Finally opened a Stand near my house and I'm super stoked, the inside is super big with plenty of seating. What I love about this place is that they have such a wide variety of menu options from burgers, hot dogs, salads and more. I wasn't in the mood for a burger which I have had before here. I ended up getting the Southwest Chicken salad, it was huge and had so much flavor. I didn't expect it to hit but it did! Being so diverse in menu options and each item is pretty good means a lot. Was also cool that they give a sample of their chips, they were so good. I should have ordered some on the side. Freshly consumed fries and rings were cold. It's weird. Was there time loss from fryer to the counter? They were greasy and yet dry fries. Onion rings had robust batter which was nice. The veggie patty was mushy and the flavor was hard to describe but not so pleasant. It was my bad to pair with wheat buns which made the sandwich dry and tuff. Stand Burger with broiche is hardy, heavy but just OK. Veggie components were overpowered by the patty and cheese. Overall the meal feels like bar food and so the liking would depend on your taste. Hey there party people Just happened to walk in to an American burger joint called The Stand. It was counter service with an almost sports bar vibe. It was very clean and the wait staff were like hawks circling to take you plate away. Almost made you feel like you needed to get out... The food was average. We got the French onion soup burger...I know sounds weird but it was tasty with a cup of French onion soup Au jus. The onions rings were ok but nothing to write home about. An upscale, american fast food chain forsure. My friend and I came here a week ago after walking comm hills. The Santa Clara location was what I had bookedmarked for a long time, but didn't get a chance to try it yet! We took at least 10 minutes to look at the menu and there were so many options! They also offer free house chips, and pickles at the register as well. I ended up getting a jalapeno burger and my friend got their grilled cheese (forgot the meat name). It was definitely filling. I initially asked for a lettuce wrap but dont think the cashier's knew what I was asking for. I tried to use in n out as an example and they told me it might be hard for the chefs to understand so whatever. I ended up eating 1 1/2 of the buns. My friend enjoyed their grilled cheese and 1 was enough for her. The fries were free if you download the app! I didn't expect this spot to serve you the food if you dine in. IMHO I've been to another Stand in Santa Clara, but this was my first visit to this new location. My friend and I each ordered The Stand burger plus an order of small onion rings to share. I was asked for my choice of dips and asked for two containers of ketchup. We grabbed some free pickles and chips from a tray on the counter. When our burgers arrived, I asked for to-go boxes since I knew I'd be eating only half and bringing the rest home. The kind server, Frankie (?) brought us each a knife to cut our burgers and two take-out boxes! I unwrapped my burger to cut it and was surprised to feel the top bun was cold as if it had just been taken out of the fridge. No burger should sit in a cold bun. However, the burger was tasty but messy to eat. I felt like the bun fell apart too easily as I ate it. Is the bun supposed to be toasted? I don't know... Onion rings were good. Service was friendly. I've been wanting to try The Stand for a while now and finally ordered dinner from them via DoorDash tonight. It wasn't good. I ordered a burger with the patty cooked medium, but it was well-done and extremely salty. I couldn't eat it. I also ordered sweet potato fries and the bag they came in was so drenched in oil it was a bit shocking. I could only eat a few of them due to the heavy grease. Both items were lukewarm even though it didn't take long for delivery. The chocolate chip cookie was okay. The only thing that tasted really good was the Coke fountain drink. The Stand has been on our list of places to check out as it came highly recommended by friends. The place was busy on a Friday night. They only had one person taking orders even though they had a long line. The young girl did her best, but they need to have two people on the registers on a busy Friday night. I had the Onion Stack Burger. It was tasty and onion complimented and did not overpower. The onions rings were cooked perfectly. We ordered sweet potato fries, but got regular fries instead. The Stand recently opened up on Capitol in the old Aqui's location in the large center with Lucky's CVS, Taco Bell, & Egghead Sando. There's a Tastea & new PhoNow next door as well. The Stand is a fast-casual place where you place your order & pay at the counter then they bring the food out to your table. The space has high ceilings, lots of seating, and looked nice and clean. Note-you'll need a magnifying glass or something to read the menu board, as the font is TINY. I appreciated that I was asked how I wanted my meat cooked. I asked if it could be medium rare, and she said yes. When I got my burger, it was well done, so I don't know why they bothered asking for a preference. I tried the ABC Burger which came with Avocado, Bacon, & Cheddar (ABC). I also bought an order of onion rings. One of my friends got the BBQ brisket sandwich and an order of french fries. Another friend tried the Teriyaki Chicken Bowl. My onion rings were either undercooked and raw or hard and inedible. I think there were only 4 rings that I could actually eat. Not good. While I liked the combination of ingredients on my burger (oh-it came with Ranch instead of mayo), the meat was dry and there was too much sauce. It was a very messy, drippy burger. This is a nice clean space. Good site lines and the bar is around the corner from the ordering area. It looks like they might be moving to a touchscreen ordering system, but on my visit, there was still a human, taking orders and able to answer my questions. While this is a hamburger place, what caught my eye is mentioned that they're hotdog is Vienna beef. Coming