I gave this place two chances and they failed both, miserably. 1st time was a to-go order. They mixed up the order. Two patties were almost raw! 2nd time we dined in and customer service from the lady who took our order was very short with us. The beer was warm and the manager was not eager to make it right. He argued about the temp and said lines were flushed but should be cold. My wife ordered well done and I ordered medium. Hers was very pink and mine was overcooked. It's overpriced and terrible service. Try 6th street burger downtown! read more

I decided to give The Stand another try and had a much better experience than my first visit. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, my sister got the ABC Burger, and I also got a Chocolate Mint Milkshake. The Buffalo Chicken Sandwich was improved, but the chicken was still under seasoned /dry. Thankfully, the buffalo sauce and ranch added enough flavor to make it enjoyable. My sister really liked the ABC Burger, but we both agreed that $14 for a burger without fries feels overpriced. The Chocolate Mint Milkshake was just okay. The chocolate puff cereal and milkshake were about a 1:1 ratio, and the mint flavor was much too strong for my taste, so I wouldn't order it again. Overall, this visit was better than my first, but I don't see myself coming back often. For the price, I'd rather go to Red Robin, where sandwiches are similarly priced and also come with fries. *BOTTOMLESS FRIES* I order it take out this time so there's no customer service was needed during this yelp review. There's also no ambiance added to this review as well. It is solely on the quality and taste of the food I purchase. read more

My friend and I had lunch here recently and I really enjoyed it. She had a bad experience the last time we were here and the restaurant gifted her a gift card to use on another visit. I had the Havarti Shroom Burger - beef patty, havarti cheese, double portion mushroom topping, regular mayo instead of the jalapeño scallion aioli, lettuce wrap instead of the gourmet brioche bun. My burger was cooked to my liking and very tasty. The lettuce wrap was large and with the paper wrapper, I was able to eat the burger in my hands and not with a knife and fork. Very nice. For my side, I had the Stand Slaw: house-made slaw with green and red cabbage, green onion, parsley, and our house-made slaw dressing. This was nice and vinegary. A bit too many green onions for my taste but overall not bad. But I probably will do a different side next time. Good service and good food! read more

Kudos to The Stand's customer service team! After my original review of The Stand, they reached out to me to apologize for the inconsistency with the quality of our meal, and invited us to come back to give them another try. This wasn't a generic reply. Zachary specifically addressed the issues I mentioned, he showed empathy, and sincerely wanted to make it right. After a few months, my friend and I were ready to see if maybe they just had an off night when we first visited. We met up for lunch on Friday, and I made a point to order the same items so I could compare apples to apples. I ordered the ABC burger, onion rings, and a fountain soda. My friend opted for a different route. She had the Havarti Shroom burger with a lettuce wrap instead of a bun, cole slaw, and a soda. I was asked how I wanted my burger cooked, and I asked if they could do medium rare. The woman taking our order affirmed that it was possible, so I let her know that's what I wanted. Would it be pink this time? Our food was brought to the table, and even at first glance, it looked much better. My burger wasn't drowning in ranch, and the onion rings looked appealing. Everything was markedly better. And best of all, my burger was pink in the middle, yay! Good job, The Stand! Now that we've had a satisfying meal, we will be back soon. Again, excellent customer service thanks to Zachary & Oscar. I look forward to trying more of your food and enjoying consistent quality in future visits. Thank you! read more

I came by for lunch with a girlfriend who is picky about her food. We were greeted warmly by the guy at the cash register, and the servers were very nice as well. I ordered the grilled cheese sandwich with short ribs, onion rings and a chocolate milkshake with whipped cream (I asked for a maraschino cherry). My girlfriend ordered a plain hamburger and a soft drink. The food, as usual, was very tasty and came out very quickly. The facility is clean, located in a mall that has a Tastetea, Cha Cha Sushi, and other nice places. There is a Wells Fargo Bank in this mall as well. We consider this our "go to" place to eat good American food, we weren't disappointed. We both came back home, happy and replete. read more

