Very large patio with lots of seating
Cindy M.

Patio seating has heaters that turn on to make it cozy and warm for a night al.fresco. Music is softly playing in the background so you don't hear everything from the street traffic or the others talking around you. We started working our way down the line of items on the menu.. Thos time the burger of choice was the French Onion soup. It literally comes with a cup of beef broth smothered with the onions. You can dip the burger if you want extra saucynesss in every bite. Love the Vegan option. I had the falafel wrap. It was filled with crunchy falafel, greens , cucumber, tomato and red onion. It could.ss with a side of tahini hummus..Grab the jalapeno sauce to add. Ordering at the front is a good way to get things started. We have been fortunate to experience friendly service with everyone greeting us as we walk in.. Everything we tried so far is very fresh and taste is on point. If you want a spot to have a good meal with a relaxing atmosphere, you'll do well with choosing a good spot here.

This is the first time we visited The Stand since they took over the location from Aqui's. Initially I thought they are just another typical burger place but I was pleasantly surprised by their wide varieties of choices on the menu. Their service is pretty quick, and the ambiance is very bright and clean. People there all seem to be enjoying themselves. We like the dishes we ordered and will definitely come back again!

Was in the area and was recommended this place by yelp and it didn't disappoint. Very welcoming and friendly staff with great service. It's rare when the establishment is promoting their app on the discounts you can get. Ordered the onion stack burger with no bacon jam and chili cheese fries. It's comes with onion strings, bacon on a brioche bun. No overpowering sauce on the burger and the chili cheese fries were almost perfect. Fries weren't soggy at all and very flavorful. There's a small bar area with a f ew tv to watch the games or fight. Nice burger spot that I'd definitely be back again to visit

Piri-Piri Chicken Bowl and Sweet Potato Fries

You order at the counter, and the staff gives you a number and bring your food to the table. I ordered the Piri-Piri Chicken Bowl and Sweet Potato Fries. The chicken bowl was decent and filling. The sweet potato fries were ok, though they were a bit soft for my preference. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating, making it a nice spot to enjoy a meal. Overall, a solid option for a quick and tasty bite.

The French Onion Soup Burger

Hey there party people Just happened to walk in to an American burger joint called The Stand. It was counter service with an almost sports bar vibe. It was very clean and the wait staff were like hawks circling to take you plate away. Almost made you feel like you needed to get out... The food was average. We got the French onion soup burger...I know sounds weird but it was tasty with a cup of French onion soup Au jus. The onions rings were ok but nothing to write home about. I did see some salads go by that looked really good. If I were to go back I would definitely go with a salad before having the burgers. Be kind to one another

IMHO I've been to another Stand in Santa Clara, but this was my first visit to this new location. My friend and I each ordered The Stand burger plus an order of small onion rings to share. I was asked for my choice of dips and asked for two containers of ketchup. We grabbed some free pickles and chips from a tray on the counter. When our burgers arrived, I asked for to-go boxes since I knew I'd be eating only half and bringing the rest home. The kind server, Frankie (?) brought us each a knife to cut our burgers and two take-out boxes! I unwrapped my burger to cut it and was surprised to feel the top bun was cold as if it had just been taken out of the fridge. No burger should sit in a cold bun. However, the burger was tasty but messy to eat. I felt like the bun fell apart too easily as I ate it. Is the bun supposed to be toasted? I don't know... Onion rings were good. Service was friendly. Will I return? Probably, but next time I'll ask if the bun could be slightly toasted.

An upscale, american fast food chain forsure. My friend and I came here a week ago after walking comm hills. The Santa Clara location was what I had bookedmarked for a long time, but didn't get a chance to try it yet! We took at least 10 minutes to look at the menu and there were so many options! They also offer free house chips, and pickles at the register as well. I ended up getting a jalapeno burger and my friend got their grilled cheese (forgot the meat name). It was definitely filling. I initially asked for a lettuce wrap but dont think the cashier's knew what I was asking for. I tried to use in n out as an example and they told me it might be hard for the chefs to understand so whatever. I ended up eating 1 1/2 of the buns. My friend enjoyed their grilled cheese and 1 was enough for her. The fries were free if you download the app! I didn't expect this spot to serve you the food if you dine in. That was really nice.