from Chicago to me that means a David Berg all beef kosher hotdog. I don't know if that's what this is, if it is then they might want to mention that it's kosher. And actually put up some of the marketing material from David Berg. Anyway, I ordered the hotdog and while I had a choice of four condiments, I only went with three. Yellow mustard, pickled onions, and diced tomatoes. If they had fresh chopped jalapeños on offer, I would've added those, but they only have pickled jalapeños, and those upset my stomach. It would be even better if they had sport peppers from Chicago, but they don't :-( I also ordered the french fries with ketchup, and I also took some fire sauce to sample I took a seat with a number and my food arrived shortly after. The hot dog looks pretty good and is relatively substantial in size. I liked the flavors, but next time I will tell them to go a little easy on the mustard. The french fries are a thick cut fry with that starch coating for a crispy outside. That was first adopted by a Burger King I believe. Dipped in the ketchup they were OK but I think they should bring two ketchup so that there's enough for dipping. I had to go back and ask for a second one. And perhaps I actually could've used three because I also used the french fries to dip in the fire sauce. The fire sauce at first reminded me of Sriracha, but it's something that's going to sit in your stomach for a little while. Take it easy with that in mind. The staff here is friendly and helpful. I could definitely see coming here with some friends after work for a couple drinks and a hamburger or a hotdog. We were in the mood for some good ole fashioned American food so we decided to check out the new spot, the Stand - American classics redefined. We arrived for a late Sunday lunch recently. The restaurant is located in a nice plaza off Capital Expressway in San Jose. Parking is easy and accessible in the large parking lot. The Stand just opened 6 months ago. The modern decor is vibrant and inviting. I enjoyed the American diner ambiance and family friendly vibe. There are plenty of booths, tables, and high tops for dine-in in the restaurant. An abundance of tables are available in the patio as well. A full bar was located in the corner. Plenty of TVs hanging complimented the atmosphere. We ordered a short rib grilled cheese, a Stand burger, a kids Mac & cheese, a glass of Chardonnay, and a regular order of onion rings. Everything was delicious. My short rib grilled cheese had a scrumptious combination of tender rib meat and gooey cheddar cheese. A bit hearty but It was oozing with flavor with every bite. Some the onion rings had huge pieces of onions which was ok. The complimentary dipping sauces went very well with all the food. Overall we enjoyed our experience at the Stand. The service was friendly and helpful. It did take a little longer for the food to come out but that's fine. I thought the price point was more than fair. Lastly the homemade pickle chips and potato chip samples were a nice touch. We hope to be back to try the happy hour and try other food items from the vast menu. read more

Saw the sign NOW OPEN!! and it caught my Yelp Eye! LOL!! first time here and I will be back. They have a big sandwich, burger, bowls and bar selection for those of you looking for a quick bite. Location off Capitol Expressway off Hgwy 87 is a prime area. I could not decide on the fish sandwich or chicken or burger so I started with the basic burger and hot dog and chocolate shake. Taylor was the customer service specialist that took care of me and I was very impressed with the amount of people they have working. The inside is very big. A lot of seats inside and out. It would be perfect for an after school event or after baseball game or any kind of team event. The burger was splendid and so was the hot dog. The bun in the hot dog was kind of stiff and not soft like a usual hot dog bun is?? Maybe that was the brand they use. But I ate it anyway's and will be back. Plenty of free parking. This was my first visit to The Stand. I had the ABC Burger. It was perfectly cooked but it was missing the avocado. When I told the manager she had another one prepared for me and it was fabulous. Let's talk about the FOOD: - My partner got the Ahi Tuna Sandwich which was flavorful, and not fishy tasting at all. I couldn't believe I was eating ahi tuna at first! - My friend got the Mushroom burger and he is a burger person. He gobbled it up and was nodding his head the whole time in happiness. - I got the Stand Burger.. I'm a basic burger gal. But this burger had all the works I could want and the brioche bun was bready perfection. I could legit just eat the bread tbh. - Side dishes like fries and onions- YUM - Thai Milkshake.. YESSS. When I first visited The Stand right after it opened I gave it 5 stars. I thought it was excellent and the service was great. After the grand opening was over though the quality and service decreased steadily. The food is good, and mostly the same flavors, but the service is lacking. The past several times I've gone to The Stand I have found a number of issues. I got the app, but I have to remind the server every time otherwise I don't get the points. It's kind of weird since they pushed it so hard at the beginning and the advertisements often offer double or triple points on certain days. Do they not want me to use it? I often get a cocktail when I'm there. The cocktails have all been good but they take forever to make. The same bartender is usually there and spends most of his time talking to people at the bar. The last time I was there, the bar had two bartenders (I believe they were switching shifts.) It still took over 15 minutes to get our drinks. The food still takes longer. It seems they don't know how to prioritize and get the food done at once. Sometimes we order green beans and they are super hot but the burgers are cold. The last time the burgers were hot but the onion rings were cold and chewy like they had been sitting a while. The food is pretty good. It's not cheap but it's a nice place to go for a meal that isn't fast food, but you can get a cocktail yet it's not super expensive. I'll probably go back but I'm just dreading it getting worse until there's no point in going again. read more

