It's also been much more lively.

Saw the sign NOW OPEN!! and it caught my Yelp Eye! LOL!! first time here and I will be back. They have a big sandwich, burger, bowls and bar selection for those of you looking for a quick bite. Location off Capitol Expressway off Hgwy 87 is a prime area. I could not decide on the fish sandwich or chicken or burger so I started with the basic burger and hot dog and chocolate shake. Taylor was the customer service specialist that took care of me and I was very impressed with the amount of people they have working. The inside is very big. A lot of seats inside and out. It would be perfect for an after school event or after baseball game or any kind of team event. The burger was splendid and so was the hot dog. The bun in the hot dog was kind of stiff and not soft like a usual hot dog bun is?? Maybe that was the brand they use. But I ate it anyway's and will be back. Plenty of free parking. It's inside a big shopping plaza, CVS, Lucky grocery store and a bank and Taco Bell eeww! and Egg Head and next to Pho Now. Plenty of different types of foods.

What meat is used in chili?

Most likely beef, as that's the standard chili meat in like 99% of places. The only other option would be turkey, but usually, they'd advertise that as such to relate to the healthy crowd.

Once seated, it took the waitress a good 10 minutes to come over to our table. When she finallty did, she was going to leave without asking if we wanted to order drinks, we had to call her back. The food took a while also. Not once did she come back to check on us to see if we wanted another drink while we were waiting. She was nice enough, and maybe this is her first wait job, I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. However, we noticed quite a few of the staff were just standing around. Hats off to the person who does their Instagram - they make the place look huge, but it's not. Everyone at the table said their dish was very tasty. You HAVE to try the ftench toast a try. It was absolutely delicious.

Had Keep Calm and Crab On, Stuffed French Toast, Chicken & Waffles, Pipikaula Ribs and Flatbread…read morefor appetizer. This is more than just eating; it's a dining experience. Keep Calm and Crab On is their version of Crab Benedict. Everything about this Benedict is special and unique. Instead of the traditional lemony hollandaise sauce, it had a brown butter hollandaise. The brown butter's nutty and slight sweetness complemented the crab flavor that you can still taste the crab instead of getting overpowered by the sauce. They use loose real crab meat; not the crab patty type so no fillers. Really good amount of minced crab meat that it's nicely proportioned with the biscuit. Instead of English muffin, they use a big scallion biscuit. The biscuit was toasty on the bottom and the rest was moist with little pockets of honey. The poached egg's yolk was a bit more cooked than the traditional jelly or runny yolk but it did not make this dish any less yummy. Crispy hashbrown on disk shaped. Every part was great. 5/5 stars. The best Crab Benedict I've had and I've had quite a few. The waffle in the Chicken and Waffle was very crispy but at the same time almost flaky. It was not the dense fluffy type but it was easy to eat. It's like a cross between a croissant and waffle. The syrup was lighter than the thick pancake syrup. The waffle is 5/5 stars. The Chicken part of this dish is basically like a Taiwanese popcorn chicken that you can get from a boba place. Bite sized dark meat chicken battered and fried. Served with Sriracha mayo type sauce and syrup. 3/4 stars. The Stuffed French Toast tasted like lemon meringue pie. Sweet lemony filling. The French Toast itself was fluffy but at the same time nicely soaked in custard. Slight cinnamon flavor. It came with a thick slice of bacon which is more like a slice of grilled pork belly that was buttery and umami. 4/5 stars. The Pipikaula Ribs plate had 3 slices of bone in short ribs, kimchee fried rice and two over medium eggs. The short ribs were grilled and looked like the sweet Korean BBQ short ribs but it's more savory with peppery flavor rather than sweet. Tender meat. The genorously portioned Kimchee rice was mostly spicy. 3.5/5 stars because the Kimchee was too spicy to fully enjoy the dish. The Flatbread appetizer had a good amount of mozzarella cheese melted on top soft fluffy flatbread with salty prosciutto slice in between. Topped with perfectly poached egg. Wish they offer fountain soda vs bottled ones. Each dish was eye so pleasing that couldn't wait to dig into it as soon as they landed on the table. Staff, Anna Lisa, was very pleasant and just made us felt comfortable; which was important because it's our first time dining here. Nice comfortable dining room with high ceiling and big windows. Great food with quality ingredients and thoughtfully put together menu, welcoming staff, relaxed ambiance. Will definitely return.

