You can customize your order--choosing from pita, falafel, shawarma, salad bowl, rice bowl, freekeh bowl or couscous bowl. I had the pomegranate chicken salad bowl topped with pickled cucumbers, cabbage slaw, diced beets, avocado, feta cheese, and tahini sauce. My hubby ordered the SAJJ Wrap with chicken shawarma. Our food was fresh, well-seasoned, and delicious. We'd definitely come back if we're in the area again.

Went here for lunch on a Thursday while I was on shift! They have a first responder discount as well as a student meal! Free soup, pita chips, and drink with your entree! Food is so fresh and there is a lot of variety. I got the chicken shawarma and it was super flavorful. I really liked their strawberry lemonade as well. Service was excellent and the staff is all very friendly! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant has nice stools and tall tables for you to eat at if you choose to dine in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I ordered to go at this place because I heard it was similar to cava. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior was cute; I would've ate here if I didn't get take out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would say it did satisfy my cava craving. I got the chicken shwarma with cucumber tomato, red peppers and tzaziki sauce. The ingredients tasted really fresh and yummy! The chicken had good seasoning and was pretty tender. It lasts me two meals because of the great portioning. It has pretty good value and I'd definitely come back here for a healthy feeling meal.

The steak shawarma was good except for the steak. It had a gamey and livery taste that I wasn't a fan of, as I was expecting a grilled flavor. The fries were crispy, but just okay. The pita chips, on the other hand, were crunchy and paired well with the hummus.

Quick and easy Mediterranean place. Build your own bowl, wraps, etc. Food tastes fresh and lots of sauce to your liking. Friendly and welcoming staff! I got the steak shawarma bowl with turmeric rice. The steak seasoned well and was soft but didn't have that rotisserie char. The eggplant and cauliflower were tasty. The cold toppings tasted fresh. Hot peri peri sauce had a small kick. The pita chips seasoned well and were fried perfectly. It was crispy and wasn't too hard. Hummus was average. The Dubai chocolate was too sweet for me but had good pistachio flavor in between. Meal also comes with a cup of lentil soup which was hot and full of lentil flavor. Would come back here for quick and easy Mediterranean food. Plenty of parking

This is one of my favorite spots for lunch when shopping in the area. My toddler loves the kids meal and thats a big win for me. My husband and I like the build you're own bowl style restaurants. The service is great. We'll be back for lunch soon.

i decided to stop by here because i was told it is similar to cava. i'm normally the type to order online because being met with so many options is overwhelming for me in person, but i decided to just order in person here since it was my first time. the lady that prepared my order was very sweet and did a great job of explaining the establishment and recommending me options. i got the chicken shawarma bowl and the toppings were, in fact, a bit overwhelming because there were so many options. they are unlimited, so i just decided to get a little bit of everything LOL. your order comes with a side of lentil soup. i also got their homemade strawberry lemonade. my total was $20.18! the bowls are very filling and fresh. i'd say you can split it into 2-3 meals. honestly, i haven't had cava in a fat minute but i'd recommend sajj to anyone who asks.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Friendly service, clean restaurant and yummy food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Lots of choices on how to fill your bowl and the complimentary soup cup is a nice way to start or add to the meal. I also was able to try the viral Dubai Chocolate I've been hearing about. Expensive for the amount you get but cheaper than buying a bar! It was too sweet for my taste and I would have preferred more pistachio flavor but now I know what people are talking about!

No Cava grill in the bay so this is the closest thing to it! I like the concept of the Mediterranean build a bowl with high quality ingredients. They've got a plethora of items to add to your bowl which is nice. The combinations work well for the most part, but I will say the sauces can get a little greasy so don't get too many of them. It's also a thoughtful gesture to include the complimentary soup!

dubai chocolate- I do not recommend buying it. It doesn't taste like dubai chocolate.