Patio seating has heaters that turn on to make it cozy and warm for a night al.fresco. Music is softly playing in the background so you don't hear everything from the street traffic or the others talking around you. We started working our way down the line of items on the menu.. Thos time the burger of choice was the French Onion soup. It literally comes with a cup of beef broth smothered with the onions. You can dip the burger if you want extra saucynesss in every bite. Love the Vegan option. I had the falafel wrap. It was filled with crunchy falafel, greens , cucumber, tomato and red onion. It could.ss with a side of tahini hummus..Grab the jalapeno sauce to add. Ordering at the front is a good way to get things started. We have been fortunate to experience friendly service with everyone greeting us as we walk in.. Everything we tried so far is very fresh and taste is on point. If you want a spot to have a good meal with a relaxing atmosphere, you'll do well with choosing a good spot here. read more

Was in the area and was recommended this place by yelp and it didn't disappoint. Very welcoming and friendly staff with great service. It's rare when the establishment is promoting their app on the discounts you can get. Ordered the onion stack burger with no bacon jam and chili cheese fries. It's comes with onion strings, bacon on a brioche bun. No overpowering sauce on the burger and the chili cheese fries were almost perfect. Fries weren't soggy at all and very flavorful. There's a small bar area with a f ew tv to watch the games or fight. Nice burger spot that I'd definitely be back again to visit read more

Really delicious food, I struggled with 4 or 5 stars, but quality of food and portion size deserves a 5. It is one of the pricier burger options around, but you can literally customize your burger to your hearts content (or other sandwich type). We have had their burgers, fries, onion rings, chicken tenders and a salad - kale quinoa. Quality of ingredients - really high, really delicious meat. Lettuce and ingredients in salad were fresh, and plentiful. Portion size - a large fry or a large onion ring feeds my whole family - when it says large, it is large.I did not trust the first time and ended up with WAY more fries than we needed. But fun fact - these reheat really well! Some do not, these are great the next day in the air fryer (same as onion rings) The only disappointing item for my son was the chicken tenders, they were very small and mostly breading. Kind of felt like we had the last remnants of a batch. Good flavor overall, just not a lot of chicken and overall this was the smallest portion size, even for a kid size. And we order from them all: Mojo, Habit, The Burger Lounge. I would rank the Stand higher than these others for quality, flavor and menu selection. But definitely at a higher price point. One thing to keep in mind - paying for McDonalds these days is close to paying for one of these higher-quality spots and I will pay more $$ any day of the week to ensure higher quality ingredients and choices. read more

I prefer this location of the stand over the one off Lawrence Expressway. I like the seating area better. During my last visit, I tried the chimichurri steak salad and it was great. The charred corn vinaigrette was so unique, I loved this on the salad and to use as a dip for the chips. I also really enjoy the short rib grilled cheese. My husband's go-to orders are the bbq brisket sandwich and the tex-mex bowl. The service here is pretty slow, but the food makes up for it. read more

Love this place! So good! Huge place, cute vibes with string lights outside. Order at the counter and they bring your food to your table. Been here twice but life got in the way and haven't been able to review until now. First time, ordered the miso salmon bowl. Had a delicious kick that cleared your sinuses. The short rib grilled cheese was really good. Cheesy and gooey, not too decadent. The chili fries were okay. Not the best chili I've had. The stand fries were really good and crispy. Lightly seasoned. The ABC burger was good, but my only gripe was that my buns were not warmed up/toasted. I need to remind them to toast it next time. Everyone else's buns were warmed/toasted. The Big Blue Burger was sooo good and the blue cheese was not overpowering and did not disappoint, neither did the Onion Stack. The seared ahi tuna salad was good too... but of course we always wish there was more tuna! And that miso salmon bowl was just so amazing, it was ordered both times! The onion rings were crispy but not hot, not sure if they were sitting a while. The strawberry birthday cake, and chocolate shakes were both so, so delicioso! The staff are very friendly and nice too! This is for sure our favorite new spot and we can't wait to come back and try something new every time! Love this place! read more

