    Gyro Combo
    Yeebing T.

Came here at a late night for dinner with a friend. There is ample space inside of the restaurant, which was well-lit with a welcoming ambiance, and a decent amount of parking in the form of one of the public Downtown San Jose parking lots that you have to pay money for after 90 minutes. The server was very direct in a way that came off as slightly rude, but I'll excuse it since it was very late and I assume a lot of us were probably tired. The menu was a little hard to navigate, with no list of what ingredients were inside outside of the markings that let you know whether something was gluten-free or vegan-friendly. Some of the gyros (like the lamb gyro) were apparently locked behind a combo, which was a little strange considering they were marked on the menu as regular items. After some deciding I got the Gyro Combo with lamb meat and Greek Fries, which was a decent amount of food. The food was also a decent level of savory, and came with a small portion of salad. Overall, eating at Nick the Greek was a decent experience. A lot of their salads looked really enticing (which is pretty weird as I'm not usually a salad person) so I wouldn't mind returning again to try it. I'm sure the service will be more lively in the afternoon.

Staff was helpful as we tried to decide what to get. The food was served quickly which was nice since we had our kids with us. The food all tasted good (and I sampled every plate!) My 8 year old wrote her own review :).

Visited before watching a game at SAP. I ordered ahead and when I arrived the food was ready earlier than expected. Plave was clean and staff were kind. Gyro bowl was delicious and I found the portion to be generous. Price is fair.

Loved my experience at Nick the Greek! I came for dessert and had to try the loukoumades--these Greek doughnut balls are a must-try. They're warm, fluffy, and perfectly crisp on the outside, generously drizzled with honey and sprinkled with cinnamon. Every bite is sweet, light, and absolutely delicious, making them the perfect treat if you're craving something unique and satisfying. The staff was friendly and quick, and the clean, modern restaurant made it a great spot to relax. If you're new to Greek desserts, loukoumades are essentially little fried dough balls drenched in syrup, sometimes with nuts or extra toppings--Nick the Greek nails it. I highly recommend adding this dessert to your order! I can't wait to come back for more.

Nick the Greek hit the spot. Fresh bowls loaded with flavor, tender gyro meat, crisp veggies, and sauces that actually taste homemade. Portions were solid, everything came out fast, and the place had a relaxed family-friendly vibe. Simple, clean, delicious -- exactly what you want when you're grabbing Greek food downtown. Definitely coming back. Great service.

First time trying this chain! Pretty solid. I had the chicken gyro and beef/lamb gyro bowls. These weren't my favorite bowls only because I felt the yogurt flavor was way too overpowering, but the meat itself was pretty good. I enjoyed the chicken gyro more than the beef and lamb. I also tried the Nick Fries with Beefteki. The fries themselves taste super fresh and you really can tell they are freshly cut. Beef teki was good as well, but I overall felt that the fries could use more flavor. My favorite tries here were the chicken souvlaki pita and froyo with honey & baklava. The chicken souvlaki was so juicy & had really good flavor; the wrap was balanced and delicious. The froyo with honey and baklava was such a refreshing dessert! Wasn't too sweet and the texture of the baklava chunks complimented the dessert so well. And the honey greek yogurt combo was amazing! Person who took our order was really patient and helpful with explaining menu items. They even brought our food out for us which was really nice. The place had lots of seating and TV blasting sports in the background.

New menu to me, as of Aug 2025. I note an item i like, the gyro salad (arugula greens in balsamic with gyro meat) is gone

Got tired with the faster food options (Taco Bell, Chipotle, Erik's deli )around in the area, so head here once in a while. Service was very slow at Fri lunch time, probably because this place seems popular for online order (I see a long string of tickets). Definitely not fast food but seems inordinately long. Still, feels too long. As i wait (after 10 mins to start writing)and write this, still waiting forever. Given the cost vs time and not even considering food yet, clearly I made a poor choice.... Time from order on receipt to receiving food: 20 mins.... Menu also has been adjusted. Food portion seem smaller and presentation was meh looking..Luckily it tasted solid. They also nicely include the two sauces. Overall if you have time to wait, doable.

Food wasn't that good, especially for the price. Not enough meat portions and also a hair was in my bowl to top it all off.

For the Gyro, does the bowl or pita taste better?

