    Döner Kebab - New!
    Diane W.

After a an hour and a half of retail therapy, I started getting hungry. I decided to try Sajj Mediterranean. When I walked in I was greeted by the employees. This was my first time here. I looked at the menu above and got some help from the kind lady working behind the counter. It's basically the same concept as Chipotle but Mediterranean style. You pick your protein and what you want it in. You can have it in a lavash wrap, a pita bread, salad bowl or rice bowl. Their protein options are Falafel, chicken shawarma, steak shawarma, doner kebob, or pomegranate chicken. You then pick what spreads you want, what vegetable toppings you like and lastly what sauce/dressing you want on it. All are included in the one price. I chose the doner kebab in a lavash wrap. Doner kebab is a combination of beef and lamb, similar to gyro meat, cut up into small pieces , wish spices. I added hummus, tzatziki, tomato cucumber salad, sumac onions, pickled turnips, pickles, and Kalamata olives. I picked tahini for my sauce. I also got a bottle of water. I paid for my items and found a table to eat my creation. It was absolutely delicious. So many delicious flavors. It did get a little messy towards the bottom of the wrap, but I didn't mind. I took extra napkins just for that reason. The doner kebab was very flavorful and juicy. It paired perfectly with all the items I added to the wrap. I would definitely get this again. Besides being delicious, this was a very healthy choice. I highly recommend trying this place out. Next time I'd like to try the chicken shawarma salad bowl.

You can customize your order--choosing from pita, falafel, shawarma, salad bowl, rice bowl, freekeh bowl or couscous bowl. I had the pomegranate chicken salad bowl topped with pickled cucumbers, cabbage slaw, diced beets, avocado, feta cheese, and tahini sauce. My hubby ordered the SAJJ Wrap with chicken shawarma. Our food was fresh, well-seasoned, and delicious. We'd definitely come back if we're in the area again.

Went here for lunch on a Thursday while I was on shift! They have a first responder discount as well as a student meal! Free soup, pita chips, and drink with your entree! Food is so fresh and there is a lot of variety. I got the chicken shawarma and it was super flavorful. I really liked their strawberry lemonade as well. Service was excellent and the staff is all very friendly! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant has nice stools and tall tables for you to eat at if you choose to dine in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I ordered to go at this place because I heard it was similar to cava. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior was cute; I would've ate here if I didn't get take out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would say it did satisfy my cava craving. I got the chicken shwarma with cucumber tomato, red peppers and tzaziki sauce. The ingredients tasted really fresh and yummy! The chicken had good seasoning and was pretty tender. It lasts me two meals because of the great portioning. It has pretty good value and I'd definitely come back here for a healthy feeling meal.

The steak shawarma was good except for the steak. It had a gamey and livery taste that I wasn't a fan of, as I was expecting a grilled flavor. The fries were crispy, but just okay. The pita chips, on the other hand, were crunchy and paired well with the hummus.

Quick and easy Mediterranean place. Build your own bowl, wraps, etc. Food tastes fresh and lots of sauce to your liking. Friendly and welcoming staff! I got the steak shawarma bowl with turmeric rice. The steak seasoned well and was soft but didn't have that rotisserie char. The eggplant and cauliflower were tasty. The cold toppings tasted fresh. Hot peri peri sauce had a small kick. The pita chips seasoned well and were fried perfectly. It was crispy and wasn't too hard. Hummus was average. The Dubai chocolate was too sweet for me but had good pistachio flavor in between. Meal also comes with a cup of lentil soup which was hot and full of lentil flavor. Would come back here for quick and easy Mediterranean food. Plenty of parking

This is one of my favorite spots for lunch when shopping in the area. My toddler loves the kids meal and thats a big win for me. My husband and I like the build you're own bowl style restaurants. The service is great. We'll be back for lunch soon.

i decided to stop by here because i was told it is similar to cava. i'm normally the type to order online because being met with so many options is overwhelming for me in person, but i decided to just order in person here since it was my first time. the lady that prepared my order was very sweet and did a great job of explaining the establishment and recommending me options. i got the chicken shawarma bowl and the toppings were, in fact, a bit overwhelming because there were so many options. they are unlimited, so i just decided to get a little bit of everything LOL. your order comes with a side of lentil soup. i also got their homemade strawberry lemonade. my total was $20.18! the bowls are very filling and fresh. i'd say you can split it into 2-3 meals. honestly, i haven't had cava in a fat minute but i'd recommend sajj to anyone who asks.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Friendly service, clean restaurant and yummy food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Lots of choices on how to fill your bowl and the complimentary soup cup is a nice way to start or add to the meal. I also was able to try the viral Dubai Chocolate I've been hearing about. Expensive for the amount you get but cheaper than buying a bar! It was too sweet for my taste and I would have preferred more pistachio flavor but now I know what people are talking about!