IMHO I've been to another Stand in Santa Clara, but this was my first visit to this new location. My friend and I each ordered The Stand burger plus an order of small onion rings to share. I was asked for my choice of dips and asked for two containers of ketchup. We grabbed some free pickles and chips from a tray on the counter. When our burgers arrived, I asked for to-go boxes since I knew I'd be eating only half and bringing the rest home. The kind server, Frankie (?) brought us each a knife to cut our burgers and two take-out boxes! I unwrapped my burger to cut it and was surprised to feel the top bun was cold as if it had just been taken out of the fridge. No burger should sit in a cold bun. However, the burger was tasty but messy to eat. I felt like the bun fell apart too easily as I ate it. Is the bun supposed to be toasted? I don't know... Onion rings were good. Service was friendly. Will I return? Probably, but next time I'll ask if the bun could be slightly toasted. read more

Hey there party people Just happened to walk in to an American burger joint called The Stand. It was counter service with an almost sports bar vibe. It was very clean and the wait staff were like hawks circling to take you plate away. Almost made you feel like you needed to get out... The food was average. We got the French onion soup burger...I know sounds weird but it was tasty with a cup of French onion soup Au jus. The onions rings were ok but nothing to write home about. I did see some salads go by that looked really good. If I were to go back I would definitely go with a salad before having the burgers. Be kind to one another read more

I've been wanting to try The Stand for a while now and finally ordered dinner from them via DoorDash tonight. It wasn't good. I ordered a burger with the patty cooked medium, but it was well-done and extremely salty. I couldn't eat it. I also ordered sweet potato fries and the bag they came in was so drenched in oil it was a bit shocking. I could only eat a few of them due to the heavy grease. Both items were lukewarm even though it didn't take long for delivery. The chocolate chip cookie was okay. The only thing that tasted really good was the Coke fountain drink. I don't think I will try The Stand again. read more

An upscale, american fast food chain forsure. My friend and I came here a week ago after walking comm hills. The Santa Clara location was what I had bookedmarked for a long time, but didn't get a chance to try it yet! We took at least 10 minutes to look at the menu and there were so many options! They also offer free house chips, and pickles at the register as well. I ended up getting a jalapeno burger and my friend got their grilled cheese (forgot the meat name). It was definitely filling. I initially asked for a lettuce wrap but dont think the cashier's knew what I was asking for. I tried to use in n out as an example and they told me it might be hard for the chefs to understand so whatever. I ended up eating 1 1/2 of the buns. My friend enjoyed their grilled cheese and 1 was enough for her. The fries were free if you download the app! I didn't expect this spot to serve you the food if you dine in. Finally opened a Stand near my house and I'm super stoked, the inside is super big with plenty of seating. What I love about this place is that they have such a wide variety of menu options from burgers, hot dogs, salads and more. I wasn't in the mood for a burger which I have had before here. I ended up getting the Southwest Chicken salad, it was huge and had so much flavor. I didn't expect it to hit but it did! Being so diverse in menu options and each item is pretty good means a lot. Was also cool that they give a sample of their chips, they were so good. I should have ordered some on the side. The Stand has been on our list of places to check out as it came highly recommended by friends. The place was busy on a Friday night. They only had one person taking orders even though they had a long line. The young girl did her best, but they need to have two people on the registers on a busy Friday night. I had the Onion Stack Burger. It was tasty and onion complimented and did not overpower. The onions rings were cooked perfectly. We ordered sweet potato fries, but got regular fries instead. This is a nice clean space. Good site lines and the bar is around the corner from the ordering area. It looks like they might be moving to a touchscreen ordering system, but on my visit, there was still a human, taking orders and able to answer my questions. While this is a hamburger place, what caught my eye is mentioned that they're hotdog is Vienna beef. Coming from Chicago to me that means a David Berg all beef kosher hotdog. I don't know if that's what this is, if it is then they might want to mention that it's kosher. And actually put up some of the marketing material from David Berg. Anyway, I ordered the hotdog and while I had a choice of four condiments, I only went with three. Yellow mustard, pickled onions, and diced tomatoes. If they had fresh chopped jalapeños on offer, I would've added those, but they only have pickled jalapeños, and those upset my stomach. It would be even better if they had sport peppers from Chicago, but they don't :-( I also ordered the french fries with ketchup, and I also took some fire sauce to sample I took a seat with a number and my food arrived shortly after. The hot dog looks pretty good and is relatively substantial in size. I liked the flavors, but next time I will tell them to go a little easy on the mustard. The french fries are a thick cut fry with that starch coating for a crispy outside. That was first adopted by a Burger King I believe. Dipped in the ketchup they were OK but I think they should bring two ketchup so that there's enough for dipping. I had to go back and ask for a second one. And perhaps I actually could've used three because I also used the french fries to dip in the fire sauce. The fire sauce at first reminded me of Sriracha, but it's something that's going to sit in your stomach for a little while. Take it easy with that in mind. The staff here is friendly and helpful. I could definitely see coming here with some friends after work for a couple drinks and a hamburger or a hotdog. Next time I am here I would probably try the avocado, bacon and cheese hamburger. read more