The food is standard SAJJ, as you would expect. The reason I am giving 3 stars is because of the service. I picked up an online order and it took 15 minutes longer than the scheduled pick up time. 15 minutes is not a long time, but I noticed they were fulfilling orders that came after mine. When I asked about my order the 2nd time, it ended up being the bowls of food that were by the register, but they didn't finish packing it. I guess they forgot about it. Also, I got the dubai chocolate and it was not good. I've had Dubai chocolate from Dubai, and the one at SAJJ does not taste good and was no where close to the taste of dubai chocolate.

It's my first time to try SAJJ and I'm glad that I did. I'd say this is the Mediterranean version of poke bowl for me. It's a build your own style. You line up, tell them what you want for your bowl, and then bring it to your table. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Set up is perfect if you're busy and on-the-go.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The chicken shawarma bowl is tasty and satisfying, with the garlic sauce and eggplant. Adding extra feta as topping surely elevates the Mediterranean taste even more. The bowl size is big. I also added the lentil soup and it's a nice warm side on a chilly day. It's the right amount of consistency for me. This meal is around $25. I guess that's the new average meal cost everywhere if you want a good food plus drinks and sides. Glad I now have an added option if I'm craving Mediterranean food.

Had a craving for Mediterranean style fast food and found this place nearby which was on point! Here you can build your own whether it's a wrap or a variety of bowls or have it built for you too. I chose my own rice bowl and the base is fluffy, turmeric rice (I asked for extra!) the. got the marinated chicken shawarma. They have six proteins including gluten free options. For spread I got the garlic sauce and tzatziki. You can add as little or do the nearly full meal deal which I did and included garbanzo beans, mixed greens, tomato cucumber salad, cherry peppers, pickled cukes, cabbage slaw, olives, avocados, and pickled turnips. Topped it with tahini sauce, balsamic vinaigrette and hot peri peri sauce. I got a side of warm pita bread. The manager also offered me a cup of split pea soup! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Service was great and the interior was modern and very clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The food was enjoyable, but the service left much to be desired. The staff needs to be more attentive to customer preferences when fulfilling orders. My server was rushed, inattentive, and seemed disinterested in listening, which led to me receiving and eating items I hadn't ordered or wanted. This lack of care significantly impacted the overall dining experience. Have been going to this place a lot but now I do not know . Disappointed.

The big chicken dish was good, but the potatoes came out a bit hard, and it's not my favorite to eat a lot of chicken with bone-in pieces. My partner loved this however. We also got the hot lemon honey tea and a passionfruit yogurt drink. Liked both- the lemon honey drink was super sweet though, and I think you'll like the yogurt drink if you like kefir. Both meats were juicy, flavorful, and tender but if I had to pick one it would hands down by the beef steak. One thing to note about the dining experience is that it was uncomfortably hot inside the restaurant. I went on a summer day when it was in the high 80s and the restaurant didn't have AC or a fan... it was a lot warmer inside the restaurant than it was outside. I felt so relieved when I stepped outside.

It did have a lot of sugar, but it was pretty similar flavor-wise to Indian chai (sans milk), so it paired very well with our order. We ordered the chicken suqaar and the beef wrap. We opted for the chapati (sabaayad in Somali) with the chicken suqaar, but would love to try their rice or their version of injera during our next visit! The menu at first glance looks kinda confusing since they have Lunch in big letters on one side with a ton of their dishes and Dinner on the other side with the remainder of the dishes, making it seem like a few items are available during this time... but the Lunch portion just states that it comes with a side of rice, pasta, chapati, or injera (which is the same as Dinner...) so kind of an interesting stylistic choice there, but this is to say that everything on the menu is available the whole time they're open. The meals were so flavorful- the chicken suqaar had a ton of onions, carrots, chicken, green-bean like veggie, and spices, and was served with a green sauce that had kind of a habanero or jalapeno taste to it. The beef wrap was huge and I only ate half of one for dinner- it was flavored so well and the beef was cooked perfectly. This came with a side of the green sauce and a white sauce. I'd love to return and try their injera with chicken, kay kay chicken, beef suqaar or beef steak, and their sambusas! I saw some on another diner's plate and it looked sizable and filling. Jubba is located right next to a VTA light rail and an apartment complex so there's decent foot traffic, but overall, a wonderful place to try and eat!