No Cava grill in the bay so this is the closest thing to it! I like the concept of the Mediterranean build a bowl with high quality ingredients. They've got a plethora of items to add to your bowl which is nice. The combinations work well for the most part, but I will say the sauces can get a little greasy so don't get too many of them. It's also a thoughtful gesture to include the complimentary soup!

dubai chocolate- I do not recommend buying it. It doesn't taste like dubai chocolate.
    Lan T.

The food is standard SAJJ, as you would expect. The reason I am giving 3 stars is because of the service. I picked up an online order and it took 15 minutes longer than the scheduled pick up time. 15 minutes is not a long time, but I noticed they were fulfilling orders that came after mine. When I asked about my order the 2nd time, it ended up being the bowls of food that were by the register, but they didn't finish packing it. I guess they forgot about it. Also, I got the dubai chocolate and it was not good. I've had Dubai chocolate from Dubai, and the one at SAJJ does not taste good and was no where close to the taste of dubai chocolate.

It's my first time to try SAJJ and I'm glad that I did. I'd say this is the Mediterranean version of poke bowl for me. It's a build your own style. You line up, tell them what you want for your bowl, and then bring it to your table. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Set up is perfect if you're busy and on-the-go.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The chicken shawarma bowl is tasty and satisfying, with the garlic sauce and eggplant. Adding extra feta as topping surely elevates the Mediterranean taste even more. The bowl size is big. I also added the lentil soup and it's a nice warm side on a chilly day. It's the right amount of consistency for me. This meal is around $25. I guess that's the new average meal cost everywhere if you want a good food plus drinks and sides. Glad I now have an added option if I'm craving Mediterranean food.

    Mark Y.

Had a craving for Mediterranean style fast food and found this place nearby which was on point! Here you can build your own whether it's a wrap or a variety of bowls or have it built for you too. I chose my own rice bowl and the base is fluffy, turmeric rice (I asked for extra!) the. got the marinated chicken shawarma. They have six proteins including gluten free options. For spread I got the garlic sauce and tzatziki. You can add as little or do the nearly full meal deal which I did and included garbanzo beans, mixed greens, tomato cucumber salad, cherry peppers, pickled cukes, cabbage slaw, olives, avocados, and pickled turnips. Topped it with tahini sauce, balsamic vinaigrette and hot peri peri sauce. I got a side of warm pita bread. The manager also offered me a cup of split pea soup! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Service was great and the interior was modern and very clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Every dish is seasoned perfectly and not overly salted. I've tried just about everything on the menu and the meat is always tender. Vegetables here are top quality as well, which compliments the dishes nicely. And the green yogurt sauce is spicy! In a good way. I usually order an extra with the biryani plates, because *some* is just never enough. Their mango lassi is super mango-ey. I don't know what kind of mangoes go into this drink, but it has the most sweet, tart, and ripe fruitiness (emphasis on fruitiness), and the yogurt in it adds good balance. Perfect drink. There is a good variety of items to choose from, so I don't get bored eating here. You can tell everything is cooked fresh on a daily basis as well. Don't sleep on the desserts either. After trying baklava at many restaurants around San Jose, I regard Gulzaar Halaal's as my personal favorite. Crispy layers, firm yet chewy bottom, and never stale. Perfect balance of sweet, nutty and spiced. My favorite dessert though has to be Kanafeh. Soft-ish, melty sweet cheese (with rose water, I think?). Ask for it warmed. I've always felt relaxed when eating in the restaurant. Tables are frequently cleaned. The owner is very attentive, making sure customers are happy with everything. Their interactions with people are always very respectful and kind. Last but not least, the bathroom is clean, neat and tidy.

I was kicking myself after leaving for not remembering to ask for no onion, only to discover that, thankfully, they didn't put raw onion on it! There was a good balance of crispy and mushy fries. Tastes really good with the toum and the tahini sauce. The wrap is a bit dry but the flavors are still good. I think I do prefer the chicken over the beef/lamb mainly for the tahini sauce. The service is kind of just ok. I'm baaaack with another review! I'll keep this one short since I've been writing stories in my…read moreprevious reviews. Let's get into it. Double Combo Plate - Turmeric Rice - Chicken Shawarma and Gyro Beef - The Works (Everything included) - Tzatziki sauce - Falafel (Side) - Waffle Fries (Side) Okay, the presentation of the combo plate wasn't the most aesthetically pleasing, but I looked past it. Unfortunately, the chicken and beef were lacking in flavor and were pretty dry. The portions were generous, though the gyro beef was sliced pretty thin. The veggies were actually fresh, which was a plus. The hummus was on the lighter side flavor-wise, while the Baha Ghanouj had a solid roasted aftertaste. The Achilles spread was... interesting. It was very fatty with a garlic aftertaste. It just wasn't my thang. The waffle fries were cool. They were fried well and had a good crunch, but nothing special. The falafel, though, was pretty disappointing. I'm not sure if I just got a bad batch. They were very crunchy, but had a weird dish-soap aftertaste that I couldn't get past. I couldn't finish the rest. Sorry, but I'll be on the lookout for another Mediterranean spot.