Large parking lot. Lots of seating inside and out. Clean and open concept. As soon as you walk in you are met with the counter and greeted by smiling anxious faces. More than happy and willing to answer questions and make their recommendations. My husband and I ordered beef burgers on brioche buns with the veggies. Burgers were grilled perfectly and were juicy, buns toasted nicely. We also ordered chili cheese fries and regular fries. Fries were crispy and that chili was seasoned well and cheese lent the gooey you need and want to tie in the fries to the chili. We opted for the cucumber mint lemonade and the blueberry lemonade which were both refreshing and tasty. We will be back and will bring my sons. read more

I've tried this new place at least three times now and I'll keep coming back. I've had the salads a few times and always pleased. The salmon was cooked nicely. I'm also drawn to the aqua frescas. We were in the mood for some good ole fashioned American food so we decided to check out the new spot, the Stand - American classics redefined. We arrived for a late Sunday lunch recently. The restaurant is located in a nice plaza off Capital Expressway in San Jose. Parking is easy and accessible in the large parking lot. The Stand just opened 6 months ago. The modern decor is vibrant and inviting. I enjoyed the American diner ambiance and family friendly vibe. There are plenty of booths, tables, and high tops for dine-in in the restaurant. An abundance of tables are available in the patio as well. A full bar was located in the corner. Plenty of TVs hanging complimented the atmosphere. We ordered a short rib grilled cheese, a Stand burger, a kids Mac & cheese, a glass of Chardonnay, and a regular order of onion rings. Everything was delicious. My short rib grilled cheese had a scrumptious combination of tender rib meat and gooey cheddar cheese. A bit hearty but It was oozing with flavor with every bite. Some the onion rings had huge pieces of onions which was ok. The complimentary dipping sauces went very well with all the food. Overall we enjoyed our experience at the Stand. The service was friendly and helpful. It did take a little longer for the food to come out but that's fine. I thought the price point was more than fair. Lastly the homemade pickle chips and potato chip samples were a nice touch. We hope to be back to try the happy hour and try other food items from the vast menu. read more

