The seasoning on the pork reminds me of how they tasted back then. Very savory almost to the point of too much sodium but saved the scent of 5 spice. Honest review here with no bias. I've had a lot of roast pork in my life. I live close by but had no idea this place existed and I was there because of the new opening of the Asian supermarket. I ordered two plates. The banh hoi heo quay and the banh mi heo quay. Obviously it's all about the pork quality. -extremely fatty, like 80/20 fat/meat ratio. -it had no traditional heo quay flavor. -It tasted like they just threw it onto the flame without marination. -skin is crispy. -the pork itself is super tough and chewy. I'm sorry but I can't recommend this place with so many options in San Jose. I asked the lady next to me what she thought of her bowl of vit quay noodles. I decided to take myself out to lunch after dropping off towels at the San Jose Animal Care Center. They accept cards! They have a large menu with offerings that can satisfy any cravings. You want noodle soups? You want rice? You want BBQ? You want sandwiches? I was quite lost initially because I wanted to order everything. The lady that helped me was so kind and patient. At first I was going to take it home, but changed my mind after I realized I did not want to heat it up. I ordered their special of the day: mi heo quay va xa xiu (egg noddle soup w/ BBQ and roast pork) and a side of Chinese donut stick. It was heaven. I also ordered eggrolls (2 per order) to-go. The lady managing the kitchen apologized for the wait and told me that the eggrolls aren't crispy yet but I told her it was ok. I did not mind non-crispy eggrolls. I cannot wait to come back. Love this place for heo quay! I like that it's the pork belly pieces with crispy skin. I've been here several times in the last couple weeks because I just couldn't get enough of it! The banh mi heo quay is small but it's pretty tasty with the mayo and pate. The bread isn't the best, but the heo quay makes up for it. I ordered one of the combo party trays from Quay 168 and it did not disappoint! I liked that the meat also came with the vegetables, vermicelli rice noodle sheets (banh hoi), scallion oil, and fish sauce--I did not have to prepare anything and it made the party much less stressful. Placing and picking up the order was also easy; the workers were friendly and communicative. Most importantly, the food was amazing! Found this spot on yelp and and decided to give it a shot. I got the pork and sugarcane with vermicelli and was extremely satisfied. The downside is the price was more expensive than advertised on their in store menu. I paid about $18 per plate. I also ordered a bang mi Cali style which included pate however they did not add the pate. Overall it was nice finding this spot and I'll probably try them again! read more

Saw this spot pop up on Yelp and decided to give it a shot! plus, it's super close to home. I'm always on the hunt for good roast duck, and it's tough to find a solid spot nearby. The mi sui cao was decent, and while the duck had great flavor, the pieces I got were just okay. But the banh hoi nem nuong (sugarcane pork) totally made up for it....so good! Definitely planning to come back and give the duck another try. Also, the staff here are incredibly kind and accommodating. Big points for that! read more

A coworker told me about the roasted duck how they don't serve it like this anywhere else in San Jose. The reason why the duck is different is because they roast it with a leaf. Roasted duck (lá mắt mật). It's a Clausena India leaf which makes it taste different. I picked up a tray and delivered it to my relatives house for a party and when I got back after doing errands it was long gone. It has an earthy taste to it. I picked up the rice plate too with the roasted pork and bbq pork. This place is new so it's nice and clean. The decor is bright and they have many dishes you can try. I heard about this place from facebook! Their mi go, which is egg noodles with broth and pieces of crispy pork and slices of bbq pork. It actually the best mi i had in a while. The service is something unique, something that Im not use to. But the staff are nice. You would need to order at the counter first, so make sure you know what you want to eat before heading up there or check the menu. Once your food is ready, they will call your name or number listed. However if you guys want water, make sure to bring your own water bottle because water is 2 dollars and the mi was 17 dollars a bowl, if i remember correctly. But after ordering, you can find seating whether it's inside or outside. Outside has plastic chairs and tables. It reminds me of Vietnam from the outside furniture. Inside has table and benches but not a lots of tables inside. You can order drinks like sugar cane and black tea here too if you guys like drinks with your meal! read more

Firstly, if you're like me and love authentic vietnamese food, but don't speak vietnamese, this is already the place for you. The staff is welcoming, helpful, and the picture menu on the wall makes it easy to order!! Food was fresh and so good. I had the roast pork with vermicelli and the single order was enough for 2 adults (or one teenager). For me, the food was perfectly seasoned so that it wouldn't be too salty with the fish sauce. I do wish the food was warmer and not room temperature, but maybe it was the time i came. Clean spot for quick eating and lots of parking. Great party tray options too. I ordered a pork and rice plate. The pork was cold. However, the skin of the pork was crispy. The sauce that it came with which I'm assuming is fish sauce wasn't flavorful.