I came here with a friend on a weekday for dinner and it was not packed at all. The atmosphere was very minimalist and clean, with a cute disco ball in the corner. This establishment requires you to order at the bar (makes sense it's a bar), and then they did you a number for the table so they can deliver your food. Any drinks you order they will make it right then and there for you to bring over. In terms of food, here is everything we ordered and my thoughts! *Deviled eggs: You would think since it's deviled eggs, there wouldn't be anything too special about them but I appreciated the small pops of salmon roe that added a nice textural play with the creamy eggs! * Bluefin tostada: Absolutely delicious with fresh tuna, paired with mango, on a crispy wonton chip. What a rich treat. * Arancini: The twist of fusion flavors was great. I love how the Japanese curry added a nice mix of umami, paired with the sharp creamy kimchi sauce. Definitely a favorite! * Pork belly: Pull apart, juicy, and tender! These paired actually really well with the arancini for a good balance of rice and meat. * Red miso crème brûlée: interesting sweet and salty flavor combination between the red miso and Madagascar vanilla. Not too overpowering tho. A lovely meal was had here!

Wow! Everything was so good here and the service was amazing too. The owner took the time to…read moreexplain to us the inspiration behind the dishes and that really made the restaurant super inviting. We started with the crab crostini and the Brussels sprouts. The crab was very fresh and each crostini had a large portion of crab on top. The Brussels sprouts were very crispy and very umami with the cheese and bacon combination mixed in. The empanada was honestly a showstopper. I don't know how to describe it other than you have to try it. Both pastas were good but I prefer the mushroom one over the short rib ragu. The halibut was also good, and the basil sauce made it even better. I was already super impressed with everything but I think the stars were the 2 desserts. The Dubai cheesecake was an Italian style cheesecake, so it was a lot lighter than I was expecting (which was welcomed) and captured the essence of Dubai chocolate without being too overwhelming. The Lira in Wonderland was also SO good. It had a crown of cotton candy and was a mix of biscoff cookies, dehydrated red velvet cake (don't knock it till you try it), butterscotch sauce, and strawberries. I was honestly blown away by this meal.

This was supposed to be a special birthday dinner date that my husband meticulously planned for me,…read morebut it turned into the most horrendous dining experience I've ever had. We dined at Lira on November 14th. The Service (or Lack Thereof): The Menu Shortage: We arrived for our 6:45 PM reservation only to be told by the manager that they didn't have enough menus. We were told they'd bring them "later." Ignored for 35+ Minutes: We sat with nothing but water for over half an hour. To make matters worse, a table of six was seated after us and received their full entrees while we were completely ignored. The Drink Mess: After 40 minutes, the server told me they were out of ingredients for my drink. When I picked a second option, she tried to insist I wanted a drink with celery (my most despised vegetable). We thankfully stopped her before it was made, but the incompetence was staggering. The Food Fiasco: An hour into our reservation, someone dropped off a scallop dish. A while later, a server asked if I'd "received the scallops yet," and I realized the plate I was eating wasn't even intended for our table. We were so starving that my husband and I just shared them. Once we finished, the server finally asked my husband if he "still wanted his meal or if he wanted to cancel it." I finally lost my cool - of course he still wanted his dinner! The Aftermath: My husband didn't realize that my friends had actually made a separate reservation to take me back to this same spot the following night for a second birthday celebration. After this performance, there was no way I was going to step foot in this building again or give them another cent of our money. I texted my friends from the table to cancel those reservations and book elsewhere. With service this disorganized and insulting, this restaurant won't be in business long. Super disappointing. Don't waste your special occasions here. *Edit - it looks like Lira has closed. With the service we experienced, I am not surprised in the slightest. I am hopeful that whichever future business occupies this space is more successful.