Sweet Potato Fries. The bag and cardboard container were pretty greasy.

I've been wanting to try The Stand for a while now and finally ordered dinner from them via DoorDash tonight. It wasn't good. I ordered a burger with the patty cooked medium, but it was well-done and extremely salty. I couldn't eat it. I also ordered sweet potato fries and the bag they came in was so drenched in oil it was a bit shocking. I could only eat a few of them due to the heavy grease. Both items were lukewarm even though it didn't take long for delivery. The chocolate chip cookie was okay. The only thing that tasted really good was the Coke fountain drink. I don't think I will try The Stand again.

The Stand has been on our list of places to check out as it came highly recommended by friends. The place was busy on a Friday night. They only had one person taking orders even though they had a long line. The young girl did her best, but they need to have two people on the registers on a busy Friday night. I had the Onion Stack Burger. It was tasty and onion complimented and did not overpower. The onions rings were cooked perfectly. We ordered sweet potato fries, but got regular fries instead. They quickly fixed their mistake and let us keep the regular fries. This place had a cool vibe to grab a good bite of food and meet up with family and friends.

Finally opened a Stand near my house and I'm super stoked, the inside is super big with plenty of seating. What I love about this place is that they have such a wide variety of menu options from burgers, hot dogs, salads and more. I wasn't in the mood for a burger which I have had before here. I ended up getting the Southwest Chicken salad, it was huge and had so much flavor. I didn't expect it to hit but it did! Being so diverse in menu options and each item is pretty good means a lot. Was also cool that they give a sample of their chips, they were so good. I should have ordered some on the side. I'm assuming my family would come to this location often now so I'll be back!

The Stand Burger was solid and satisfying. The beef patty tasted fresh, and the toppings were fresh as well, which pulled the whole burger together. I also enjoyed the fries, which came out crispy and cooked just right. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Indoor and outdoor seating available. There is also plenty of parking.

Hot dog with condiments in the front and french fries in the back

This is a nice clean space. Good site lines and the bar is around the corner from the ordering area. It looks like they might be moving to a touchscreen ordering system, but on my visit, there was still a human, taking orders and able to answer my questions. While this is a hamburger place, what caught my eye is mentioned that they're hotdog is Vienna beef. Coming from Chicago to me that means a David Berg all beef kosher hotdog. I don't know if that's what this is, if it is then they might want to mention that it's kosher. And actually put up some of the marketing material from David Berg. Anyway, I ordered the hotdog and while I had a choice of four condiments, I only went with three. Yellow mustard, pickled onions, and diced tomatoes. If they had fresh chopped jalapeños on offer, I would've added those, but they only have pickled jalapeños, and those upset my stomach. It would be even better if they had sport peppers from Chicago, but they don't :-( I also ordered the french fries with ketchup, and I also took some fire sauce to sample I took a seat with a number and my food arrived shortly after. The hot dog looks pretty good and is relatively substantial in size. I liked the flavors, but next time I will tell them to go a little easy on the mustard. The french fries are a thick cut fry with that starch coating for a crispy outside. That was first adopted by a Burger King I believe. Dipped in the ketchup they were OK but I think they should bring two ketchup so that there's enough for dipping. I had to go back and ask for a second one. And perhaps I actually could've used three because I also used the french fries to dip in the fire sauce. The fire sauce at first reminded me of Sriracha, but it's something that's going to sit in your stomach for a little while. Take it easy with that in mind. The staff here is friendly and helpful. I could definitely see coming here with some friends after work for a couple drinks and a hamburger or a hotdog. Next time I am here I would probably try the avocado, bacon and cheese hamburger.