I stand with "The Stand" Burger! I have to say that I came here hungry and left feeling satisfied! Let's talk about the FOOD: - My partner got the Ahi Tuna Sandwich which was flavorful, and not fishy tasting at all. I couldn't believe I was eating ahi tuna at first! - My friend got the Mushroom burger and he is a burger person. He gobbled it up and was nodding his head the whole time in happiness. - I got the Stand Burger.. I'm a basic burger gal. But this burger had all the works I could want and the brioche bun was bready perfection. I could legit just eat the bread tbh. - Side dishes like fries and onions- YUM - Thai Milkshake.. YESSS. Now I wanna try all their shakes! Service: We went on a Sunday afternoon and the service was fast! Did not have to wait long at all and the employees checked in with us on sauces and napkins. Ambiance: You got your bar side, beers, happy people, outdoor seating.. and just lots of space! We will be back to try out more on the menu! I wanna definitely try the Chimchurri salad next! read more

The Stand is a new restaurant, taking over where Aqui Restaurant used to be in the Waterford Plaza Center. Plenty of parking in this large plaza. Ambience: bright, spacious, good for groups, modern decor with orange highlights. They offer covered outside and inside dining options. They have a full bar inside. A few LCD TVs to watch sports. Separate multi-user men & women restrooms. Food: *Onion Stack Burger: beef patty, crispy onion strings, cheddar cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, bacon tomato jam, hickory sauce, on a brioche bun (3.5/5). It is a thin patty, so it was hard to taste the seasoning in the burger. But, regardless, this burger had a lot of flavor and textures going on from the other ingredients. Like the crunchiness from the onion strings and from the strips of bacon and bacon tomato jam which was the highlight for me. Also anything with crispy onion strings/rings and hickory sauce, and that's my choice of burger first! The freshness of the lettuce and tomato added to the complete burger experience. *Mac n' Cheese (4/5) - it had good flavor and the bread crumb topping. My wife wished it was served hotter (temperature wise) but personally, I think the pasta held it's shape and cheesiness perfectly this way. Service: Friendly, welcoming. After paying, get your number stand, and they will bring your food to your table. Con: The Stand App if downloaded earns you points/rewards, get free french fries as a first reward. After you verify by email sign up. I didn't receive the email until 7 hours later. That didn't help us. I guess next visit we'll be able to use it. I have been to the restaurant located by Lawrence Expressway and the food and service is pretty similar. So is the way the restaurant is setup. They take your order at the counter and deliver your food to your table for those who dine in. There is a good mix of take out and dine in orders. During certain televised sporting event, the place can get pretty crowded. The large number of TVs helps though they seem to be angled from most seats in the restaurant. The food was quite good though the burgers were delivered a little cold. For this day I think the restaurant was a little short handed for the number of customers that showed up. I ordered the chips and guacamole, the chicken wings (a dry rub version would be nice), small onion rings, small fries and a side salad (which was huge) while my friends ordered two jalapeño burgers. It is a very casual atmosphere and there is plenty of parking available. read more

The Stand American Classics has become one of our go-to spots whenever we're craving a great burger. Everything we've ordered has been fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The restaurant is clean, the atmosphere is relaxed, and it's a great place for families or a casual meal with friends. I ordered the bbq brisket sandwich and sweet potato fries, which came out to about $20. Service was pretty good, food came out at a reasonable time. The fries were average. Nothing crazy, but still tasted good. The brisket was cut thinly and had slaw and peppers inside. Their sauce had a more pronounced sourness rather than a sweetness to it, which I didn't mind. I found it to be quite tasty and the meat, while not particularly juicy, was cut thinly enough to still be tender Overall, I'd rate this place a 6.5/10 (5 is average). Food was solid and at a price that is relatively in line with the area. It didn't blow me away, but still satisfied me read more