Is the rice vegetarian, or is an animal stock used to cook it?

Does their feta have cow dairy or is just sheep's milk? Cow dairy allergy here

    Are there gluten-free options?

They have rice but no gf bread

What's in the spicy sauce? I need to make sure allergies won't be an issue n I love spicy food.

what are your food allergies? We use a diverse mix of spices and ingredients.

How does the Gyro here compare to somewhere like Opa?

Flavorful and very generous portion for probably less money but Opa!'s is likely a little better.

We decided to give this place a try and man we were not disappointed at all. It is located in a rather small business complex with other restaurants around. Parking can be a little tight during peak hours, but it is so worth it. It is a walk-up to order type of place where they bring your food out to you. The menu is clear to see, however they have a ton of options. One of the questions we had was what was the difference between a gyro and a souvlaki. The best way to think about it is, a gyro has shaved meat, while a souvlaki has skewered chunked meat. We ordered the dolmades, chicken gyro combo (comes with fries), and a beef souvlaki. The beef souvlaki was seasoned well and the red onions, French fries and other ingredients provides the perfect well-balanced flavor. The chicken gyro was also a well seasoned and balanced gyro in soft pita bread. The highlight for us,however, was the dolmades. If you think you have good ones throughout San Jose, I can guarantee, you will not see this one coming. It came out warm, slightly acidic, but also well balanced. It has meat in it,which I think might be veal or beef, I scarfed it down so fast I completely forgot to ask what type of meat they use. I cannot wait to go back and visit again. Those dolmades are calling me!

The details: I normally don't eat a lot of meat, so I chose the Falafel Salad. It came with extremely little lettuce, plus a few olives (which I don't eat), onions (which I also eat sparingly), tomatoes, cucumbers, and the falafel balls. Oh! And there was feta cheese, but those were such miniscule pieces, and so few, that I wouldn't have remembered it was supposed to be part of the salad, if I didn't just pull up a photo online with their ordering system. What you see in the photo online is not what you get. The photo actually looks like a salad. Since it was called a salad, I expected there to be more lettuce, than the few pieces on the plate. I mainly was cutting up the cucumber & tomato pieces to go with the falafels. I don't even recall any dressing. There were also some pita slices with what I assumed was hummus. Whatever the dip was, it did not taste good to me at all. So I left all of the pita bread, as well, since it was dry without anything on it. Maybe what I assumed was hummus was a dressing. Hard to know, but it was not tasty. For the $27 I paid at a walk up counter, I would have expected much better food! I have bought frozen falafels at Lunardis (around $7) and made a salad for them at home, and enjoyed it very much, which is why I ordered it. I have purchased Spanakopita at the store many times, (about $5 for around 12 of them at the store) and made them at home, which is why I didn't order that. The falafel salad was not an enjoyable meal for me at Yiassoo's. I'd also seen some reviews from a few years back that said they paid around $10 or $11 for their meal. That is more in-line price-wise with what you get, based upon my meal. With most of the meals around $20 for lunch, I feel they were very over-priced. I also asked my friend if she'd like to split a Baklava. They had a pistachio one & chocolate one. My friend wanted to try the chocolate one, so I bought that. I didn't think I was too into baklava, but thought it might be nice to try at this highly rated Greek restaurant. The main flavor that came through was the honey & nuts. The chocolate was just a tiny, narrow drizzle on top. I didn't hate it, but I would never order it again. My friend took one bite, and said she mainly tasted the honey, and would take it home for her husband. It may be very good baklava, but it was not to our tastes. My friend ordered the Gyro salad. It had a large pile of shaved meat, and she seemed to enjoy it. She ordered it To-Go, as she knew she'd be taking some of it home. She seemed to have more lettuce under her pile of meat than my meal got. Maybe because it was in a To-Go box, which might be larger than the plate? Or maybe the person making my salad just wasn't paying attention to how to make a decent meal. I was hoping I was trying a restaurant that I could go back to for something different. Based upon my experience, I would not go back, if I had a choice. I gave it 3 stars, because maybe other dishes, or people looking to just eat meat or falafel balls and not much else would enjoy it. I only have the 1 meal to review, but it does not encourage me to try it again. Overpriced & not a fulfilling meal.