We were in the mood for some good ole fashioned American food so we decided to check out the new spot, the Stand - American classics redefined. We arrived for a late Sunday lunch recently. The restaurant is located in a nice plaza off Capital Expressway in San Jose. Parking is easy and accessible in the large parking lot. The Stand just opened 6 months ago. The modern decor is vibrant and inviting. I enjoyed the American diner ambiance and family friendly vibe. There are plenty of booths, tables, and high tops for dine-in in the restaurant. An abundance of tables are available in the patio as well. A full bar was located in the corner. Plenty of TVs hanging complimented the atmosphere. We ordered a short rib grilled cheese, a Stand burger, a kids Mac & cheese, a glass of Chardonnay, and a regular order of onion rings. Everything was delicious. My short rib grilled cheese had a scrumptious combination of tender rib meat and gooey cheddar cheese. A bit hearty but It was oozing with flavor with every bite. Some the onion rings had huge pieces of onions which was ok. The complimentary dipping sauces went very well with all the food. Overall we enjoyed our experience at the Stand. The service was friendly and helpful. It did take a little longer for the food to come out but that's fine. I thought the price point was more than fair. Lastly the homemade pickle chips and potato chip samples were a nice touch. We hope to be back to try the happy hour and try other food items from the vast menu.

What meat is used in chili?

Most likely beef, as that's the standard chili meat in like 99% of places. The only other option would be turkey, but usually, they'd advertise that as such to relate to the healthy crowd.

The diavola pasta had a great texture and a flavorful sauce, although it felt a little simple since there weren't many other ingredients mixed in. Hey there party People…read more Decided to venture into Willow Glen today on the hunt for something new to try. Boy howdy did we hit the Mother Load with "The Table". We hit the Brunch hour and the place was rocking. We were able to sit right down amazingly. There is a fabulous patio to people watch and enjoy the California weather. Our server Charles was really great. He walked us through the menu giving us the 911 on watch to order. Most of the plates were perfect shareable bites. Making it easy to try multiple plates and really get your inner Foodie on. We started with the Seasonal Banana Pancakes with crushed walnuts and cinnamon maple syrup. Inside the pancakes were fresh bananas and the walnuts were crushed very small but added a great texture. Moving on to the Chicago Steak sandwich don't get confused but in Chicago they refer to Roast Beef as steak. The Au Jus dip was very flavorful without being a salt bomb. Loved the potato roll they used all round a killer sandwich. Going a little outside the box we tried the Jerk Chicken Sandwich. The pineapple slaw with this amazing peppery chutney type sauce played so well with the acid of the pineapple. Another must have sandwich. I ask you how can you go to a new restaurant and not have some dessert. With everything else being so good our expectations were pretty high and we were not disappointed. The Giant Profiterole is exactly that GIANT and stuffed with White Chocolate Gelato and Hot Chocolate Sauce that you can drizzle over the top. To fricken die for good. If you are in Willow Glen and you don't stop here you are missing out on something wonderful. Be kind to one another

When we were seated, we were given a list of items that were not available. I originally wanted to try the pancakes but ended up ordering the chicken sandwich instead. This was genuinely one of the worst chicken sandwiches I have ever had. It was extremely gristly, fatty, and made with dark meat, which felt like an odd choice for a chicken sandwich. I'm not sure why this cut of chicken was used. The fries were alright, but they did not come with the sandwich and cost an additional $5. Our total came to almost $90 for three entrees with no beverages. I was especially frustrated because my sandwich was inedible. For the price and quality, I will not be returning and would not recommend this place.

Not my personal cup of tea, but they do also offer sake and a few beers also. The first time we went, we ordered the arancini, bucatini, and the heritage pork katsu. I am a big advocate for trying new things every time I go to a restaurant, but it was so good I ordered the same thing the second time I went. Arancini is flavored with Japanese curry with creamy fontina in the center topped off with kimchi mayo. Holy f. These quite literally put the traditional Italian ones to shame (sorry not sorry). Next was the bucatini. It had tom yum butter, lime, basil- all the fix ins of what you want from tom yum flavors with the luxuriousness added from the butter. It was sinful. Last and certainly not least, is the pork katsu. I cannot even remember the last time I ordered a pork katsu, but something told me to order it. Thank God I did, as it quite literally changed my life. If they ever take it off the menu I am not sure I would be OK. It is crispy and is swimming in this koji butter, but the key is that it is NOT greasy. I quite literally think about it all the time. To the point where I had it twice in a week. Service was great, bartenders are so friendly. The place is cute and vibrant. Keep in mind it is small- limited seating inside and a small patio outside. But so worth the wait. It aint called Goodtime for no reason!