Stand Out SoCal-based chain of restaurants (ca.2003) that now has over twenty locations, with a preponderance of which are here in CA, with one random location in The Woodlands, TX. This South SJ location is the 2nd Bay Area location (Sunnyvale), and is their newest location to open taking over the Aquí lease here at Waterford Plaza. The Good: *Excellent service by Josh *Fast-casual order at the counter, take a number, and they'll bring it out to your table. And, don't bother bussing as they'll take care of that, as well. *Pet-friendly outdoor seating *Huge free shared parking lot, so parking shouldn't be an issue. *Full-bar w/ local and macro beers on-tap *Burgers are fantastic. I love their brioche buns that they use as they're soft and tasty, but hold up to the nicely greasy patty and toppings. I also love that they ask how you want your patty cooked, and they actually followed thru. *Carissa really enjoyed her Southwest Chicken Salad. *Milkshakes are bomb. Just get one. *Onion Rings are good and crispy, but I feel like they could use a little extra seasoning or something. Fortunately, their housemade spicy honey mustard covered up any shortcomings. *I hate to see the day when a $13-14 burger is a good deal, but yet here we are. I've had burgers for nearly twice the price that weren't half this good. *Download the app to collect points that are good towards $ off future purchases. The Meh: *While the menu has some really quality options, I find it a bit bigger than it probably needs to be, but I'm a fan of small, curated menus. *Entire menu is á la carte. I wish they'd have some combo options to save money. The Ugly: *Mac & Cheese was a bit stodgy, and very one-note. My 14-yr-old M&C Connoisseur said it reminded him of cafeteria food. Conclusion: Fantastic burgers with beer and tasty sides. Simplicity done right. Highly recommended. read more

Been to their other location thanks to a YEE awhile back. Fairly new, this place replaced the Aquis, staff were very energetic and welcoming, and be prepared to bring a jacket because the air conditioning was cranked up. It's currently scorching hot outside so I appreciated the crisp and chill air in here. Food came our fairly quickly. The salad was fresh and the cookie (chocolate chip) was chewy. When I first visited The Stand right after it opened I gave it 5 stars. I thought it was excellent and the service was great. After the grand opening was over though the quality and service decreased steadily. The food is good, and mostly the same flavors, but the service is lacking. The past several times I've gone to The Stand I have found a number of issues. I got the app, but I have to remind the server every time otherwise I don't get the points. It's kind of weird since they pushed it so hard at the beginning and the advertisements often offer double or triple points on certain days. Do they not want me to use it? I often get a cocktail when I'm there. The cocktails have all been good but they take forever to make. The same bartender is usually there and spends most of his time talking to people at the bar. The last time I was there, the bar had two bartenders (I believe they were switching shifts.) It still took over 15 minutes to get our drinks. The food still takes longer. It seems they don't know how to prioritize and get the food done at once. Sometimes we order green beans and they are super hot but the burgers are cold. The last time the burgers were hot but the onion rings were cold and chewy like they had been sitting a while. The food is pretty good. It's not cheap but it's a nice place to go for a meal that isn't fast food, but you can get a cocktail yet it's not super expensive. I'll probably go back but I'm just dreading it getting worse until there's no point in going again. read more

It's nice to see a new burger spot in the area! We came by on a Saturday night and the place was packed with lots of families and couples, but the open layout and patio kept it from feeling cramped. The cashier who helped us was super sweet and patient, which made ordering a breeze. I loved that they had such a big variety of sauces to choose from, we tried the lemon aioli and scallion aioli, and both were excellent additions to the meal. I also appreciated that they ask how cooked you like your burger to be. What we ordered: * The Stand Burger (added avocado) * The Ultimate Egg Burger * 1 Strawberry Milkshake * 1 Blended Ice Paloma * 1 Large Fries * 1 Regular Mac & Cheese Total (before tip): $62 The burgers were definitely the highlight--juicy, flavorful, and really well put together. The fries on their own were just okay, but perfect once dipped in the sauces. The mac and cheese could use a little more flavor, but I can see it being a hit with kids since the cheese sauce was velvety and mild. My strawberry shake was a bit too over blended and melted but the flavor was good--it reminded me of a Helados Mexican paleta. I also thought it was a nice touch that they offered complimentary pickles to snack on while waiting. Overall, this feels like a solid local staple if you're craving a good burger. It's family-friendly but also has a bar area that works for adults who just want to hang out. I'd come back the next time the burger craving hits! read more