Ambience: bright, spacious, good for groups, modern decor with orange highlights. They offer covered outside and inside dining options. They have a full bar inside. A few LCD TVs to watch sports. Separate multi-user men & women restrooms. Food: *Onion Stack Burger: beef patty, crispy onion strings, cheddar cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, bacon tomato jam, hickory sauce, on a brioche bun (3.5/5). It is a thin patty, so it was hard to taste the seasoning in the burger. But, regardless, this burger had a lot of flavor and textures going on from the other ingredients. Like the crunchiness from the onion strings and from the strips of bacon and bacon tomato jam which was the highlight for me. Also anything with crispy onion strings/rings and hickory sauce, and that's my choice of burger first! The freshness of the lettuce and tomato added to the complete burger experience. *Mac n' Cheese (4/5) - it had good flavor and the bread crumb topping. My wife wished it was served hotter (temperature wise) but personally, I think the pasta held it's shape and cheesiness perfectly this way. Service: Friendly, welcoming. After paying, get your number stand, and they will bring your food to your table. Con: The Stand App if downloaded earns you points/rewards, get free french fries as a first reward. After you verify by email sign up. I didn't receive the email until 7 hours later. That didn't help us. I guess next visit we'll be able to use it. I have been here twice and enjoyed the food. First time, I ordered the mushroom burger and fries to go. I really enjoyed my burger. It was nicely cooked, good flavor, nice toppings. The fries were decent but a bit mushy by the time I got home. For my 2nd visit, I met friends there and we had dinner inside. I had the teriyaki chicken bowl with half rice, half greens. I did not really like the greens but the rice was very flavorful. Chicken was tender and loved the sauce. Lots of other fun stuff in the bowl. Fairly new, this place replaced the Aquis, staff were very energetic and welcoming, and be prepared to bring a jacket because the air conditioning was cranked up. It's currently scorching hot outside so I appreciated the crisp and chill air in here. Food came our fairly quickly. The salad was fresh and the cookie (chocolate chip) was chewy. It's a bit weird that the chili cheese fries came with diced tomatoes but other than that we had no complaints about this place. It's nice to see a new burger spot in the area! We came by on a Saturday night and the place was packed with lots of families and couples, but the open layout and patio kept it from feeling cramped. I was excited to see a new casual but up-scale burger and Americana joint open near our regular haunts. I'm always down for a good burger with pleasant surroundings and the menu and pics on Yelp looked perfect. Unfortunately, the patty of my "Stand" burger was just OK, about the same thickness and flavor of a good fast food burger with none of the plump juiciness I was expecting. This should be their signature dish but instead it was ... OK. Nothing stood out on the menu although to be fair my companion was more pleased with her "ABC" burger. Loved the shake and the (too) small sauces that came with the fries, we got more sauces after asking. This is a great place for a casual date night. We were craving for a burger. This is a great place to be. The space is pretty big with like a lounge/bar like area where you can watch sports. The staff was nice and friendly. It was just a little confusing on where to get utensils. The Stand was pretty good! I love that they give you pickles to snack on while you wait -- such a fun touch. The food quality was solid for the price, and the setup is basically order-at-the-counter and they bring it out, similar to Aquis. Service was okay, nothing amazing but not bad either. Small burger and standard ingredients for $14. Size of the burger is comparable to a shake shack burger, which is $5 dollars less than The Stand. Fire fries were smothered with what seemed like gochujang sauce, no further creative effort put into the sauce. Menu stated fries are "well done" tossed in spicy fire sauce. These fries were not well done (definitely soggy), and were not tossed in the sauce. Instead, it seemed like the fries were put into the box and sauce poured over the fries. My family came here last evening for an early dinner. We used to go to Aqui occasionally since it's near our house, and this kind of felt like a fancier version of Aqui, sort of lol. They surprisingly have a full bar with a list of cocktails, beer, and wine. It's similar to Aqui where you order at the counter, but the servers bring out the food and bus the table for you. Food was quite good, better than I expected honestly since I thought it'd be a typical American quick serve place. Everything we tried was on point. The burger was cooked perfectly and the toppings worked so well together.. great balance of flavors without anything overpowering. The wings had a nice crisp and a subtle kick, perfect if you like a little spice without it being overwhelming. Fries were hot and crispy, exactly how they should be. They've got a solid selection of IPAs and other local beers, which is always a win. The ambiance is great--laid-back and welcoming. Dogs are allowed on the patio, there are TVs outside, and it's a really comfortable spot to hang out. Customer service was excellent! Friendly at the counter, and someone even came by to bus our plates when we were done, which was a nice touch. Bonus: their app is actually really good. The burgers are very good and they have lettuce wraps for those that don't eat bread. The brioche bread is perfect with these burgers. The onion rings are perfectly done and they are light but tasty. The Asian Chicken Chop salad was PERFECT! My son had a Michelada that was also made well. The staff very cool!