I finally decided to give it a try after hearing about the restaurant from food reviewer Dave fiore text. As someone who absolutely loves tacos and is always on the hunt for great local taco spots, I was excited to see how this place compared to some of my favorites. I ordered four different tacos, and overall, they were pretty good. They weren't bad by any means, but they also didn't quite blow me away. The meat was cooked well, the tortillas were fresh, and the tacos had good flavor. The salsa was decent too, although I personally prefer something with a little more kick. Everyone has different tastes, so this is just my opinion. One thing I really appreciated was how clean and organized the restaurant was. You can tell they take pride in keeping the dining area nice and welcoming. The staff was friendly, and my food came out quickly. It's always a good sign when a restaurant pays attention to both cleanliness and customer service. I've eaten at a lot of taco places throughout the Bay Area, so I naturally compare every new place to some of my favorites. While El Halal Mexican Restaurant didn't make the top of my list, I still had a good experience and I'm glad I finally gave it a shot. Not every restaurant has to be your favorite to be worth visiting. I also like supporting family-owned businesses because I know how much hard work goes into running a local restaurant. They deserve credit for creating a clean, welcoming place and serving quality food. Will I come back? Maybe. If I do, I'd probably try something different on the menu instead of the tacos. Sometimes a restaurant's best dish isn't the first thing you order, and I'd be interested in seeing what else they have to offer. Overall, I'd give El Halal Mexican Restaurant a solid 4 out of 5 stars. It was a good experience, I'm happy I finally got to try it, and if you're in the Willow Glen area, it's worth stopping by and deciding for yourself.

We've found Manakish Oven to be a solid Mediterranean food place with good portions for the price. Over the times that we've visited, we've tried their manakish, shawarma bowls, shawarma wraps, and baklava. - Manakish - We've tried their lahm bajin and their tri tip shawarma manakish. Their lahm bajin manakish is a classic/more traditional manakish. Their ingredient list may seem simple, but it's full of good flavors and they do not skimp on the toppings. Their tri tip shawarma manakish is something we'd recommend if you're not feeling to adventurous and want to stick with more basic/modern flavors. They also don't skimp on the toppings with this one. Expect the manakish to be thin like NY thin crust pizza, but maybe more soft/doughy. Portion-wise, one manakish can probably be 1-2 people, unless you're super hungry. - Shawarma bowls - We've tried their tri tip shawarma bowls. Each bowl is loaded with a good portion of rice, meat, salad, and pickles. There's definitely enough meat to pair with each spoonful of rice. The bowls are again, very flavorful and not too oily, which I appreciate. - Shawarma wraps - We've tried their tri tip shawarma wraps. Each wrap is filled with similar ingredients in the tri tip shawarma bowl and manakish, except it's in a wrapped form. The wrap is still loaded with good flavor with every bite. We've always had ours paired with a side of fries. Their fries taste fresh and doesn't have a hint of being frozen/previously frozen. - Baklava - We've tried their pistachio and walnut baklava. Even though the baklava is sitting in the dessert fridge, each piece tasted fresh. The phyllo dough was still fluffy with many layers even tough it was full of honey (yum!). They have a lot of seating indoors and some seating outdoors. If you're waiting for your to-go orders, they have water available. They also have a restroom for customers. All the times that we've picked up food, the restaurant has been kept very clean and neat. They have a small parking lot, and we've usually been able to snag a spot (except one time). Other parking options are street parking on the same side of the store or opposite the store (in the residential area or near the Salvation Army Thrift Store).