Ambiance 5 Wine 5…read more Service 5 Food 5 So why the 4 rating... TBH there's a good chance that I'll adjust it soon, but if I could give a 4.5 I would. First the knock, and to be fair, it's probably just an opinion / idea. Given the birth of natural wine and the South Bay, it would be wonderful to see a curated selection of tasting flights, no more than two or three options with anywhere from 3 to 6 wine wines each, priced accordingly. Maintaining a proper wine menu when all you do is natural wine can certainly be a challenge. If you wine flights depending on what you have would certainly elevate the customer experience by educating more people natural wine and helping them make better choices when it comes to a bottle purchase. I paid $61 for a bottle that was recommended, and at that price point I wonder how many people who are new to natural wine might be turned off. Chris was a wonderful host and certainly the right person to engage with customers around their various wines. Given how small the space is and how busy it can get, a weekly tasting flight menu might be a good way to engage those customers who are waiting to order at the bar and perhaps even spark a more productive conversation with Chris. We ordered the peach and ricotta dish with Thai basil... wow, a wonderful surprise. Peaches are always battling in and out of the top spot on my summer fruit list and this combination was downright dirty and delicious! We also ordered the raw oysters with watermelon mignonette. Another wow! I didn't expect the little spice kick and it was a perfect pairing to the sweetness of the watermelon. If anyone knows the recipe let me know, I'd bottle that mignonette and take it with me wherever I have oysters!! Overall, a great experience and I most definitely look forward to going back!

We dined at Lira on November 14th. The Service (or Lack Thereof): The Menu Shortage: We arrived for our 6:45 PM reservation only to be told by the manager that they didn't have enough menus. We were told they'd bring them "later." Ignored for 35+ Minutes: We sat with nothing but water for over half an hour. To make matters worse, a table of six was seated after us and received their full entrees while we were completely ignored. The Drink Mess: After 40 minutes, the server told me they were out of ingredients for my drink. When I picked a second option, she tried to insist I wanted a drink with celery (my most despised vegetable). We thankfully stopped her before it was made, but the incompetence was staggering. The Food Fiasco: An hour into our reservation, someone dropped off a scallop dish. A while later, a server asked if I'd "received the scallops yet," and I realized the plate I was eating wasn't even intended for our table. We were so starving that my husband and I just shared them. Once we finished, the server finally asked my husband if he "still wanted his meal or if he wanted to cancel it." I finally lost my cool - of course he still wanted his dinner! The Aftermath: My husband didn't realize that my friends had actually made a separate reservation to take me back to this same spot the following night for a second birthday celebration. After this performance, there was no way I was going to step foot in this building again or give them another cent of our money. I texted my friends from the table to cancel those reservations and book elsewhere. With service this disorganized and insulting, this restaurant won't be in business long. Super disappointing. Don't waste your special occasions here. *Edit - it looks like Lira has closed. With the service we experienced, I am not surprised in the slightest. I thought some dishes were great; the wagyu burger was decadent. Other dishes were not that special. The scallops didn't taste too fresh (likely frozen) and combining them with hummus didn't quite work. The side of bread was practically insulting. $5 for stale table bread was a surprise. Dishes arrived very late; we were nearly forgotten when we tried to order, and then after ordering, we waited 40 minutes between appetizers and the main course. Not because they were cooking it; they just forgot we were there and when they brought out the dishes, the scallops were no longer just-cooked, and the burger had been sitting for a bit. No apology, just an acknowledgment it was late, and no discount (not even on the stale bread). They offered us wine, we said we didn't drink, and they just moved on. I debated a lot about how to review this. It's my personal experience that was disappointing, and I'm glad some reviews are very upbeat. But there's a handful of reviews noting frustrating delays... and that needs to be worked on.