It's half eatery half a butcher shop for people to come and purchase fresh meats for some home cooking. In fact, I watched a lot of people coming in and ordering meats to go. I ordered their chili lamb kabob which was tender and juicy. It had lots of flavor from the spices but enough to where it wasn't overwhelming. I ordered it on top of a pillow of rice which was fluffy and buttery textured. It was delicious. There are sauce bottles to pair with the meats which is my favorite part. I really liked their white creamy yogurt sauce mixed with their red house chili sauce. It gave my lamb meat so much flavor and some heat. I loved my order and will definitely order two next time. I also want to try their steaks. They take their time grilling their meats so orders can take a short while. It's worth it for sure. No complaints here but I do wish they played some light music in the background for some ambiance. Things can be real quiet in here so it can be awkward dining in. Other than that, I really like this place and will be back for more.

I mentioned before the rice has a scent and flavor beyond jasmine or basmati. The French fries are crisp & fresh. The flat bread is tender. The menu has expanded and is more flexible. A new gem is the lentil soup; creamy & exotically spiced without being too much so. It is not the least expensive place, but you get more than you pay for. Tayyibaat remains our go-to splurge.

Social media strikes again…read more.. I came across a reel on IG featuring Iraklis. The food looked intriguing and scrumptious...in other words FIRE! I would not have known about this place if it wasn't for the reel. I'm also not familiar with Syrian and Lebanese cuisine. Thought I'd give it a shot. Not the biggest of venues, it a bit small on the inside, they have few benches and tables outside. Parking wasn't an issue, plenty of spaces in the parking lot. The staff was very helpful and informative. This is a fast casual spot with table service. They do bring the food to you, but you can help yourself to everything else afterwards, is: water, sauces, napkins etc. #SyrianEats: WRAP: ~ SHAWARMA: Damascus style CHICKEN - 5/5 Absolutely DELISH!! Love the garlic spread that came on the side. The wrap was already tasty enough, but somehow it was even tastier with the Garlic spread. Even the fries that came with it were spectacular! That drizzle pomegranate molasses... just DELISH!! This was one of the best wraps I had Stateside. Actually the best! PLATE: ~ MANSAF - 5/5 The Lamb shank was excellent as well! Tender fall of the bone with flavor galore, and the butter sauce was amazing as well...delish! The rice that came with the Lamb shank was OK. It was probably good, but the flavor profile didn't stand up to the rest of the food. I thought it could use more flavor, but that just me nitpicking... 4.5 ***** rounded up to 5***** for me This food here is amazing. I'll be back...

The Turkish delights were overly sweet, and the baklava was mediocre - would not get again. I didn't appreciate how the default tip option when ordering is 20%, especially when the service is cafeteria style. Customer orders at the counter, picks up food, utensils, napkins, sauce, and water themselves, then buses dirty plates to the back themselves. Please don't expect 20% tip for this type of self service.

I took no pictures because I was eating in the car and just dove in, but it was well-wrapped for the journey. I was kicking myself after leaving for not remembering to ask for no onion, only to discover that, thankfully, they didn't put raw onion on it! I was delighted, and this may be the best chicken shawarma I've ever had. The meat was flavorful and plentiful for a small order, and to my utter joy there were strips of pickle tucked in with the meat! It was such a delicious mouthful that I was really wishing I'd gotten the full size after all! It's better that I didn't, and now I can't wait to go back again and try more things, like the shawarma fries! Parking can be difficult so be prepared to hunt and maybe walk a bit. The staff was all woman and while they weren't chatty, they were all diligently doing prep, which is necessary. I honestly can't wait for the chance to come back soon!

The beef and lamb arabi style wrap portion is pretty big. I got seasoned fries for the side and we were given a lot. I'm a big fan of the double fried fries or the so-called psoriasis fries. There was a good balance of crispy and mushy fries. Tastes really good with the toum and the tahini sauce. The wrap is a bit dry but the flavors are still good. I think I do prefer the chicken over the beef/lamb mainly for the tahini sauce. The service is kind of just ok. I didn't know you were supposed to grab the sides from the fridge and they didn't tell me until I had to go back and ask. The whole interaction just felt a bit awkward but I'm sure they were also just tired. The place could be a bit tidier and cleaner. There's also no public restroom for those wondering but they have hand sanitizer stations set up which is nice. Parking is not too difficult but I haven't been when it's peak hours.
